How dangerous are currents induced by power lines?

Conductive objects placed in electric field, heat up the charge, and a person touching such an object may feel an unpleasant or frightening electric shock at the moment when his body passes the current through itself, becoming a conductor.

9 Issues Considered When Designing a Transmission Network

Transmission and distribution network projects electrical energy wear very individual character. This is due to the fact that in each case it is necessary to take into account the specific conditions of the region supplied with energy, load requirements, geographical conditions, technical standards and requirements, the state of existing systems, and much more.

Switching and durability of low-voltage circuit breakers

Factors of durability of operation are considered low voltage circuit breakers(how long the contacts will withstand) due to shutdown operations.

Cross stitch effect

XPE is a recognized abbreviation for cross-linked polyethylene. This and other synthetic materials with cross-linking, of which ethylene propylene rubber (ERP) is the most notable example, are increasingly used for cable insulation over a wide range of voltages.

When a consumer complains that equipment is damaged due to voltage deviation

While voltage fluctuations and momentary power outages cause the most common power quality problems, there are other causes of equipment failure and disruption.

Electrical Maintenance Management 4

Based on the evaluation of the various factors discussed earlier, and the evaluation of other factors, if any, a decision is made to implement condition monitoring based maintenance. How exactly this program can be practically implemented is discussed below.

The impact of any equipment maintenance initiatives, including condition monitoring, must be predictable and measurable and related to the performance and reliability of the production unit. In addition, it should be remembered that monitoring systems, especially fully integrated technologies, are themselves subject to failures and failures and require maintenance.

Electrical Maintenance Management 2

A predictive maintenance management program is a maintenance program established for electrical equipment based on regular monitoring of its actual physical condition, operating parameters, operational efficiency and other indicators. A condition monitoring-based maintenance management program consists of techniques that attempt to “predict” or diagnose problems in electrical equipment based on the analysis of acquired data.

Electrical Maintenance Management 1

Over the past two decades, the concept of equipment maintenance has taken on different dimensions and has changed significantly, perhaps more than any other management discipline. Electrical equipment, which has a rather complex design, requires new methods of maintenance, and a change in views on the organization of maintenance and the responsibilities associated with it.

What to consider when choosing a location for a substation

At the stage of choosing a location for an electrical substation, it is necessary to determine the location that the future electrical power substation will occupy, including the placement of its main equipment.

Why is continuous partial discharge monitoring necessary?

Periodic inspections can leave your equipment in a condition that is virtually unknown. In the period of time since the previous inspection, insulation defects and wear can very quickly develop, which are often not detected by traditional off-line inspections.

What to do in case of a fire at a substation?

When a fire is discovered in a substation, the first step is usually to call the fire department so that they are prepared to extinguish the fire and protect the equipment and property surrounding the substation outside the fire zone.

Factors considered for a good grounding system

An industrial enterprise or other organization that requires a grounding system for any facility should carefully consider the conditions set out in the article.

Purpose of the work: to study the purpose and operating conditions of the MMO 110/1250/20 U1 switch; the process of extinguishing the arc in circuit breakers and the design of the arc extinguishing device; study the maintenance procedure during operation of the MMO 110/1250/20 U1 circuit breaker.

1 Theoretical explanations

1.1 Purpose

A small-volume circuit breaker type MMO 110/1250/20 U1 with one spring-motor drive ZPM 70000 is designed for operational and emergency switching on and off of part of the power distribution network. It can be installed in open switchgears and is designed to operate in temperate climates with the following climatic parameters:

Ambient air temperature is not higher than plus 40°C (with an average daily temperature not higher than plus 35°C) and not lower:

a) minus 40°С (occasionally minus 45°С) for switches filled with ATM -65 transformer oil according to TU 33-1 -225 -69.

b) minus 25С for switches filled with transformer oil in accordance with GOST 982-68.

1.2.2 Relative air humidity - up to 100%.

1.2.3 Altitude above sea level - up to 1000 m.

Normal operation of the switch is not guaranteed:

– in an environment with big amount conductive vapors or dust, which may cause big pollution isolation;

– in an environment containing chemically aggressive gases;

– in close proximity to explosive and fire hazardous objects;

– in places where the switch will be subject to industrial vibrations, shocks, etc.;

– if the instructions in these instructions are not followed.

The full type designation of the MMO 110/1250/20 U4 circuit breaker is deciphered as follows: MMO - symbol series, 110 – rated voltage in kilovolts, 1250 – rated current in amperes, 20 – rated shutdown current in kiloamperes, U – for areas with a temperate climate, 1 – placement category: for outdoor installation.

The designation of the spring drive of the ZPM 70000 circuit breaker is deciphered as follows: ZPM is the symbol of the drive, 70000 is the average potential energy of the switching springs in the wound-up state, kg cm. The technical data of the switch is given in table. 8.
