Instructions for using Bergauf Keramik Maximum glue

Compound

Cement binder, fractionated sand, mineral fillers, modifying polymer additives.

Preparing the base

The base must comply with the requirements of SNiP 3.04.01-87 and have sufficient load-bearing capacity.

Bergauf Keramik Maximum adhesive is recommended for attaching ceramic, tiles, porcelain stoneware, including large-format, artificial and natural stone, on concrete, cement bases, cellular concrete bases, cement waterproofing coatings, cement, cement-lime plasters and putties, gypsum plasterboard, gypsum fiber board and “warm floors”. The product is recommended for swimming pools, work on balconies, facades and plinths, as well as critical foundations.

When carrying out work on the “Warm Floor” system, it is recommended to turn off the heating at least 2 days before starting work. Turning on the “Warm Floor” is possible after 7 days.

Clean the surface from dirt and dust, peeling old coatings and oil stains - anything that can impair the adhesion of the material to the base. The prepared base must be treated with Bergauf primer (“PRIMER” or “TIEFGRUNT” - depending on the type of base) and dried for 4 hours. Highly absorbent substrates (e.g. cellular concrete) should be primed twice with Bergauf “TIEFGRUNT” primer. We recommend treating concrete, reinforced concrete, other low-absorbent and critical substrates, gypsum board, gypsum board with Bergauf Beton Kontakt and dry for 4 hours.

For unevenness more than 5 mm (up to 15 mm):

If the surface of the base is not primed, the following consequences are possible: reduced open time and low adhesion strength of the tile to the base.

Preparation of the solution

Use clean containers and tools to prepare the solution.

Attention!

The properties of the product are guaranteed only if the proportions of mixing with water and the procedure for preparing the solution are strictly observed.

  1. Fill the mixture with water (from +5°C to +25°C) in the following proportion: per 1 kg of mixture - 0.23 - 0.25 l of water; for 25 kg of mixture - 5.75 - 6.25 liters of water.
  2. Stir until smooth*.
  3. Wait 5 minutes for everything to finish chemical reactions.
  4. Stir again.

The prepared solution must be used within 3 hours from the moment of mixing.

Safety precautions

Do not allow material to come into contact with eyes or Airways.

Storage

Guarantee period storage in a dry place and in closed original packaging is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

The manufacturer is not responsible for non-compliance with the technology for working with the material, for its use for purposes and conditions not provided for in these instructions, as well as in the case of the introduction of foreign components and substances into the product.

Operating procedure:

  1. Apply the prepared mixture with the even edge of a spatula onto the base. The adhesive must be applied to an area that can be covered within the next 20 minutes (open time).
  2. The applied mixture is leveled with a notched trowel***.
  3. You can adjust the position of the tile within 15 minutes. Position the tiles so that the gap with other tiles is at least 1 mm. The seam between the tiles can be filled with glue no more than half. The required width of the joints between the tiles is determined based on the size of the tile, operational and aesthetic features.
  4. When working with large slabs, low-absorbent tiles or natural stone, it is necessary to additionally apply glue to the back side of the tile and also level it with a notched trowel. For better adhesion, the direction of the grooves of the mixture applied to the tile should be perpendicular to the direction of the grooves on the base. In case of working with particularly heavy slabs, it is recommended to use additional fasteners (screws, dowels, initial profile and tiling from bottom to top)
  5. Remove excess adhesive from the tile surface with a damp sponge before it dries. After drying, excess glue can only be removed mechanically.
  6. Grouting of joints is allowed 12 hours after fixing the tiles for vertical surfaces and 24 hours for horizontal surfaces. To fill the joints, it is recommended to use Bergauf KITT or Elast Premium grout.
  7. When laying tiles in a bathroom or swimming pool, it is recommended to begin operation no earlier than 7 days for a bathroom, 28 days for a swimming pool, after finishing the tiling work.

**The choice of spatula depends on the size of the tile: For tiles with a side up to 10 cm - the size of the spatula tooth is 4 mm; For tiles with a side up to 30 cm - the size of the trowel tooth is 6-8 mm; For tiles with a side up to 60 cm, the trowel tooth size is 8-12 mm.

Attention! Draft, poorly prepared surface, low humidity or elevated temperatures may reduce open time and pot life of the finished mixture.
