What time do night prayers take place? Isha namaz (Night prayer). Four benefits that will be granted in Akhirat

Audio version of this article:

In the month of fasting there is one majestic night - Laylatul-qadr, when the worship of the Lord, like any good deeds, even the most mundane, everyday ones, are more significant in terms of Divine reward than those that were performed over a thousand months.

“Verily, We [says the Lord of the worlds] brought it down [the Holy Quran] on Laylatul-qadr (on the Night of Power). And how do you [Muhammad] know what Laylatul-qadr (Night of Power) is?! Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months! Angels descend [to the planet Earth] on this night and ar-rukh [angel Jabrail (Gabriel)] by the permission of their Lord, in every matter. World. (Or: “Peace and tranquility [are established] in every matter this night”). It [this night lasts] until dawn” ().

Explanation and comments to the sura:

1. The fact that at one time the last Scripture - the Holy Quran - was brought down from the Preserved Tablet to the first heavenly level of the seven existing precisely on this night speaks of its indescribable majesty and specialness before the Almighty Creator.

2. The repetition of “Laylatul-qadr” three times is not accidental. This technique in Arabic indicates respect and importance.

3. “Laylatul-qadr” means “Night of Power”. Scientists have made various assumptions about why this time period is named this way. Here are some of them:

- “its power and majesty lies in the fact that the Holy Quran was revealed precisely on this night”;

- “...for the reason that an incredibly huge number of angels descends on this night to Earth”;

- “...the manifestation of grace, mercy and forgiveness by the Lord of the worlds on this night is incomparable with that on other nights in its significance”;

“...a believer who spends this night in prayer acquires, by the grace of the Almighty, an unusually large amount of strength and vital energy.”

Word " al-qadr" can also be translated as " cramped conditions" Taking this meaning into account, theologians said: “On this night, such a huge number of angels descend to earth that they simply feel crowded.”

Another translation is “ limitation" The interpretation from here is the following: awareness and knowledge of which night of the next month of Ramadan will be Laylatul Qadr are limited by the Almighty. The Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) provides only approximate guidelines.

Sometimes “Laylatul-qadr” is interpreted as “ Night of Predestination» . This is the case if the word “frame” is read as “kadar”. Given this interpretation, Islamic scholars supposedly explained: “How a given night is spent by a person praying and with what prayers (heart attitude) he turns to God can significantly influence the next year of a given person’s life, going in parallel and unity with the original all-awareness Creator."

4. “Laylatul-qadr is better than a thousand months!” - when in these months and among many thousands of days there is no night itself, there is no Laylatul-qadr.

The verse directly makes it clear that performing any good deed on this blessed night is more rewarded before God than performing the same good deed or action, even uttering a good word, for a thousand months. This is a manifestation of the Creator’s greatest mercy to people who often forget about Him, forget about eternity and about themselves.

5. “Angels descend on this night” - as they descend from heaven to earth, they become closer to believers.

6. “...And ar-rukh [angel Jabrail (Gabriel)].” The Almighty, first speaking about all the angels, and then highlighting one from this huge number with a separate mention, pointed to the special position of the angel Gabriel (Archangel Gabriel) before Him.

7. “In every matter” - that is, the angels descend both to bring down and carry out the commands of the Almighty, and in order for all those things that should happen in the next year to be established and established.

8. “It [this night lasts] until dawn” - Laylatul Qadr begins immediately after sunset and ends at dawn, that is, with the beginning of the morning prayer Fajr.

There is another mention of Laylatul-qadr in the Holy Quran:

“Verily, We [says the Almighty, pointing to Our greatness, but not plurality] brought it [the Holy Quran] down into the blessed Night. And We, truly, warn (notify) [people with those edifications that We have indicated in the Holy Scriptures, as well as with an explanation of what awaits them on the Day of Judgment, in eternity]. On this Night [Laylatul-qadr] all wise deeds [finally decided and established] will be distinguished [distributed, become obvious, defined]. By Our order. Verily, We send down [bring down]. And this is a manifestation of the mercy of your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Hearing and the All-Knowing" ().

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever stands up for night prayer on Laylatul Qadr, believing in reward and doing it only for the sake of the Almighty, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

As for the Prophet Muhammad himself, Aisha reported that “the Messenger of the Almighty prayed longer in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan (turned the night into something living), woke up his family [to pray], became more strict with himself [did a lot of good things].” .

Among what nights should we expect it?

Firstly, the vast majority of Islamic scholars said that Laylatul Qadr is present in every year and specifically in the month of Ramadan.

Secondly, which night of the month of Ramadan is the Night of Power, before its onset, only the Creator, the Lord of the Worlds, knows unequivocally.

In the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him) there are a considerable number of hadiths that indicate the estimated time limits for the location of this blessed night.

Hadiths about Laylatul-qadr

“Seek the Night of Power [by praying, standing prayers and doing good deeds] in the last ten days of the month of Ramadan”;

“Look for the Night of Power on the odd-numbered days of the last ten days of Ramadan”;

“Whoever seeks the Night of Power, let him seek it among the last seven days”;

“The night of power is the night of the twenty-seventh day”;

“The night of power is the night of the twenty-fourth day”;

“The night of power is the night of the twenty-seventh day or the twenty-ninth. There will be more angels [descending to earth] this night than there are small pebbles [on this entire planet].”

Imam Ibn Hajar, commenting on the title of the chapter “Search for Laylatul-qadr on the odd days of the last ten days” from the collection of Imam al-Bukhari, in which the great muhaddith mentions several hadiths from among those given above, noted: “This title of this chapter seems to indicate that that Laylatul Qadr is located in the month of Ramadan in the last ten days and precisely in the odd ones.”

A significant part of Islamic scholars focused specifically on the night of the twenty-seventh day of the month of Ramadan, saying that this is the most likely time, although not unequivocally. Very often, ceremonial and festive events at both the state and local levels dedicated to this significant event are held on the twenty-seventh day of the month of Ramadan.

Of course, for those who would not like to miss this majestic night, the most prudent would be to pay some attention to each of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan: at a minimum, relying on the mercy of the Almighty, perform an additional prayer, at the end of which turn to the Creator of all things with prayer-du'a and do at least one, albeit not so significant, but good deed in His name, sincerely and selflessly. Even if the next night does not turn out to be the Night of Power, all the same, by the grace of the Creator, our prayers will be accepted and heard, because it was at night, and even more so on one of the nights of the blessed month of Ramadan.

Signs of Laylatul Qadr?

1. This night has its own unusual shine, radiance.

2. This night, according to local climatic conditions, will be neither cold nor hot. That is, the night temperature will be average for a given climate, area and time of year.

3. It will be calm, cloudless and without precipitation.

4. The stars do not fall this night.

5. The next morning after this night the sun will rise clean, without rays, a disk, soft red. Its light will be gentle, non-dazzling, similar to the light of the full moon on a cloudless night.

Why is her time shrouded in mystery?

Perhaps it is hidden so that people do not limit themselves to one night a year, when they try to be far from sin and most alive in heart and soul.

Some famous scholars said: “A person should look for Laylatul Qadr in every night of the year.” That is, revive it with prayers, supplications, thoughts about the worldly and the eternal.

The secrecy and lack of clear certainty in this matter are similar to the unknown date of death, the date of the end of the world. Why? Yes, because, having the opportunity to be pious today, there is no need to leave it for tomorrow, much less for future years and decades!

How to celebrate the Night of Power?

More positive energy in business, at the same time with the ability to listen to your heart, look into the most hidden corners. Read the Holy Qur'an, pray to the Almighty and ask Him for blessings (tawfiq) in subsequent planned deeds, grace (barakat), speaking in the language in which it is easiest for us to express our thoughts, aspirations and wishes.

You can also read the du'a prayer in Arabic. For example, ‘Aisha once asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “What is the best prayer-du‘a to address to the Almighty on Laylatul Qadr?” The Prophet replied: “Say:

Transcription of the dua:

“Allahumma innakya ‘afuvvun tuhibbul-‘afwa fa‘fu‘anni.”

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Translation:

"Oh my God! Verily, You are the Forgiver, you love to forgive. Forgive me!”

The Power of Prayer

“Prayer (prayer, mental or verbal appeal to God) is able to prevent (reflect, remove from the path of life) what is about to happen (determined from Above and seemingly inevitable),” said the Prophet Muhammad (may God bless him and greets).

Another reliable hadith says: “Truly, a person [can] lose his inheritance [of one or another benefit] as a result of committing a sin! Nothing can stop what has already been determined (predetermined) [for example, something bad that is nearby by the will of the Creator or coming straight towards us], except prayer-du'a [nothing can so effectively contribute to the removal of trouble except a heartfelt appeal to God]. Nothing prolongs life so [makes it so blessed] as any manifestation of nobility [kindness, generosity, righteousness].”

Such famous companions of the Prophet Muhammad as 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, Ibn Mas'ud and others often prayed to the Almighty with a wise prayer-du'a filled with deep awe. For example, ‘Umar, walking around the Kaaba, prayed to God with tears in his eyes: “O Lord! If any misfortune, misfortune or sin is written about me (in the Preserved Tablet), then (I ask You) remove it without a trace! After all, You “erase without a trace what You will and strengthen. And You have the Foundation of the Book [Kept Tablet]." Turn this (obviously bad) into happiness, prosperity and forgiveness."

The companion of the Prophet Muhammad Ibn ‘Abbas said: “A believer always expects only good from the Almighty - he prays to Him for help in trouble (in difficult times) and thanks Him in joy (in moments of joy).”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him) often prayed to the Creator with the following prayer-du‘a: “Lord, remove me [with Your blessing and by Your mercy] from worries and worries; from sadness and sadness; from weakness (loss of strength, infirmity, impotence, illness, disability); from laziness (laziness, negligence, boredom); from cowardice, cowardice; from stinginess and greed; from debts that “bend”, bend, break a person with their weight, and [most importantly] from the state of being defeated (from defeats).”

The holy month of Ramadan for Muslims is a time of spiritual purification and improvement. The Night of Predestination Laylatul-qadr is considered the most significant at this time, because the first suras of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad precisely then - in the Hira cave of Mount Jabal an-Nur.

“Verily, We [says the Lord of the worlds] brought it down [the Holy Quran] on Laylatul-qadr (on the Night of Power).
And how do you [Muhammad] know what
Laylatul-qadr (Night of Power)?!
It [this night lasts] until dawn.”
(Holy Quran, 97:1-5)

Traditions and customs of Laylatul-qadr

We will tell you how the Night of Power and Predestination is celebrated in accordance with the traditions that have developed among Muslims over several centuries.

Experiencing hunger, thirst and abstaining from intimacy during the daytime during the month of Ramadan help free believers from the dominance of animal needs and allow them to indulge in reflection on spiritual values. The main thing these days is spiritual improvement: abstaining from sins, doing good deeds.

It is believed that the deeds performed on the Night of Predestination Laylatul Qadr are more significant than those committed over a thousand months, and angels greet believers who turn to the Creator at this time.

When is Laylatul Qadr in 2019?

The night of Laylatul-qadr is special: it is filled with unusual brilliance and radiance. It falls on the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan, many theologians say that its most likely time is from the 26th to the 27th day of the Muslim holy month.

Therefore, we can assume that in 2019 Laylatul-qadr will take place on June 1st. However, exactly what night will become it is known only to the Creator before it begins.

How is the Night of Power and Predestination going?

Muslims read the Holy Quran, forgive the insults inflicted on them, and make plans for the future. Believers also need to perform missed prayers.

At this time, the Almighty predetermines the fate of each person, as well as the difficulties and trials that he will have to go through.

How is the Night of Predestination celebrated? Those who would not like to miss it are recommended to perform additional prayer and at least one good deed during the last ten days of Ramadan.

At this time, believers perform repentance (tawbah) so that Allah forgives them for their sins. The Quran says: “Surely Allah loves those who repent, and He loves those who purify themselves” (Quran, 2/222).

The Night of Predestination, or the Night of Power, is a special holy night for Muslims, which occurs in the month of Ramadan (Ramadan).

The exact date of this night is unknown. It is generally accepted that it usually falls on the last 10 days of the month of fasting and humility, Ramadan. It is expected that this year the Night of Predestination will fall on the night of June 21-22, reports Sputnik Kazakhstan.

History and meaning of the Night of Predestination

The name of the blessed night in Arabic sounds like Laylatul-Qadr or Al-Qadr, which translated into Russian is the Night of Predestination and Power. The definition of Kadyr tun is common among Kazakhs.

Scientists give different interpretations to the word "frame", some translate it as "crowdedness". It is interesting that for many centuries different peoples have been passing on a legend from mouth to mouth that on this night it becomes cramped for a huge number of angels who descend to earth.

Muslims believe that it was on the Night of Predestination and Power that the angel Jebrail descended to the praying Prophet Muhammad and gave him the Holy Quran on one of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan.

Also in the hadiths (traditions about the words of the prophet - ed.) it is said that Muslims were sad about the insufficient amount of time allotted for doing good deeds due to the brevity of life itself.

In this regard, the Almighty sent down a special night for them, in which the mercy of Allah is manifested more strongly than usual. The power of the Night of Power is that the reward for prayer performed on the holy night is similar to if the prayer was recited for a thousand months, or 83 years.

When the night falls Al-Qadr

The Muslim holy book, the Koran, states that the Night of Destiny occurs in the month of Ramadan, but the exact date is not mentioned.

It is generally accepted that this night falls on the last ten nights of the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Followers of Islam believe that it would be a big mistake to spend only one night of Ramadan in worship of the Almighty.

The sacred scriptures mention numbers such as 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29. Devout Muslims spend these days in intense prayer in order to find that very night of Predestination. The holy night comes immediately after sunset and ends with dawn, that is, with the beginning of the time for morning prayer.

Signs of a Holy Night

According to popular beliefs, recognizing the Night of Predestination will not be difficult, because only it has its own special shine. In addition, on the Night of Predestination and Power, no stars fall, and not a single cloud remains in the sky.

Believers say that it is after a special night that the sun rises as a soft red disk without rays, like the full moon on a cloudless night.

How to celebrate the Night of Predestination

Before the onset of the Night of Destiny, it is necessary to perform a complete ablution (ghusl), as well as rid the head, soul and heart of negative thoughts.

On this night, one should ask for forgiveness for sins committed, do tawbah (repentance - ed.), remember the Prophet Muhammad and turn to the Almighty in the language in which it is easier to express one’s thoughts. On the night of Al-Qadr, you should listen to your heart, and be energetic and patient in your affairs.

The mosque servants advise you to get some sleep at lunchtime before the Night of Power, and not to fill your stomach at iftar (breaking the fast - ed).

Traditions

Missing Kadyr Tun is considered an irreparable loss, so Muslims try to stay awake at night and wait for its arrival.

The greatness of the Night of Predestination is described in the Holy Quran in sura 97 of the same name. It says: “Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months. Angels (from heaven) and spirit (angel Jibril) descend into it (on this night) with the permission of their Lord to (fulfill) all commands. She (this night) is peace (goodness and tranquility) until the dawn rises.”

Laylatul Qadr is also significant because the Holy Quran was revealed on this night. In Surah “Smoke” it is written: “Ha. Mime. By the clear Scripture! Verily, We sent it down on a blessed night. Verily, We have always exhorted. On this night all wise matters are decided according to Our command, which We (always) send.”

Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Allah the Almighty sent down the Quran on the Night of Destiny in its entirety and immediately from the “kept tablet” to the lower sky in a place called the “House of Greatness,” and it was located in the places where the stars set. And after that, Allah sent down the Quran to His prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) through the angel Gabriel in parts, depending on the circumstances, for twenty-three years” (“Tafsir at-Tabari” 2/144, “al-Mustadrak” by al-Hakim 2/530 and “Tafsir Ibn Kathir” 4/685. The authenticity of this message was confirmed by Imam al-Hakim, Hafiz Ibn Hajar, Sheikh al-Albani and Sheikh Abdul-Qadir al-Arnaut).

When is the Night of Predestination?

Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Wait for the Night of Destiny in the last ten nights of Ramadan, when there are nine, or seven, or five nights left until the end of the month” (Ahmad 1/279, al-Bukhari 2021, 2022, Abu Daoud 1381, al-Bayhaqi 4/308).

He also spoke about the signs of the Night of Predestination: “The sign of the Night of Predestination is that this night is clean and bright, and the moon seems to shine in it. She is quiet and calm, neither cold nor hot. On this night one is not allowed to throw stars until morning comes. And another sign of it is that the sun rises evenly in the morning, without rays, like the moon on the night of the full moon, and the devils on this day are not allowed to go out with it” (Ahmad 5/324).

Worship on the Night of Destiny

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) during the last ten days of Ramadan would engage in acts of worship at night and wake up his family members to join him. All Muslims who observe Islam try to do the same.

Reading namaz, Koran, appealing to the Almighty with prayers for forgiveness on this night has a higher value than on other nights, since “Laylat ul Qadr is better than a thousand months” (Holy Koran). An authentic hadith from Abu Hurayrah reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven, and whoever endures Night of Predestination with faith and hope of reward, the sins committed earlier will be forgiven” (al-Bukhari).

What to ask from Allah on the Night of Destiny?

There is no special prayer that is read on this Night. But, given that in Laylat ul Qadr the fate of a person is predetermined for a whole year, it is advisable to ask Allah for forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, good fortune, health, that is, everything that is important to you.

A good example of a supplication for this night is the supplication of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): “O Allah! If you wrote me down as unhappy, then erase it and write me down as happy!” The Prophet Muhammad himself (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) most often turned to Allah with a prayer: “O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from torment in the Fire!”
