What is included in the slime? What is slime made from? What is this strange toy?

Greetings, friends!

Any child, and sometimes even an adult, is interested in playing with such a funny toy as slime. It is also called slim or headgam. This is a very popular pastime among children. It's fun to throw and watch it spread across the surface.

But it is not at all necessary to buy slime that is made from chemicals. After all, this is unsafe for the child’s health. Making your own unusual toy with your own hands is very simple. You don’t have to spend a lot of time on the manufacturing process, and you will need a minimum of components that everyone has in their home. This allows you to literally make a toy in five minutes that will delight kids. How to make slime at home? We offer recipes to choose from.

Made from PVA glue and starch

Components you will need:

  • 25 grams of PVA glue (as fresh as possible);
  • food coloring (not a large number of);
  • 70 grams of liquid starch;
  • dense polyethylene bag.

Mix dye and starch in a bag. If you don’t have food, you can use paint, brilliant green or beet juice. Do not add a large amount of dye. This will cause traces of the slime to remain during play. If it is not possible to use liquid starch, then you can dilute regular starch in a ratio of 1:2.

Next, glue is poured in, the bag is closed and tied. All ingredients are mixed well until a thick, homogeneous mass is formed. Merges excess liquid, the contents are wiped. Lizun is ready! You can safely play with the resulting toy. To prevent dust from accumulating on the slime, it is recommended to store it in a container that closes tightly. It will last about a week.

You may not succeed the first time, but don’t despair. The main thing is to maintain proportions.

From baking soda

Children can play with this toy only under the supervision of an adult, as it contains: detergent. After playing, you should wash your child's hands well.

For the composition you will need:

Mix detergent, dye and water in a prepared container. Then soda is added and mixed well. The mixture should be quite thick. If the consistency is too thick, you can dilute it with water. An entertaining toy is ready to play! The only note: you should be careful that children do not put the slime in their mouth.

From flour

This method of making slime is ideal for young children. If you use a dye of natural origin, the toy will become absolutely safe. Certainly, natural dye does not differ in brightness and color saturation. But slime containing such a component will not harm the health of children.

Required components:

  • ¼ cup hot water;
  • ¼ cup cold water;
  • 400 grams of any flour;
  • a little natural dye.

Pour the sifted flour into a small bowl, add first cold and then warm water. Do not use boiling water under any circumstances, otherwise you will end up with a regular paste. Mix everything thoroughly until the lumps dissolve and the mass becomes homogeneous. Add dye and mix again. The result should be sticky mass. Place the mixture in a cool place for 4 hours. When the mass has cooled and acquired the required shape, you can give it to the children for a fun game.

From washing powder

Making such a slime is very simple. The only thing is that instead of loose powder you need to use a gel-like one. Other products, such as shower gel or liquid soap, will not be able to replace it. They contain completely different components.

To make slime you need to take:

  • ¼ cup office glue;
  • 70 grams of gel powder;
  • dye of natural origin;
  • latex gloves;
  • bowl.

Glue is poured into the bowl. Its quantity can be increased or decreased. It all depends on the desired size of the toy. Add dye and stir until a uniform color is obtained. Then the powder is added and mixed thoroughly again. The mass should become sticky and resemble putty in consistency. If the mixture is too thick, dilute with a few drops of powder.

Next, put on gloves, remove the mixture from the bowl and knead well, like kneading dough. In the process, the mass becomes elastic and soft, and all excess liquid flows out. That's all! This slime is stored in a container with a lid. If it starts to thaw, put it in the refrigerator.

From shampoo

Also a simple option. Components:

  • any shampoo;
  • dishwashing liquid.

The same number necessary components mixed in a pre-prepared container. The ingredients should not contain additional substances, for example, grains, as in a scrub. The color of the toy will directly depend on the color of the materials.

The ingredients are thoroughly mixed and placed in the refrigerator for at least a day. When the mass acquires the required consistency, you can play with the slime. This toy should only be stored in the refrigerator. Otherwise it will melt and lose its shape. You can play with slime for about a month. Care must be taken to ensure that a lot of dust does not accumulate on it. If the slime gets too dirty, you will have to throw it away and make a new one.

From alcohol and borax

To make a toy you need:

  • water;
  • polyvinyl alcohol (dry powder);
  • sodium borate;
  • dye.

Surely many people are scared by the Borax component. But no need to worry, sodium borate is freely available in all pharmacies.

So, the powder is poured into enamel dishes and diluted with water, following the instructions on the pack. Just don't dilute all the alcohol at once.

Place on the fire and heat for about 45 minutes, stirring constantly. Then it cools down.

Dissolve 2 tablespoons of sodium borate in a glass of warm water, wait until the crystals disperse and strain.

Components:

  • half a teaspoon of borax;
  • 30 grams of glue;
  • 1.5 glasses of water;
  • iron oxide;
  • dye.

Borax is dissolved in a glass of water in a previously prepared bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the remaining water and glue. Mix well and add paint. To make a glowing slime, you can add phosphor paint instead of regular dye.

Very carefully pour the borax solution into the diluted glue, stirring constantly and gently. When the mass acquires hardness and the desired consistency and viscosity, you need to stop pouring in the borate solution. The rest of it should be poured out.

Smooth the prepared slime onto a flat surface. Pour a small amount of iron oxide into the middle and mix well until a homogeneous mixture is formed. grey colour. The magnetic toy is ready. When a magnet is brought to the slime, it will begin to reach for it.

Why might the slime fail?

  • There are times when everything seems to be done according to the instructions, but a fun toy still doesn’t turn out. It depends on the constituent materials that are used for the slime. All ingredients differ from each other, and significantly. For example, different manufacturers. Because of this, the end result is completely different. Therefore, there is no need to strictly follow one or another option. The amount of materials used may vary significantly. If you don't succeed in making slime right away, you can try again and again. Moreover, the process does not take much time.
  • A properly made slime should be a homogeneous mass and easily removed from the bowl in which the components were mixed.
  • If the toy sticks strongly to your palms and is difficult to remove from the surface, it needs to be diluted a little with starch or water.
  • Slime or slime (from English Slime) is a toy that has a viscous jelly-like shape, reminiscent of a non-Newtonian fluid. It has two main components: a polymer and a thickener, initially they were polysaccharide or guar gum and borax. This is a toy that does not necessarily need to be purchased in a store, since there are many ways to make it yourself at home from available ingredients. There are at least 22 recipes for this type of toy.

    There are many ways to create this toy. But since this is a toy, you should not forget about safety measures during its manufacture, as well as while playing with it.

    From shampoo and salt

    One the most simple methods it will require:

    • Shampoo;
    • Salt.
    1. Take about 4 tablespoons of shampoo and add a little salt to it.
    2. Thorough mixing is required after each addition of salt.
    3. This is repeated until the mixture becomes viscous.
    4. After this, put the resulting mass in the refrigerator.

    Made from plasticine

    Children will enjoy the game, as well as the process of creating plasticine slime.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 packet of gelatin;
    • A piece of plasticine;
    • Water.
    1. Gelatin is poured into cold water.
    2. The correct proportion is indicated in the instructions on the gelatin package.
    3. After an hour, the pan is transferred to the stove until the gelatin mixture boils.
    4. While the gelatin is being prepared, you need to knead a piece of plasticine with your hands.
    5. 50 g of water is poured into a plastic container and plasticine is placed.
    6. Everything is thoroughly mixed until smooth.
    7. When the gelatin has cooled a little, it must be poured into a container with plasticine.
    8. Mix everything well.
    9. As soon as everything cools down, you can play with the toy.

    From soap and salt

    The recipe is very similar to making a slime from shampoo with salt.

    But there is a difference in composition:

    • Liquid soap;
    • Salt;
    • Soda.
    1. Salt and soda are gradually added to the soap.
    2. Mixing in progress.
    3. This is repeated several times until a homogeneous viscous mass is formed.
    4. The end is to keep the mass in the cold.

    From shaving foam

    To make slime from shaving foam you will need:

    • Tube with PVA glue;
    • Shaving foam.
    1. The plate is filled with glue.
    2. Foam is injected into it a little at a time.
    3. Everything gets mixed up.
    4. The foam is added until the correct consistency appears.
    5. All the slime is ready, but if he is not satisfied White color, then you can add a couple of drops of coloring matter. If you add not one, but, for example, two colors, the slime will acquire a marble pattern.

    From flour

    Slime made from flour is the safest toy recipe. Even small children are allowed to play with it, especially if the dye is made from substances of natural origin. The use of natural dye will only affect the degree of coloring towards less intensity.

    Components:

    • Flour;
    • Hot water;
    • Dye;
    • Apron.

    Subsequence:

    1. Add ¼ of the glass capacity to 2 cups of flour sifted through a sieve with cold water.
    2. Next, add ¼ of the glass capacity hot water(not boiling water).
    3. Thorough mixing is required until completely homogeneous.
    4. Coloring can be added if desired; it is better to add more food coloring.
    5. Mix thoroughly until a sticky consistency forms.
    6. The slime, along with the container in which it was prepared, is placed in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
    7. Once the mixture has cooled completely, you can play with it.

    From nail polish

    1 way

    Perhaps such a recipe will not meet the child’s expectations, but you can experiment. This requires:

    • Sunflower oil – about 100 ml;
    • A jar of nail polish.

    Pour the varnish into a bowl with oil, stir until all the dye from the varnish comes together in one ball. This will mean that the slime is ready.

    This slime turns out small, smells bad, and is a little greasy.

    Method 2

    • Varnish 1 jar;
    • Water;
    • Tube of PVA glue;
    • Sodium tetraborate.

    Progress:

    1. Combine glue and varnish in a container.
    2. They mix.

    4. Tetraborate is introduced.
    5. Stirring does not stop until full formation homogeneous mass.

    From PVA glue and pencil glue

    Glue stick and PVA glue are very similar in structure. The only difference is consistency and shape. If there is no PVA, but there is pencil glue, then this is no worse. Required:

    • Glue stick;
    • Food or other coloring – 1-2 drops;
    • Bora.

    Progress:

    1. The glue stick is taken out of the tube.
    2. Place in a bowl in the microwave until melted.
    3. You can add a coloring agent.
    4. Water and sodium tetraborate are mixed in a glass.
    5. The aqueous solution is gradually introduced while stirring.
    6. If the slime does not work out because the mass is very liquid, then you need to add tetraborate.

    Edible version of slime

    To create an edible slime you will need:

    • Packaging of chewing candies (Fruttella or Mamba);
    • Powdered sugar;
    • Containers for a water bath.

    Cooking process:

    1. The candies are placed in a container and placed in a water bath.
    2. Until completely melted, stirring all the time.
    3. The slightly cooled mixture is transferred to a bowl with powdered sugar.
    4. The mixture is rolled in it and kneaded well.
    5. You need to knead until the mass becomes easy to stick to your hands.
    6. Even a small child can play with it.

    From baking soda

    Slime made according to this recipe is not safe for small children due to the fact that it contains dishwashing detergent. You can only play with such a toy under the supervision of an adult. Be sure to wash your hands after playing with it.

    • Dishwashing liquid;
    • Soda;
    • Water;
    • Dye.

    Step by step action:

    1. Liquid dish soap is poured into a suitable container.
    2. Gradually add soda and stir.
    3. If the consistency is very thick, add water and mix.
    4. You can add dye.

    Making Magnetic Slime

    In order to be original, you can make a slime that will react to the influence of a magnet, that is, a magnetic slime.

    Required:

    • Bora;
    • Water;
    • Glue;
    • Iron oxide or metal filings;
    • Magnet.

    The process itself goes like this:

    1. Pour 0.5 teaspoon of boron into a glass of water.
    2. Stir until completely dissolved. This will act as an activator.
    3. 0.5 cups of water with 30 g of glue are poured into another bowl.
    4. Stir until smooth.
    5. You can add dye or paint. To make the slime glow in the dark, you can add phosphor paint.
    6. The activator solution from the first glass is added to the resulting mixture in a small stream.
    7. You need to pour in gradually, stirring all the time.
    8. If the mixture begins to acquire the desired consistency, you should stop adding the activator to harden.
    9. Lizun is ready.
    10. The slime needs to be removed from the bowl, leveled on the table.
    11. Iron oxide should be poured into its middle.
    12. Mix everything thoroughly until the color is uniform.
    13. Magnetic slime is made. You can check its interaction with the magnet by bringing it up, moving the magnet away from the mass of the slime. The mass should be pulled behind the magnet.

    Creating a Sparkling Look

    How to make from boric acid

    Since the cost boric acid It’s not big and the recipe is quite inexpensive.

    • Boric acid;
    • Dye;
    • PVA glue.

    Process of creation:

    1. The amount of glue poured will determine the size of the future slime.
    2. The coloring matter is added and stirred.
    3. Boric acid is added dropwise, stirring.
    4. For better distribution of all components, the slime is kneaded with your hands.

    What to do if the slime doesn't work

    There are times when making slime yourself does not give the desired result. It is important to understand that final result the following factors influence:

    • Quality of materials used;
    • Maintaining proportions;
    • Step-by-step actions.

    If the slime is obtained, then its mass will be homogeneous, uniform and easily removed from the container.

    If the slime turns out not to be homogeneous, then it is possible to save it by continuing to actively knead until it reaches the desired viscousness and homogeneity.

    If the slime is very sticky and stretches behind the spoon like threads of a spider's web, then you can try adding a little liquid starch or water, depending on the recipe. This will thin out the consistency.

    But if there is ductility, but the slime simply slides off your hands without sticking to them, then it means there is an excess amount of liquid in it. In order to get rid of it, it is necessary to drain off these excesses, but you can add the binder required by the recipe (glue, boron solution, flour). Mix everything well again.

    How to preserve slime longer or proper care for slime.

    So what does it include? proper care for the slime.

    To do this you need to get:

    • food;
    • house;
    • bath;
    • give him a place to play with him;
    • place in the refrigerator.

    The food includes two main ingredients: salt, water, and an additional component: pieces of eraser (optional).

    The daily diet is from 1 to 5 pinches of salt. It is necessary to lightly cover the bottom of the jar with water during storage. After which everything needs to be closed well and shaken. You can add eraser pieces.

    The slime house is a tightly closed jar.

    Slime can become pregnant, it will look like small bubbles appearing all over the slime. If this happens, then you should put the slime in a jar and leave it for 4 days. After this time, check if a small colored spot, this means that the baby is “born”. It needs to be separated by placing it in another jar.

    Bathing is mandatory for this; in a bowl with a small amount of water, you should wash the slime, after which it should be put away in the house.

    Frequent play is not advisable, since due to its structure it absorbs all the dirt and dust surrounding it. And this reduces its size.

    Lizun is unique toy, which at one moment can spread over the surface like a liquid, and at another, jump like a ball and take on the most incredible shapes, without changing its structure. Today you can find many options for creating this unusual toy at home.

    What and how is the slime made from?

    Slime was first released by Mattel, which became famous thanks to the world famous Barbie dolls, in 1976. The toy had an unusual jelly-like consistency. The substance from which the slime is made belongs to non-Newtonian liquids, which are characterized by the manifestation of different properties depending on the influence applied to them. Therefore, in a calm state, the slime begins to spread like liquid.

    Mattel's original slime was made from guar gum, which is extracted from... Indian plant guar Today, this substance is also often used in the production of slimes. This substance also used in Food Industry and is an integral component of some thickeners and stabilizers. However, these days, along with guar gum, other alkaloids can be used in the factory production of slimes.

    How to make slime at home?

    Sodium tetraborate

    The main ingredient when creating slime is usually sodium tetraborate. This ingredient is perhaps the most exotic of all the components that are used in the manufacture of an elastic substance. Sodium tetraborate can be found at a pharmacy or chemical supply store. You will also need PVA glue, and to give the toy a cheerful shade, food coloring or ordinary gouache.

    Having filled the glass with glue, you need to add food coloring to it and slowly pour in a solution of sodium tetraborate at the rate of one bottle of product per 100 g of glue. In order to get rid of excess moisture, the resulting mass should be blotted with a napkin. To ensure complete readiness, it is recommended to knead the jelly-like substance in the bag for five minutes.

    Plasticine

    Some people make slime from plasticine. This is the most economical method of production funny toy, which involves the use of budget ingredients such as gelatin, plasticine and water. Gelatin must first be dissolved in cold water, wait about an hour, then bring it to a boil. Then, stirring constantly, melt small pieces of plasticine in a container with a small amount of water, brought to a boil over low heat. Melted gelatin and plasticine are mixed, resulting in a viscous substance resembling store-bought slime, but, unfortunately, not possessing all its properties. Such economical option The toy will last about two days.

    Slime is an amazing toy for both children and adults. Few people know that you can make slime yourself, and even at home. Its preparation will take little time, and you won’t even need a huge amount of materials! Let's look at several ways to make slime.

    Boron is sodium tetra borate. It can be bought at any pharmacy and is inexpensive. To make slime you will need: boron (half a teaspoon), water, colorless glue (small bottle), harmless dye, two containers for preparation.

    Before making any slime, pay attention to the expiration date of the ingredients! If the slime sticks to your hands too much, add water and starch to it. If the slime stretches a lot and does not stick, add glue. Don't forget to wash your hands after playing with slime!

    The first slime toy (the original name was slime) was released in 1976 by the company that produced Barbie dolls. Both then and now, slimes are made from guar gum and borax (sodium tetraborate). Guar gum is an additive used in the food industry as a thickener and viscosity enhancer.

    Slime is sometimes compared to hand chewing gum, but these are different toys, although they have some of the same properties. Slime can not only be bought in a store, but also made at home; methods for making it are described below.

    The appearance of the slime is similar to jelly, which has the properties non-Newtonian fluid, i.e. the higher the impact, the greater the viscosity, and vice versa, the less impact on the slime, the softer it is.

    If the slime is left on the surface, it will begin to “spread”, but will not turn into liquid and can be easily collected again.

    Making slime at home

    Slime is extremely popular among children, so buying it will not be a problem, but it is much more interesting to make it yourself at home.
    There are several options self-made slimes at home, the main difference between the recipes is the ingredients used. Below you can find each of the recipes.

    Slime made from glue and sodium tetraborate

    PVA glue and sodium tetraborate - ingredients for homemade slime

    Slime made from glue and sodium tetraborate is one of the most common methods, because... The resulting toy is practically no different from the store-bought one. To prepare it you will need:

    • PVA glue, it is advisable to use the freshest possible white glue.
    • Sodium tetraborate (borax), sold in a pharmacy or chemical store in liquid or powder form.
    • Dye, you can use gouache or brilliant green, but it is better to use food coloring, for example, beet juice for red color.
    • Container for preparation, any plastic jar with a volume of 200 ml and above will do.

    Step-by-step instruction:

    1. Pour 100 grams of glue into the container, shaking it well beforehand.
    2. Add dye, but without fanaticism, otherwise the slime will stain your hands, and mix until the color is uniform.
    3. Add sodium tetraborate; 1 bottle is enough for 100 grams of glue (most often 30 gram bottles are on sale). When using tetraborate powder, it should be diluted in a ratio of 1 tablespoon to 1 glass of water and added to the glue to the desired consistency. The result should be a thick jelly-like mass.
    4. Pour the resulting mass into a plastic bag and knead for 5-7 minutes.

    The less borax, the thinner the slime will be and will stick to everything.

    After the above procedures, you should have a slime based on glue and sodium tetraborate.

    Slime made from PVA glue and soda

    Baking soda is one of the ingredients for making slime at home

    Slime made from PVA and soda - great way, Looks like original version, if you don’t have sodium tetraborate on hand. But the “life” of such a slime is only 4 days. To create it you will need:

    • baking soda,
    • PVA glue,
    • dye,
    • container for preparing toys.

    How to make slime from glue and soda:

    1. Mix 50 g PVA and 50 ml water
    2. Separately, mix 1 tablespoon of soda in 50 ml of water and add dye.
    3. Add the colored soda solution to glue mixture and mix

    The slime made from soda and PVA glue is also very similar to the original one, but its distinctive feature is its fragility!

    Slime without PVA glue and sodium tetraborate

    To make slime without PVA glue and sodium tetraborate, you need to mix water and starch in equal proportions and add dye to add color. To get a thicker consistency, you can add more starch.

    The toy according to this recipe turns out to be much worse than a store-bought one, but this option is the cheapest and therefore is suitable for those who do not have sodium tetraborate and glue, but who want to make their own slime.

    Shampoo slime

    Shampoo slime can be made in 2 ways: using Titan glue and without using glue, both options are below.

    From shampoo and glue

    To prepare the toy, in addition to the shampoo itself, we will need Titan polymer glue. The shampoo should be without various additives.
    How to do:

    • mix 50 ml of shampoo with dye
    • Gradually add glue to the shampoo and mix until a homogeneous mass is obtained.

    After some time, the slime may become too liquid; to fix this, add glue.

    Shampoo based without glue

    You need to mix 100 ml of shampoo, 50 ml of shower gel and 50 ml of detergent and place the resulting composition in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Dye most likely will not be needed, since the detergent is often already colored.
    You should not use shampoo and shower gel with various small particles (for example, gel with scrub), because This will disrupt the structure of the slime and it may not work.
    The only disadvantage of this slime is that when heated, it becomes liquid, so you only need to store it in the refrigerator.

    Toothpaste slime

    This is what toothpaste slime can look like

    To obtain this slime you need to mix in approximately equal proportions toothpaste and PVA glue until a homogeneous mass is obtained, then place it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

    The slime will smell strongly of toothpaste at first, but the smell will go away the next day.

    It is advisable to use gel pastes rather than white toothpaste, because... it is more liquid than colored gel ones.

    There are many other ways to make slimes at home: from shaving foam, from, etc., but most often they are based on glue or sodium tetraborate, so I will not consider them.

    How to store

    In order for your slime to last a long time and delight you for more than one day, you should follow the basic rules of storage and care:

    • store in a closed container, preferably in the refrigerator (not in the freezer!),
    • try not to drop it on dusty surfaces to avoid contamination,
    • if too dry, add a few drops of water to the storage container,
    • if too liquid, add a little salt to the storage container.

    Now, after reading this article, you know what slime is made from and how you can make it at home with your own hands. Slime is a great toy that will not only bring a lot of pleasure to your child, but will help develop his fine motor skills.
