    Superdiffusion Tyvek roofing film

    In order for the erected structure to last as long as possible, you need to think about a good waterproofing and vapor barrier film for the roof. The Tyvek membrane will protect the building from moisture and wind. The uniqueness of this material is in its structure. Long, thin polyethylene fibers are connected to each other at a special temperature, forming a durable super-diffusion mesh that breathes and does not allow moisture to enter the thermal insulation. These standards are exclusive and patented by Tyvek DuPont. Roofing film Tyvek has long proven itself on construction sites in Moscow and Russia.

    The Tyvek waterproof membrane effectively protects roofing and wall structures. The membrane prevents air and water from entering from the outside, but allows evaporation to pass through the material. Thus, the material “breathes”. This property is perfect for use in attic or façade structures. Do not forget about the counter rail, which creates a ventilation gap between the insulation and the film. With ventilation space, the functions of the Tyvek membrane increase, although the quality and structure of the Tyvek film provides for overlapped operation with thermal insulation.

    Another advantage of the Tyvek wind and moisture protection membrane is its long service life. It is perfectly preserved even under the influence sun rays, unlike polyester or cotton materials. The film does not absorb moisture and does not lose strength, even if precipitation is heavy. Also, the Tyvek membrane prevents the growth of mold and fungi, thereby protecting structures rafter system home from premature wear. Buying Tyvek film means looking far into the future.

    The lightweight structure of the Tyvek film allows for fairly short time wrap the whole house. Installation is carried out using a stapler and Tyvek vapor-waterproofing tape. High thermal insulation properties porous membranes can reduce the cost of heating your home. The multifunctional abundance of high-strength Tyvek DuPont diffusion membranes today makes it possible to build high-quality houses. Using each product for its intended purpose: wind protection on the walls, and hydro-vapor barrier on the roof. Membranes you can trust are Tyvek.

    Video instructions for installing Tyvek roofing film

    Today they are indispensable when carrying out construction work. One of the most popular and widespread are membrane ones, because they are able to protect the structure from moisture and wind, creating a comfortable microclimate inside the building. There are a huge variety on the market today construction solutions, however, Tyvek is a vapor barrier that is considered one of the most effective.

    Description

    If you want to choose a high-quality vapor barrier, then you should take a closer look at products under the Tyvek brand, which have a non-woven structure. These membranes contain and are manufactured using ultra-high-speed fiber formation technology. The elements are connected to each other under the influence of high temperatures.

    This technology provides increased protective properties, guarantees vapor tightness and high strength. The characteristics make it possible to use Tyvek membranes to protect the exterior of houses, vapor barrier roofs, and for temporary covering during construction delays. To obtain the optimal effect, it is recommended to use the material in combination with fibrous thermal insulation and

    Key Features

    "Tyvek" is a vapor barrier that compares favorably with similar materials such as "Yutofol", "Izospan" or "Nicobar". Among the advantages should be highlighted:

    • no need to provide a ventilation gap during installation;
    • ability to remove moisture from thermal insulation;
    • increased service life of wood structures;
    • maintaining the required level of vapor barrier while maintaining vapor tightness.

    This material has been able to perform its functions for half a century without loss of quality.

    Specifications

    Tyvek vapor barrier, the characteristics of which will be presented below, is offered for sale in several varieties, each of which has its own characteristics. You can find seven membranes that are produced by the manufacturer under the following designations:

    1. Soft.
    2. Supro.
    3. Solid.
    4. Solid Silver.
    5. Housewrap.
    6. AirGuard SD5.
    7. AirGuard Reflective.

    Most important characteristic in this case is vapor permeability. For the first two solutions this parameter is 0.02 Sd (m). The third and fourth options have a vapor permeability of 0.03 Sd (m). The fifth, sixth and seventh membrane options have a vapor permeability of less than 0.02; 5-10 and 2000 Sd (m), respectively.

    The number of layers may differ, for example, in the first, third, fourth and fifth options there is only one layer; in the second and sixth there are two layers. And only the last version of the membrane is distinguished by the presence of 4 layers. All of the listed solutions are windproof, but the operating temperature varies from -40 to +100 in the 1st and 5th options, while in the last two the range is somewhat smaller and ranges from -40 to +80 °C.

    The last two membranes are intended for installation on the wall and roof, while the first membrane can be used exclusively for the roof, but the fifth can be used for walls. Each of the solutions presented by the manufacturer can be used for more than 50 years.

    "Tyvek" is a vapor barrier that must be installed using a certain technology. To do this, the roll should be rolled out across or along the rafters, fastened with staples, the distance between which should be 30 to 50 cm. Then the craftsman should begin installing the counter-lattice, which will provide a gap between the finish and the insulation layer.

    The areas of fastenings and abutments, as well as overlapping areas, should be treated with acrylic or butyl-based insulating tape. This approach can also be used when the fabric is torn. "Tyvek" is a vapor barrier that must be installed with the lettering inside. If you have to carry out work in cold attic rooms that are provided with winter heating, then a vapor barrier will not be required. In this case, the membrane should be placed under the ceiling top floor. Wrapping technology external walls will remain the same as in the case of the roof.

    More about Airguard SD5 vapor barrier

    Tyvek Airguard SD5 vapor barrier has an area of 75 m2 per roll. This construction material used for vapor barrier frame houses and thermally insulated pitched roofs. The material retains its properties while maintaining the required level of vapor barrier.

    Tyvek VCL

    Tyvek VCL membrane for vapor barrier of insulated pitched roofs and frame houses. A distinctive characteristic of Tyvek VCL is the preservation of vapor permeability properties and at the same time maintaining the required level of vapor barrier. Controlled steam transmission (vapor permeability coefficient Sd - 2-4 meters) is ensured by a high-tech functional layer, which is applied to a durable reinforcing base.
    The use of Tyvek VCL in combination with fiber insulation and the Tyvek hydro- and windproof membrane makes it possible to achieve a temperature and humidity balance in the room close in characteristics to log house. A comfortable and healthy microclimate in the room is achieved due to the fact that steam passes in small quantities through vapor barrier layer, but does not linger in the insulation, but easily comes out through the hydro- and windproof membrane. As a result, the normal functioning of the building is ensured without ice freezing in the insulation during the winter period and the accumulation of moisture in building structures during the summer period when air conditioning the premises is reduced.

    Tyvek VCL advantages

      eliminates the “greenhouse” effect, which is present in attics built using traditional polyethylene vapor barrier

      a comfortable temperature and humidity balance is maintained inside the building

      protects the building from destruction due to the fact that the building structure has the ability to dry inside the building

      strong, durable and easy to install material

      produced using unique technology at the DuPont plant in Luxembourg

      environmentally friendly and healthy material.

    Tyvek VCL installation

    The material is rolled out perpendicularly or parallel to the rafters with inside attic and fixed to them with brackets in increments of 300 - 500 mm. It is recommended to install a batten over the material to provide a gap between the interior lining and the vapor barrier. Tyvek® VCL can be installed on any side; it is preferable to install the smooth side, with markings, inside the attic.

    During installation vapor barrier membrane Tyvek VCL must be sealed with double-sided adhesive tape on butyl rubber or acrylic base. Similarly, the material is mounted into the walls of a frame house.
