Types of window profiles, veka, kbe, rehau. Characteristics and types of window profiles Calcined window profile

Human nature is indestructible: some are looking for a “freebie”, others are trying to slip a beautiful candy wrapper with “slag” inside under the guise of candy. Our portal has already described ways to deceive consumers when ordering suspended ceilings. It turned out that this is also possible when installing plastic windows. An unenlightened customer may think that this is impossible - all windows consist of glass and profiles. At the same time, plastic profiles from all manufacturers are made of the same material - polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and the assembled windows look almost the same.

The difference begins to appear after a few years (sometimes within a year), when the frame and sashes become deformed - they are difficult to open and close, there is wind from the street, condensation appears between the glass panes, and then black mold.

Therefore, it is very important to know the criteria to avoid fakes when choosing a profile for plastic windows.

Types of profiles and their classification

The main structural element of the doors and frame is the profile. It determines not only the aesthetic perception of the window, but also its strength characteristics and service life. European standard EN 12608 SR and GOST 30673-99 profiles made of polyvinyl chloride are classified according to several parameters.

1. Thickness of outer walls. The profile is a closed hollow structure with a system of partitions inside. All the basic consumer properties of the window depend on the thickness of the walls that form the structure: cost, strength and durability.

The European standard distinguishes the internal and external walls of a plastic profile. The internal walls include all the outer walls of the profile in an already installed window that are invisible to the eye. From the first definition it logically follows that the outer (outer) walls are the front walls of the window and are visible both from inside the room and from the street (see photo).

Depending on the thickness of the polyvinyl chloride in the external and internal walls, there are three classes of profiles (in this regard, the Russian standard is more stringent):

  • "A"— the thickness of the external walls is >= 2.8 mm, the internal one is >= 2.5 mm according to the European standard (minimum 3.0 mm for the external wall according to GOST), which ensures a high level of window strength and the best heat and sound insulation;
  • "IN"— the outer walls have a thickness of 2.5 mm, the inner walls have a thickness of 2.0 mm (coincides with GOST). A profile of this class retains heat 10-15% worse, is 12-17% less resistant to various types of deformation, and blocks street noise 10-20% worse;
  • "WITH"— the European standard and GOST do not impose certain requirements for this class of profile. It is mainly used to make windows for non-industrial facilities. A number of companies, meeting the requirements of one of the parameters of class B, which is important, make economy class windows for the population (in general, this is a class C profile).

Unscrupulous window installers, emphasizing the low price, persuade customers to install an “object” profile (class C, not a single parameter corresponds to classes A and B), intended for non-residential premises (in fact, the price is almost twice as high as the real one, but significantly lower than the cost profile B).

Such windows do not retain heat and quickly become deformed. It is visually difficult to distinguish such a profile from a standard one (class B or A) - measurements with a caliper are required. The inscriptions on the protective film “object” can also help determine the quality of the proposed profile.

Attention: only if both parameters meet the requirements of the standard, the profile belongs to a certain class, which must be confirmed by the corresponding certificate. Without presenting documents confirming quality, it is better to refuse the transaction.

It is easier for consumers who understand profile classes to decide which plastic to choose for their windows.

2. By temperature zones. In Europe and Asia there are countries with very hot, temperate and cold climates. Window manufacturers took the current situation into account and produced their own line of products for each zone. In Europe it is tied to the hottest month of the year, in Russia - to January.

Depending on the average temperature in January, the profiles produced may be:

  • lightweight version - for countries with hot climates, where the average temperature of the coldest month remains positive (must withstand short-term temperature drops down to -5 degrees Celsius);
  • standard version - for a temperate climate zone with an average temperature of -20 o C in January (maximum permissible negative temperature -45 degrees Celsius);
  • frost-resistant - for the Far North, where temperatures drop to minus 55 degrees Celsius.

The last two types are mass produced in Russia. Lightweight windows are produced only by the Russian company “Krauss” (Krasnodar) - they cover the entire south of Russia.

3. According to impact resistance, the profile is divided into class I and class II. Class I PVC must withstand the fall of a special striker weighing 1.0 kg from a height of 1.0 m at a plastic temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius. For class II, the fall height is increased to 1.5 m.

This classification makes it possible to determine how correctly the internal partitions are located (they counteract the deflection of the outer walls into the structure under mechanical stress) and how the plastic reacts to lower temperatures (everyone knows the property of plastics to become brittle in severe frosts).

Consumer properties of profiles that you need to pay attention to

Which profile to choose for PVC windows so that it is warm, quiet, airtight, inaccessible to burglary and, at the same time, not to contact scammers? The main characteristics will help with this.

System width

The first indicator you should pay attention to is the width of the profile structure. It depends on it how warm and cozy it will be in an apartment or wooden house. For consumers who are encountering plastic windows for the first time, it is difficult to understand how the width of the frame and sash affect the comfort in the room. Let's try to explain.

A double-glazed window is installed in the window sash, which consists of several glasses fixed around the perimeter with a PVC profile frame. The air pockets between the glasses are called chambers. In standard windows, there is simply air in them; in the “Premium” segment, inert gas is pumped into the chambers to improve all the characteristics of the double-glazed window.

From school physics lessons we know that air is a poor conductor of heat, and glass with an air pocket is a poor conductor of sound. Therefore, the more cameras in a double-glazed window and, consequently, the number of glasses, the more comfortable it is to stay in the room. Window manufacturers mainly offer the classic version of the profile width - 58 mm, which allows the installation of single-chamber windows. For two cameras a minimum of 70mm is required.

For regions of the Far North with their extreme temperatures, windows with three or even four chambers are offered. But this requires an appropriate profile width: 90 mm for 3 chambers, 110-120 mm for 4. This type of product belongs to the “Premium” class. Due to their heavy weight, such windows are not recommended for installation on balconies and loggias.

Number of profile cameras

The window design has two units with cameras. One is a double-glazed window, which is discussed above. The second is the profile itself. The profile is hollow. To create structural strength, fasten fittings and increase the level of heat and sound insulation, there are partitions inside the profile. The hollow volumes created by them are called chambers. The more there are, the better the performance of the window. The location of the jumpers is calculated mathematically - each of them performs a specific function.

On sale you can find 3-chamber profiles (this is the minimum possible number of cameras) and 7-chamber profiles. The most popular ones are 5-chamber ones. They offer the best combination of price and quality.

It is difficult to check the quality of the samples offered by the company by the installer, but you can pay attention to the little things that will say a lot:

  • The company logo, date and place of manufacture applied to the protective tape will with a 90% probability confirm the origin of the product;
  • The surface texture will also help: for high-quality windows, the surface of the plastic should be perfectly smooth. Graininess indicates the Chinese origin of the product or Russian handicraft production;
  • The applied paint should be uniform in color and without streaks.

Profile Manufacturers Rating

The manufacturers' ratings will help you figure out which profile for plastic windows is better. In this case, the rating can be compiled based on the popularity of the product, its cost, levels of heat and sound protection, strength, etc.

There is also a commercial factor involved. Some manufacturers buy sites from sites in general ratings, which is difficult to do when ranking products based on one indicator. Therefore, so that the portal’s editors are not suspected of a commercial approach to ranking windows, we will create two types of ratings: for global brands and Russian manufacturers.

Rating of the world's best manufacturers of plastic windows

Various specialized sites put KBE, Rehau, Century, Salamander, Mont Blanc in first place. It all depends on the indicators that were taken as a basis. But these manufacturers are distinguished by nuances, and it may turn out that the leading Rehau is not exactly suitable for a particular buyer. Therefore, we will consider the products of these companies without determining a specific place in the ranking - they all deserve to be in first place.

In terms of popularity on the Russian market, it is inferior to all the companies listed in the rating, since there is no plant in Russia. In terms of technical indicators, it is not inferior to any manufacturer.

Produces profiles with a width of 60-76 mm:

  • Design 2D - 60 mm, number of cameras 3.5 (4);
  • Design 3D - 76 mm, number of cameras 4.5 (5);
  • Streamline - 76 mm, 5 cameras.

Advantages:

  • excellent design;
  • European quality control;
  • control of sales points (dealers) throughout Europe.

The main and only disadvantage is the high cost (compared to Veka and Rehau, it is 35-40% higher).

KBE

A famous German company with factories in Russia (the cities of Voskresensk and Khabarovsk). Experts did not find any differences in the quality of windows from the products of competing companies, with the exception of some nuances.

Attention: the company has come up with an excellent marketing ploy - it issues an “Official Partner Certificate” to the best window assemblers, which does not give any guarantees to the customer regarding the quality of the windows.

The factories offer the customer a fairly impressive line of profiles, with a width from 58 to 127 mm:

  • “Engine” and “Etalon” - 58 mm, 3 cameras;
  • "KVE-Expert" - 70 mm, 5 cameras;
  • “KVE-88” - 88 mm, 6 cameras;
  • “KVE-Expert+” - 127 mm with 5 cameras in the frame and sash and 4 in the impost.

Among the advantages it should be noted:

  • democratic price - products are available to mass consumers;
  • high quality;
  • launch of the greenline technological line.

No disadvantages were identified either in consumer reviews or in the expert community.

MONT BLANC

Austrian manufacturer of budget, high-quality products. After the construction of a plant in the Moscow region (Elektrostal), it became well known to the Russian consumer.

Produces a line of 7 types of profiles with a width from 58 to 120 mm:

  • “Logic” - 58 mm, 3-chamber;
  • "Tempo 60" - 60 mm, 5-chamber;
  • “Nord 70” - 70 mm, 5-chamber;
  • "City 120" - 120 mm, 5-chamber.

Among the advantages:

  • budget price;
  • long period of operation without loss of consumer properties;
  • wide range of produced profiles.

Among the disadvantages, one can note the shortcomings of the marketing service - for 15 years the company has not made any attempts to obtain an ISO certificate for the products of the Russian plant.

VEKA

The German company with half a century of experience is one of the sales leaders. Built the VEKA Rus plant in the Moscow region. It produces white and colored profiles with a width from 58 to 90 mm, which do not turn yellow when exposed to UV rays.

The profile line consists of a number of models with a width of 58-90 mm:

  • “Euroline” - 58 mm, 3-chamber;
  • “Proline” - 70 mm, 4-chamber;
  • “Swigline” - 82 mm, 5-chamber;
  • "Alphline" - 90 mm, 6-chamber;
  • "Softline 82" - 82 mm with 7 cameras.

Product advantages:

  • Consistently high quality;
  • large model range.

A significant disadvantage of the product is that the consumer significantly overpays for the brand - Russian-made products are practically no different in price from the profile produced in Germany.

REHAU

Another German company with extensive experience in the production of plastic windows. The company was created to produce products for the middle class. Currently, this line has been erased - at a price you can find products for every taste. It adheres to an interesting tactic: it maintains the price level of its main competitor, the Veka company, on the market.

In 2002, the company launched its own plant in Gzhel (Russia). Profiles are available in widths of 60 mm, 70 mm, 80 mm and 86 mm:

  • “Blitz” (economy class products) - 60 mm, 3 cameras;
  • “Brillant-Design” - 70 and 80 mm, 5 and 6 cameras;
  • "Geneo" - 86 mm, 6 cameras.

The manufacturer’s pros and cons completely replicate the advantages and disadvantages of its competitor, Veka (see above).

Rating of the best Russian manufacturers of plastic windows

Enterprises with purely Russian origin have a short history, but have managed to compete with Western manufacturers - the sales volume of Russian windows is increasing every year. Among the best:

Kaleva

A Russian company with a Finnish name, the only one in the country that operates on a full cycle: from profile production to installation of windows for the customer. This is both a plus and a minus for the company at the same time.

  • Plus: by producing and installing a very high quality profile yourself, the manufacturer significantly reduces the price of the finished window.
  • Disadvantage: in the regions they are not ready to work at the level of the main enterprise - most of the installed windows do not last the warranty period and have to be reinstalled. The company is not yet eager to somehow influence the work of its regional centers, leaving customers alone with dealers.

PANORAMA

The company from St. Petersburg has 20 years of experience. According to experts and consumers, the product quality is one of the best - it can easily compete with German brands. The profiles have an ideal balance of rigidity, good noise and heat insulation, and a pleasant design.

However, the legacy of the Soviet past is taking its toll - the company’s management works poorly with consumers and pays little attention to advertising. In terms of potential, the company is capable of becoming the leader of PVC windows in Russia.

PROPLEX

Proplex is a young Russian company that is rapidly winning the market from the old-timers. Windows developed specifically for Russian conditions (the model range consists of profiles with a width of 58-127 mm) have affordable prices and high consumer characteristics.

Further expansion in the Russian market and entry to the international level is hampered by two unpleasant moments:

  • backward profile design;
  • lack of an international ISO quality certificate.

Selecting the StroyGuru portal

When choosing a leader among global brands, the portal's editors unanimously voted for Rehau. Our choice is explained simply: thanks to this company, window production is on the verge of revolutionary changes - the innovative material “Rau-fipro” has been patented.

The portal’s employees would personally install windows from only two companies: “Mont Blanc” and “Panorama” - why pay for a brand if the quality of the named companies is no worse. The votes were evenly divided.

Conclusion

The polyvinyl chloride profiles presented on the Russian construction market are able to satisfy consumer requests in all basic parameters: cost, strength, durability, design, level of heat and sound protection. The only thing is to be careful and not fall into the hands of scammers.

Plastic windows are the most popular choice. They are durable, insulate noise well, are easy to care for, and their thermal insulation properties are especially important in continental climates, with hot summers and harsh winters.

Which plastic windows are best to choose for an apartment? This question will help answer rating of plastic windows by quality, compiled in 2018 based on user reviews from the Irecommend and Otzovik websites.

Also, when compiling the window hit parade, such criteria as the durability of the company, the popularity of its products, quality of service and, of course, price were taken into account.

The cost of a double-leaf window is from 7,500 rubles.

Opens the rating of the best plastic windows “Panorama” - one of the oldest manufacturers of plastic windows on the Russian market, staying afloat for more than 20 years. Over the years, the St. Petersburg company has glazed more than one and a half million square meters. So far, the only thing that upsets users is that the company’s service is so unobtrusive that it is difficult to obtain information about possible options.

Cost - from 14,000 rubles.

SOK, or Samara Window Constructions, was founded in 1999. The company does not have its own production, and the profiles are manufactured under the patronage of the German concern Profine. In the ranking of the quality of profiles for plastic windows manufactured Profine KBE profile is considered one of the best, they have received many rave reviews for their durability and strength. Cons: the windows may turn yellow, possibly due to a violation of technology at the Russian manufacturing plant.

Prices - from 9,500 rubles.

Belgian concern The Deceuninck Group is one of the top three manufacturers of PVC windows worldwide. The Russian branch of the company has established itself by creating a new profile system “Favorite Space”, which received the “Time of Innovation” award for high energy efficiency. It is important that the company’s windows are ISO certified. Cons: The company's cheap options are generally worse than similar budget offerings on the market.

Prices - from 8,703 rubles.

Proplex windows are manufactured in the Moscow region using Austrian equipment, and the production uses raw materials and components from leading suppliers in the USA and European countries. Although Proplex windows are rather positioned as a budget product, they are of sufficient quality even for Siberian frosts. PVC is of good quality - it does not crack or turn yellow over time. Users complain mainly about the fittings - their quality leaves much to be desired.

Cost - from 9,000 rubles.

Russian full-cycle window company. This means that they make the windows exclusively themselves, from the design of the window to its installation. The company's advantages are an extensive network of dealer companies with representative offices in more than 80 cities of Russia. Unfortunately, one of the disadvantages is that the quality of both the windows themselves and their installation depends very much on the dealer company. It is also worth paying attention to the fact that the company’s head office does not accept complaints about unscrupulous dealers - find out for yourself.

Turnkey cost - from 9,000 rubles.

The company is the owner of one of the largest factories in Russia for the production of PVC profiles, built under the supervision of Austrian specialists in 2001. Since then, the company has developed many types of profiles, ranging from standard triple to exotic five-chamber. Currently, seven types of profiles have been created to suit any client’s needs. One of the advantages is that they easily bend to fit windows of any shape. The downside is that in some cases they may turn yellow, and the fittings are not the best.

The average cost is 21,900 rubles.

The company has its own production from German components of the highest quality, which allows us to promptly deliver the required orders, including such unusual ones as windows with meteorite protection(undoubtedly, residents of Chelyabinsk should appreciate them). More traditional systems are distinguished by their thoughtful design, endurance and durability. Salamander has some of the best PVC windows on the market in terms of quality, but there is also a drawback - the price.

3. KBE

Price on average - 8,700 rubles.

The third place in the ranking of plastic window manufacturers is occupied by the KBE company - its windows have long become one of the most popular solutions for glazing an apartment. The profile is highly valued by both users and specialists - it is not without reason that the company’s specialists participated in the development of GOST standards for windows in 1997-1999, making KBE windows practically a standard. Users are generally satisfied, believing that KBE are one of the best plastic windows and represent the best price/quality ratio. But, of course, a lot depends on the supplier and installer.

2.REHAU

Can be ordered for RUB 6,660.

German company REHAU has been developing and producing PVC window systems since 1969. Over the years of the company's existence, many profiles have been developed, ranging from the classic three-chamber to the innovative six-chamber. Unfortunately, a lot depends on the supplier and installer. Well, I don’t really want to overpay for an advertised brand.

1.VEKA

Installation cost, on average, is 11,500 rubles.

VEKA is considered the best profile for plastic windows on the Russian market
is another German company that has been on the market for more than 45 years. VEKA is one of the largest brands in the world, having representation not only in European countries, but also in Latin America, Southeast Asia and China. In 1999, the first VEKA plant was built in Russia. The company produces only the highest quality A profiles according to European standards, which one to choose is up to you. Pleasant appearance, variety of profiles, endurance and temperature stability are qualities that have attracted the attention of buyers. But, again, a lot depends on the installer company and the quality of the fittings.

Hide

The profile for PVC windows is the main element. It affects the functionality, reliability, and durability of the structure. Despite the same appearance, the profiles are endowed with different properties, which must be chosen very carefully.

What types of designs are there?

Currently, there are a large number of companies producing a variety of products. They can differ significantly from each other even from the same manufacturer, not counting competitive products. What's the difference and is it worth paying more?

There are a variety of products, a comparison of which will help the buyer make the right choice. They are the structural basis; frames and sashes are made from them. Different materials can be used: wood, metal-plastic, aluminum, polyvinyl chloride. The latter is the most popular: it is equipped with special steel inserts that make the product more durable and rigid. Air cavities help achieve good heat and sound insulation. Some manufacturers fill these cavities with nitrogen, so the windows do not fog up due to temperature changes. PVC profiles for windows must comply with Russian GOST 30673-99 or European EN 12608 SR.

PVC window profiles from all manufacturers are divided into the following categories:

  • Class A: characterized by an outer wall size of 2.8 mm. The inside thickness does not exceed 2.5 mm. This window provides good protection from weather conditions and perfectly retains heat inside the room.
  • Class B: characterized by thinner walls: external - 2.5 mm, internal - 2 mm. This sample copes worse with thermal insulation, but is suitable for use in warm climates or for glazing balcony rooms. It is worth considering that the risk of structural deformation increases by 15%.
  • Class C: products that do not meet Russian and import standards. Since there is no certification, there are no strict requirements for it, and manufacturers can choose the thickness at their discretion. As a rule, such windows are cheap, but their quality suffers.

On sale you can find an objective PVC profile. It is used for glazing non-residential technical premises and commercial halls, since it is not capable of retaining heat efficiently, and there is a high probability of deformation. Externally, it differs little from the standard one. You need to pay attention to the presence of the Object designation: unscrupulous traders sell such products for homes.

How to choose a suitable profile?

PVC window profiles have different characteristics, a comparison of which will help you make the right choice. You should not rely on the external characteristics of the products offered. Attention should be paid to the following properties:

  • Uniformity of the material. Choose products whose plastic is free from flaws. It should be smooth, pleasant to the touch, homogeneous. If you notice that the surface is coarse-grained, most likely you are dealing with a fake made in violation of technology.
  • The coating must be complete, without streaks or traces of paint.

High-quality windows always have factory markings. You should look for it on the inside of the package. Firms put their stamps with their name; numbers may also be present: they indicate the number of the shift that released the batch. The numbers indicate the number of the device used to produce the window and the date of release of the product. Counterfeits either do not have such numbers, or the designations are the same.

  • Width. PVC window profiles often have a standard parameter of 58 mm. This window is quite suitable for living rooms and is most often sold in stores. If desired, you can order a thicker version, the width of which will be 70 or 90 mm. The first option is relevant on the upper floors of high-rise buildings, as it can withstand heavy loads and can effectively withstand strong winds. It is also important to use it in cold climates. The second option is considered premium, it has a high ability to insulate sound and heat, has high strength, but the mass of such a product is much higher; it is not recommended to install it everywhere.

If you decide to install a 90 mm PVC window profile, you should not order a window that is too large. Its sash will have a lot of weight and will begin to sag. It is better to take two small ones or make a design with two doors that are independent of each other.

  • Thickness. Can vary from 2.5 to 3 mm. However, it is not worth installing such a structure in heavy window blocks. A heavy load may question its reliability.
  • Number of air chambers. The profile, whose thickness is 58 mm, has two chambers, less often equipped with three. This is quite enough for good thermal insulation. More chambers are available for the thicker profile, which measures 70 mm. It can have up to 5 cameras. Such profiles are most often used as glazing in apartments of high-rise buildings. If necessary, a 90mm product can be ordered and can have up to 6 chambers. The level of soundproofing and warmth inside the room depend on their number. However, it is worth remembering that the number of glasses and profile dimensions increase the weight of the structure, and the difference between the 3 and 4-chamber package is not very noticeable.
  • Number of double-glazed windows. Different brands of plastic windows offer products with different quantities of these elements. They should not be confused with air chambers. A double-glazed window is glass combined with a frame and sealant. Between them there are air chambers; they can be filled with gas. A single-chamber double-glazed window is considered the lightest, since it includes a pair of glasses. Most often, such products are used for finishing terraces, balconies, loggias, since their mass is minimal, but such a window does not insulate heat well. For an apartment or private house, it is better to use a thicker version, which has three sheets of glass and two air chambers.

When choosing a double-glazed window, you should also be aware of this feature of the product: the more glass, the worse the light will pass through. In the server regions of the country, four-chamber products are installed; there is no need to install them in warmer climates, this will only be an extra overpayment. If the frost does not exceed -40 degrees, the difference between this product and the three-chamber one will not be noticeable.

When choosing plastic windows, you must first of all pay attention to the quality of the product, and also make a purchase based on the purpose of the profile and the climatic conditions in which you live. It is worth remembering that too cheap material cannot be of high quality.

Plastic windows are a modern solution for glazing residential, commercial and industrial premises. They are unpretentious in operation, can be made taking into account the individual needs of the customer (from size to color) and have a more affordable price tag compared to wooden windows.

The review presents the best manufacturing companies operating on the Russian plastic window market. The rating includes both world-famous brands and domestic companies that use the profile of the most popular brands in their production. The rating given is based on the quality characteristics of the manufactured windows, as well as reviews from owners who have chosen products from a particular company for glazing a house or apartment.

The most popular manufacturers of plastic windows

5 Trocal

The most experienced manufacturer of plastic windows
Country: Germany
Rating (2019): 4.9

If you believe the sources, the activities of the Trocal company began back in 1954 - it was then that production lines (it is unknown on what scale) began to work towards the creation of the first PVC profiles. Honoring their traditions, the Germans to this day produce designs that are successfully used for installation in apartments and private houses.

The problems and main advantages of profiles from Trocal lie in the chosen path of uniqueness. The manufacturer relied on increasing the reliability of the structure by increasing rigidity and resistance to various types of deformation. If in the case of windows this approach resulted in good results, then for doors the reinforced profiles turned out to be too heavy. In matters of design, users were more than satisfied: absolutely the entire line of the company is not devoid of design sophistication, which, in general, is rare even for honored market leaders. In general, the level of the company is very high: it is good both in terms of key product characteristics and in terms of cost. A clear contender for the highest position.

4 Salamander

High build quality
Country: Germany
Rating (2019): 4.9

One step away from the prestigious top three is another German brand, which produces, perhaps, the best window profiles in the whole world. Salamander's personal “curse” is status. Due to belonging to the truly premium strata of manufacturers, the cost of their products goes far beyond the scope of their competitors, which, of course, has a negative impact on attracting a mass client.

The second negative aspect is... clone companies. Huge prices created a precedent for copies of windows from a well-known German company to begin to be produced in a handicraft way and “leaked” onto the market in pursuit of the same colossal figures. The precedent is unpleasant and does not play into the hands of the brand at all. But, be that as it may, Salamander continues to follow the intended course and offers the segment more and more innovative developments.

3 Rehau

High-tech production. The most advanced brand
A country: Germany/Russia
Rating (2019): 4.9

The third is the permanent competitor of KBE and VEKA, which has won the hearts of consumers (and experts) with its constant search for the ideal profile formula. In the REHAU laboratories, prototypes are being developed and tested day after day, only a small part of which is honored to appear in the store catalogue.

The process of manufacturing plastic windows itself is also harsh. With true German pedantry and punctuality, each technological operation is accompanied by a process of strict control. Thanks to this approach, the Germans managed to significantly reduce the percentage of defects and reduce the costs of reprocessing unusable products. But, like all other companies, REHAU also had a drawback. Despite the fact that the overall number of consumers is large, some are put off by the company's pricing policy. Yes, they manage to reduce internal costs, but they are in no hurry to meet new customers halfway (in terms of the cost of finished products).

2 KBE

Focus on consumer needs. The most affordable prices
A country: Germany/Russia
Rating (2019): 4.9

The second contender for leadership is another representative of Germany in the production of PVC profiles, who has earned such a high place due to his complete focus on the consumer. The company’s product range includes a huge variety of window profiles, suitable for both the southern and northern regions of a large country, and their cost is a good example for competitors (and, at the same time, the company’s most important advantage, along with the highest quality). By the way, quality concerns not only profiles, but also all the accessories accompanying them.

The disadvantage of KBE is prosaic and requires some drawing of parallels. The fact is that German products (produced directly in Germany) are the standard. But windows produced in Russian factories have a flaw in the form of gradual yellowing of the plastic, which some users did not fail to point out.

Until relatively recently, a plastic window in a house was akin to “know-how” that came far from abroad. Today this thing has become so commonplace that wooden frames look like a rare curiosity, irrevocably giving way to “eternal” plastic. But what is better: a product of carpentry or conveyor technology? What are their advantages and disadvantages? We find out from the detailed comparison table:

Window type

pros

Minuses

Wooden window

Environmental friendliness

Excellent decorative properties

Easy process for repairing chips and small cracks

Protection against the destructive influence of the environment is provided by impregnations and varnishes

Good dustproof performance

Excellent heat and sound insulation

Low dependence on fittings (optionally, you can “embed” any lock or handle)

– The need to periodically renew the protective coating

– Specific cleaning process

– Models without a sealing contour require additional insulation during cold weather

Plasticwindow

Good noise and heat insulation abilities

Aesthetic and modern appearance

Unpretentiousness in cleaning

No need for protective coatings

Technological fittings that provide several options for opening the window/vent

Maintainability

Long service life

– Surface defects are very difficult (almost impossible) to restore using improvised means

– Dependence on fittings (down to a specific series or type)

– If installed incorrectly, they do not provide reliable protection (from freezing in winter and dust in summer), which can only be “cured” by re-installation

1 VEKA

The best range of products. The optimum ratio of price and quality
A country: Germany/Russia
Rating (2019): 5.0

A German brand that actively and successfully retains the largest segment of the domestic consumer audience for its products. The VEKA company entered the Russian market in 1999 and in such a short period of time managed to win a number of significant victories. The opened branch of VEKA Rus became the first in Russia to receive a certificate of compliance with European RAL quality standards - a mark that none of the company’s closest competitors has.

In addition, thanks to the full technical equipment of the production lines of the factories, the company abandoned the production of low-grade products, turning all attention to the production of class “A” profiles. This means that all models of window profiles (of which there are six in VEKA) have a high degree of protection from external environmental factors and are suitable for use in any climatic conditions.

The best manufacturers of middle and premium class plastic windows

5 LG Chem

The best eastern supplier of plastic windows
Country: South Korea
Rating (2019): 4.7

The only representative of the eastern trend in the production of plastic windows, relying on the distribution of goods in the eastern part of Russia. Needless to say: due to the close location, the main consumers of PVC profiles are residents of the Far East (and only a small part of the windows reaches the rest of the large state). This fact largely predetermined the fact that the main characteristics of the product have not yet received more in-depth analysis and study.

Based on user reviews, we can conclude that LG Chem windows (in all their variety) have good insulating characteristics and are made of high-quality glossy plastic. True, the latter often acts as the initiator of problems - if the gloss is damaged, it is not so easy to restore its former appearance. As for the price, it is low in comparison with competitors and, in general, looks good against the backdrop of high quality.

4 Facro

The best windows for the attic part of the house
Country: Poland
Rating (2019): 4.7

The Polish manufacturer of plastic windows Facro, thanks to the introduction of innovative technologies and the highest quality products, has earned the trust of consumers and has become a world leader in the roof window market. The main principles that guide the company are environmental friendliness, safety and reliability of windows. That is why the selection of raw materials and the production process as a whole is carried out under strict control.

Due to the fact that all products are tested in boxes where various natural phenomena and climatic zones are simulated, plastic windows of this brand are distinguished by the best characteristics and wear resistance, and are suitable for installation in regions with even the most severe weather conditions. A wide range of windows and high-quality fittings, distinguished by individuality, allow you to choose a unique solution for the attic part of the house. In addition, all windows from this manufacturer are equipped with the TopSafe system, which increases resistance to burglary and damage. The products of this company are unrivaled and deserve only positive user reviews.

3 Plafen

Manufacturer of premium products
Country: Austria/Russia
Rating (2019): 4.8

Extra-level PVC profiles, the installation of which will satisfy even the most picky buyer. The Plafen assortment includes five model ranges, designated by the letters S, T, E, L, C. The main feature is the stylized profiles of different types of wood, which gives a more expensive look and is suitable for any interior. According to the company's official website, the minimum service life of a window is more than 60 years without any serious breakdowns or flaws. In general, the owners’ comments fully confirm such a serious statement from the manufacturers: with good installation, there are no drafts or freezing.

Of course, it was not without its drawbacks. High-quality windows simply could not help but acquire a hefty price tag, which only a small part of consumers could afford. And the company itself positions itself as a reliable supplier of windows for business, which also scares off ordinary potential buyers.

2 Proplex

Optimal ratio of quality and cost
Country: Austria/Russia
Rating (2019): 4.8

One of the few brands of Austrian/Russian origin, characterized by affordable prices and full adaptation to the climatic conditions of the country. Proplex's assets include the excellent quality of PVC, which is not prone to yellowing and has a high level of strength. This fact is often sufficient for consumers - people are happy to purchase windows for installation in both private houses and apartments. The only problem is that the brand’s assortment contains models whose appearance smacks of hackneyedness and obsolescence. These cost much less than new developments, but show no less convincing results in all operational parameters.

The second problem of Proplex (much more global) is related to the scale of the network - the lack of a certificate of compliance with international standards greatly prevents the company from expanding beyond the Russian market.

1 Deceuninck

Global quality standard
Country: Belgium/Russia
Rating (2019): 4.9

A Belgian concern whose world fame greatly outstrips its fame among Russian consumers. According to authoritative sources, The Deceuninck Group consistently ranks among the world's leading manufacturers of PVC windows.

As for the Russian branch, the most significant contribution to the company’s common cause was receiving a prestigious award for creating the “Favorite Space” profile system. Among the obvious advantages, we should highlight the fact that all window options have a certificate of compliance with international standards. But this plus had a negative impact on the price level, “thanks to” which a relatively small audience resorts to installing Deceuninck windows. If we talk about cheap models, they are frankly worse than similar products from opponents, both in terms of quality and overall appearance. Thus, a world-famous company can be content with only getting into the TOP 15 best, and not a hint of leadership.

The best Russian manufacturers of plastic windows

10 Kaleva

The only Russian full-cycle company
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.5

Kaleva is a Russian company with a by no means Russian name, operating according to a full cycle scheme. This approach involves taking a product from its design to installation according to the customer's order. A rare case, especially among domestic manufacturers. However, even in this field of activity, serious questions arose for the company.

Basically, the company is let down by dealer centers, of which there are at least eight dozen. According to customers, the organization of the installation process in some cities is extremely poor and requires subsequent dismantling and re-replacement. Despite all the quality of PVC profiles, in such a situation they will be haunted by an inevitable loss of performance properties. By the way, the head office does not bother, but delegates solving problems with dealers to the clients themselves. Not the most professional approach, but there is hope that further measures will be taken.

You can order a window for your home almost anywhere in the region, and after installation, the Breathing Windows Factory company guarantees free service support for 7 years. Having used the services of this company, consumers in their reviews note the professionalism of the staff and the best technical characteristics of the products.

7 Panorama

The company from St. Petersburg is not very popular, although it has existed on the domestic market for more than 20 years. It would seem that there are not many prerequisites for this. According to consumers, the company’s PVC profiles are of good quality and, in general, deserve to be, if not in the TOP-3, then certainly in the top five. They have an optimal balance of rigidity, provide good insulation (especially the five- and six-chamber Enwin Waiz 70 and Deceuninck Favorit Space profiles), and also have a pleasant appearance. In addition, the cost of all models (at least standard ones) is within the market average.

The reason for Panorama's low popularity is its approach to customer service. As experts note, the company’s service is not distinguished by efficiency and intrusiveness... to such an extent that information about all the options has to be pulled out, as they say, “by thread.”

6 World of Windows

Best price
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.7

Founded in 2001 in Belgorod, a small enterprise for the production of PVC windows, Mir Okon, by 2008 had become one of the largest manufacturers in Russia using the KBE profile. The most automated workflow allows the company to produce large volumes, which reach up to 750 finished products per shift. Moreover, all equipment for the plant was purchased from well-known German and Italian suppliers. Modern production lines guarantee the highest quality products and have minimized the possible percentage of defects.

When choosing plastic windows for a private house or apartment, price plays an important role, so the windows of this manufacturer are popular with consumers, who, moreover, in their reviews note the high quality of the product and the coherence in the work of the company’s departments. A variety of various configurations in the manufacture of windows will satisfy any customer request.

5 Glasslandia

High quality products
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.7

Having won the most prestigious award in the window industry, “Golden Window,” for the last two years, the Steklandia company enjoys the respect of consumers. The brand was founded in 2001, and the basis of its strategy from the very beginning of its existence was the production of only high-quality PVC structures. For this purpose, high-tech European equipment was purchased, and employees were trained at leading window factories in Europe. Double-glazed windows are manufactured on an automated line from LISEC, and PVC products on a HAFFNER line. Thanks to quality control, the company's products have gained trust and are always popular among consumers.

When choosing a plastic window for an apartment or house, the main criteria are price, appearance and performance characteristics, which in the products of the Steklandia brand have an optimal ratio. The already large range was expanded with products from Trocal premium profiles, which made it possible to satisfy a wide variety of customer requests.

4 Rusokon

The company is particularly proud of its participation in such popular television projects as Housing Issue and School of Repair.

3 Russian windows

Best custom builder
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.8

The Russian Windows company, which began its history in 1996, was a small workshop for the production of PVC structures, which over time turned into a large regional manufacturer. In 2006, the company completely modernized the line, which made it possible to significantly expand the range of products offered and improve its quality characteristics. The configuration of complex and modern equipment supplied to the plant from leading manufacturers such as Bavelloni, Urban and Bystronic was carried out by highly qualified specialists from the EU who had access to perform this type of work. Lines have also been launched that allow for PVC lamination and the production of structures of a non-standard nature and size.
Plastic windows, doors and other products for renovation and construction, produced by the Russian Windows company, are subject to strict quality control at all stages of production. This guarantees the absence of defects and the highest quality of the final product. Thanks to this approach, the company was awarded the “Consumer Trust” award at the All-Russian Manufacturers Competition in 2013. Today, Russian Windows offers the widest range of products, while guaranteeing timely delivery and installation, which is confirmed in their reviews by consumers who are completely satisfied with the quality of service.

2 Labrador

The most high-tech manufacturer
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.9

The Labrador company is the largest manufacturer of metal-plastic (PVC) and aluminum windows in St. Petersburg, and one of the most high-tech in Russia. The production process is fully automated - the plant has modern equipment that allows it to produce seamless windows with a more attractive appearance. Partnership with VEKA guarantees the high quality of the profiles used in the production of windows.

The company's products meet all quality standards and are regularly certified. Plastic windows of the Labrador brand are distinguished by a competitive price, while in terms of sound and heat insulation they are significantly superior to some analogues. The company also offers installation services performed in accordance with GOST and free warranty service for 10 years. In their reviews, users positively note the presence of double-glazed windows with climate control, affordable prices and good service.

1 Montblanc

Optimal balance of performance characteristics
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.9

Montblanc is a subsidiary of the STL-Extrusion concern, which has grown significantly over more than ten years of work on the market. Its main asset was the development of an extensive network of dealers, thanks to which the brand acquired a solid customer base. Not the same as German brands, but still quite decent.

From the point of view of advantages/disadvantages, the company has a strikingly one-sided positive balance sheet - the only liability that can be written down is the lack of an ISO certificate of conformity at factories located in Russia. Otherwise, there is a complete idyll: both in terms of the quality of the windows, and in terms of fittings (provided by partner factories), and in terms of durability. Montblanc's range (currently) includes seven types of profiles, each of which has a unique set of chambers and widths for different climatic conditions. A good and inexpensive option for glazing a house or apartment.

How to choose the best plastic windows?

The main obstacle to choosing the right plastic window for your home or apartment is the fact that there are so many different profiles available. But the difficulties of buyers are not only related to them - any window has many nuances that can dramatically affect its performance characteristics. Therefore, in the selection process, “MarkaQuality” recommends paying attention to the following aspects:

Profile type. According to known standards, window profiles are divided into three groups: blind, turning and tilt-and-turn. The former will be suitable for installation in large areas that do not require ventilation. The remaining options, on the contrary, are best purchased for small, ventilated rooms.

Number of cameras. Here you should be guided by the following principle: the more cameras a window has, the warmer the room will be. Choose the number of double-glazed windows according to the climatic conditions: from three for severe winters, and less if you live in warm areas of the country.

Glass. Recently, manufacturers have moved away from using ordinary glass, replacing it with low-emissivity samples enriched with silver atoms (even safer, even newer). This is very easy to check: a lit match in the case of “emissive” glass will produce not a red, but a violet glow.

Accessories. An element on which we recommend not to skimp. Whatever the frame (aka profile), the main consumables of plastic windows are the fittings (handles, locks and combined awnings).

Manufacturer. Advice, last in order, but most important in terms of significance. Pre-selecting a manufacturer will give you the opportunity to look at something in the range, as well as find out the approximate cost of the order. We strongly recommend that you take a closer look at the TOP 15 nominees.
