An exclamation mark can also light up in the form of an “attention” sign, both on a red and yellow background. This is one of the most big problems in the manufacture of an amplifier. Only beautifully executed inscriptions give the device completeness. I already wrote how to make inscriptions using toner transfer to a hot pad, but recently another idea came to me. There is such a wonderful thing - photoresist. With its help they are made printed circuit boards. It is available in spray and film form. So I conducted some experiment with film. The photoresist itself is located between two protective films.

To apply the sticker, you need to remove one Mylar film and apply the photoresist to the aluminum panel. All this must be done almost in the dark, which is why there are no photographs. Then, through a sheet of paper, iron the photoresist with an iron at a temperature of 120 degrees. Then remove the outer protective film. Next, you need to make a template on a 1:1 scale by printing it on film for a laser printer.

The template is placed on the panel and pressed against the glass. Photoresist exposed ultraviolet lamp from a distance of fifteen centimeters for fifteen minutes.

After exposure, the workpiece needs to be developed. Development is carried out in a one percent solution soda ash(Na2CO3) until the unexposed areas are completely dissolved.

Then the workpiece must be etched in ferric chloride. This process was hectic and there was simply no time for photography. The entire etching process took no more than fifteen seconds. After etching, wash the panel hot water. The photoresist itself is removed with alkali, a weak three percent solution of caustic soda (NaOH). I decided to try making etched symbols on mirror surface and mirror on etched. It turned out very well on the mirror image, but not so much on the etched one. Perhaps my solution, in which more than one board was etched, is to blame. I noticed a copious precipitation of copper from the solution onto the aluminum and the etching process stopped under it. For some reason, the panel doesn’t look very good in the pictures, although in reality it’s just great. You should try etching with a diluted solution or caustic potassium.
