Clean the water cooler by hand. Cleaning and sanitizing the water cooler. Instructions for cleaning the cooler

Experts recommend cleaning the cooler every six months, but it is advisable to wash the device once every 2-3 months or more often. Water, even distilled, leaves marks on the walls of the tubes thin film, in which bacteria appear over time. The taste and smell of the liquid change and it becomes hazardous to health.

Preparatory stage

It is better to carry out hygiene procedures when the bottle is empty and needs to be replaced with another. The cooler is disconnected from the network and wait until the hot water cools down. It is advisable to cover the floor with a rubber mat or a piece of film, disconnect the drip tray and place a bucket or basin under the taps. Hot water is released first, followed by cold water. It is not recommended to open both taps at once, otherwise disinfection will not give the desired effect.

When the liquid runs out, you should find the water drain valve. It can be located at the bottom or on the rear panel of the cooler. Press the plug or unscrew it, depending on the model of equipment. When the device is completely empty, the second stage of cleaning begins.

External disinfection

Hands should be washed thoroughly with antibacterial soap and treated with an antiseptic, or wear rubber gloves for dishes. Moisten a soft cloth in a soap solution made from special means"Kremklin". Regular dish detergent will do, but nothing washing powder or liquid soap.

Go over the cooler body with a napkin, paying attention to the rear panel. That's where it accumulates greatest number dust, which causes equipment to overheat and perform worse. Wipe the grill thoroughly, go over the top with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture and divorces.

Removable parts

Disconnect the drip tray from the cooler. Unscrew the taps, noting their location. If necessary, mark with colored tape or tape where cold water should flow and where hot water should flow. Glue a red and blue stripe or circle onto the body.

Some people wash parts under the tap, but it is better to use distilled water. Heat required quantity in a teapot. Prepare a soap solution in one container, fill the other with clean rinse liquid.

Used for faucets and drip trays detergent or "Antikleen" spray. You cannot do without a thin, hard brush, which is used to clean the parts from the inside. It is better to soak removable parts for 2-3 hours to destroy as many germs as possible. After thoroughly rub the inside with a brush, do not forget about outer surface and depressions in which bacteria can grow.

The drip tray must be disassembled to gain access to the far corners of the tray. Reassemble only after complete drying. Be sure to remove the bottle receiver by turning it counterclockwise. Unscrew carefully so as not to break anything. Soak along with the rest of the parts, you can additionally treat with an antiseptic. The bottle receptacle is one of the main places where bacteria accumulate, because it is constantly in contact with the lids and necks of water containers.

Cleaning from the inside

The cooler must be disinfected from the inside using a special product “BIOR 1”. Be sure to screw the washed and dry faucets into place; the drip tray can be attached later, along with the bottle receptacle.

125 ml of the antibacterial component is diluted in 5 liters of liquid and poured into the hole where the bottle receiver used to be. Wait an hour, drain the solution: first open the taps, and then unscrew the cap. Return to place and prepare descaler: combine 5 liters of distilled water with 100–150 g citric acid. Crush until the sediment is completely dissolved, and then slowly pour into the tank.

To make sure that the cooler is completely filled with solution, you need to open the taps. Is the stream weak and intermittent? You need to add more water with citric acid. Does water flow out with strong pressure? You can begin the second phase of cleaning.

Plug the cooler into a socket and turn on the boiling mode. Turn off and unplug when the water gets hot. Wait 3 hours until the liquid inside has cooled, place a bucket and drain the solution. Remove the plug, dry the cooler and wipe it from the inside with a dry cloth. Repeat the procedure with citric acid 3 times, or 4 times, until the solution becomes clean, without any hint of rust.

This method will improve taste qualities water and will prolong the operation of the device, but you need to get rid of the remaining disinfectant component using clean water. It is poured inside in a thin stream and released through open taps. The manipulations should be repeated several times. It is not recommended to use tap water, which contains a lot of bacteria and harmful impurities.

All that remains is to check whether the drain plug fits tightly to the body, return the drip tray and a clean bottle receptacle to their place. Connect the cooler to the power supply, not forgetting to install a new bottle of water. Turn on the heating to make sure all systems are working properly.

Tip: Before drinking water from the cooler, you should take a glass of hot and cold liquid and pour it into the sink. If there is a strange taste, you need to rinse the device again.

  • Do not use powders or abrasives with aggressive additives.
  • Do not fill cold water into hot containers, wait until they cool down.
  • Wash the bottle receptacle regularly, at least 2 times a week, and preferably more often.
Keep the cooler in the shade, because due to direct sun rays the water may “ferment”, and the walls of the apparatus will become covered with a greenish film.

If there are children in the house, you need to make sure that they do not drink a solution of citric acid or a chemical.

It is advisable to wash the cooler with rubber gloves to protect the skin from burns and the device from excess bacteria.

Caring for the dispenser is not difficult, but cleaning is time-consuming and requires some skill. Sometimes the best solution is to give the cooler to professionals who will do everything quickly and efficiently, and will provide a spare model for the duration of cleaning.

Video: how to rinse a water cooler with your own hands

In this article we will digress a little from regular topics. Probably everyone has already noticed how often we began to use water coolers in the office and at home. A water cooler (dispenser) is a household appliance. And this requires care and cleaning. The latter is recommended to be carried out in accordance with the frequency of use, but not less than once every six months. If a lot of people use the device (office), then it would be logical to reduce this interval to three months, and at home it would be best to reduce it to one month.

The device needs to be cleaned mainly to remove hazardous human body bacteria. It becomes even more polluted due to inattentive and careless attitude towards it during operation.

How to clean the cooler yourself

For the operation you will need:

  • thin rubber gloves;
  • cleaning brush;
  • sponge;
  • dishwashing liquid;
  • disinfectant;
  • supply of clean water in 5-liter bottles.

Preparing for cleaning

Wash your hands and wear gloves. Unplug the machine's power cord from power socket and wait about a quarter of an hour until the heated water in the cooler tank cools down.
Dilute the disinfectant solution in a bottle, following the instructions on the label. If the solution somehow gets on your skin, rinse it with running water for a couple of minutes.

Procedure for sanitary maintenance of the device

1. Draining the remaining contents

  • Remove the water tank from the device. Drain water from it into prepared containers through the water supply taps.
  • Then remove any remaining water through the drain (usually on the back of the case). By the way, the water may still be hot, be careful!
  • Close the taps and drain.

2. Rinsing with a brush and sponge

  • Unscrew the taps from the housing. Carefully and carefully, using a brush and sponge, wipe them from all sides and from the inside with dishwashing liquid. Then rinse thoroughly under running water.
  • Wash the entire body of the device with this liquid, especially the corner areas.
  • Screw the taps, each into its own hole, according to their color (red, blue).

3. Washing with disinfectant solution

  • Unscrew the taps, having previously installed the prepared bottles under them. Carefully pour the disinfectant solution into the recess of the device (a bowl with a needle for the container) until it flows out of the tap.
  • Make sure there is flow from both faucets. Twist them. Add more disinfectant solution into the cavity.
  • Do not touch the device with the disinfectant solution during disinfection for at least an hour.
  • Then drain the solution through the taps and drain hole. Don't forget to tighten them.

4. Rinsing the cooler from disinfectant solution

  • Unscrew the taps, installing empty bottles in advance. Fill the cup with the needle clean water until it flows from the tap. Check that it is flowing from each tap. Then twist them.
  • Next, open the drain device and remove any remaining rinsing water. Don't forget to close it.
  • Attention! The water remaining after rinsing the disinfectant solution should not be drunk.
  • Carry out the rinsing phase again. In total, the device is washed 3–4 times.

5. Final phase of washing operations

  • Place a new container (without sticker) with water on the device.
  • Connect to an outlet. Wait until the water is ready to dispense.
  • The unit is cleaned and ready for further use!

In fact, the process of cleaning the cooler does not take much time. The main thing is to follow all the instructions in order - and you will succeed!

As you know, on any surface that comes into contact with water, sediment appears, clogging parts, and bacteria also multiply, which can result in an unpleasant color and aroma. Like any dishes, sink, bathroom, etc., the cooler must be periodically cleaned and rinsed (after all, bacteria do not sleep).

Before you take on this useful task, you need to understand that if a couple of years have passed since the purchase, then you most likely will not be able to properly clean the water cooler. Then you have a direct route to specialists who, having disassembled it with a professional solution, will wash the parts needed for cleaning and (most importantly) put it back together. If you haven’t cleaned the cooler for five years or more (oh horror!), then only a garbage dump will help it.

So, how to clean a water cooler or, as it is also called, a dispenser, so that it serves you faithfully (or rather, with clean water) for many, many years.

Three rules to remember

Firstly, cleaning the cooler, maybe we will disappoint someone, is done at least once a year. The frequency depends on the level of water consumption or, in other words, how long it takes to empty the bottle. Naturally, if the cooler is located at the entrance of the plant, workers must monitor its cleaning almost weekly. Well, you need to pay attention to your pet dispenser friend at least once every six months.

Secondly, if you decide to clean the cooler, then remember - safety is paramount! Do not forget that this is a device in front of you, which, like any other Appliances, afraid of water. Therefore, please turn off the power to the cooler by removing the plug (namely, the electric plug) from the socket before starting cleaning.

Thirdly, never clean the dispenser with abrasives or various types of solvents, such as benzenes. Also avoid steam cleaners and devices that spray liquids under high pressure. It is better to wash each part by hand separately, using the same detergent you use to wash dishes (only a clean sponge, please don’t forget).

Cleaning process

First, after turning off the power, wash the tray, drip tray, and other parts that are easily removable in detergent. You should also clean the grille located on the rear panel of the device from accumulated dirt. We wipe all the parts with a soft cloth (you need to rub as thoroughly as possible, but carefully).

Secondly, before washing, remember that one of the tanks is with hot water, so we wait until it cools completely and drain the liquid through the tap. Having prepared a solution of citric acid, calculating 100 grams of powder per 5 liters of water, carefully pour it into the tank. Next, turn on the cooler, let the water heat up, and leave it for about half a day (already turned off). Then, drain the solution through the drain taps, rinsing them at the same time. If you remember, we even managed to remove the smell from the microwave and quickly clean the freezer with citric acid. What can we say about some kind of cooler. Don't forget that there is also a tank with cold water(it turns out) you need to do the same procedure with him.

Thirdly, after the cleaning procedure, do not forget to rinse the tanks. Again, filling them with (now) clean water and then draining them. If necessary, repeat the procedure until the taste of lemon or some other flavor is not felt. When draining the water, we press the taps, achieving a continuous stream (if something is not flowing, there is no need to beat the tap - there may simply not be enough water in the tank).

Firstly, depending on the dispenser model, there is a drain valve on its back or bottom cover. It must be remembered that when washing it must be kept open. In this position, the remaining liquid is completely drained, which, for some reason, did not pour out through the drain taps (we hope that the latter remained unharmed).

Secondly, there are different tank sizes and the five liters of cleaning solution we made is not a panacea. If, for example, according to the instructions for the cooler, containers of other sizes are used, then we prepare as much as necessary to flush the system. And don’t forget that everything needs to be done more carefully (comrades), including achieving complete dissolution of the citric acid powder using clean (!) water, dishes, hands and thoughts.

Thirdly, during the operation of the cooler you need to become familiar with one intimate procedure, which must be done when replacing the bottle. Namely, rinse and disinfect the bottle receiver with the needle as thoroughly as possible (this is where the bottle is attached). And, importantly, wipe the bottle cap with a damp cloth; you cannot be sure that all loaders and trade workers read “Moidodyr” in childhood. As you know, bacilli and other microbial vermin have the amazing ability to accumulate in the most unnecessary places. Knowing their breeding points and regularly fighting them in the bud, you will ensure both purity drinking water, as well as the stable operation of the device, which supplies you and those around you with clean, cold (warm), mineral and, we hope, drinking water.

Water coolers are now installed in all offices and government institutions. People who care about their health install water machines in their homes - fortunately, the choice of coolers today is incredibly huge. And while office coolers are usually sent to specialized companies for cleaning, home coolers can be cleaned yourself. Any water cooler should be cleaned at least once a month - this way you can avoid “overgrowing” of pipes and taps.

First of all, disconnect the cooler from electrical supply. Then wipe its body with a damp cloth. Remove the drip tray and any detachable parts. Soak them in a solution of regular dishwashing detergent. Drain the cold and hot water from the cooler into any suitable container. Drain the remaining water in the system by opening the plug in the water drain valve (it can be located in front or at the bottom rear of the cooler body). Remove the butelepremnik by turning it clockwise. Soak in dishwashing detergent solution.

Prepare a cleaning solution from 100 grams of citric acid and 5 liters of water. Slowly pour the prepared mixture into the water container - make sure that the water has time to go inside the cooler. Check whether the water tanks are completely filled by turning off the cold and hot water taps in turn. If the tanks are full, then water from the taps will flow in a continuous stream. Close both taps and plug the cooler into a power outlet. Set the hot water switch to the "On" position. After automatic shutdown cooler (the water will heat up), turn the switch to the “Off” position and disconnect the cooler from the power supply. Leave the heated water with citric acid in the cooler for 5-6 hours. Then drain it through the taps, and the remainder through the open plug in the water drain valve. Fill the cooler now with clean water and drain it all again as described above. Reassemble the cooler in the reverse order, having previously washed all the removed parts.

A cooler is a multifunctional water device that both heats water and cools it. Timely washing will increase its service life and allow you to enjoy clean water for a long time.

Maintenance household appliances at the proper level of cleanliness, will help us extend their service life and not harm ourselves due to poor environmental conditions. Among the great variety of devices that help us in the household and make our existence easier, there are some that you don’t see very often at home, but there are more than enough of them in offices.

Widespread use of water coolers

As you probably already guessed, today we will talk about water coolers, or more precisely, about how to clean a water cooler without the help of specialists, on your own. There are no difficulties when carrying out this kind of work at home, the main thing is to follow a simple algorithm of actions.

Pure water

IN Lately Many people use coolers not only at work, but also place them at home. This is a completely normal solution if heavy water flows from the tap, with a large number of various impurities and minerals that the filter cannot remove. In this case, using a cooler allows you to always receive clean and fresh bottled water.

However, the water will remain this way until the cooler itself becomes dirty, so you should not wait until a green coating or white scale forms on it, you need to clean the device regularly. If you focus on sanitary standards, then they advise carrying out general cleaning of the device once every six months, and you need to wash and outer part. Special attention It's worth paying attention to the grille at the back of the cooler, where the condenser is located. The largest amount of dust accumulates on it.

For home use the optimal cleaning cycle, according to many housewives, is 1-2 months, during which time a decent amount of dirt will already have accumulated in the device, which is worth removing if you don’t want to drink dirty water with microbial flora. Bacteria still get into the cooler through roundabout routes, most often when installing new bottles.

Correct installation of the bottle on the cooler

To clean and wash the cooler at home, you need to decide when to replace the next bottle. We remove the empty container and do not put a new one in yet. Then you need to disconnect the device from the network and wait a little until the water in the hot liquid container cools down. We drain the water, completely emptying the device, first from the hot tap, then from the cold one.

To clean the cooler from dirt we will need the following equipment:

  • dishwashing composition;
  • containers for detergent composition;
  • sponge and brush to remove dirt;
  • rags or napkins for cleaning;
  • rubber gloves to protect hands.

To wash and disinfect the cooler, you can use a composition based on a special detergent, which is sold in a hardware store, for example, the Bior brand. But at home it is permissible to use folk remedies, cheap and simple.

Citric acid does an excellent job of removing scale and disinfecting, and also has a pleasant smell and taste, so we will use it to prepare the cleaning solution. The consistency is as follows: for 5 liters of water 100 grams of acid. Check that there is no water left in the cooler system, drain it completely.

Cleaning the device

The best place to start cleaning your cooler at home is from the taps. They are easy to remove, which makes our work much easier. To clean faucets, we use regular dish soap, a rag and a brush to thoroughly rinse the insides. Try to get into all the hard-to-reach places, because that’s where most of the dirt accumulates.

After thoroughly rinsing the taps of the detergent, wipe them dry with a rag or napkin and install them back on the device. At the next stage, we are cleaning the drip tray, which is located under the taps. It can be easily pulled out and disassembled, so no difficulties are expected. We wash the containers using the same dishwashing liquid.

The taps can be easily unscrewed from the cooler

To remove the device for securing the bottle to the device, you need to turn it counterclockwise. We also take it to the bathroom and wash it thoroughly using dishwashing detergent and a sponge. Then, through the water hole, pour the prepared citric acid composition into the system. It is necessary to fill all containers of the device with this liquid.

To check how full the containers are, simply open the tap. If the stream is weak, then the containers are half empty, and vice versa, with a strong stream you have filled them to the end.

To remove scale we need to boil lemon solution in a hot water container. Therefore, we connect the device to the network and look at the hot water indicator. As soon as it goes out, the device can be turned off, the lemon solution has boiled. Now you need to leave the cooler turned off for several hours, ideal overnight, during which time the containers will be well disinfected, and the scale will move away from the walls. Do not forget to warn your family about your procedures with the cooler so that they do not get drunk with the detergent composition.

Later required amount time, drain the infused liquid through the taps. Now we need to rinse the containers from any remaining lemon mixture. To do this, we fill them out again plain water and drain through the taps. As before, to completely fill the system, we will need to pour 4-5 liters of liquid. Do not use the drained liquid for anything, just pour it into the toilet, it contains too many residual contaminants.

Small device for family use

Now you can assemble the device and prepare it for everyday work. Be sure to close the drain valve while installing the bottle receptacle in place.

External processing

Having reassembled the water device, you need to prepare it for operating mode, for which it would not be superfluous to wipe it also from the outside.

While the device is not connected to the network, using a damp cloth and soap solution, you can treat its body. Pay special attention to the back of the cooler, where the largest amount of dust usually accumulates.

When the device is washed with outside, you can install a fresh bottle and start the device. To have access to good, clean and hot water, we just need to wait until it boils.

If you haven't washed it off well enough cleaning composition, then at first there may be a slight lemon taste in the water. However, as you use the device, it quickly goes away.

As you can see, cleaning the cooler yourself is quite possible, and very simple. This procedure will not bring any difficulties. Do it with monthly regularity, and you will always drink clean and high-quality water.
