When the owl's face is ready, the front and back parts of the pillow need to be sewn together. Be sure to leave a small hole through which it will be filled with padding polyester. If desired, you can make paws for the owl - the pattern will look like a flower petal. The paws can not be stuffed with padding polyester, but simply made double-sided.

Today we have an owl pillow on our sewing agenda. A life-size pattern will allow you to make original pillow, which will become a complete sleep accessory. Your baby will be delighted to have such a neighbor in his crib. And in daytime The pillow will also become a full-fledged toy.

Necessary materials:

  • cotton fabric;
  • pieces of multi-colored felt;
  • chalk or piece of soap;
  • a thread;
  • needle;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine;
  • pattern;
  • fabric glue;
  • lightning;
  • filler.

Step-by-step description of the creative process:

  • Let's take the pattern of our pillow and transfer it to paper, selecting suitable size. Graph paper is ideal, but extreme case you can use a newspaper or a piece of unnecessary wallpaper.

  • First, we apply the pattern to cotton fabric and secure the edges of the paper with needles.
  • We outline the pattern with chalk or soap. Leave approximately 10-15 mm for allowances.
  • Cut out the pattern on the fabric.
  • Similarly, transfer the pattern to the teak and cut it out.

  • Cut out two identical circles from felt fabric. These will be the eyes of an owl.
  • In the form of a triangle with rounded corners cut out the nose.
  • Place the eyes and nose on the front of the pillow and sweep it away.

  • Let's cut out this funny wave from suede fabric or felt in a contrasting color. These will be eyelashes. Glue them using fabric glue to the edges of the owl's eyes.

  • If desired, these elements can also be stitched, but this will be difficult to do due to the miniature size of the parts.
  • Now let's take two pieces of a cotton pillow.
  • We will tuck the bottom edge where the zipper will be attached.
  • First we will sew a basting stitch and then a machine stitch.

  • Sew on one part of the zipper.
  • The fold made on the cotton fabric should completely cover the base of the zipper right up to the teeth.

  • We will sew the second part of the pillow in the same way, maintaining symmetry. This is how it should work out for us.

  • Turn the pillow cover inside out and align the edges.
  • It turns out that our fabric is facing each other. Now we need to go around the edge with a blanket stitch and then machine stitch it.

  • To ensure that all seams are neat, the remaining allowances can be processed with an overlocker.
  • Pay special attention to the stitching areas of the cover near the zipper. Do everything carefully without damaging the mechanism.
  • Our case is ready. You can turn it right side out and see the result of the work done.

  • We will make patterns for the paws on paper.
  • Now let's transfer them to the fabric. The details will be in pairs. There are four of them that need to be cut out.
  • Also, don't forget about seam allowances. 5-10 mm will be quite enough.

  • Place the pairs of paw parts facing each other, right sides together.
  • First we baste and then machine stitch it.
  • The paws can be left flat or filled with filler. In this case, we will leave a small hole on one side, and after filling, sew it up with a hand-blind stitch.
  • We place the paws on the front side of the pillow and first secure them with pins or needles on top of the zipper.

  • We sew the legs to the main part of our pillow.
  • For now, let’s put the finished product aside and work on the bedside table.
  • We place two blanks cut from teak, right sides facing each other.
  • We perform basting and machine stitching.
  • Don't forget to remove all basting stitches.
  • We leave a small hole at the bottom for introducing the filler.

  • We fill the pillowcase with padding polyester, silicone or holofiber.
  • We sew the hole in the bedstead manually with a hidden seam.

  • On top of the made pillow we put a pillowcase in the shape of an owl and fasten the zipper.
  • Let's straighten the corners and give our pillow a shape.
  • You can tie or sew a small bow on the ear.

Greetings to all lovers of original and funny products! Decorative pillows have long become an integral part of the interior of our home. There are a huge variety of them, but relatively recently their range has been replenished with unusual and charming pillows - toys. I couldn't resist and sewed one of them. Owl pillow, stitched with your own hands, will always be sweeter and dearer than the purchased one. And now I’ll tell you how I created it.

For some time I thought about which character for a pillow or toy I should choose and settled on an owl. They seem so funny and funny to me, although I haven’t seen any owls on a pillow where they smile even a little. Nevertheless, they look simply hilarious). I sewed this pillow as a gift for my goddaughter and I hope that they will become friends.

To begin with, I sketched appearance owl pillow on a piece of paper and selected the fabrics from which I will create it. I drew a life-size pattern and started cutting. I cut out all the parts and laid them out on the table, so as not to get confused and not frantically look for them during the work process.

The pillow turned out to be relatively large, although, of course, there are larger ones. I indicated the dimensions of the owl in the photo. They can be absolutely anything.

MATERIALS FOR WORK

Fabrics different colors and colors

Nonwoven

As materials I used gabardine and gabardine knitwear (for eyes, ears and paws). It is not necessary to glue thick fabrics with non-woven fabric, but thin ones need to be glued. I duplicated the lilac fabric, eyes, pupils, beak, both hearts, the middle of the ears and all parts of the wings.

I started working with the wings. Using my favorite applique stitch, I stitched colorful pieces onto the sand pieces. Then I stitched the lace, gathering it along its entire length. The wings on an owl are detachable and consist of a front side and a back side. The reverse side is cut from sand fabric.

After the lace was stitched, I folded outside wings with the reverse side and stitched them along the rounded cut. I turned it inside out and got wings like this.

Then she started on the paws. I stitched them along the sections, leaving the beginning of the paws open, turned them inside out and stuffed them with holofiber. I taped the eyes and pupils with non-woven fabric.

On the tummy I stitched hearts one on top of the other with an applique stitch and finished ironed wings. In this photo you can clearly see that they are detachable and are stitched only along the edges.

After that, I stitched the top and bottom of the owl's front, positioned the eyes and pupils the way I wanted, and stitched them down. I did a similar action with the fragments on the ears.

Along the bottom, in the marked areas, I stitched the paws with open cuts to the lower section of the belly, placing the paws on the owl. I forgot to take a photo). I got carried away by the process.

This completed the front side of the owl pillow. After that, I pinned it with the back side of the pillow, which I cut out from sand cotton, along all the outer edges and stitched it, retreating from the edge to the width of the foot. Between the paws she left an open section through which she turned the owl outward. Before turning the toy pillow inside out, I cut off the allowances on the most rounded areas so that the seams would not wrinkle after turning them inside out.

This is what I got at the second stage.

In order to make my owl look more cheerful and feminine, I came up with the idea of decorating her with a multi-colored bow, so that it would be immediately clear that she is a lady.

I made the bow from three parts. There is nothing unusual in its creation. I cut out the parts, stitched along the edges, and turned them inside out. I aligned the colorful piece with the green one in the center, sewed a stitch and pulled it together. After that, I fixed it with an orange stripe and got a cute bow.

If you have any difficulties about sewing a bow, then two master classes on how to create them will help you.

At the last stage of creating the owl pillow with my own hands, I stuffed it with holofiber so that all the side seams were straightened out as much as possible, but at the same time it was not very dense. I manually sewed up the section between the paws that remained open and sewed a bow on the ear. This is the kind of owl pillow I got. In comparison with me, you can estimate the actual dimensions of the pillow.

She was quite impressive for a little girl, but that was a good thing. After all, she will grow up, but the pillow will not. And so decorative pillow– the toy is much more interesting than an ordinary one. After all, you can also play with it.

As you can see, creating such a cute pillow with your own hands is not at all difficult. We need to invent it and sew it. That's all. It doesn't have to be an owl. There are many other adorable pillows. In the article “” I talked about those interesting options that other masters have already come up with. Surely, you will be able to choose from them the one that suits you, or come up with something completely unprecedented and creative.

I am sure that such a pillow will bring a lot of joy and positive good emotions to your home, will brighten up someone’s loneliness and cheer them up in difficult times. Sew a cute girlfriend for yourself and decorate your home with another wonderful thing.
