Remedy for small flies. How midges appear at home. Modern methods of struggle

The fruit fly is a small, harmless insect, but it is always unpleasant to find one in the house. She is attracted by the smell of spoiled fruits and nectar in the flowers of indoor plants. In the warm season, Drosophila can fly into a living room from the street if you simply spray an air freshener with a berry or fruit scent in the room. How to get rid of fruit flies in an apartment? What products should you use?

Where do fruit flies come from in the house?

There are several ways for a fly to enter an apartment:

  1. The insect chooses soft, slightly or severely spoiled fruits as a place for laying eggs, since their peel is easier to bite through. Since both the fly itself and its eggs are small in size, it is almost impossible to notice that a vegetable or fruit is infected.
  2. Fly larvae and eggs can appear in the house along with soil for indoor plants.
  3. Open windows without mosquito nets or open doors are another way for an insect to get into the apartment. Midges fly to the smell of fruits, indoor flowers or spoiled food.

Where to look for fruit fly larvae in an apartment?

To get rid of these small insects, it is not enough to simply destroy the adult individuals - fruit flies reproduce actively, the female is capable of laying about 20 eggs at a time, and in 2 months (this is the lifespan of an adult insect) she can produce up to 2000 eggs. Insects hatch in the early morning, and already 8 hours after this, the female is ready to reproduce. If you do not start fighting Drosophila in time, it will easily fill the entire house.

The most common habitats of midges:

  1. A trash can or a bowl of food for a pet is where optimal conditions are created for the laying of eggs and the accumulation of adult insects, because there is no shortage of food in such a place.
  2. Pots with indoor flowers. Wet soil and fallen leaves that are beginning to rot are also attractive to insects.
  3. Storage areas for vegetables and fruits. If there are several fruits in a container, one of them may begin to deteriorate before the others, and flies will definitely smell it.

Are fruit flies harmful?

In fact, fruit flies do not cause much damage: they do not have the slightest interest in humans or animals, do not bite them, and do not spread dangerous diseases. The only, and even then hardly possible, threat is the risk of intestinal upset. This is possible if you eat fruit infected with larvae.

How to deal with fruit fly?

Having noticed the appearance of uninvited guests in the house, you need to carefully inspect the apartment and find all the spoiled food: fruit forgotten on the table, sour leftover food in the trash can, pet food in a bowl that has spoiled in the heat. If tea leaves are used as a fertilizer for indoor flowers, you also need to inspect the pots with soil.

All detected possible sources of Drosophila must be disposed of immediately by sending them to the trash. Containers for storing fruits and vegetables should be thoroughly washed to remove larvae and eggs invisible to the eye from the surfaces.

Flowers need to be transplanted into pots with fresh soil. If some of the leaves or flowers of the plant begin to rot, they are removed. The indoor plants themselves are watered often, but little by little - waterlogged soil attracts midges.

Traditional methods

To clear your apartment of midges, you can build your own traps:

  1. Since one of the Drosophila's favorite treats is banana, it can be used as bait. Peel the fruit and place it in a plastic bag or plastic bottle. Using a toothpick, make several holes in polyethylene or plastic. Leave the trap near the midge habitat. Over the next 2 days, a significant portion of the midges will fly inside, but they will not be able to get out.
  2. Just as much as bananas, the fruit fly Drosophila loves honey, fruit juice or apple cider vinegar. The trap is made like this: take a deep container, pour one of the listed liquids into it, and cover it with a bag or cling film. Make holes with a toothpick. Insects attracted by the smell will climb into the trap.
  3. Another possible option is to use a glass jar. A piece of banana, orange or any spoiled fruit is placed at the bottom. A cone is made from a sheet of paper with a small hole at the top. Turning it over, insert the blank into the neck of the bottle. The midges will easily get inside the jar, but they will not be able to fly back out.
  4. Beer, water diluted with sugar and yeast are poured into a disposable glass and left close to the accumulation of insects. Hearing a tempting smell, the midges will fly towards it and drown.

In addition to traps, you can use other means.

Smoking

The crushed hard camphor is placed in an old frying pan (one that you don’t mind throwing away) and put on fire. As soon as the frying pan is hot and steam starts to flow, the container is carried throughout all rooms of the apartment. The resulting smoke is not dangerous for humans, but midges will not tolerate it.

Poison for midges

A couple of recipes for poisonous treats for insects:

  1. ½ cup of milk is mixed with 40 g of sugar and the same amount of ground black pepper. Soak a paper napkin or a piece of toilet paper in the liquid and place it on a plate next to the midges. After a while there will be no insects left.
  2. 10 g of honey is combined with 1 g of saccharin, and a napkin is moistened with this mixture. Place it on the windowsill.

Vacuum cleaner

The place where midges have accumulated is treated with a vacuum cleaner. A running unit will draw in insects, trapping them in a dust bag. The container must be emptied outside the apartment.

Cold

Drosophila are very sensitive to temperature; hypothermia is detrimental to them. If they attacked the apartment in winter, it is enough to simply leave the window in the kitchen open when leaving the house. After a few hours, all the flies will die.

This way you can destroy adult insects, but if there are larvae left somewhere, then after a while the insects will appear again. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to thoroughly wash the pet’s trash can and bowl, and water the soil in flower pots with a manganese solution.

Potassium permanganate or matches

This method is suitable if there are flies on the plant. Prepare a weak solution of manganese and treat flowers with it twice a month.

You can also use regular matches: stick them head down into the ground in the pot. The sulfur from the match will destroy the larvae.

Geranium

Fruit flies cannot tolerate the smell of geraniums. If there are midges in the kitchen, you need to get rid of the spoiled fruit and place a pot with this plant on the windowsill of the room.

Garlic

Midges do not like the smell of garlic, so placing the crushed head near the Drosophila habitat helps. After a few hours there will be no insects.

Orange and clove

A stick of spice is stuck into the orange peel and placed next to the place where midges gather.

Store products

How to get rid of fruit flies if you don’t have time to bother with building traps or preparing poisonous compounds? You can use ready-made traps or preparations.

Manufacturers offer a choice of:

  1. Repellents. Tapes impregnated with chemical compounds, from which vapors that poison insects emanate. Such products cannot be called completely safe for humans - the room in which the tape is located must be ventilated.
  2. Sprays. Special liquids containing fatty acids, falling on larvae and insects, destroy them. They are not dangerous to humans.
  3. Zappers. Modern devices that affect insects with electricity. The only drawback of some models is their high power consumption.
  4. Traps. Factory-made traps do not contain poison; most of them use a substance that attracts insects, and the midge that flies into the trap dies of hunger, unable to get out. You can even install such devices in the kitchen without fear that they will harm a person or animal.

Preventive measures

It’s not difficult to prevent the appearance of fruit flies in your apartment; all you need to do is:

  • keep clean;
  • regularly (at least once a day) take out the bucket;
  • wash dishes immediately after a meal;
  • Throw away spoiled fruits immediately;
  • Do not leave food in your pet’s bowl for a long time, remove it as soon as the animal eats.

If the midges have nothing to eat, they will not appear in the apartment.

Even if midges have infested your apartment, you should not immediately rush to the store for chemicals - you can get rid of them without the use of toxic substances.

It is believed that small flies in the kitchen are annoying, but at the same time harmless. In fact, the question of how to get rid of flies in the kitchen is very important, because these insects can be carriers of dangerous diseases and pathogenic bacteria, whose presence is undesirable in our homes.

What kind of flies live in the kitchen?

Typically, two types of small flies interfere with living in the kitchen:

  • fruit (drosophila);
  • soil (sciarids).

It happens that an infestation of flies comes from a damp basement in a house. If this is your case, then it will be impossible to cope with such flies on your own, even if all the residents of the entrance declare war on insects. It will be possible to remove flies only with the help of a special organization engaged in disinfestation using professional insect exterminators.

Small flies in the kitchen love to live on onions that are beginning to rot, on damp potatoes, and on leftover cut fruits. Clogs in sewer pipes often become breeding grounds for fruit flies. They can also settle in flower pots if you decide to fertilize them with sleeping tea. By the way, another type of fly lives in flower pots - soil flies. They actively reproduce in moist soil, and their main food product is plant roots.

Why are flies dangerous? One fly can carry several hundred microbes, spreading dangerous diseases, including intestinal infections. By flying from food to house plants, as well as leaving their marks on any kitchen surfaces, flies contribute to the contamination of the food we eat.

How to deal with flies in the kitchen

Before you remove flies from your kitchen, you need to find out where they came from. Examine the kitchen, as well as other rooms, for spoiled food. It is necessary to throw out the garbage and rinse the trash can thoroughly. It is advisable to wash kitchen furniture inside and out. If you find a cluster of flies in your closet, it is very convenient to spray them with a spray bottle of water and any detergent - soapy water will prevent them from flying away in different directions. It is better to put all products in dry sealed bags. If there are animals in the house, it is necessary to wash their bowls and not leave food in them freely available. Also desirable remove all water sources- flies cannot do without it. If the cleaning is done, and the flies still bother you, you should do the following.

Cleaning the sewer

Flies can live well in sewer pipes or fly through them from neighbors. This problem is especially relevant for old houses where there are blockages in the pipes or growths on the inner surface - these are what attract flies. To get rid of insects, you need to periodically use a clog cleaner. If you don’t have such a product on hand, you can pour a little soda into the pipe and then pour vinegar into the drain - you will hear a characteristic hissing sound, after which you need to rinse the drain with water and use a plunger.

Attention to plants

If you find that the soil in the pots is wet, you should stop watering for a while or spill the soil with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. You can also spray the plants with the same barely pink solution of potassium permanganate from a spray bottle. You can sprinkle the soil in the pot with black pepper - flies are afraid of it. Another folk remedy is to stick matches into the soil with the sulfur heads facing down. Remember that small flies love organic fertilizers, so don't use them for house flowers. If you cannot get rid of insects in flowers using improvised means, use special products sold in stores.

Flies do not like the smell of geranium, so it is worth keeping a pot of geranium on the kitchen windowsill. It will not only delight you with large and beautiful inflorescences, but will also be an excellent preventative against the appearance of small flies in the kitchen.

Fly traps

If the question of how to get rid of flies in the kitchen continues to bother you even after general cleaning and fighting soil flies, use special traps. You can hang regular sticky fly strips. You can also buy or make specially made traps. For example, you can put bait (a piece of fruit, juice or even beer) in a glass, cover the glass with film, make several holes in it - the flies will come to feast on it and will not be able to get out. Instead of film, you can make a regular funnel out of paper and insert it with its “nose” down, securing the top edge to the edge of the glass with tape. In this option, the flies will also be able to fly through the funnel into the glass and will not be able to get out.

Another trap option is to pour water into a cup with 2-3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, and add a few drops of dishwashing detergent on top. Flies are attracted to the smell of vinegar, and soapy water prevents them from flying away.

You can also use a regular open beer bottle with beer at the bottom - flies won’t get out of it either. All listed traps must be promptly replaced with new ones if the fight against flies continues.

Chemicals

Good old "Dichlorvos"

If none of the methods listed above helped, and the question of how to get rid of small flies in the kitchen is still relevant, you will have to use poisonous substances. This can be any repellent - they are sprayed in the kitchen, removing all open food and drinks from there. You can use the usual Dichlorvos or more modern preparations. Electric fumigators used against mosquitoes are also effective in controlling flies.

More details about methods of controlling flies will be discussed in the article.

Precautionary measures

When using any means of controlling flies in the kitchen, remember your own safety. Wear gloves when cleaning, try not to breathe fumes from household chemicals.

When using chemicals, be sure to remove all products that may be exposed to spray droplets, open containers of water or juice, and pet food and water bowls. There should be no pets or people in the kitchen while spraying chemicals. After treating the room, you must thoroughly wash all kitchen surfaces - cabinets, countertops, household appliances, floors. Be sure to ventilate the room after treatment and after the flies disappear.

Prevention

To prevent the appearance and reproduction of fruit flies, you can do the following:

  • always take out the trash on time and keep the trash can tightly closed;
  • lubricate the inside surfaces of the cabinets with apple cider vinegar;
  • wash fruits thoroughly;
  • do not leave fruits and vegetables that are starting to spoil;
  • do not use organic fertilizers for indoor plants;
  • regularly clean drain pipes;
  • do not allow soil to overflow in pots with plants;
  • Tighten the ventilation holes with fine mesh.

The main thing that will help prevent the appearance and reproduction of flies in the kitchen is: this is hygiene. If there are no spoiled foods in the house, then there will be no flies in it.

During the warm season, small midges, the scientific name of which is fruit flies, may appear in an apartment or private house. They do not carry various infections and do not pose a danger to humans, since, unlike blood-sucking insects, they do not bite warm-blooded creatures. Miniature flies hatch from eggs laid on the surface of fruits and vegetables and reproduce very quickly. The main source of nutrition for fruit flies is decomposing organic matter: ripe and overripe fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, old tea leaves and other plant debris. To get rid of small flies in the kitchen, you can use chemicals, store-bought and homemade traps. But first of all, it’s worth cleaning up the kitchen and utility rooms where food supplies are usually stored.

Cleaning the kitchen

The Drosophila genus includes up to 70 species, each of which has certain food preferences. But they are all attracted by the smell of acid released by fermented or souring products. Small midges fluttering around the kitchen are called differently in everyday life: wine flies, vinegar flies, fruit flies or fruit flies. But the methods of getting rid of all fruit flies are the same.

Before you start exterminating flying individuals, you need to clean up the kitchen and hide food in places where midges cannot reach them:

  • Throw away rotten fruits and vegetables.
  • Wash the garbage can with laundry soap, even if a garbage bag is inserted inside it (dried drops and streaks of fruit juice can become a source of food for midges).
  • Carry out a general cleaning in the kitchen, thoroughly washing all hard-to-reach places (under the refrigerator, behind tables and cabinets), because any stains from spilled liquids can attract midges.
  • Clean the sink and the drain underneath from accumulated organic debris (rinse with any product, scald with boiling soapy water, clean the walls of the drain with a brush).
  • Throw away dirty, worn out dishcloths and sponges.
  • Cover any dishes or products left on the kitchen or dining table with an inverted plate, a clean towel, and a lid.
  • Food supplies that are stored at room temperature should be placed in tin cans, plastic containers or tightly sealed plastic bags.
  • Store foods that can withstand low temperatures in the refrigerator or freezer.
  • After each preparation or meal, thoroughly wipe tables, cabinets and sinks, as drops of water also attract fruit flies.

If you restore order and leave fruit flies without a food source, their population will gradually disappear without any additional measures. But this will not happen immediately - for another 10-70 days you will be able to observe insects flying around the kitchen. You can quickly destroy fruit flies only with the help of bait traps, which can be easily purchased at a hardware store or made yourself.

Drosophila traps

The range of ready-made baits designed to combat fruit flies is quite modest. If desired, in the departments of household chemicals you can find traps with a special attractant that affects fruit flies:

The traps listed are easy to use. They effectively catch small insects. There are also cheaper glue-based baits:

  • Aeroxon Fruchtfliegen-Falle;
  • Raptor.

Their principle of operation is simple: inside the structure there is a jar of liquid, which attracts fruit flies with its smell, and an adhesive layer is applied to the inside of the trap. Flies flying towards the scent of the bait become tightly glued to the cardboard and die.

You can make a primitive glue trap yourself: buy cheap adhesive fly tape, apply a little citrus juice or red wine to its surface. If you hang it near the kitchen sink or in places where fruit is stored, midges will fly to the smell and stick to the sticky layer.

DIY baits

To fight fruit flies, you don’t have to spend money on store-bought traps. You can make them yourself, especially since production does not require additional materials, because everything you need can be found in every home.

How traps work

The principle of homemade baits is the same - a “tasty” liquid is poured into the container or pieces of overripe fruit are placed, and small holes are made in the walls of the trap through which fruit flies can crawl:

Any of the proposed options “works” no worse than store-bought traps and is capable of exterminating a large population of fruit flies in a couple of days. As bait, you can take almost anything that is at hand:

  • slices of pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, bananas, oranges;
  • banana peel;
  • apple cores;
  • old jam;
  • fruit compote;
  • wine or apple cider vinegar;
  • beer;
  • used tea bags.

Traps need to be set until the last midges disappear from the kitchen. To avoid the reappearance of fruit flies, it is advisable to leave 1-2 traps for another 10-14 days. If young individuals suddenly hatch from the laid eggs, they will inevitably fly to the smell of fruit acid.

Sciarids or fungus gnats

Small midges flying around the kitchen are not always fruit flies. These could also be sciarids, popularly called fungus gnats. They can only appear where indoor plants are grown. The soil in pots is often contaminated with sciarid eggs, and under favorable conditions they hatch into larvae and then adults.

Flying sciarids are not dangerous to humans, and they are not capable of causing harm to house plants. But the larvae in the soil can gnaw thin roots and lead to flower disease. The main reason for the proliferation of fungus gnats is frequent waterlogging of the soil, so first of all you should dry the flooded plants and then water them more carefully.

There are several ways to destroy sciarids:

  • Purchase an insecticidal preparation (Aktellik, Decis, Karbofos, etc.), dilute it according to the instructions, spray the above-ground part with the resulting solution and spill the soil in the pot.
  • Use special products against fungus gnats (Bazudin, Zemlin, Grom-2, Pochin). Scatter any of them into shallow grooves made on the surface of the soil in the pot.
  • Spray the soil of the infected flower with any aerosol against flies and mosquitoes, and include attractants in the room in the form of plates or liquids.

If these measures do not help and fungus gnats continue to flutter over the flowerpots, you will have to replant the plants in fresh, pre-steamed soil.

To eliminate the risk of sciarids appearing in the kitchen, you need to adjust the watering regime for indoor flowers and not fertilize them with various food products. If you water flowers with water after boiling vegetables or eggs, drinking tea leaves or meat broth, the benefits will be very doubtful, but the appearance of fungus gnats or fruit flies is quite likely.

Small pests appear unexpectedly in your apartment, annoying with their presence, and some species bite. The insect flies everywhere and will make the fruit unsuitable for further consumption. There are many folk and modern means of struggle.

Where do small midges come from, how to get rid of them in the house, what caused them to appear, and - we will tell you further.

OUR READERS RECOMMEND! In the fight against bedbugs, our readers recommend the Pest-Reject repeller. Electromagnetic and ultrasonic technology is 100% effective against bedbugs, cockroaches and other insects. Absolutely safe, environmentally friendly product for humans and pets.

How to get rid of midges in the house at home yourself?

Getting rid of midges yourself at home is not difficult. There is no need to determine which fruit fly is infested - they are all poisoned in the same way. The fight must be carried out until complete destruction, since the insect reproduces instantly. Ready-made products and small traps will help remove fruit, flower and other types of midges from the house.

Why did small black midges appear at home?

To get rid of midges, you need to know why they appear and where they come from. Only after identifying the cause will it become easier to fight midges. Where do fruit flies come from at any time of the year, even in winter under completely sealed conditions? The question is relevant.

The kitchen is a place where midges accumulate, as can be seen in the photo. And in the bathroom you can most often see white insects. Read about why there are white insects in the bathroom

The reason for its appearance:
1. The first source of midges is dirty fruit or vegetable. Eggs appeared on the fruits during ripening, which are awaiting rotting of the fruit, in a state of remission. When the main food appears, the eggs are activated and turn into a small insect. The larva must find food for itself. The short lifespan is compensated by intensive reproduction.

OUR READERS RECOMMEND! To get rid of BUGS, our readers recommend the Pest-Reject repeller. The operation of the device is based on the technology of electromagnetic pulses and ultrasonic waves! Absolutely safe, environmentally friendly product for humans and pets.

3. Pets' corner. Any organic matter decomposes. Hordes of flies appeared in stagnant aquariums, a dirty cage with a hamster or rabbit. The habitats of domestic animals must be clean so that the fly cannot feed and reproduce in the house or apartment.

4. Green plants in the room. Small insects often appear in flower pots. If a flower was watered with tea leaves, then fruit flies appeared in the soil due to the remains of tea - a favorite delicacy of midges. They bloom in flowers when soil moisture is high.

5. Sewerage and water supply. If the kitchen is kept in ideally clean conditions, then the sources of flies will be small food debris (fruit, vegetables) caught in the siphon. The uncontrolled process of decay provokes the appearance of flies.

The answer to the question about the source of flies in an apartment or private house can be associated with the process of rotting in communications or the house. Small flies appear in the room thanks to humans; reproduction and further life are affected by the cleanliness of the apartment and sewerage system. You can get rid of midges in the house only by removing the original source where the uninvited guests came from.

Folk remedies for small insects

How to get rid of small midges using folk remedies:

Bottle trap. Take a half-liter glass or plastic bottle with a narrow neck and put a rotten vegetable or fruit in it. Stretch the oilcloth tightly at the top and make small holes. Leave the trap until it is completely filled or the flies disappear from the house.

Vacuum cleaner. Use it to catch flies and empty the trash bin on the street. This method can only get rid of adult individuals; small larvae remain unharmed.

Place small pieces on a hot frying pan camphor pieces. Steam with a specific smell will get rid of annoying midges. With a frying pan, they go through all the places in the house or apartment where the pests came from. The method is popular among housewives.

Smelling trap. Pour aromatic liquid (wine, compote, vinegar, juice, beer) into small glasses and add a couple of drops of detergent. Glasses are placed in the place of the greatest concentration of flies. A fruity or fruity smell will attract them, and the washing liquid will help get rid of flies in the apartment.

Repellent: an orange with a clove stuck into it (seasoning).

Little tricks, if guests appear in flowers: you can stick several match heads into the ground, water the plant with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or a soap mixture.

A garlic infusion will help get rid of midges: crush 3 heads of garlic in 1 liter of water (leave for 4 hours and then pour into the soil). It is not recommended to keep the flower in a wooden box. Wood has higher porosity than plastic or ceramics.

Start a geranium– small pests cannot stand its persistent aroma. Drosophila in the apartment will disappear or its number will significantly decrease. An additional method of prevention.

Duct tape. It does not look aesthetically pleasing, as it is hung in an open place. In some conditions it is not recommended (kitchen, pantry).

How to get rid of midges in the house - modern methods of control

Due to the variety of drugs, housewives are faced with the question of making the right choice. Modern anti-fly products do not damage the surfaces of expensive furniture and walls, are harmless, almost safe for humans and pets, easy to use, and eliminate midges instantly.

The following will help you get rid of them in your home quickly and easily:
1. Sprays against flying or crawling insects: Raptor, Raid, Neo-dichlorvos.

2. Special gels are applied to the surface of the trash can or sink.

When treating with any chemical against midges, use a respirator, rubber gloves, and goggles. Remove food, children's toys and small objects from the surfaces being treated. Small children and pets should not be present in the house or apartment. Windows and doors are tightly closed so that pests do not reappear and cannot enter from other rooms.

Many chemical preparations will help you get rid of midges quickly and effectively. A store consultant will answer your question about choosing a product. Folk remedies are safer and do not require large expenses. After removing uninvited guests, you should ensure cleanliness and store food in the right conditions. A person should often clean the places where the insect came from.

We can assume that a sufficient number of people have encountered a terrible scourge - small flies that interfere with even ordinary household activities in their free time. Often, the problem associated with them is that a person has already removed all possible sources of their appearance, but they continue to fly. Who are they? Why do they appear? And, perhaps, the main question is how to get rid of them?

Who really lives in the house?

More than once, everyone has noticed tiny flying creatures in various places in their apartment or house. They can prevent you from eating at your table, relaxing in front of the TV, reading a book, working, and generally performing any activities related to household issues. But what to do with them? In order to understand this, you first need to find out their real nature.

These flies are fruit flies. This is the name of fruit flies, a genus of small flying insects. They are small in size and very difficult to see with the naked eye. These creatures live for a relatively short time (about two weeks), but during their existence they manage to spoil the life of other earthly inhabitants. They look a certain way: yellow or red eyes and a tiny body. Of course, you can’t limit yourself to the appearance of one fly because they have a peculiarity. They live in flocks and reproduce quite quickly. So if you wanted to get rid of them, this feature will significantly complicate the task.

Why do small flies appear?

A person who carefully monitors the state of cleanliness in an apartment or house will be greatly surprised by the appearance of these creatures. After all, there is no heap of garbage in the trash can, cleaning happens often, dirty things don’t lie on the bed for a long time, since laundry is done several times a week, the dishes are washed, and things are in their places. But, you need to know that if there are fruits lying around the house that are clearly not edible, wilted flowers in a vase have been standing for a long time, or one of the “household” waters the flowers too much, then do not be indignant. It is the formation of such conditions for fruit flies that will be most favorable for the reproduction of their species, nutrition (the same spoiled foods, etc.) and existence in general.

If, after reading all of the above, you deny the reasons for the appearance of fruit flies, then there is a second option. This will be the sewage system, which in itself can bring a lot of trouble, or ordinary ventilation.

How to “show” uninvited guests out of your home?

Let's start with the most difficult - sewer and ventilation holes, heating pipes and basements. The very first thing that can be done, for example, with a sewer system is to clean it at certain intervals. The same principle applies here as with stagnant water. They live quite comfortably in such an environment because there are various remnants of products and things that people used or consumed. To clean the holes, proceed as follows: heat water to boiling temperature and pour it into a pipe cleaning mixture, which can be purchased at any store.

The fact is that boiled water will help better in such a situation. It will remove layers of accumulated fat that is located on the walls of the drainpipe. If the method is ineffective, then repeat the procedure. Be sure to check the condition of the external joints of the fittings and the elasticity of the fuliment. And don't forget that if there is water oozing somewhere, then its accumulations can create an ideal breeding ground for flies.

What to do if flies appear over fruit?

Fruit flies are quite unpleasant creatures. They constantly fly over spoiled food, disturb others and can be an unpleasant addition to the interior of the house.

After they burst into our lives, the question logically arises: “how to remove them.” There are several ways to get rid of such small insects.

The most common and effective method is any vessel with a neck. A bottle or jar, even a vase is quite suitable for us.
Knowing the preferences of our enemy, it is necessary to take different sweets and put them at the bottom of the selected container. Such sweets can be a variety of syrups, honey, sauces, drinks (including alcoholic ones, like wine), as well as a variety of overripe or rotten fruits.
After the bait has been chosen, you need to take a sheet of paper and make a kind of watering can out of it. If you twist the sheet, you get a kind of bag with a hole. It must be inserted into a jar in which sweets have already been placed. However, you should not place the paper watering can so that its tip touches the bait.

How it works?

This device works quite simply. Midges, sensing the smell of food that attracts them, rush in search of it. When they fly inside the jar, they cannot escape through the narrow passage and remain there.

Considering that fruit midges reproduce very quickly, such operations should be carried out until they completely disappear. Otherwise, they will constantly increase their population and spoil food.

If after many attempts they still fly, then you should pay attention to the source of their appearance - eggs. If you destroy them, then you won't have to worry about the little flying creatures anymore.

How will the appearance of flies affect the life of a child living in your home?

Of course, there are many ways to overcome annoying guests, but how can this be done without harming little family and friends? When a situation arises in which there is no way to take pets or small children somewhere, and disinfection is urgently needed, then here is what can be done. First you need to purchase apple cider vinegar or white vinegar. Pour it into a small container and add detergent. Even the most ordinary liquid soap will do, the main thing is the effect. It would be a good idea to add household chemicals that have a pleasant aroma from wine or fruit compote. Because of this, fruit flies will fly to the smell, but as soon as they get to the surface of what is in the container, they will no longer be able to fly away and, accordingly, will die there. This method, of course, will be the best option. It is only important to remember that you should place the homemade product higher on the shelves and away from children’s hands.

How to deal with them if they live around flowers?

You may not have noticed flies as often near food, drains or ventilation as you did near indoor plants. Believe me, their appearance in such places is not uncommon.

It is clear that by frequently watering indoor plants, you give them a chance to continue their existence. Therefore, the very first rule: stop watering flowers in such quantities and so often.

It is necessary for the top soil to dry out because this is where they store their larvae and laid eggs. If there is no wet surface, they will simply die. The second and no less effective option would be to remove the top layer of soil. It is in it that the ill-fated larvae are located.

How to avoid buying spoiled products?

When shopping, carefully inspect the vegetables and fruits that you buy at spontaneous markets or in large supermarkets and stores. It is especially important to monitor product quality if you live in a small city. In such cities, product updates do not arrive in stores as often.

If you understand that, most likely, you will not eat these products for a long time (for example, you bought unloved fruits), then it is better to postpone the purchase. Buy such things only knowing that you will definitely use them. And do not forget that there are certain instructions for storing any product.
