Wall-mounted clothes dryer. Wall-mounted clothes dryer for the bathroom. Types, their pros and cons

Even the most ideal apartment can have its drawbacks. For example, it may not have a balcony or loggia, which makes it impossible to dry things in the fresh air. An alternative option could be a clothes dryer in the bathroom. There are several types of dryers, the choice of which depends on the characteristics of the room and the personal wishes of the owners of the apartment or house. The dryer will ensure quick drying of things, and when folded it will take up very little space.

Today, many people cannot imagine their life without such a functionally convenient design as a bathroom dryer. Modern developers have created several options for dryers, which allow you to choose exactly the option that will meet the characteristics of the bathroom. Which dryer is better to choose, everyone decides for himself, since its convenience is determined by each individual.

Drying can be wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted, suspended or floor-mounted - each option has its own advantages and features.

Each design is designed to dry clothes and save space. That is why dryers are often assembled quickly and do not take up much space during storage. Before purchasing, it is important to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of each type so that the choice is thoughtful and the decision is informed.

Types of dryers:

  1. Wall-mounted. Can be rope and folding. The rope design involves pulling ropes over the bathtub. They can be installed once or removed after each use. The latter option will not be very convenient and practical for daily use. The design is based on a special drum on which a rope is wound. You can install it yourself, but for this you will need working tools - a drill and dowels.
  2. Ceiling and suspended. It is a complex design that provides convenient hanging of things. The dryer consists of special rods, each of which can be independently adjusted. The rods can be used to create a drying area for items that cannot be folded in half.
  3. To the battery. If the bathroom is heated, then this option is very practical. But the disadvantage of the design is its small size. It is very inconvenient to place large things on it, for example, bed linen needs to be folded several times.
  4. To the bathroom. The design is easy to install on the bathroom, then you don’t have to worry that water will drain from some things. The disadvantage of this design is its rather large dimensions - this makes it difficult to store.

Each of the dryers allows you to dry things and use it regardless of whether the apartment has a balcony or not. Before purchasing, it is important to decide on the type of dryer and determine the place in which it will be stored. For example, floor structures are very easy to move, carry and install in any convenient place.

Types of clothes dryers

Choosing a dryer for your bathroom may not be such an easy task. It is important to decide which dryer is best suited to the dimensions of the room and determine the place for its storage. Most dryers are made in such a way that when folded they do not take up much space.

It is very important to choose the right dryer, then purchasing it will only bring convenience, saving time and space.

A large selection of dryers from different manufacturers allows you to choose a functional dryer that can be installed on the floor, ceiling, wall or radiator. The battery, for example, will help things dry faster. But a small drying rack will save space, but will not allow you to hang large items.

Types of dryer materials:

  • Plastic. A less popular material for making dryers. They are mainly used to make sliding structures for installation in the bathroom.
  • Metal. The choice of a metal structure should be taken very seriously, since things should be dried on a reliable dryer that will not break after several uses. Aluminum structures are considered not very reliable, but dryers made of chrome and steel have proven themselves well.

Dryers are divided by type of installation. The folding design is convenient because the dryer can be placed or removed at any convenient time. You can install a floor dryer quickly and without much effort. But the tension structure requires more time and effort to install.

DIY bathroom dryer

Sometimes it is not possible to purchase such a convenient device as a dryer. But there is always a way out of the situation. You can make a dryer yourself, but you will need to purchase some materials.

A homemade dryer will look beautiful if you use high-quality materials to make it.

The simplest and probably the most ancient method is hanging ropes. To make such a dryer, you need to buy several meters of rope and screws. Such a dryer will look beautiful if you buy not a simple rope, but a beautifully woven one and painted in a color that matches the overall style of the interior.

How to make a dryer over the bath yourself:

  • Make a base from several wooden beams, fastening them together.
  • Attach cross beams to the base, maintaining a certain distance between them.
  • The length and width of such a hanger must be calculated independently, based on the size of the bathtub.

You can make any design yourself. But it all depends on the professionalism of the master and the complexity of the design. Of course, the simplest dryers will look less stylish than dryers from well-known manufacturers. But the option of self-production can be considered in the absence and impossibility of others.

Should you hang clotheslines in the bathroom?

Today, many people continue to use ancient methods to dry things. Now we are talking about the ropes that people hang in the kitchen and bathroom. Scientists have found that drying clothes is much safer in the fresh air. But drying it on a line is not at all useful.

Drying clothes on a line is not practical - wet clothes take up a lot of space, and a dusty line can stain your clothes.

Of course, it happens that there is no choice. Then you should be careful when choosing ropes, since they are made of different materials and have different strengths. Drying lines must be reliable, since wet laundry weighs quite a lot.

What can be used instead of ropes:

  • Strings;
  • Lattice;
  • Plastic dryers;
  • Metal dryers.

Today, clotheslines are not as common. Most people use modern clothes dryers, which combine practicality and decorativeness. Today, electric dryers are gaining great popularity.

How to assemble a clothes dryer in the bathroom (video)

Bathroom dryers are a convenient device that allows you to dry clothes without taking up much space. There are different types of construction. They can be made from various materials: metal, plastic or wood. Depending on the method of location and fastening, dryers can be wall-mounted, suspended, or floor-mounted. It is important to choose a dryer that will not take up much space when folded.

The question “Where to dry clothes?” is no longer so acute, because with the development of technology, many convenient solutions to this problem have appeared. Until recently, the only suitable place for drying clothes in a city home was a balcony or ropes stretched from the ceiling, but today compact and functional dryers can be installed in any corner of the apartment.

The most suitable place to place a dryer is the bathroom. Firstly, hanging laundry there will not be noticeable to strangers. Secondly, a ventilation system is usually installed in the bathroom, which helps to quickly get rid of excess moisture. Even if your bathroom is very small, there will still be free space to install this device, since there are models on sale that are designed specifically for small spaces.

Owners of small bathrooms should take a closer look at wall-mounted dryer models. They are attached to the wall, so they do not need a lot of space, and when assembled, wall dryers are almost invisible. This article is devoted to the existing types of wall-mounted clothes dryers, the features of their placement and installation.

Types, their pros and cons

Folding

The folding design is a modern modification of the ropes stretched over the bathtub, on which our mothers and grandmothers dried clothes. It consists of two plastic panels with ropes stretched between them. The panels are mounted on opposite walls (most often - under the ceiling). When the dryer is not needed, one of the parts is removed from the wall and attached to the other. The ropes are automatically pulled into the panel. Depending on the model, you have from 4 to 6 rows of ropes at your disposal.

Pros:

  • low cost;
  • Possibility of installation in small bathrooms and combined bathrooms;
  • ease of operation.

Minuses:

  • the maximum load that the folding dryer can withstand is 7 kg;
  • in budget models that are not equipped with a pull-up mechanism, the ropes may sag under the weight of the laundry;
  • low-quality plastic may crack after just a few dryings;
  • if the dryer is located very high, then hanging clothes on it will be extremely inconvenient;
  • If you hang bed linen on a dryer placed above the font, then while it is drying, you will not be able to take water procedures.

Sliding

The sliding model has a more interesting design. It is made in the form of a metal console that folds and unfolds like an accordion. The elements of the sliding dryer are connected to each other using reliable rivets. Between the two folding parts there are several metal tubes, which serve as holders for linen.

Pros:

  • compact design;
  • strength;
  • ability to withstand heavy weight;
  • ease of use;
  • Can be used as a towel holder.

Minuses:

  • The small size of the sliding model does not allow you to dry a lot of laundry or large items on it.

Electric

An electric dryer is usually used as a heated towel rail, but it can also be used to dry small items of clothing. The electric dryer is attached to the wall in any convenient place in the bathroom. It is a kind of ladder made of metal tubes. The number of crossbars may vary depending on the model.

Pros:

  • wide possibilities for installation;
  • if necessary, the electric dryer can be turned off;
  • low heating temperature protects against burns;
  • Possibility of use as a heater.

Minuses:

  • when installing and operating this type of dryer, you must follow the rules for using electrical appliances in rooms with high levels of air humidity;
  • lack of space for drying large items or bedding.

Materials

Rope

Rope dryers are considered the most economical. You can make something similar with your own hands, since the material (clothesline) costs very little. Rope dryers are usually long enough, so they can be used to dry clothes from several washes at once.

Steel

Steel clothes dryers are usually chrome plated, so they look impressive and can decorate the interior of the bathroom. Dryers made of steel are very durable and reliable. The only difficulty is caring for them - to maintain the original shine of chrome you will have to purchase special cleaning products.

Aluminum

Aluminum dryers are considered a budget option for steel structures. They are also quite durable, but weigh significantly less. True, the weight of washed laundry that they can withstand is also significantly less.

Plastic

Plastic clothes dryers, despite their lack of durability, are still popular. They are inexpensive, have a simple design and are light in weight. In addition, unlike all other materials, plastic is available in a wide range of colors.

Wall-ceiling

The wall-ceiling clothes dryer has two mounting options: between two opposite walls and on the ceiling. The first option is usually used for installation on a loggia, since attaching the dryer to the ceiling there is problematic.

Thin metal tubes through which ropes are threaded act as laundry holders. The holders can be lowered and raised like blinds by pulling a special rope. Since parts of the structure can move up and down, such a dryer is called an “elevator”.

The number of holders can vary from 4 to 10. The weight that the wall-ceiling dryer can withstand depends on this. On average, such models are designed for a weight of up to 20 kg, which is a fairly good indicator.

Original design

  • Folding dryers can be installed on any vertical surface. If it is not needed, you just need to lift the dryer - this way it looks like an unusual panel. By folding the dryer, you can dry towels and small wardrobe items on it.
  • Over the door - as the name suggests, these dryers are mounted directly on the door. Hooks are used as fasteners, so after use the dryer can be removed from the door and stored in a secluded place.
  • Mobile dryers are also called attached dryers. They are a folding triangular structure that is placed on the sides of the bathtub. The disadvantage of such dryers is that until the laundry is dry, you cannot use the bathroom.
  • For batteries - this type of dryer is fixed to heating devices using a pair of hooks. Since batteries are rare in the bathroom, such models are most often installed in other rooms and are used mainly for drying towels.

Accommodation

  • Most of us wash all the laundry that has accumulated over a certain period in one day, making several “approaches” to the washing machine. Thus, the dryer ends up with clothes from several washes at once. In order not to test the strength of interior partitions, choose a solid wall for installing the dryer, preferably a load-bearing one. This way you will be sure that the wall will not gradually begin to crumble under the weight of wet laundry.
  • When choosing a place for the dryer, keep in mind that it will be unfolded from time to time. While the laundry is drying, you should be provided with free access to all plumbing fixtures and cabinets.
  • Try to place the dryer as close to the ventilation system as possible - this way the laundry will dry faster and excess moisture will evaporate in time. Monitor the condition of the fan and clean it periodically.
  • Now take the bracket on which the structure will be attached and attach it to the wall in the selected location. Through the through holes, mark the locations of future fasteners.
  • In accordance with the markings on the wall, drill the required number of holes.
  • Secure the brackets to the wall using the set of fasteners included in the kit.
  • Attach the remaining dryer parts to the brackets following the instructions in the assembly manual.

  • How to do it yourself?

    Method 1: Rope Clothes Dryer

    The most basic version of a homemade wall dryer is a system of hooks and ropes stretched over the font. To begin with, we purchase all the necessary materials from the hardware department (instead of hooks, you can use thick fishing line or beautiful wire). Then we make markings on two opposite walls to which our dryer will be attached. We mark the locations of the hooks: they should be located on the same line at an equal distance from each other. After this, we drill holes in which we then fix the hooks. We cut the rope into equal parts and pull it between the hooks. The rope dryer is ready!

    Method 2: overhead clothes dryer

    In order to build a more permanent structure, you will need more free time and tools for woodworking. We will make the dryer from wooden slats with a cross section of 2 cm. First you need to cut the components of the structure: cut two bars equal to the length of the bathtub and 6-8 bars equal to its width. We sand the sawn bars.

    We place the long bars at a distance slightly less than the width of the bathtub and begin to nail the short bars to them. It is the short bars that will serve as holders for linen. You need to try to keep the same distance between them so that the dryer is not only reliable, but also beautiful. The finished dryer can be painted in any color that matches the interior of your bathroom.

    Every housewife knows that drying washed clothes requires a free area of several square meters in a room with dry air. Finding such space in a small apartment is difficult. The speed of drying clothes on a balcony or loggia directly depends on weather conditions. In addition, the sight of laundry drying in full view of passers-by creates the impression of cramped living conditions. Dryers are expensive and require extra space in the bathroom. A practical and budget option are clothes dryers for the bathroom.

    Types of clothes dryers

    Manufacturers of household dryers offer a large number of options for drying clothes. They differ from each other in the following characteristics:

    • installation method;
    • designs;
    • possibilities of movement;
    • area required for organizing laundry drying.

    The size and design of the selected model depends on the volume of one load of the washing machine. If the washing machine is compact and its maximum load does not exceed 4 kg, then you can choose a wall-mounted product, a model installed on the sides of the bathtub or on a heating radiator.

    For small apartments, there are options for wall and ceiling dryers, allowing you to avoid cluttering the balcony with drying clothes.

    Floor-standing

    Such models are convenient because they can be moved from one place to another. This property allows you to choose a room for drying clothes with a low percentage of humidity or with good ventilation in order to influence the processing speed. A large number of strings allows you to hang a lot of clean laundry.

    Classic floor dryers take up a lot of space when unfolded, and if space allows, you can purchase this easy-to-use model. For small apartments, there are compact options for dryer racks, which, when unfolded, are stored in the shower stall.

    The material from which dryers are made determines the durability of the product. A hanger made of wood and steel is considered durable. This product will withstand the heavy weight of wet laundry. Plastic and aluminum models are designed for light loads and are therefore not considered durable.

    Wall mounted

    When choosing a wall-mounted clothes dryer for the bathroom, you need to find out what types of their designs are:

    1. Folding console with connection of side elements in the form of an accordion. Depending on the modification, such a hanger can consist of 5-10 sections for drying things. It can be mounted on the wall and can withstand up to 5 kg of wet laundry.
    2. Rope with string tension regulator. This option is an improved alternative to the clotheslines from the Soviet past. The design of this dryer is laconic, the regulator allows you to prevent the ropes from sagging.
    3. Inertial folding. This is a variation of the previous model, allowing you to install clotheslines for drying clothes only when necessary. The design consists of a reel suspended at a convenient height with ropes wound on it, which are secured on the opposite wall with clamps. This hanger can withstand a load of 5 kg.
    4. Telescopic with moving rods along guides. The size of this model should be chosen in accordance with the dimensions of the bathroom so that the guides can be attached to the walls. If the length of such a hanger is less than the size of the bathroom, the guides will “hang in the air”, creating an obstacle.

    Hanging

    The ceiling clothes dryer is the most popular model among buyers due to its space saving, ease of use and durability. Compared to rope ones, this design makes it possible to place laundry at a comfortable height at shoulder level, and after hanging, the rods with things can be raised to free up useful space in the bathroom. These models are called creepers.

    Liana, as a recognized leader, is suitable not only for apartments with high ceilings, but also for small rooms, since it allows you to dry laundry at a level higher than a person’s height.

    The bath dryer is small in size and can be used as an additional place to place wet laundry. Since there is always high humidity in the bathroom, it is necessary to find out whether such a hanger has corrosion protection.

    A dryer installed horizontally on the bathtub will allow you to dry delicate knitted items that cannot be wrung out after washing. When choosing such a model, you need to know exactly the size of the bathtub bowl.

    Electrical

    Electric dryers are a suitable option for families with small children and for those who have little free time. Even jackets, blankets and children's soft toys dry quickly on such dryers.

    The range of electric hangers includes floor, ceiling and wall models. For ease of use, some ceiling modifications are equipped with built-in lights and a hairdryer for ventilation.

    Wall-mounted options significantly save space and cope well with their main task, even if they are small in size. Floor dryers come in the form of shelves, racks with covers, and transformers.

    The latest technical innovations are represented by remote-controlled models, options with a timer and the ability to determine the drying mode.

    Sliding

    Such hangers are compact models that can significantly save space in a small apartment. The length of these dryers ranges from 50 to 120 cm, and the width is significantly reduced after the laundry has been processed due to the possibility of folding. Such products can be made of metal or wood.

    Folding

    These models can serve both for drying clothes and as towel holders. Folding dryers are a folding design suitable for use in the smallest bathroom.

    Pros and cons

    Any dryer model has advantages and disadvantages that are worth considering in detail:

    1. Floor devices do not require permanent mounting, their installation is not difficult, they can accommodate a large amount of drying laundry. Disadvantages include the need to allocate space for installation and storage when folded.
    2. Wall dryers are easy to use and do not take up much space. The disadvantage is the need to perform complex installation work to install the dryer. The support brackets are secured to the wall with reliable fasteners. The disadvantages include the ability to withstand light loads.
    3. Ceiling-mounted dryers allow you to use the bathroom and dry your clothes at the same time. They are easy to use and durable. The disadvantages include their complex installation to the ceiling and the product assembly process, in which it is difficult to pass the lace through the roller and the rod movement control unit. Before attaching the rollers located on the brackets, it is necessary to drill holes in the ceiling corresponding to the marks on the holders. This will help to avoid mistakes in installing the hanger.
    4. Electric dryers. Despite their main advantage - high drying speed - this household appliance has significant disadvantages:
      • the need to observe safety when choosing the installation site and further operation;
      • additional electricity costs;
      • high price;
      • not suitable for drying certain types of fabrics.

    When choosing a clothes hanger, you need to take into account the volume of one load of the washing machine, the size of the space for installation and use, the material of the product, the quality of the connecting fittings and additional fasteners.

    Before choosing a suitable model, it is worth studying additional nuances:

    1. Before purchasing, you should pay attention to the distance between the strings or rods on which things will be dried. On a design with strings located at a distance of less than 7 cm, the laundry will remain wet for a long time.
    2. The surface material of the rods is another indicator of the quality of the product, because there should be no stains left on the linen from them. Laundry will always be clean after drying on wooden and metal rods with enameled or galvanized coating.
    3. The presence of installation instructions, product packaging, and information about the manufacturer indicate a high level of quality of the selected model.

    How to make a dryer with your own hands

    If the bathroom accessories sold in stores are not suitable in terms of size, design or price, you can make a clothes dryer yourself.

    Stretch hangers, which are the most budget option, are inconvenient because they do not lower when laundry needs to be hung or removed. A clothes hanger made of metal tubes requires a scrupulous selection of raw materials.

    There is a way to make an original folding dryer out of wood that will easily fit into any interior and will take up little space even when unfolded. To install a clothes dryer in the bathroom you will need the following materials:

    • wooden blocks for making a frame, the length of which is selected in accordance with the size of the dryer;
    • round wooden rods;
    • a sheet of plywood (the base of the hanger) - a rectangle, the short side of which is 3 cm larger than the short side of the dryer frame;
    • furniture hinges;
    • furniture folding mechanism;
    • fasteners;
    • latch for fixing (furniture lock).

    The manufacturing process consists of 9 simple steps:

    1. Cut all the parts taking into account the pre-designed dimensions of the dryer.
    2. Drill symmetrically located blind round holes of small depth in 2 side bars. The diameter of the holes must match the diameter of the round rods.
    3. Insert the rods into the holes.
    4. Assemble the frame structure from two long beams and the resulting blank. Secure the frame at the corners with self-tapping screws or nails.
    5. Attach the frame to the plywood sheet (base) using furniture hinges, departing 2 cm from the bottom long edge.
    6. Treat the frame and base with acrylic paint or varnish.
    7. Attach 2 folding mechanisms on one side to the side bars of the frame, and on the other to the sides of the base.
    8. Install the locking lock in the center of the top side of the structure.
    9. Mount the dryer on the wall.

    conclusions

    When choosing a dryer, you need to focus on the planning features of the bathroom, the presence or absence of free space in it. A properly selected bath dryer is not only functional and practical, but also an aesthetically attractive item.

    Video instruction

    In order to comfortably dry washed clothes, a lot of devices have been invented today. They take up minimal space, can withstand heavy loads and can be almost invisible to the eye. This article will present the types of clothes dryers and will also discuss their features.

    Types and features

    Based on the type of design, all dryers are divided into simple (without additional mechanisms), folding (with special flaps that can be used to increase the hanging area) and sliding/pull-out (built-in grooves allow you to quickly move the dryer apart).

    And according to the place of attachment, dryers can be divided into wall-mounted, floor-mounted and ceiling-mounted. There are also portable models that can be placed anywhere.

    Wall mounted

    Wall dryers are the most popular product option. When installing, you need to make sure the wall is strong and leave enough space for unfolding the dryer. Not all models provide for a large load, but almost all provide the opportunity to save space.

    There are many types of wall dryers:

    • inertial folding;
    • in the form of an accordion;
    • telescopic;
    • lift type dryers;
    • folding;
    • stationary.

    Inertia folding dryers are two parts installed opposite each other on the walls. A spool of ropes is attached to one, hooks to the other. The ropes need to be pulled out and secured to the hooks. When folded, this model takes up almost no space, but when disassembled it can accommodate quite a lot of laundry.

    An accordion-type dryer is attached to one wall and, if necessary, moves apart according to the accordion principle. The role of ropes in such a dryer is played by thin tubes that do not leave creases on the dried laundry. The number of these tubes varies from 5 to 10 pieces. Often the dimensions of such models are not suitable for drying bed linen. The products are installed in bathrooms; they are very compact when assembled.

    Telescopic dryers extend using a different mechanism. Such models can be extended fully or halfway. They are designed for drying light items such as socks, T-shirts, and shirts.

    The lift type dryer is the most versatile. Often it is placed on the balcony or in the bathroom. It takes up little space, but can accommodate quite a lot of laundry. This dryer is more likely to be a wall-ceiling dryer, because some of its parts can be attached to the ceiling. The design is as follows: two strips with metal tubes are attached to the wall; thanks to a special mechanism, these tubes can be lowered to the desired level and then raised with the hanging laundry.

    This dryer allows you to hang things at different levels, so they are better ventilated. The mechanism can withstand up to 25 kg of clothing, for which it is considered the most durable and convenient.

    The folding dryer also supports a decent amount of weight, but has a slightly different design. It can recline at any angle. Folding or unfolding takes seconds, and you can choose the number and width of the partitions yourself. Often the structure is placed in the bathroom or on the balcony.

    A stationary wall dryer is the most common option. It consists of two planks attached to opposite walls. There are ropes stretched between them. It is most convenient to equip such a device on the balcony. The length of the ropes depends on the dimensions of the balcony; it will also be equal to the length of the ceiling.

    There is also a roller dryer that can make hanging laundry much easier. The slats contain a roller system that allows you to pull the rope, thereby moving it as you hang it.

    Ceiling

    Ceiling dryers have more complex mechanisms than wall dryers and are used less frequently. Their main advantage is saving space. The design and size of such dryers can be made absolutely any way.

    There are several types:

    • The “liana” or “lift” dryer has hanging tubes, which were described above.
    • The ceiling accordion has the same mechanism as the wall-mounted model, only it is fixed to the ceiling. They can use both ropes and tubes.

    • Hanging. It is designed for drying lightweight clothes and has a very primitive device: a hook with a bar on which clothespins can be additionally attached. Usually these are short-lived models made of plastic, but there are more reliable variations made of metal and wood.

    Floor-standing

    Floor-mounted folding dryers are mobile and can be placed in any room. In addition, when folded they take up minimal space. The configuration of such models can be completely different. But the main elements are unchanged: the frame (of various shapes), fixed legs attached to it and a latch that prevents the dryer from suddenly folding. Some models have wheels for easy movement.

    Floor dryers have many important advantages:

    • There is no need to install and assemble the structure; you can start using it immediately after purchase.
    • When folded, the dryer takes up very little space and can fit in a pantry or closet. For small apartments this is a significant plus.
    • Most models can withstand heavy loads.
    • Standard models can be purchased at a fairly low price.
    • Structures made from quality materials can last for many years even with frequent use.
    • The lightness of the design allows you to easily carry it if necessary.

    The only disadvantages include the long process of drying clothes. This can be reduced by placing the dryer in a well-ventilated area.

    Floor dryers can be vertical. In them, planes with ropes are located one above the other. Their height can be adjusted and reaches two meters. Such models are called whatnots; they are often installed in shower stalls.

    Portable

    Portable dryers are suitable for small apartments (rooms). They are convenient due to their compactness and can be installed on a radiator, bathtub, door, cabinet. The only negative is that you won’t be able to dry a lot of things at once.

    Electrical

    If you need quick drying, electric models are perfect. In them, the process goes faster, compared to rope structures, due to heating.

    Electric clothes dryers for the bathroom are very popular today. The structure does not need to be connected to a hot water supply, unlike a standard towel dryer (coil). All you need is network access.

    The main feature of electric drying is the heating element located in mineral or natural oil. Other liquid may be used. The main thing is that it conducts heat well.

    Thanks to the oil, the tubes heat up evenly, and wet things dry very quickly.

    Owners of such models highlight the following advantages:

    • The laundry acquires a pleasant aroma after drying.
    • The heating temperature can be adjusted.
    • You can purchase a model with an ultraviolet lamp or ionizer included.
    • The dryer can be installed anywhere in the bathroom, because its device is not connected to a pipeline and does not depend on the supply of hot water.
    • The operating time is adjusted manually.
    • The temperature inside the tubes does not rise above 60 degrees. This allows you to gently dry delicate fabrics without getting burned when touched.
    • An electric dryer can be useful as an additional heat source.

    Of course, some fabrics cannot be dried in such devices. But this is often written on the item’s tag.

    The only disadvantages include electricity consumption, but many note that the advantages of the device compensate for this nuance.

    Bath dryers

    There are miniature models of dryers that need to be installed directly on the bathtub. They usually have rubber tips on the legs, which secure the structure well and prevent it from rolling off the edges.

    In principle, this dryer is similar to a sliding floor model, only after use it is removed. They are also called umbrella models. On average, they can withstand up to 10 kilograms of wet clothes.

    Battery dryers

    Such miniature options are well suited for drying small items throughout the heating season. The heat from the radiators dries fairly quickly without any cost. Battery dryers can replace the electric model in winter. They are small in size and can be stored anywhere.

    The first thing you should pay attention to when choosing such a dryer is the attachment mechanism to the radiator. Many apartments still have old-style batteries in the form of an accordion, and not every one of them is suitable for attaching such a structure. First you need to measure the battery and compare its length with the length of the dryer. It is also worth considering that a low-quality dryer can deteriorate under the influence of high temperatures emanating from the battery.

    Drum dryer

    Externally, this dryer is very similar to a regular washing machine. The mechanism includes a drum in which clothes are dried. Drum dryers dry faster than all other types - from 30 minutes to an hour. But there is a nuance: clothes and linen will be very wrinkled after drying this way, and it will be more difficult to smooth them out.

    Another controversial issue is the need to connect the drum dryer to the sewer system to be able to remove moisture. This requires additional financial costs and the involvement of specialists.

    Mounting methods

    If we consider the models based on the method of their fastening, then there are few options. The design can be built into the wall, suspended from the ceiling, or be mobile.

    Hanging dryer

    The structure consists of plastic tubes with ropes stretched inside them. The dryer is attached to the ceiling, and the slats can be easily lowered to hang laundry and then raised by pulling the necessary ropes. The mechanism can be mounted both above the bathtub and on the balcony.

    Stationary dryer

    The easiest option for making it yourself: the required number of hooks are attached to opposite walls, and clotheslines are stretched between them. The tension can always be adjusted.

    Stationary includes any model that is attached to the wall (panels) and does not move. For those who do not like the suspended ceiling system, they came up with hangers for the balcony, which are removed from the hooks after the laundry has dried.

    Materials

    The material from which the dryer is made is of great importance. The service life of the product, its strength and susceptibility to moisture depend on it. There are several most common options:

    • Aluminum dryers. They are light, but not stable enough. To prevent aluminum from turning black over time, manufacturers cover models with a layer of polymer. But this coating, as practice shows, cracks after some time.
    • Stainless steel dryers. This material is ideal for such structures. Moreover, both the body and the strings can be made from steel. It is very strong and durable. The disadvantages include its heavy weight (which will increase stability for floor-standing models) and cost.

    • Plastic dryers. The plastic option will not last long, but it is good because it is cheap and light. Often, models are used for drying light items (socks or underwear).

    • Wooden dryers. From an aesthetic point of view, these are the most stylish models. But to extend their service life, the board must be regularly coated with protective solutions.
    • Combined. Multi-material dryers are less common and are often homemade.

    How to do it yourself?

    If you have the necessary tools in your apartment, you can assemble the dryer yourself.

    Here are step-by-step instructions for making the simplest design:

    • First you need to attach two wooden planks to opposite walls (for example, on a balcony).
    • Then you need to screw ring-screws into these strips. You will need two pieces for each rope (one on each side). The number of rings in a row depends on personal wishes and the length of the strips.
    • In order for the screws to fit well, you must first make holes for them. The diameter should be slightly smaller than the screws themselves. These holes must be thoroughly cleaned before screwing in.
    • If there are gaps near the screws, they must be sealed to increase the strength of the entire structure.

    For a homemade dryer of this type, you can not cut the rope into pieces, but simply take a whole one and stretch it through all the rings. Before starting, it is important to carefully inspect the walls of the balcony for cracks and voids. If there are any, it is necessary to seal them, otherwise the wet laundry may one day overwhelm and the entire structure will collapse. It is also advisable to make markings on the walls, taking into account the future location of the dryer.

    It can take an hour to an hour and a half to make and only requires rope, a couple of wooden planks and about ten screws. Any housewife can handle this kind of work.

    Making a folding dryer will be more difficult. But, following the step-by-step instructions, you can do it pretty quickly. For such a design you will need wooden planks, rods, a sheet of plywood or plasterboard, furniture hinges, hooks, fasteners and paint.

    Procedure:

    • First you need to drill holes in the opposite parts of the frame, which in diameter will be equal to the cross-section of the rods.
    • The rods are inserted into the holes. They can be thinned at the ends to make them easier to fix.
    • Next, you need to assemble the frame, fastening the elements together with nails.
    • The base of the dryer is prepared, which should be 12-15 cm longer and wider than the frame.
    • The bottom bar of the frame must be attached to the base using furniture hinges.
    • Then the entire structure must be painted with water-based paint and wait until it dries completely.

    • A latch is attached to the side opposite the hinges for fixation.
    • A folding structure is installed. It is important to determine the optimal angle for the mechanism so that the folding bed does not take up too much space.
    • Next you need to hang hooks for small items on the side of the frame.
    • The dryer is attached to the wall using screws.

    You can decorate the product by painting the rods in different colors. It is important to choose shades that will harmonize with the design of the entire room/balcony.

    You can also make a floor dryer with your own hands, which in its design is very similar to a table-book. It may seem that such a design is quite difficult to make, but it is not.

    For production you will need:

    • plastic-lined chipboard or MDF boards (two sides - 60 by 20 cm and two on top and bottom - 70 by 20 cm);
    • self-tapping screws;
    • any parts that act as handles;
    • steel pipes for hanging laundry (20 by 2 mm and 18 by 2 mm);
    • stainless steel rods (10-12 pcs);
    • steel pipes for a support that will recline (6 pcs);
    • steel pipes for the frame (4 pieces 60 cm each and 4 pieces 70 cm each);
    • steel pipe 18 by 2 mm;
    • nuts;
    • corners (4 pcs);
    • wheels (4 pcs).

    Procedure:

    • The boards forming the future frame must be fixed together using steel corners and self-tapping screws.
    • Wheels are mounted to the bottom of the structure.
    • Next you need to connect the entire body using ties on the top. To make the frame and body you will need hinges.
    • The next step is to connect the rods and frame. It is important to maintain the same distance between parts.

    To avoid rust, it is advisable to paint the assembled dryer. The structure will regularly come into contact with moisture; it is important to extend its service life by painting. First, the entire surface must be degreased (for example, with acetone) and coated with a primer. The best option would be car or acrylic paint applied in two layers.

    This product can be placed in the bathroom, kitchen or any living room. If necessary, it can be folded and put away in a matter of seconds.

    Which is better?

    There are main characteristics that you should pay attention to when buying a clothes dryer:

    • Working surface area. It is the sum of the lengths of all the rods (ropes) in the unfolded state. The higher this value, the more massive and expensive the model will be.
    • Number of rods (ropes). Their number determines the width of the model.
    • The presence of tiers and their number. Multi-tiered designs allow you to place a lot of laundry at once and save space. But their cost will be appropriate.
    • Maximum load. This indicator is determined by the type of design and material of manufacture. Accordingly, the greater the load the model can withstand, the longer it will last. The simplest wall-mounted dryers can usually withstand about 7-10 kg of clothes, while floor-mounted folding and “liana” dryers can hold up to 25 kg.
    • Additional details. These include transport rollers on floor structures, which make them easier to move. Wheels are usually made of rubber or plastic.

    Plastic wheels coated with rubber are more practical because they will not leave marks on the floor. They should be accompanied by a fastener so that after moving the dryer does not roll away.

    • The presence of compartments for drying shoes. Standard dryers with large distances between the strings are not very convenient for placing shoes. Therefore, if you plan to dry your shoes every day, you should take care of the presence of such compartments in advance.
    • When choosing a dryer, you need to clearly know the future location of its installation. For balconies, “lianas” and conventional ceiling mechanisms are more suitable. For placement in the room - floor dryers.
    • When purchasing, it is important to pay attention to the quality of fasteners and ropes. These are precisely the details on which the strength of the structure and its service life directly depend.

    Attention should be paid not only to the material and size of the dryer, but also to its design. It is clear that this item is completely household, but modern manufacturers sometimes design it as a full-fledged decorative element, so that it is not immediately possible to guess its intended purpose.

    If the location of the dryer is a closed balcony, then you need to take into account some factors in advance:

    • dimensions of the balcony and its heating capacity;
    • the maximum weight of the laundry that is planned to be dried;
    • wall and ceiling finishing materials, repair features.

    If it is quite cold on the balcony, then you should not mount the structure very close to the ceiling, otherwise your clothes will freeze. The thickness and quality of fasteners directly depends on the weight of the items that will be dried. For lightweight clothing, regular ropes and plastic bases are suitable. Blankets or winter clothing require thick ropes and a metal frame.

    The material from which the house is built also matters. The fact is that it is quite difficult to make ceiling holes in panel buildings, and for concrete walls you will need special nuts.

    The following rules must be observed when using dryers:

    • If you plan to hang heavy bed linen on a ceiling dryer, then you should not opt for models with aluminum slats. Most likely, they will not withstand the load and will simply bend.
    • Before finally installing the dryer on the balcony, you can fully open the windows and check whether they will touch the hanging laundry in the future. This is relevant for owners of spacious balconies, where this can be avoided.
    • After each use, the entire structure of the dryer must be wiped first with a damp cloth, then with a dry one.
    • If the dimensions of your apartment or bathroom are very small, then you should pay attention to vertical dryers. They do not leave scratches on the floor, take up minimal space, and are easy to assemble.
    • It is important to thoroughly wring the laundry before hanging it. This will reduce the load on the dryer and keep the floor clear of water that might drip from clothes.
    • Metal structures may develop rust with frequent use. At the first sign of it, you must immediately treat the area with an anti-corrosion solution, or better yet, lubricate the entire dryer.

    • When purchasing a dryer, it is very important to consider the distance between the ropes (rods, tubes). The greater this distance, the faster the laundry will dry and the more convenient it will be to hang it. The optimal distance is 7-9 mm. If this value is less, things will touch each other, and this will significantly increase the time for them to dry completely. In addition, some items fade and need to be hung separately.
    • It is not recommended to buy a dryer whose rods are attached by welding, because this most often leads to corrosion. An excellent alternative would be rolling and plastic caps at the joints. With this system, puffs will not form on clothes.
    • If you do not plan to put the dryer away for a long time, then you can make sure that it fits into the interior of the room by matching the color of the model to the tiles, furniture or curtains.
    • Another nice bonus is that drying things indoors in winter humidifies the air well.

    • To extend the life of your dryer, it is important to monitor how the ropes are worn or structural parts fail. This is especially true for plastic models, which wear out much faster than metal ones. A good manufacturer will make parts subject to wear in such a way that they are easy to replace.
    • The most common faults are bracket deformation and gear wear. Again, this is very common with plastic models. You can buy similar parts and carry out the repairs yourself. The only tools you need are pliers and a screwdriver.
    • To replace the roller wheel, you need to pull out the pin that holds it. The new gear must be secured using the same rod.
    • There is nothing difficult about replacing the cords: they pass through the bracket just as easily as during initial assembly.
    • If you periodically hear a creaking sound when using the dryer, it would be a good idea to lubricate the friction points with technical oil. It’s just important not to overdo it and wipe off the residue so as not to stain your clothes.
    • The easiest way to solve the problem of a broken bracket is to buy a new dryer.
    • If you can’t fix the dryer yourself, you can trust experienced technicians. They will quickly select the right part and save time.

    • If you have a lot of clothes made from delicate fabrics in your wardrobe, you should pay attention to electric dryers with a built-in thermostat. This way you can reduce the risk of damage to a minimum.
    • If there is a need to dry hats, when choosing a model, you should pay attention to the presence of additional holders for small items.
    • Some models even provide air ionization function. For this purpose, an ultraviolet lamp is built into the design.
    • Although manufacturers assure that their products are completely safe, it is better to play it safe and not allow children to turn on and off electric models on their own. But often the maximum temperature of such models does not exceed 60 degrees, and there is no risk of getting burned.
    • If you plan to place the electric dryer on the balcony, then it is worth waterproofing it first to prevent moisture from entering the mechanism from the outside.
    • When choosing an automatic dryer, you need to pay attention to the labeling, which indicates the energy consumption of a particular model. The letter “A” denotes the most economical models, the letter “G” denotes the most energy-consuming and powerful.

    If there is no need for maximum power, choosing a model with an average rating would be optimal. This will allow you to enjoy all the benefits of the device and not overload the wiring.

    • If the issue of saving space is urgent, then you can give preference to installing a dryer outside the apartment, i.e., an outdoor option. Often it is installed on the outside of the balcony. This option is not very convenient because:
    • The ability to dry clothes directly depends on the weather.
    • There is no certainty that clothes will not be blown away by a strong gust of wind
    • From an aesthetic point of view, such a design does not decorate the apartment at all.

    • It is important that all existing dryer mounts are metal. Many manufacturers make them plastic, but this only saves money on manufacturing and shortens the life of the structure.
    • In a creeper type dryer, the wires can be metal or nylon. And here it is worth making a choice in favor of metal ones. But if you still choose nylon ones, then for a long service life they should be no thinner than 3 mm in diameter.
    • In order to understand the design and equip it correctly, you need to read the instructions. Even if the manufacturer is foreign, the inserts must be duplicated in Russian. If the instructions are unclear or completely absent, you should think about the integrity of the manufacturer and the quality of the product.
    • Particular attention should be paid to the mounting bolts. Often the kit includes plastic dowels and fairly short bolts. With tube lengths exceeding 1200 mm, the length of the bolts may simply not be enough for reliable fixation. Therefore, when purchasing a massive model, it is better to immediately take care of strength and buy good anchor bolts.

    • When caring for electric dryers, be sure to wipe the edges of the air ducts with a simple cloth (napkin) without using detergents or chemicals.
    • The rotation of the tank in a drum dryer can be one-way or two-way. The latter ensures uniform drying of clothes and speeds up the drying process itself. It is important that the tank is made of stainless steel or other durable metal, otherwise the dryer will not last long.
    • Every automatic dryer has a filter. Threads, lint, wool and other small parts accumulate in it. When choosing, you need to take into account that this filter is fairly easy to get out, because it will have to be cleaned regularly by hand.
    • Some automatic dryers even have an ironing mode. Things rotate in the drum in a certain way, are blown with cold air and come out of the dryer completely ready for use.

    Manufacturers and reviews

    It’s easier to decide on a suitable option after familiarizing yourself with the most popular models from the best manufacturers. Pay attention to the detailed characteristics of high-quality dryers with different functionality.

    Gimi Lift 160

    This wall-ceiling dryer will help you make the most of the space above your bathtub. It has a fairly strong frame and reliable fastenings. Manufacturing materials: stainless steel (brackets and rods), plastic (rollers) and textiles (hanging cords). This model does not require special care, just wipe it occasionally. It is not afraid of humidity, which is why many people install it in the bathroom.

    The brackets are attached to the wall or ceiling. The roller mechanism allows you to hang clothes quickly and easily by lowering the plastic rods one at a time. The total length of the entire surface for linen is 9.5 meters and can accommodate up to 15 kg of linen. There are no creases left on the clothes after drying thanks to the rods with a diameter of 1.2 cm.

    This model is most often installed in the bathroom, but it is also quite suitable for the balcony. The durable design, when properly installed and maintained, allows the dryer to serve for many years.

    Gimi "Dinamik 30"

    Floor-standing model made of stainless steel. Suitable for installation in any room. The total length of the steel slats is 27 meters. The package includes doors that can be opened, thereby increasing the usable surface area. The drying rack can be pulled apart to hang curtains or bed linen.

    Protective corners are attached to the legs to prevent scratches on the floor. The dimensions of the dryer when unfolded are 198 (258) cm by 57 cm by 102 cm. When folded, they are 116 cm by 57 cm by 10.5 cm.

    Gimi Extension

    Another variation of the floor model from the manufacturer Gimi. The dryer is equipped with a telescopic sliding system, wheels and plastic holders for small items. The impressive maximum load is 25 kg, the total length of the working slats is 20 meters. The model is made of stainless steel with a polymer coating and weighs 5.35 kg. The dryer folds easily and when assembled does not take up much space.

    Eurogold EK Stabilo

    This model is chosen by those who often wash and dry a lot of things. It is especially relevant for large families, where washing becomes a daily activity. This dryer is a floor-standing design and has a folding mechanism. It can be installed in any corner of the apartment.

    The design consists of three main elements: a central large compartment, including 8 durable rods, and two compartments on the edges for hanging smaller items (each with 5 rods).

    The useful length of this model is 16 m, and the maximum load is 20 kg. The metal structure will not bend under the weight of wet laundry. There are also a couple of plastic parts included, but they are placed on the legs and serve to protect the floor from scratches. The dimensions of the dryer are 128 cm by 55 cm by 101 cm.

    Lakmet Liana

    This dryer is very compact, but at the same time it has 10 meters of useful length and is often installed in the bathroom or on the balcony under the ceiling. The model includes 5 rods with a rather impressive diameter of 1.2 cm. This allows you to dry clothes without creases. The structure itself is mounted to the ceiling using plastic brackets with rollers, and the rods are positioned horizontally.

    The model is convenient because the height of the rods is adjustable, which makes hanging laundry easier. This miniature dryer can withstand a load of up to 7.5 kg and is quite suitable for drying bed linen.

    Artmoon Blues

    This model is famous for the size of its useful space - more than 20 meters. It consists of 6 ropes 3.6 m long. Such dimensions allow you to dry several sets of bed linen at once. The most interesting thing is that you can choose the length of the ropes yourself, based on the size of the bathroom or balcony. The tension level can also be selected and fixed.

    The model is equipped with a special mechanism that allows the ropes to be completely retracted. Thus, you can “hide” the dryer in any room. Its parts are attached to opposite walls using screws and dowels. Durable polyester ropes can withstand loads of up to 15 kg.

    Leifheit Tower 190

    The floor dryer has one main fundamental difference from other models – its vertical design. This feature allows it to be placed in a shower stall. The dimensions of the model are 160 cm by 60 cm by 60 cm. The model is quite narrow, and this feature limits its functionality. The maximum load is only 6 kg (about the same as a standard automatic dryer), but the average cost of such models is higher than that of conventional folding dryers.

    Foppapedretti Peter-Panni

    This dryer has an interesting feature - the frame is made of natural beech. The height of the structure is also noticeably different from the standard one - 174 cm. There are folding surfaces with slats on the sides and in the center.

    Design advantages:

    • When folded, it has very compact dimensions - 18 cm by 50 cm.
    • The total length of the useful surface is 25 meters.
    • The diameter of the tubes is 8 mm, which prevents creases in the fabric.
    • Wheels with protective nylon pads allow you to move the dryer without harming the floor.
    • The middle shelf can be used as a table on which it is convenient to fold laundry removed from the side surfaces.

    Flaws:

    • has an impressive weight of 7.8 kg:
    • The average cost is quite high:
    • In working condition it takes up quite a lot of space.

    Leifheit Rollquick

    This stretch dryer is very compact and when folded it looks like a small plastic case. Its dimensions are 7 cm by 8 cm by 50 cm. The structure can be attached to a wall in the bathroom or any other room: it will be practically invisible.

    Before hanging the laundry, you need to pull out the crossbar with 5 thick strings and hook it to the hooks on the opposite wall.

    Design advantages:

    • It does not spoil the overall appearance of the room when folded.
    • The degree of tension of the cords can be adjusted.
    • Maximum load – 7 kg. For the existing dimensions this is a very good indicator.
    • The strings rewind automatically.
    • The product is sold at an affordable price.

    Flaws:

    • The cords begin to sag over time.
    • It is not always convenient to adjust the tension of the strings due to the fact that they are connected together.

    Granchio-Household Calabria

    A generally accepted universal model. It was designed to be attached to a wall, but can be fixed in a horizontal plane. The set includes 6 slats of 160 cm each, which are secured with nylon cords. They allow you to lower and raise the crossbars to the desired height.

    Design advantages:

    • The design is as simple and durable as possible.
    • The tube-shaped crossbars do not leave creases on clothing.
    • The slats are coated with an anti-corrosion compound.
    • All necessary fasteners are included in the kit.
    • Low cost. Literally everyone can afford such a dryer.

    Flaws:

    • White cords get dirty quite quickly and lose their presentable appearance.
    • The product is not suitable for drying blankets or bed linen.

    Badoogi All Mom 2

    This convertible drying rack on wheels is equipped with three shelves with 6 slats on each of them. The dimensions of the model are 143 cm by 64 cm. The total length of the surface used is 20 meters.

    The package includes additional plastic holders on which you can hang 10 more hangers. This is very convenient if you have items made of delicate materials in your wardrobe that cannot be dried using the usual method.

    Design advantages:

    • The reliable frame can withstand loads of up to 30 kg.
    • The height of the beams can be independently adjusted and fixed in the desired position.
    • Thanks to the wheels, the model is easy to move.
    • When folded, the width is only 22cm. You can store it simply by leaning it against the wall or hiding it in a closet.
    • The set includes 72 hooks for securing small items.
    • The impressive distance between the bars - 7 cm - allows things to dry faster.
    • The structure weighs only 4.6 kg.

    The disadvantage is that all fasteners and holders are made of plastic, which cannot guarantee a long service life of the structure.

    Termolux CD 302 STR

    This is a fairly popular electric folding model. It has the familiar design of a table dryer with folding wings, but it dries things much faster thanks to the built-in electric heater.

    Design advantages:

    • The side parts rise quite high, which allows you to dry large items (for example, long curtains).
    • The strings are heated to an optimal temperature of 50-55 degrees Celsius.
    • The maximum load of the dryer is 15 kg, which is a very good indicator for electric models.
    • Economical energy consumption – about 0.22 kW.
    • The total length of the working surface is 12.5 meters.
    • The price of the product is quite affordable compared to other electric dryers.

    The downside is that things dry unevenly - they quickly become dry on top and remain damp on the bottom. This happens because heating occurs only in the area of the strings.

    Beautiful examples

    • A telescopic wall dryer is an excellent option for placement above the radiator. When folded, such a model will not attract unnecessary attention, but when unfolded it can accommodate a sufficient amount of laundry.

    • The design of the folding floor dryer is very interesting. Such a thing is more of a decoration than a practical household item: using wood for the frame of the dryer is undesirable. But such a model, even with things hung on it, looks very stylish and original.

    • The model, which is popularly called a whatnot, has a shelf for drying shoes, which is very practical. Of course, the bookcase is not intended for hanging bed linen, but it is great for drying simple clothes. It’s also nice that the design folds down to a very small size.

    • A dryer that attaches only to the bathtub is often used to dry small towels or rags. It is quite convenient because the water flows directly into the bathtub, and there is no need to put anything underneath or constantly wipe the floor.
    • The folding design is convenient primarily due to its vertical location and the ability to place clothes directly on hangers. This is useful when drying clothes that cannot be dried normally.

    • The dryer with a folding design looks very stylish and complements the interior favorably. When folded, you can't even see that it's a dryer.
    • The standard design of a liana dryer looks interesting. If you match the color of the model to the interior decoration of the balcony, then when folded it will hardly stand out.

    Clothes dryers, the popularity of which has noticeably increased, allow you to avoid many inconveniences: washed clothes do not have to be hung throughout the apartment, they dry faster, wrinkle less and do not get in the way. The ease of use of a dryer largely depends on the design itself, its size, functionality, and material of manufacture.

    To choose the best option, you should become more familiar with the types of dryers, their pros and cons, as well as installation methods.

    Modern clothes dryers come in a wide range - from standard bars on racks to electric models with several temperature settings. They differ not only in shape and size, but also in the installation method; in addition, each dryer is designed for certain loads. Most models are made of aluminum, stainless steel and plastic, although wooden products are also quite in demand.

    Depending on the design, dryers can be installed on the floor or sides of the bathtub, mounted on a wall or ceiling. It is the installation method that is the most important criterion when choosing a model, and in order not to make a mistake, it is better to study the main characteristics of each type in advance.

    Floor models

    A floor dryer is usually a folding frame with horizontal rods or stretched metal strings on which laundry is hung. When unfolded, the dryer takes up quite a lot of space (especially designs with additional modules), but it allows you to conveniently place a large number of things. When assembled, the thickness of the dryer does not exceed 10 cm, and it can easily be pushed between the bathtub and the washing machine. On average, such models can withstand about 20 kg of wet laundry, and the weight of the structure itself is no more than 3.5-4 kg.

    In addition to standard horizontal dryers, there are multi-tiered shelf-type models on sale, which also fold and are equipped with wheels for ease of movement. When unfolded, they take up less space than horizontal ones and are ideal for drying small items - underwear, socks, shirts, blouses, and so on.

    Advantages of floor structures:

    • ease of use and durability;
    • light weight;
    • excellent capacity;
    • the dryer can be placed in any convenient place;
    • there is no need to install fasteners.

    There is only one downside to such dryers - they take up usable space, and for a small apartment this is a very pressing problem.

    Floor clothes dryers

    Wall models

    Wall-mounted dryers are much more convenient to use. They are guides with crossbars for hanging laundry. Wall structures can be telescopic, sliding, with height adjustment of the crossbars. There are compact models with a spring drum in the body, which allow you to stretch the strings between opposite walls. Things hung at the top do not interfere with the use of the bathroom, unless it is bed linen, and after assembly, the dryer fits harmoniously into the interior and is not an eyesore.

    Advantages:

    • compact dimensions;
    • ease and convenience of operation;
    • low price;
    • aesthetic appearance.
    • small capacity;
    • the maximum load should not exceed 7-10 kg, depending on the model;
    • For installation it is necessary to drill the walls.

    Hanging models

    In design, ceiling dryers resemble wall-mounted ones, only their guides are attached to the ceiling. The height of the crossbars is adjustable; when hanging laundry, you can easily lower them to the desired level and then pull them up again. Moreover, each crossbar can move independently of the others, which makes operating the dryer even more convenient. As a rule, such structures are mounted above the bathtub so that puddles from drops from wet laundry do not form on the floor.

    • hanging things do not take up useful space and almost do not interfere with the use of the bathroom;
    • dryers are compact in size and aesthetically pleasing;
    • the designs are easy to use.

    The disadvantage of such dryers is the complexity of installation. The fastenings must be as strong and reliable as possible, as well as the ceilings, so that the entire structure does not fall down under the weight of wet things.

    Bath dryers

    These dryers are collapsible lightweight frames with thin tubes or strings. They can be laid out horizontally on top of the bathtub or placed at an angle on opposite sides. To prevent the racks from slipping, they have special plastic clamps. There are also models that are hung from the side on the side or on the heating radiator. They are very small and are mainly used for drying towels, socks, and underwear.

    The advantages of such dryers include only light weight and ease of operation; as for convenience and functionality, here they noticeably lose. You can’t hang much on these structures, and they are not suitable for drying bed linen. In addition, while things are drying, there is no opportunity to take a bath, since the dryer is located directly above it.

    Electric dryers

    Electric dryers are no less in demand than conventional ones, even despite their high cost. They are indispensable if you need to quickly dry a jacket, warm sweater, blanket and other similar items that under normal conditions will take several days to dry. Electric models are also very diverse and can be floor-mounted, wall-mounted, or suspended. Most of them are equipped with thermostats, which allows you to select the optimal drying mode, depending on the type of laundry. There are also dryers with electronic timers, thanks to which you can regulate the duration of operation of the device. Such dryers consume very little electricity, operate almost silently, and can withstand loads of about 15 kg.

    Electric clothes dryers

    When choosing a dryer, special attention should be paid to the material of manufacture. Stainless steel products are rightfully considered the most practical and durable. They do not lose their appearance over time, withstand the heaviest loads, do not leave stains on things and are easily cleaned of plaque.

    Powder-coated aluminum models also look great at first, but with intensive use, the coating begins to peel off, and the aluminum leaves dark marks on the laundry.

    Plastic products are the most affordable and look attractive, but their service life is quite limited. And you can’t put a lot of load on them, otherwise the plastic case will quickly break. Over time, such dryers lose their attractive appearance, the plastic turns yellow, and the strings sag.

    As for wooden dryers, with proper care they can last a very long time; in addition, such models most often have an original shape and look harmonious in the bathroom interior. But if you have to do laundry often and in large quantities, it is better to abandon a wooden dryer in favor of a metal one.

    When choosing, you need to pay attention to the quality of the connections, the density of the coating, and the ease of movement of the elements. The strings or rods should not be arranged too densely: the optimal distance is 7-10 cm, but if it is less, then things will touch each other and take longer to dry. There should be no sharp protrusions, weld marks, stains, or roughness on the dryer frame. If the base shows through the coating, it is better to refuse such a purchase - very soon the paint will begin to peel off.

    In a high-quality dryer, all elements have an even color, a smooth, even surface, the tubes at the ends are closed with plugs, as are the connection points. The packaging must indicate the package contents, all dimensions, weight, and installation instructions are required.

    Options for installing a clothes dryer in the bathroom

    Installing a dryer in a bathroom does not require any special knowledge or skills, so the installation is not at all difficult. The order of fastening the elements may differ slightly depending on the design of the product, so before installation you should carefully read the manufacturer’s instructions. Most often, mistakes are made when installing ceiling dryers, and therefore we will consider the options for their installation in more detail.

    Installation of dryer "Liana"

    Before starting work, all elements of the dryer must be laid out on the table and the contents checked. Fasteners are usually included in the kit, but they are not always reliable, and many craftsmen prefer to buy them separately. In addition to the dryer itself, you will need a pencil, a hammer and a drill with appropriate drill bits - for concrete and tiles.

    Step 1. Choose the optimal location for the dryer and make marks on the ceiling with a pencil. To do this, take brackets with rollers, apply them to the ceiling and mark points through the mounting holes. The brackets should be parallel to each other, at the same level, and the distance between them should correspond to the length of the dryer rods.

    Step 2. Drill holes in the ceiling, blow out dust, and hammer in dowels tightly. Next, screw the brackets with screws and close the recesses from the fasteners with special plugs included in the package.

    Step 3. A bracket is attached to the wall parallel to the brackets to secure the cords. It should be located approximately at a height of 1.3-1.5 m from the floor, strictly horizontally. Fastening occurs in exactly the same way: points for fasteners are marked through the holes, drilled, dowels are inserted and screws are screwed in. If the wall is tiled, use a spear-shaped drill with a pobedit tip, otherwise the tile may crack.

    Step 4. Carefully lay out the cords on a flat surface and begin to attach them to each rod one by one. To do this, tie a tight knot at the end, place the cord in the groove on the rod and forcefully pull the knot inward. All other cords are secured in the same way.

    Step 5. Begin assembling the dryer. The cords must be pulled through the holes in both brackets. If the fixing bracket is located on the right side, assembly begins with the left bracket, and vice versa. It is not very easy to push the cord itself into the hole, so for convenience you can use a piece of wire, bending it into a hook or a long loop. The free end of the cord is pulled through two fixing caps.

    Step 6. The first rod is pulled up, after which the upper cap is fixed with a knot on the cord and inserted into the cutout on the bracket. Repeat the steps with the remaining hangers so that they are all located on the same level.

    Step 7 Next, I determine the lower level of the rods, at which it is most convenient to hang the laundry, and tie one more knot. The knots are pulled into the lower caps, and the remaining pieces of the cord are cut off. After this, the suspensions are pulled back to their original position.

    Installation of the Fortuna dryer

    The “Fortuna” model is a structure made of metal brackets with rollers on which two movable aluminum profiles are mounted. Using a simple mechanism and steel cables, the profiles are easily raised and lowered to the desired height, independently of each other. The profiles along the entire length have special holes for hangers, which are convenient for drying clothes.

    The brackets are attached to the ceiling, and the guide roller and control unit are placed on the wall. First, you need to choose the most convenient location of the dryer relative to the bathtub, so that the water from the laundry flows directly into it and does not form puddles on the floor. After this, you can proceed directly to the installation.

    Step 1. On the ceiling, mark the mounting points for the brackets with a pencil, 2 for each. They should form a rectangle with sides of 1.8-2 m and 0.4-0.6 m. The mounting locations of the control unit and guide roller are also marked on the wall strictly along one vertical line.

    Step 2. Holes of appropriate depth are drilled according to the marks, and the brackets with rollers and the control unit are screwed in using anchors.

    Step 3. The end of the steel cable is carefully pulled into the holder (crab), a strong knot is tied at the end and pulled inward. The second end of the cable should be threaded into the plastic clamp and lining that comes with the dryer, and then pulled through the roller located on the opposite side of the control unit.

    Step 4. The pad is moved close to the roller, clamped with the clamp until it stops, and the crab is pulled up on the cable so that it rests tightly against the clamp. After this, the cable is passed from the outside of the double roller and through the guide roller.

    Step 5. You need to unscrew the cap on the control unit so that the lock washer located inside does not fall out. The free end of the cable is threaded through this cap, bent into a loop and brought out through the same hole. Now the cable is pulled in the opposite direction, but from the inside of both rollers. In this case, the double roller should be turned towards the guide.

    Step 6. Decorative pads are secured under each roller one by one, then the crabs are put on and the length of the cable is adjusted so that when the crabs are at the very top, the distance between the control unit and the middle of the loop does not exceed 10 cm. After this, the free end of the cable is cut off.

    Step 7 A lock washer is inserted into the middle of the loop and, holding it with your fingers, tighten the cable into the cap. Using the handle on the control unit, the cable is slightly unwinded so that the cap can be screwed on.

    Making your own clothes dryer

    For homemade dryers, wooden slats, PVC pipes, metal corners and other available materials can be used. There are a lot of options for such designs, from simple to the most complex, and the choice depends only on your skill and experience. As an example, let’s look at making a dryer from corners, which any novice craftsman can make.

    To work you will need:

    • 2 steel corners 25x25 mm and about 1 m long;
    • Grover washers with a diameter of 20-30 mm;
    • drill with a set of drills;
    • level and pencil;
    • anchor bolts;
    • braided steel cable or durable laundry cord.

    Step 1. Take a corner and drill holes in one shelf for fasteners at a distance of 50 mm from the ends and in the middle. In the other shelf, holes with a diameter of 6 mm are drilled in increments of 10 cm, departing from the ends by about 2-3 cm. The second corner is processed in the same way.

    Linen brackets

    Step 2. The prepared corners are thoroughly sanded and painted to give the dryer an aesthetic appearance. The paint must be anti-corrosion, because the dryer will constantly be in conditions of high humidity.

    Step 3. When the paint has dried, apply the corner to the wall to determine the most convenient height. The level is set horizontally and marks are made with a pencil through the holes in the shelf. In the same way, mark the second corner on the opposite wall. All marks must be at the same level, otherwise the dryer will be skewed.

    Step 4. In the marked places, drill holes, clean them from dust, apply a corner and fix it to the wall with anchor bolts. Then screw the second corner.

    Step 5. A cord is pulled between the guides, threaded through the washers and the ends are secured with knots so that they do not slip out.
