What can you craft from iron in Minecraft. How to make an iron ingot in Minecraft: crafting basics. Metal owl

In the preliminary version 16w50a, a new item was added to Minecraft - Iron Nugget (a piece of iron). These are a kind of iron bars that are obtained by melting down objects (tools and armor) containing metal.

In principle, the purpose of such a solution is clear. You can take a pickaxe that is about to break and smelt a piece of iron from it. And when there are nine of them, you can collect a whole ingot, which you can then use in crafting items.

It is clear that there is a certain logic in this. Everything will work on the farm; even nine broken shovels can be converted into one whole one. If desired, you can make calculations to identify the possible benefits from such manipulations.

It would seem that the goal is clear, but... we also have a recipe for the reverse transformation of an iron ingot into nine small pieces.

Why was this done? In my opinion, this only makes sense in one case - if there is some use for these iron pieces.

There are no special recipes in the game yet, but one thought almost immediately comes to mind.

I think it would be logical to use pieces of iron to create all the elements of the chain mail armor. After all, in fact, this is one of those things that has existed in the game for quite a long time, but still does not have a crafting recipe. It is not possible to craft chainmail items while playing in survival mode; you can only try to knock them out of mobs running past or buy them from the hillbillies.

In any case, we will find out soon whether such a surprise awaits us or whether there will be another use for the iron blanks (or not). Minecraft version 1.11.1 should be released very soon, possibly even next week.

P.S. Some may be surprised that I studiously avoided the word “nugget” in relation to Iron Nugget. This was done deliberately as I believe that this item is not

Products made from various metals surround a person in many areas of his activity. For the home, these are decorative elements, household items and garden tools. The use of metal objects in the industrial sector cannot be described in a few words. In recent decades, many amateur craftsmen have begun to create metal products with their own hands. Home forges have become increasingly common.

The most affordable type of metal processing, which does not require large expenses and complex equipment, is cold forging, which results in individual figures. And they are combined into a single product using welding.

Items created by hand using cold forging are presentable and can be put up for sale. Therefore, this is one of the options for a profitable private business.

There are many other methods for making metal objects that deserve special attention.

Craft ideas for beginners

Before considering ways to work with metals, it is worth dwelling on ideas and drawings of possible crafts.

Metal crafts are decorations for any interior. Animal and plant subjects, monograms, geometric figures and national ornaments are popular.

A simple product for beginners will be a metal owl. It is made in many ways. Thus, rods bent into round shapes and welded together form a wall-mounted flower stand in the shape of an owl outline.

Sheet metal products are made by welding in the following way:

  • a sketch of the product and its details are first prepared on paper;
  • transfer the pattern to a metal sheet, carefully cut it out with a grinder and clean the edges;
  • with a chisel and hammer, notches are applied so as to give the components the appearance of feathers;
  • a beak is formed, parts of the paws are cut out of a rod, and bolts are inserted into the holes for the eyes made with a chisel in the head part;
  • all parts of the bird are welded together;
  • The surface is cleaned of rust using a chemical solvent and varnished.

Protective or fences are decorated with plant ornaments, and a bouquet of iron roses can become an independent decoration of the room. Cold and hot forging are suitable for making branches, flowers and leaves.

Cold forged leaves are created from thin metal 3.5 mm thick, which bends well.

Briefly the stages of the process can be described as follows:

  • a sheet pattern of the desired shape is cut out of cardboard;
  • transfer the images to a metal sheet and cut them out with special scissors;
  • the edges are polished using a machine;
  • “Hangnails” are removed with a metal brush;
  • clean and polish the surface;
  • With a chisel, veins are applied to the leaf plate;
  • the edges of leaves and petals are made thinner by beating them with a hammer;
  • using pliers, bend the edges and shape the products;
  • the finished forms are secured by spot welding to the branches;
  • The product is painted or coated with a special varnish.

Cut crosswise and painted, it turns into an unusual bedside table or coffee table.

Craftsmen decorate the walls of the barrels with openwork carvings, and then build a set for outdoor dining: a table and chairs.

Sculptures of animals or fairy-tale characters are created from unnecessary garden tools and pipes.

Summer residents love furniture made from profile pipes, made with their own hands. This material is practical, inexpensive, and allows you to create many useful things: from furniture to a greenhouse. Combines with other materials: wood and plastic.

To make a bench measuring 2.3 x 0.6 x 0.45 m, a profile pipe with a square section of 0.03 x 0.03 m and a total length of 11 m is used. As well as boards 2.3 m long and 0.06 m wide.

A scale of tarnish colors from yellow to violet is used by blacksmiths when determining the heating temperature of a metal. The manifestation of color depends on a very thin, several molecules, oxide film on the surface. Modern craftsmen have learned to control the colors of metal and use this when designing a product.

Temperature will also help in creating frosty patterns in pewter. The principle is based on its allotropic forms. Under normal conditions it is white and is called the β form. When heated to a temperature above 160 ºС, it transforms into a substance with a different crystal lattice – the γ-form.

In practice the following happens:

  • a sheet from a tin can, covered with a thin layer of tin, is brought to the flame of a candle and heated;
  • in places where the temperature rises, streaks appear that diverge in different directions in curls.

There are nuances to this process:

  • uniform heating of the entire sheet will lead to a change in its entire color without streaks;
  • Spot heating is enough - streaks form independently in any direction;
  • overheating of the surface will lead to tin dripping - its melting point is about 232ºС.

However, the effect is beautiful and easy to do at home. A sheet painted in this way can be used to create crafts from tin with your own hands.

Tough as it is

Tin is a type of sheet steel, up to 0.36 mm thick, coated with tin, zinc, chromium, varnish or other substances.

Cans or beer cans can be a source of material for DIY crafts made from tin. Interesting household or decorative items are easy to make at home.

Tin can be cut well with scissors or a stationery knife, so you can create openwork crafts. By cutting off the bottom of a tin can and cutting out designs on its walls with a knife, you will get a lampshade for a lamp. It can be painted and a cartridge mounted.

A simpler lamp would be the same cut-out lampshade, but with one bottom. Tin candlesticks will create the mood and ensure the safety of using an open fire.

All of the above techniques are common among amateur craftsmen. But 3 main methods deserve special attention: cold and hot forging, as well as art welding.

Cold forging

It includes two main methods of influencing metal: pressing and bending. The first is the impact action, leading to compaction of the top layer and mobility of the inner metal workpiece. The second is bending it along certain lines, creating waves, curls, spirals, zigzags.

Metal products created by cold forging are beautiful and easy to make if the craftsman has all the necessary equipment. The industry offers machines for cold forging, however, you can make them yourself, which will reduce the cost of the product.

The disadvantage of cold forging is the inability to correct mistakes. Such a workpiece will be considered damaged.

Hot forging

Allows you to obtain a variety of items made of ductile metal. Heating imparts high plasticity to the material and the ability to shape it by force. A variety of hot forging methods create a range of products to suit every taste.

When choosing this technology, you need to consider:

  • availability of a forge and provision of fire safety equipment;
  • the final result depends on the properties of the metals; not all of them can be forged and welded;
  • high cost of equipment and materials;
  • influence of heating temperature on the properties of the workpiece.

Despite the disadvantages, the advantages of classical forging lie in the variety and beauty of the products.

A new movement that originated at the Institute named after E.O. Paton, brought technical welding to a new level - a fine art. This is no longer crude crafts made from scrap metal at a summer cottage, but a way to create masterpieces using welding.

Small life-size figurines of insects or animals, as well as gates, are all works of art welding.

To work at home using this technique you need:

  • welding machine and consumables;
  • iron blanks;
  • inspiration and sleight of hand.

The main material is titanium, but craftsmen talk about the possibility of working with zirconium and stainless steel.

Tools and equipment to help craftsmen

Any technology for creating metal products in a home workshop requires special tools and equipment. Consumables - metal (iron) blanks - can be specially purchased, or be scrap metal. Metal objects that have served their purpose will probably be found in any garage or cottage. Metal recycling is a promising environmental method that reduces the cost of the product.

Every person strives to decorate their home. For this purpose, some buy various decorative items in stores, others make figures from scrap materials with their own hands. Made from wood, glass or metal, crafts occupy a worthy place in the home and attract with their originality.

Making metal decorative jewelry

Nowadays, many people make their own decorative elements. Why spend money on purchasing ready-made jewelry if you can make it yourself from scrap materials? Of course, working with metal requires certain skills and knowledge, so it is recommended to start by creating simple shapes.

To learn how to make crafts from metal, you will need to master the techniques of working with welding equipment. Welding is the best way to fasten metal parts together. If you don't have a welding machine, you can purchase one from a hardware store or ask a neighbor. You will still need electrodes to work.

Material for your creations can be found in the garage among unnecessary spare parts and sheets of metal. Those who constantly create decorative jewelry from iron even visit landfills in search of suitable parts. Thanks to the hands of masters, already obsolete designs take on a new life, being embodied in beautiful figurines and sculptures. Moreover, such material is obtained completely free of charge.

Metal crafts

Iron is a durable material that is used in a huge number of structures. You can make many useful things from it, for example, a table and a bench for a summer house, a barbecue, a stove, as well as original figurines that will decorate the area. Today, landscape design, which can be supplemented with metal products, is very popular in country houses. Crafts of this kind look very harmonious on the site and evoke envious glances from neighbors.

With patience, you can bring to life the most bizarre design. You can make an iron beast or a man, a model of an airplane or a motorcycle. It all depends on your imagination. If you can’t come up with anything, you can look at ready-made metal crafts. Photos of some of them are presented in this article.

Basic safety rules

When working with metal and welding, safety precautions should be observed. You should not handle a sheet of iron without thick gloves. The material may have uneven and sharp edges that are easy to cut on.

When starting welding, be sure to wear a mask or safety glasses. In general, it is better to work in a special suit that will protect you from sparks flying in all directions. Do not cook near flammable materials: plastic, paper, wood.

From all of the above it follows that you can make decorative metal jewelry and crafts for your home and garden with your own hands. At the same time, you will not only save on the purchase of a finished product, but also enjoy the work.

DIY crafts have always been in demand and were quite valuable, as they emphasize the individuality and peculiarity of their owner.

Metal is one of the most durable materials; it can be used to create garden furniture or a children's swing, as well as small jewelry, such as a ring or bracelet.

For example, steel is much cheaper than gold or silver, but has greater strength; it, like precious metals, does not lose its color and does not corrode; many individual and original things can be made from it:

  • From a steel barrel, you can make a wood stove.

You can also make many useful and interesting things from waste car parts, for example,

  • the valves of an internal combustion engine will make excellent jingling bells for doors,

  • piston system and connecting rod mechanism, excellent table stand, it’s easy to make beautiful legs from them.

Environmental benefits

Scrap metal is thrown away every year and simply rots in the ground; instead, you can give it a second life by making some kind of craft; this is not only an interesting hobby, but also a way to protect the ecological system from dangerous elements released during the decomposition of metal in the soil.

Complex items require a lot of time and expensive equipment to produce, but some souvenirs can be made from almost nothing. It all depends on what you are going to do this for. If you choose artistic metal processing as a professional field, then you should be patient and realize that some financial investments will be required. To make simple but original gifts for friends, relatives and acquaintances, you only need desire and perseverance.

Manufacturing technologies

You can easily create metal products with your own hands. Photos of drawings and process stages will help you with this. Carrying out artistic work involves stages of shaping, processing and finishing. Making things, as already mentioned, occurs in different ways.

  • Casting refers to the filling of a mold with a liquid alloy.
  • Forging is the plastic processing of a material with a hammer, a press, as well as bending, twisting, and chopping.
  • Bending is a simple type of the previous option, performed by riveting or welding parts of the product.
  • Defining is a method of processing a thin, no more than 2 mm, sheet of metal with hammer blows, thanks to which it acquires the required configuration.
  • Separate elements are prepared by stamping and cutting and holes are made.
  • Filigree is made from twisted or smooth, sometimes flattened copper, silver, and rarely gold wire. The curved parts of the patterns are soldered.
  • When minting, a relief pattern is obtained using stamps or special tools that are placed between the hammer and the product.

Drawings of metal products can be done manually or in special programs on a computer. Three-dimensional modeling allows you to make not only a regular drawing, but also to build a three-dimensional model of the future product. It makes it possible to see the appearance of a thing, including in the interior, long before its actual appearance. In this case, it is possible to adjust the parameters of the product without the material costs of re-manufacturing it.

How to make a box from an aluminum can

Even a schoolchild can make the most basic metal thing. The main thing is that this will require practically nothing except time, hard work, imagination and the desire to create. You can make a beautiful box from an ordinary soda can.

Materials and equipment

The raw materials for production, one might say, are lying under your feet on the street. You will also need the following items:

  • sandpaper (skin);
  • sharp scissors;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • ball pen;
  • solid base no larger than A4 format (depending on the size of the box);
  • sheet of paper for the diagram.

Sequencing

At the first stage, a layer of paint is removed from the can using sandpaper. It is better to do this from an unopened container, since its walls remain elastic under the influence of the contents. The process will go faster and you won't ruin the metal. If you use an empty one, be careful not to crush the can.

In the next step, you need to obtain a thin sheet of aluminum from the blank, the size of the reamer of the future box.

To do this, the can is cut.
Sharp and uneven edges are removed.

At the next stage, the edges and sides of the product are marked.

A thin metal sheet is placed on a solid base.

The diagram of the box can be drawn directly on a metal sheet.

Or you can trace a sketch made in advance on paper.

When the layout of the box is ready, we proceed directly to drawing the drawing. This is done using a ballpoint pen or a sharpened pencil. Please note that you will have to trace the patterns several times on both sides. This will make the design more decorative and convex.

You yourself were able to see that it is very easy to make products from thin sheet metal. You may well be able to try your hand at this. You can make not only boxes in this way, but anything that comes to mind.

How to turn a hobby into a small business

Making such exclusive gifts can also be a profitable business. You can sell crafts through advertisements or recommendations from friends. If there is a salon in your city that accepts souvenirs, you can donate them there. It is quite profitable today to create metal products with your own hands. They can be put up for sale on many specialized websites. Such online sites are easy to find. The “Masters Fair” works well, but you can use other services.

How to sell your crafts online

If you decide to opt for online trading, then take into account that the operating principle of all stores is the same:

  1. You register as a craftsman who sells items.
  2. Fill out your profile.
  3. Exhibit your work.
  4. You come to an agreement with the customer.
  5. He pays for the goods.
  6. You deliver.

There you can display both finished items and take orders. It is very important to choose the right product category, come up with its description, and choose a high-quality image. Be sure to write a caption for the photo and indicate that you make metal products with your own hands. We accept exclusive items for sale that can easily be sent by courier or by mail to the customer. Items should not contain very thin or fragile items that could break during transportation. If such parts are available, you must provide high-quality packaging so that the product reaches the client in its original form. After all, every mistake can significantly affect your image. Try to complete all decorative metal products with high quality and on time. Good customer reviews play an important role in this line of work. This way you can turn your favorite activity into a source of income.

Finally

So, as you understand, it is quite easy to make metal products with your own hands. This type of activity would be an excellent hobby option. Also, your friends and family will be the happy owners of exclusive gifts. In addition, by offering samples for sale, you will create an image of a good craftsman and be able to make a profit.

Crafts from scrap metal

From what's lying under the welding table. Please do not judge too much for the clumsiness, but because... There is no grinder or milling machine, it was made using a grinder, electric welding, a file (when I was not too lazy))), and a cutter.

Moreover, it was done during lunch breaks, and when you are late...)))

I'll start with small things like cold stuff. From the bearing race. Hardening and tempering are done in a smart way, you can shave.))) I tempered it in an oven for calcining the electrodes.

Full size. Spring, bearing race. The pistol on the right is a working scarecrow gun with primers. At first I made it with construction cartridges, but it really hurt my ears...))) Kholodnyak (large) was forged and hardened in a forge.

Full size MG. Everything works until the drummer clicks. I did it for a week (if you count a couple of hours a day). Not working sights (in the sense of not moving). And the cupcake does not open (why, there are no cartridges anyway)))).

Today we will not talk about how to make this or that tool, weapon or some other device in Minecraft. But we will learn how to get material, without which it is extremely difficult to imagine a normal life, be it reality or Minecraft. We are, of course, talking about such a common inhabitant of the periodic table as iron.

To understand each other better, let's understand that the concept of “hardware” in Minecraft has three meanings:

  • Iron (g.) ore (r.)
  • Iron ingot (s.)
  • Iron block (b.)

How to mine ore and craft an ingot

Let's start with the basics. It is logical to assume that in order to obtain an ingot or block of iron, you must first obtain the source material in Minecraft - iron. R. The main deposits of ore can be found underground. Height of iron occurrence: 1-64 b. The concentration of this material is from 2 to 61 bp. is approximately 0.72%. For each chunk in Minecraft there are about 75 blocks of river. That is, according to a rough estimate, every 900th block in the game is iron. To extract the river, you need to use stone, diamond or iron. pickaxe

The next link in our logical chain is an iron ingot. It is the one in the ferrum family that is most often used in the production of various items in Minecraft. The main way to obtain it is by remelting the iron you have already mined. R. You will see in the picture how to melt it. In addition, the ingot can be found in abandoned mines, in natural temples (in the jungle and desert). You can get it as a drop from zombies, as well as w. golems. There is another way to mine iron in Minecraft. ingots, but we will consider it a little lower.

Your prospects

What can you do with ingots in Minecraft? Well, the list could be long. Not everyone can find the time to master it, so let’s call on the sister of talent to help and try to “smelt” the main thing.

  • Armor
  • Door
  • Trolley
  • Bucket
  • Lattice
  • Shovel
  • Scissors
  • Hoe
  • Axe
  • Pick
  • Anvil

Oof! We ourselves are tired, but how much longer? Minecraft items left behind! Well, okay, let's move on.

How to craft a block

As soon as you deign to smelt it. s., you now have the opportunity to make an iron block. It is used in Minecraft, for example, when crafting an anvil. It is also an option for compact storage of ingots, nine of which are converted into one object on the workbench. The reverse process is also possible. And this is the same “another way” that we mentioned above.

Let's summarize your progress. Need to:

  1. Find in Minecraft w. ore (it’s easier to get it underground).
  2. Smelt an ingot, or rather several pieces.
  3. Do it. block (this item is optional).
  4. Continue exploring our site about Minecraft.

The first artistic forging appeared in ancient times. However, only talented craftsmen could do it. Metal crafts became fashionable in the 11th century and are still gaining popularity. Nowadays, you can make metal crafts yourself with your own hands, which is what we will get acquainted with.

Observe safety precautions while working!

You will need: sheet of paper, cardboard, pencil, scissors, grinder, sheet metal (1.5mm thick), hammer, chisel, chemical rust solvent, welding machine, 6-8 mm rod, 2 bolts and 2 washers.

Master Class

You will need: sheet of metal 2 mm thick, drill with a metal drill, grinder, metal scissors, grinder circle for stripping, electric welding, rods (4.6, 10, 12, 14 mm in diameter), 3 metal bearing balls, wire.

Master Class

  1. Take 2 pieces of metal pipe and make a head from the first one. Cut out identical parts along the entire diameter as shown in the image, then weld them.

  2. Clean the part using a grinder with a wheel.
  3. Make the torso smaller than the head in the same way.
  4. Weld the head to the body of the rat.

  5. Create and transfer sketches of paws and ears onto a metal sheet, then cut them out.
  6. Roll the paw blanks into a funnel, scald them and clean the seams.
  7. Electrically weld the paws to the body and the ears to the head, clean the seams.
  8. Make the paws-hands of a rat from twigs in this way: the upper paws of a 4 mm rod are welded to a 10 mm rod, the lower ones are 6 mm to a 12 mm rod. Insert into funnels and weld.

  9. Make a tail from a 14mm rod and weld it to the body.
  10. Make holes for the eyes (make them smaller than the balls from the bearings), recess the balls into the holes and weld. Also weld the ball nose, drill holes for the whiskers and insert wire into them.
  11. Clean the rat with a grinder and make its fur this way: apply longitudinal welding seams close to each other.

  12. Clean the craft, giving it shine and varnish.

You will need: sheet metal 0.5 mm thick, metal scissors, yews, whetstone, 6 mm steel wire, hammer, pliers, grinder, welding machine, metal paint.

Master Class

  1. Cut out 30 petals and 2 rose leaves from metal in this way: start with a 15mm petal, end with 80mm.

  2. Smooth the edges of the petal with a sharpening stone.

  3. Cut rose thorns 10-15 mm long from metal.
  4. Make a blank for the stem from wire. Use a hammer to bend the stem.
  5. Create a rose bud in this way: hold the 2 smallest petals in a yew and bend them in half. Form 8 petals in an arc relative to the center, weld and clean each part.

  6. Shape the remaining petals in an arc. Bend the top of the petals with a hammer, weld and clean each part.
  7. Weld the thorns to the stem and clean them with a grinder.

  8. Clamp the rose leaf in a vice, then release it so that the vein comes out, bend the edges of the leaves with pliers, weld them to the stem and strip them.

  9. Weld the bud to the stem, trim and paint.
