Princess Diana (née Lady Diana Frances Spencer) bornJuly 11961 in Sandringham, Norfolk (England).

Diana spent her childhood in Sandringham, where she received her primary education at home. Her teacher was governess Gertrude Allen, who also taught Diana's mother. Looking ahead, we note that Diana’s parents divorced and the future princess lived with her father, sisters and brother. Soon a stepmother appeared in the house, who disliked the children. Divorce had the greatest impact on the girl Diana. She began to do worse at school. As a result, Diana never finished it. The only thing she loved was dancing. Diana also simply doted on children. In general, the lady leaves her father's house and goes to London, where she works as a nanny in a kindergarten and rents an apartment with her friends. But that’s later, but for now she continued her education in Sealfield, at a private school near King’s Line, then at Riddlesworth Hall preparatory school.

At the age of twelve she was accepted into the exclusive girls' school at West Hill, in Sevenoaks, Kent.

« Lady Diana" ( title of courtesyfor daughters of high peers) she became in 1975, after the death of her grandfather, when her father inherited the earldom and became the 8th Earl Spencer. During this period, the family moved to the ancient ancestral castle of Althorp House in Notthrogtonshire.

Cinderella's first love

In the winter of 1977, before leaving to study in Switzerland, sixteen-year-old Lady Diana meets Prince Charles for the first time when he comes to Althorp on a hunting trip.

TO wedding of Charles and Diana, held on July 29, 1981, attracted a lot of public and media attention. Diana and Charles's sons, princes, were born in 1982 and 1984.William And Harry (Henry) Welsh, who are next in line to inherit the British crown after their father. By the early 1990s, relations between the spouses were upset, in particular due to Charles's ongoing relationship withCamilla Parker Bowles(later, after the death of Diana, who became his second wife). Diana herself had a close relationship with her riding instructor, James Hewitt, for some time, which she admitted in a 1995 television interview (a year earlier, Charles made a similar admission about his relationship with Camilla). The marriage broke up in 1992, after which the couple lived separately, and ended in divorce in 1996 on the initiative of the QueenElizabeth II.

Secret romance

Shortly before her death, in June 1997, Diana began dating a film producerDodi al-Fayed, son of an Egyptian billionaireMohamed al-Fayed, however, apart from the press, none of her friends confirmed this fact, and this is also denied in the book of Lady Diana’s butler, Paul Burrell, who was a close friend of the princess.

"The People's Princess"

  1. Why was Diana the most famous young woman in the world?
  2. Why did she win the hearts of millions of people in different countries?
  3. Why did so many people come to London to remember her when she died??
  4. Why did the car accident that took her life come as such a shock to everyone?
  5. Why did people feel such a need to attend her funeral?
  6. Why did the tears and love at the funeral touch everyone?

The answer is very simple...

  1. Hundreds of people spoke about her kindness
  2. Despite her title and fortune, she loved ordinary people and was ready to lend a helping hand to everyone.
  3. She helped the sick and poor. When visiting hospitals, she was not afraid to communicate with AIDS patients.
  4. She was ready to give people not only money, but also a piece of her soul to make them happy.

She truly was the “people’s” princess... Childhood, school, first job.

Diana Frances Spencer was born on July 1, 1961 at Park House, the home her parents rented on the royal family's estate at Sandringham. Diana had two older sisters, Sarah and Jane, and a younger brother, Charles.

When Diana was six, her mother left her father. The Spencers divorced in 1969, and Diana's father received custody of the children. In 1975 Diana's father became the eighth Earl Spencer, making Diana a Lady.

Diana attended private boarding schools. Although she wasn't an especially good student, she was excelled at sports and swimming. She dreamed of being a ballerina, but grew too tall. After leaving school in 1978 she worked as a nanny, waitress, and cleaning woman before becoming a teacher at the Young England kindergarten in Pimlico, London.

Romance with the Prince. Fairy-tale or drama?

Her romance with the Prince of Wales began in 1980. The oldest child of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II, he was 12 years older than Diana, and had previously dated her sister Sarah. Almost from the start, the press took a special interest in "Lady Di." They staked out her apartment and followed her everywhere. Diana later said that she found the constant attention unbearable.

Diana and Charles were married July 29, 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. The wedding was broadcast in 74 countries and watched by 750 million people worldwide. Diana was the first English woman to marry an heir to the throne in over 300 years.

At the ceremony the Archbishop of Canterbury said, "Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made." But the fairy tale was an illusion, as Diana had already discovered. Prince Charles was still in love with an old girlfriend, Camilla Parker-Bowles. "There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded," Princess Diana remarked years later. Distraught, Diana developed bulimia and attempted suicide. Despite her problems, she was a devoted mother to her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She worked tirelessly for charity, and was beloved by the public for its warmth and humanity.

In 1992 Princess Diana decided to expose the truth about her relationship with Prince Charles to the public. She secretly collaborated with author Andrew Morton on his book Diana, Her True Story. The separation of the Prince and Princess of Wales was announced on December 9, 1992. The divorce became official August 28, 1996. Princess Diana kept the title Princess of Wales and continued to work for her favorite charities. She and Prince Charles had joint custody of their sons.

Secret love

In 1997 Princess Diana began a love affair with Emad "Dodi" Fayed, the son of billionaire businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed. Their romance ended abruptly on August 31, 1997 when both were killed in a car accident in Paris while fleeing from paparazzi. Princess Diana's sudden death led to an unprecedented worldwide outpouring of grief and love. As her brother said at her funeral, she was "the unique, the complex, the extraordinary and irreplaceable Diana, whose beauty, both internal and external, will never be extinguished from our minds."

People's Princes, indeed.

Why was Diana the most famous, the most beautiful, the most photographed woman in the world?

Why did she win the hearts of millions and millions of people in many countries?

Why did so many people come to London to remember her when she died?

Why did the car accident which took her life, become such a total shock to crowds of people?

Why did people feel the need to be in London at the funeral?

Why did the tears and love at the funeral move the world?

The answer is so simple.

She was a kind woman. Hundreds of people talked about Diana's kindnesses.

She liked ordinary people, though she was rich and had many rich friends. Wherever she was, she was always ready to lend a hand.

She was devoted to the sick and the poor. She visited hospitals for people with AIDS and for lepers and wasn't afraid to touch them, talk to them, listen to them.

And it's not only money, that she wanted to give people. She wanted to give them a part of her soul, to make them happy.

She was, indeed, the People's Princess.

Princess Diana

Diana was born in 1961,into a very wealthy and aristocratic family. Her ancestors acquired the title of earl from king Charles I in the 17th century. For the next three centuries they felt comfortable at the royal court, holding various positions and bearing various titles.

In 1980 Diana appeared on the world stage as the future bride of Charles, the next king of England. They married on July 29, 1981 in St. Paul's Cathedral in London.

Even though they had two children, William and Harry, Diana and Charles soon became unhappy together.

Diana was a very modern woman who enjoyed pop music, romantic novels and charity work. Charles enjoyed many different interests, but their age difference and mentalities clashed. After a very public separation in 1989, an equally public divorce followed in 1996.

As a single woman Diana put all of her energy into her two sons and her charity work

In 1997 she started a romance with Dodi Fayed, son of the owner of Harrods. Soon after the two were tragically killed in a car crash in Paris. She was a very English Rose, whose early death stunned a nation into silence.

As her brother said at her funeral, she was "the unique, the complex, the extraordinary and irreplaceable Diana, whose beauty, both internal and external, will never be extinguished from our minds."

Why did tears and love during a funeral shock the world?
The answer is very simple. Matthew Wall, student at St. Michael's in Burlington, said: "She was such a wonderful woman. She did so much for those less fortunate than her."
She was an attentive woman. Hundreds of people noted Diana's kindness. She loved ordinary people, although she was rich and had rich friends. Wherever she was, she was always ready to help people. She loved the sick and the poor, visited hospitals for AIDS patients and lepers, was not afraid to touch them, talked to them, listened to them.
She was involved in philanthropy and teamed up with Hillary Clinton in an attempt to ban land mines. She wanted to help people not only with money, but to give them a piece of her soul, to make them happy, since she herself was unhappy. She wanted to give them love because she herself needed love.
Rock stars (Sting, Elton John), popular singer George Michael, movie stars and directors (Tom Hanke, Steven Spielberg, Nickel Kidman, Tom Cruise) and other celebrities were her friends. But she had even more friends among ordinary people.
Diana could often be seen in tears, because a 15-year loveless marriage had an impact on her psyche. It is no secret that Diana was persecuted and humiliated to such an extent that she had a nervous breakdown, and she was able to cope with this only because she knew that in her darkest moments the love of the people supported her.
Indeed, Diana was the people's princess.

Princess Diana

Diana Frances Spencer was born on July 1, 1961 in the estate of the Spencers in Norfolk. Diana's parents were from aristocratic families: her father's name is Viscount Althrop and her mother's name is Frances Roche. The ancestors of her father Earl Spencer were relatives of a royal dynasty. The mother had a noble title too. When Diana was six, her mother left the family and in 1969 the marriage of her parents was officially dissolved.

In 1975 Althrop inherited the title of Earl Spencer from his father and for the second/time married Raine, the Countess of Dartmouth, the daughter of the writer Barbara Cartland.

Diana was sent to the private school. She dreamed of being a ballerina, but, then, as she told herself, she had to give up this idea because it appeared that she was too tall for that. Diana studied at normal schools - at first in Norfolk, then in Kent. When she was 16 she left for Switzerland and finished school there. Having returned, she lived with her friends in London, earning as a cook or a nanny, and then found the job of a teacher in a kindergarten.

For the first time Diana met the Prince in 1977, in the estate of Diana's father. Diana's sister Sarah introduced them to each other. They began to date. At this time it was considered in Buckingham Palace that the heir should marry. Diana seemed to be a suitable candidate, though Spencers were not royal by descent. But Diana was not catholic, so one of the main conditions of a royal marriage was observed, and the decision was made. They were married at St. Paul's Cathedral on July 29, 1981 and this wedding became rather the most brilliant event in Britain. Diana was twenty, Charles - thirty-two.

However, after the honeymoon the relationship between the couple started getting worse.

In June, 1982 the Princess of Wales gave birth to her first son, Prince William, and in September, 1984 she gave birth to her second child Prince Henry. The Royal family hoped that with birth of the sons peace would reign in the family. But the hopes appeared to be vain. Charles and Diana were moving away from each other. The situation became even worse, when the Princess understood, that the heart of the Prince belongs to another woman - Camilla Parker-Bowles (later, in 1986, it became known, that he renewed the relations with her). Then Diana, in her turn, began to take lessons of horse riding from the major Hewitt, a heart breaker from the high society. The exposing scandalous photos and overheard telephone conversations of the husband and wife appeared in mass media.

Since autumn 1987 the couple began to spend almost all the time separately. In December, 1992 the Prime Minister John Major announced to the Parliament, that Diana and Charles were going to divorce. The official divorce was held in August, 1996.

Several last weeks of her life Princess Diana spent together with her friend Duddy Al-Fayed, 41 years old, the senior son of the Egyptian billionaire Mohammed Al-Fayed, the owner of the most fashionable London shop “Harrods”, Paris hotel “Ritz” ", and a lot of others.

On August 31, 1997 Princess Diana was killed in a car accident together with Duddi. Diana's death was a great tragedy and loss for the whole British nation. In her life she did a lot of charity all over the world and became the most popular and beloved figure of the royal family. Her death is still full of mysteries.
