Pregnancy is the time to fulfill the commandment “Be fruitful and multiply”; it is the basis for the continuation of the human race on Earth. This is difficult but joyful work, and any work must be preceded by prayer.

For pregnant women, they usually pray to the Most Holy Virgin - the Mother of God, because no one else will help in the birth of a baby; they traditionally turn to her with a prayer for a safe delivery of pregnancy.

During pregnancy you should not do any medical indications most actions considered sinful, but one must strive for spiritual perfection - often pregnant women, under the pretext of hormonal mood swings, offend undeservedly close people.

How to pray for a pregnant woman?

You need to pray while you have the opportunity; the entire pregnancy should be accompanied by prayer. The prayer book contains a special “Prayer of a Pregnant Woman”; it should be read after sleep, in the morning, and in the evening, after the hardships of a long day. If you didn’t find it there, you can download the prayer from the Internet and print it out.

Prayer of the "Pregnant Woman"

“Oh, Most Glorious Mother of God, have mercy on me, your servant, and come to my aid during my illnesses and dangers, with which all the poor daughters of Eve give birth to children. Remember, O Blessed One among women, with what joy and love you went hastily to the mountainous country to visit your relative Elizabeth during her pregnancy and what a wonderful effect your gracious visit had on both mother and baby. And according to Your inexhaustible mercy, grant me, your most humble servant, to be safely relieved of my burden; Grant me this grace, so that the child who now rests under my heart, having come to his senses, with a joyful leap, like the holy baby John, will worship the Divine Lord Savior, Who, out of love for us sinners, did not disdain to become a baby Himself. May the low-speaking joy that filled your virgin heart when looking at your newborn Son and Lord sweeten the sorrow that awaits me amid the pains of birth. May my life, my Savior, born of You, save me from death, which cuts off the lives of many mothers at the hour of resolution, and may the fruit of my womb be numbered among the elect of God. Hear, O Most Holy Queen of Heaven, my humble prayer and look upon me, a poor sinner, with the eye of Your grace; do not be ashamed of my trust in Your great mercy and overshadow me, Helper of Christians, healer of illnesses, may I also be honored to experience for myself that You are the Mother of mercy, and may I always glorify Your grace, which has never rejected the prayers of the poor and delivers all those who call on You in a time of sorrow and illness. Amen."

In cases of difficult pregnancy - pray to God to preserve the pregnancy - this will help alleviate suffering and maintain the pregnancy in order to give birth to a healthy baby.

Prayer “To Preserve Pregnancy”

“Almighty God, Creator of everything visible and invisible! To You, beloved Father, we, gifted with the understanding of creatures, resort, because You, on special advice, created our race, with ineffable wisdom creating our body from the earth and breathing into it the soul from Your Spirit, so that we could be Yours. likeness. And although it was Your will to create us at once, like the angels, if only You wanted, yet Your wisdom was pleased that through husband and wife, in the order of marriage established by You, the human race would multiply; You wanted to bless people so that they would grow and multiply and fill not only the earth, but also the hosts of angels. O God and Father! May it be forever glorified and glorified your name for everything you have done for us! I also thank You for Your mercy, that not only I, according to Your will, came from Your wonderful creation and am joining the number of the chosen ones, but that You deigned to bless me in marriage and sent me the fruit of the womb. This is Your gift, Your Divine mercy, O Lord and Father of spirit and body! Therefore, I turn to You alone and pray to You with a humble heart for mercy and help, so that what You are doing in me by Your power may be preserved and brought to a successful birth. For I know, O God, that it is not in the power and not in the power of man to choose his own path; we are too weak and prone to fall to escape all those snares that He places for us by Your permission. evil spirit, and avoid those misfortunes into which our frivolity plunges us. Your wisdom is limitless. Whoever you wish. Through Your angel You will save us unharmed from all adversity. Therefore, I, merciful Father, commend myself in my sorrow into Your hands and pray that You look at me with the eye of mercy and save me from all suffering. Send me and my dear husband joy, O God, Master of all joy! May we, upon seeing Your blessing, worship You with all our hearts and serve You with a joyful spirit. I do not want to be taken away from what You imposed on our entire race, commanding us to give birth to children in illness. But I humbly ask You to help me endure the suffering and send me a successful outcome. And if You hear this prayer of ours and send us a healthy and good child, then we swear to bring him again to You and dedicate him to You, so that You may remain for us and our seed a merciful God and Father, as we swear to always be Your faithful servants along with ours. child. Hear, O merciful God, the prayer of Your servant, fulfill the prayer of our hearts, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Savior, Who became incarnate for our sake, now abides with You and the Holy Spirit and reigns in eternity. Amen."

A father should pray no less, and perhaps even more than a mother, for a successful pregnancy and childbirth. Every day it is worth remembering the greatest miracle in which he became a participant by the grace of God, and every day asking God for help. Eat special prayer during childbirth, but it is not necessary to look for prayers on the Internet or books, you can ask in your own words, the main thing is that the prayer is sincere and comes from the heart.

The Mother of God is the helper and patroness of all pregnant women, and after the child is born, the mother can prayerfully accompany his growth and development in front of various icons of the Mother of God

.

The “Mammal” icon helps in the development breast milk, the “Education” icon will give wisdom and patience for raising children, and “Increasing intelligence” helps older children cope with their studies. You can ask the Mother of God for your deepest desires, so that the birth and upbringing of your daughter will be happiness, so that the Queen herself will be your assistant in difficult work.

But this will happen later, now the main thing is to safely get rid of the burden - for a safe and speedy birth Mother of God traditionally they pray in front of her image “Helper in Childbirth”.

Prayer for the icon “Helper in Childbirth”

“Mother of our God, having conceived Christ the Life-Giver in the womb, You did not require help in His birth, so bless and help Thy servant to be easily resolved, and their babies at the right time to be born, under Thy protection, like a Mother, we pray, accept: You Thou art the Helper and Intercessor of Thy servant in childbirth.”

It should be remembered that the icon of the Mother of God is not a witchcraft amulet, and it must be treated with respect, but without giving it unusual functions and capabilities. She is a real helper, quick and sensitive to a sincere request, but one must respect her as the Mother of the Savior Himself, without in any way offending or hurting Her Dignity.

While a woman is giving birth, it will be useful for her loved ones to turn to God for help, reading a prayer for easy relief from the burden.

For some time after giving birth, a woman should not enter the temple - this is due to the canons of the church, she is given time to “purify”, because childbirth in the canons of the Church is associated with some kind of physiological defilement. Traditionally, a special cleansing prayer precedes the woman's return to the temple.

The rules by which the cleansing prayer is read are not generally accepted and depend on the specific temple and its minister. Usually the cleansing and blessing of a woman is carried out after the baby has been baptized - the mother is not present at the baptism, and immediately after the sacrament is performed, the priest blesses the mother to enter the temple. The only thing you should remember is that you should not enter the temple on your own after giving birth - the cleansing prayer is read by a priest, and you should not break this rule.

After prayer

How should a person who asked for help feel after prayer? Prayer is not guaranteed to have the same effect that you put into it. The reason is that prayer is not only a time of request, but also a time of humility. He does not leave His mercy only to those who humbly resort to God’s help.

And if you are humble, then it is stupid to demand anything from God. This is precisely the key difference between prayer and magic. The magician is obsessed with pride, he calls himself free from everything, but the one who prays must sincerely ask, but rely on the will of the Lord.

Video: Prayer during childbirth

Childbirth is an exciting event in the life of not only the woman herself, but the entire family. There is not a single pregnant woman in the world who does not have anxious thoughts and worries about the upcoming event. Even if the pregnancy is going well, a doctor has been found, a maternity hospital has been chosen, everything is ready for the baby and mother, anxiety will not stop leaving you. And this is quite natural, because the birth of a baby is the most important thing in a mother’s life, and the process of childbirth itself is very complex and unpredictable. And only the Lord knows how everything will turn out. Therefore, it would be a good idea for pregnant pregnant women to read a prayer for a safe birth.

Prayer for an easy birth

Even in ancient times, our great-grandmothers could not do without prayer during childbirth. It was customary to hope in God and pray to him and the Most Holy Theotokos for the safe birth of the baby. Prayer for a successful birth strengthened the belief that everything would go well. Helped me calm down and prepare mentally for the upcoming event.

Not only the mothers themselves prayed; the prayer of the mother during the birth of her daughter was of great importance. Nowadays, prayer is not so popular, but still people do not forget to turn to the Saints for help in difficult times. Therefore, prayer during childbirth is still relevant today. Of course, not every woman will be able to read a prayer during childbirth. But in this case, you can prepare in advance and read a prayer for an easy birth, or ask your mother for prayer during the birth of her daughter.

What prayer to read during childbirth?

A believer knows who to pray to at the birth of a child. First of all, of course, to the Most Holy Theotokos. The Virgin Mary gave birth to her son painlessly, but having experienced all human difficulties and suffering, she understands us and helps us. With prayer during pregnancy and childbirth, they bow to the icons of the Mother of God “Helper in Childbirth”, “Leaping of the Baby”, “Feodorovskaya”, “Healer”, “Quick to Hear”. A pregnant woman should read a prayer for help during childbirth.

Prayer for an easy birth to the Blessed Virgin Mary:

Most Holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, who weighed the birth and nature of mother and child, have mercy on Thy servant (name), and help in this hour, that her burden may be resolved safely. O All-Merciful Lady Theotokos, even though You did not require help in the birth of the Son of God, grant help to this Thy servant, who requires help, especially from You. Grant her blessings at this hour, and give birth to a child like her and bring her into the light of this world; grant her, at the right time, the gift of light in holy baptism with water and spirit. We fall down before you, Mother of the Most High God, praying: Be merciful to this mother, the time has come for her to be a mother, and beg Christ our God, who has become incarnate from you, to strengthen you with His power from above. For His power is blessed and glorified, with His Beginningless Father, and His Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Relatives and friends can pray for the health of the baby to the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God:

O Most Holy Lady Virgin Mary,
Save and keep my children (names) under Your roof,
All youths, young women and babies,
Baptized and nameless and carried in the womb.
Cover them with the robe of Your motherhood,
Keep them in the fear of God and in obedience to your parents,
Pray to my Lord and Your Son,
May He grant them what is useful for their salvation.
I entrust them to your maternal care,
For you are the Divine Protection of your servants.
Mother of God, lead me into the image of Your heavenly motherhood.
Heal the mental and physical wounds of my children (names),
Inflicted by my sins.
I entrust my child entirely to my Lord Jesus Christ and Yours,
Most pure, heavenly protection.
Amen!

Prayer to help a woman in labor

In Orthodox Christianity, it is customary to confess and receive communion before giving birth. There are often cases when a woman who read a prayer subsided her pain, stopped bleeding, and her children were always born healthy. The miraculous power of prayer is familiar to many believers; it is not for nothing that our ancestors completely relied on it. Prayer is the help of the Lord, so why refuse it in such a difficult and dangerous matter, especially since it mostly concerns your baby. It doesn't even matter who you go to to turn in your prayer, and in front of which icon, the main thing is to do it sincerely, with faith in your soul. After giving birth, you need to read a prayer and thank the Lord and all the Saints for the help provided and the happy birth of the baby.

It is also important to bow with prayer after childbirth in front of the “Mammal” icon of the Mother of God. She helps mothers who lose milk or if a woman suffers greatly. Holy Mother of God will give you the strength to cope with the illness and feed the baby. It’s not for nothing that our great-grandmothers fed their children with breast milk until they were two or three years old and had no idea what postpartum depression and other complications were. It was believed that it was so provided by the Lord God that a mother should feed her baby with breast milk, passing on her love and care with him.

With the same warmth falling upon Thy whole-bearing image, and kissing this tenderly, we pray to Thee, all-merciful Lady: to give birth to us sinners condemned in illness and to nourish our children in sorrow, mercifully spare and compassionately intercede, but our babies, who also gave birth to them, from a serious illness and deliver from bitter sorrow. Grant them health and well-being, and their nourishment will increase in strength, and those who feed them will be filled with joy and consolation, for even now, through Your intercession from the mouth of the child and those who exist, the Lord will bring His praise.
O mother of the Son of God! Have mercy on the mother of the sons of men and on Your weak people: quickly heal the illnesses that befall us, quench the sorrows and sorrows that are upon us, and do not despise the tears and sighs of Your servants. Hear us on the day of sorrow who fall before Your icon, and on the day of joy and deliverance accept the grateful praise of our hearts. Offer our prayers to the throne of Your Son and our God, may He be merciful to our sin and weakness and add His mercy to those who lead His name, as we and our children will glorify You, the merciful Intercessor and the faithful Hope of our race, forever and ever. .

Every birth is a miracle: about the effective assistance to women of the image of the Mother of God “Helper in Childbirth”

Since ancient times, in moments of suffering during the birth of children, women have resorted with especially fervent prayer to the Savior and His Most Pure Mother. In pious families, even in our time, you can see the icon of the Mother of God, called the “Helper in Childbirth.” On this icon, the Blessed Virgin is depicted standing tall and raising her hands to the mountain, with the Child at her breasts, as in the icon of the Sign.

Mothers bow before this icon in fervent prayers, calling for help to the blessed Virgin Mary, who painlessly gave birth to Christ the Savior. Mothers call to Her in a terrible moment full of mystery, believing that She is a strong Intercessor and Helper of all those who suffer and are burdened before God. Her all-powerful intercession gives a successful outcome to the resolution of all illnesses and suffering. Prayerfully appeal to the Mother of God, the Son with a request for successful outcome childbirth, the birth of a healthy baby, the granting of strength to endure the pain of childbirth.

Women in labor themselves, their husbands, and pious relatives pray to the Mother of God and Her miraculous image “Helper in Childbirth.”

Lyudmila Nikolaevna works at the Ratnovsky central district hospital in the Volyn region. She came to our Center “Family in Joy” for a seminar on Orthodox psychology, where she shared with us her experience of faith.

“When I teach classes on preparation for childbirth, I always tell women and their relatives that the most effective help in childbirth is prayer. We are a believing, Orthodox people. I show the icon “Helper in Childbirth”. And many women in childbirth turn to the Mother of God, the intercessor for all Christians, for help. When contractions are not yet active, they sing the prayer “Virgin Mother of God, Rejoice...”. If relatives are involved in the birth, they also prayerfully ask for the woman in labor and the child, and with faith read the Akathist to the Mother of God to her image, “Helper in Childbirth.” Through the prayer of the mother and father they are born healthy child, less painful for the mother.

It happens that a problem arises during childbirth, for example, the process of dilation of the cervix is delayed, then all together - I, the doctor and the woman - pray to the Mother of God. The icon “Helper in Childbirth” is always with me in the delivery room; often women themselves bring this image with them to the maternity hospital. And the Most Holy Theotokos comes to the rescue, the birth takes place naturally, without complications, the mother rejoices, the father rejoices, and I rejoice along with them.

Every birth is a miracle: how wisely and amazingly the Lord created man! As a doctor, obstetrician-gynecologist with many years of experience, I can say that many times through prayers to the Mother of God to our Lord Jesus Christ, women and their newborn children received help. And I thank you for being able to witness it. Most Holy Theotokos, save us!”

St. Nicholas Cathedral in Serpukhov

WITH Among the architectural monuments of late classicism in the city of Serpukhov, the Church of St. Nicholas Bely indisputably occupies the first place both in artistic merit and in its urban planning significance (it serves as the main high-rise dominant for the entire area of old, historically developed buildings).

N Ikolsky Church on Kaluzhskaya Street has a long and complex construction history. It was originally made of wood. He appears as such in documents of the 16th - early 17th centuries. (in particular, in the inventories of the city of Serpukhov in 1552 and 1620). “Only the church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in 1649 was already made of stone, which is why they began to call it St. Nicholas the White... It was the first stone church in the city and in the suburb, a second similar church was built in the village in honor of the Myrrh-bearing wives, then the third stone church became the Trinity Cathedral in 1696,” we read in the History of Serpukhov by P. Simson.

IN It was suggested that architects from Yaroslavl took part in the construction of the first stone church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the predecessor of the current one. It is based on the proximity of the compositional structure of the building, which can be understood from the surviving ancient drawing, with characteristic features Yaroslavl religious buildings of the 17th century.

IN In 1713, a decree was issued on the construction of a stone church in honor of St. Nicholas. The initiator of the construction was the clerk of the Zemskaya hut of the city of Serpukhov, Mikhail Popov. Already in March 1721, Mikhail Popov writes: “...and now, according to my promise, I built a stone church instead of that dilapidated church and made the top of that church according to the order.” The temple was consecrated that same year.

X The frame was then a quadrangle crowned with one chapter with an altar extension, which had symmetrically located hipped roofs above the altar and deacon. The building was made of hewn blocks of local limestone. This is where the generally accepted local name Church - Nikola Bely. In this form the monument existed until the 30s. XIX centuries

IN In 1831, a project for rebuilding the church building was drawn up. Design drawings with facades and sections signed by Architect Tamansky and Architect Shestakov have been preserved. Since the initials of both architects are absent in the signatures on the drawing sheets, the question arises of identifying these individuals with certain “stone craftsmen” who are known to historians of Russian architecture.

IN collected by M.V. Dyakonov’s materials for the dictionary of architects of the 18th-19th centuries who worked in Moscow and the Moscow region contain data on three Tamanskys and six Shestakovs. However, upon closer acquaintance with the biographies of all of them, it is possible to find out that only two of them could put their signatures under the design drawings preserved in the archive in 1831: Fyodor Mikhailovich Shestakov (born in 1787 and died in 1836; academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts, who designed many religious buildings for Moscow, Kolomna, Dmitrov, etc.) and Ivan Trofimovich Tamansky (born in 1775, died in 1850; student of M.F. Kazakov; worked mainly in Moscow, but often sent on business to various places in the Moscow province).

IN 1835 began the construction of the now existing Church of St. Nicholas with the chapels of St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow and St. Kirill Beloezersky.

IN erected in 1835-1857. The Church of St. Nicholas Bely is an excellent example of the Moscow Empire style. It is built of brick and plastered, and has white stone details in its external decor. A powerful quadrangle with one apse and two side porches carries a large domed rotunda. The four-pillar refectory and multi-tiered bell tower adjacent to the main volume from the west underwent some changes during their construction compared to the project.

P After the revolution of 1917, liturgical life in the Church of St. Nicholas the Bely was not immediately interrupted. The fact that Saint Tikhon visited the temple on June 2, 1924 is noteworthy. It was he, the All-Russian Patriarch, who gave the temple the status Cathedral, after which the importance of Nikola Bely in the city increased. In 1928, during the church schism, the department of the Bishop of Serpukhov Manuel (Lemeshevsky) who fought against him was located in St. Nicholas Cathedral. It is also known that after the closure of Vladychny convent The image of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Chalice”, revered in the city, was located precisely in the Church of St. Nicholas the Bely. However, it too suffered the same fate as many churches in Serpukhov; in 1929 it was closed. According to the stories of old-timers, the icons of the cathedral were demolished on the river. Nara and burned on its ice.

N hostility towards the church, blasphemously cultivated in people by the new government, made itself felt here too: the bell tower, which had risen majestically over the city since the middle of the 19th century, was partially destroyed, the image of St. Nicholas on external wall The temple was constantly subjected to abuse. But as the inhabitants of the houses adjacent to the temple, who observed this desecration, say, every time the next morning the image of the holy miracle worker was renewed, demonstrating God’s power and as if predicting new life desecrated cathedral.

IN In some ways, the cathedral turned out to be happier than other churches. For some time it housed a city pasta factory, which may have saved it from final destruction. During the war, laundries were set up here. IN Lately Before the opening, the temple premises were used by the civil defense headquarters for chemical purposes. warehouse, which was placed in the cathedral at the insistence of the chairman of the city Executive Committee S. N. Kudryakov with main goal- to avoid the demolition of the temple, and there were such proposals!

IN On the eve of the 1000th anniversary of the baptism of Rus', the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Bely, as the brightest architectural monument, was talked about again. Among the plans for using the temple, the possibility of turning it into a concert hall was considered. But by the grace of God in 1995 it was returned to the believers as a courtyard of the Vysotsky Monastery, and since 1998 - a parish church. In 1995, during his stay His Holiness Patriarch Moscow and All Rus' Alexy II in Serpukhov, the City Administration presented the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church keys to the temple. In 1999, bells were purchased with funds from benefactors, the city administration and citizens. The bell, weighing 1380 kg, has four icon-stamps: the Savior, the Mother of God, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the image of the heavenly patron of the Administrator of the Moscow Diocese, His Eminence Juvenalius, Metropolitan of Krutitsky and Kolomna - St. Juvenalius, Patriarch of Jerusalem. A 300-pound gospel message sounds in the restored bell tower.

WITH In 2002, the Stromalians company, part of the SU-155 Group of Companies, began to restore the Cathedral. In 2003, a native of the city of Serpukhov, benefactor Mikhail Balakin, donated a bell weighing 5 tons to the temple, cast especially for the Serpukhov Cathedral by Yaroslavl craftsmen.

Z and in recent years, in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Bely, in addition to the main altar, four more side altars have been restored and equipped: in the name of St. Alexy of Moscow, St. Kirill of Beloezersk, the new martyrs and confessors of Serpukhov and the icon of the Mother of God “Help to Childbirth.” Much has been done to improve the temple grounds. At night, St. Nicholas the Bely Cathedral seems to be bathed in light flowing along the walls and windows, and like a lit candle it shines throughout the city.

ABOUT The interior painting of the cathedral is worthy of special attention. The vault of the dome depicts the entire earthly history, starting from the eternal council of the Holy Trinity on the creation of the world, the Old Testament patriarchs and prophets, teachers of the Church, to Russian saints and martyrs. Sunlight illuminates the temple, passing between the images of the holy apostles, reminiscent of the true Sun - Jesus Christ. Among the icons of the Savior and His Most Pure Mother, there are a host of Russian saints: saints and noble princes, warriors and monks and, of course, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in a hagiographic depiction of his miracles. Temple painting is the bible in colors. The eternal book leading to salvation is revealed to believers in the Serpukhov Cathedral.

IN The majestic royal doors of the main altar are crowned with an arched canopy on which icons are located Holy Week: Palm Sunday, the betrayal of Judas, the unrighteous trial of a worldly ruler, crucifixion, burial and, finally, the Holy Resurrection.

IN In memory of the six new martyrs - residents of Serpukhov, one of the chapels was consecrated in the cathedral. But not only painting and architecture were revived in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas Bely: full-fledged parish life was also restored here. Today the cathedral has a public library and two Sunday schools: for children and for adults. The clergy of the cathedral takes care of the Serpukhov Military Institute, a pre-trial detention center and an orphanage and boarding school, pedagogical and humanitarian colleges...

IN In the cathedral there is a miraculous image of the Mother of God “Helping Childbirth”, before which prayers are performed with an akathist compiled by the rector of the cathedral, Archpriest Vladimir Andreev, as well as locally revered images of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Great Martyr Panteleimon, the Martyr Bonifatius, the new martyrs and confessors of Serpukhov.

This article contains: prayer during childbirth in brief - information taken from all over the world, the electronic network and spiritual people.

Pregnancy is the time to fulfill the commandment “Be fruitful and multiply”; it is the basis for the continuation of the human race on Earth. This is difficult but joyful work, and any work must be preceded by prayer.

At all times, every Orthodox person constantly resorted to prayer; he preceded any of his undertakings, any business with prayer. A person prays especially fervently and passionately when a task seems beyond his strength or threatens him with danger. The expectant mother, as well as her loved ones, need to resort to God’s help through a special means to alleviate hardships - prayer for help in childbirth.

For pregnant women, they usually pray to the Most Holy Virgin - the Mother of God, because no one else will help in the birth of a baby; they traditionally turn to her with a prayer for a safe delivery of pregnancy.

During pregnancy, for medical reasons, you cannot commit most of the actions that are considered sinful, but you need to strive for spiritual perfection - often pregnant women, under the pretext of hormonal mood swings, offend undeservedly close people.

This should not be done - pray for the gift of wisdom and always stop at the right time and ask for forgiveness from people dear to your heart who were hurt by your outburst of emotions.

After all, family well-being and peace of mind during pregnancy are more important than ever.

In cases of difficult pregnancy - pray to God to preserve the pregnancy - this will help alleviate suffering and maintain the pregnancy in order to give birth to a healthy baby.

A father should pray no less, and perhaps even more than a mother, for a successful pregnancy and childbirth. Every day it is worth remembering the greatest miracle in which he became a participant by the grace of God, and every day asking God for help. There is a special prayer for childbirth, but it is not necessary to look for prayers on the Internet or books, you can ask in your own words, the main thing is that the prayer is sincere and comes from the heart.

The Mother of God is the helper and patroness of all pregnant women, and after the child is born, the mother can prayerfully accompany his growth and development in front of various icons of the Mother of God

The “Mammal” icon helps in the production of breast milk, the “Education” icon will give wisdom and patience in raising children, and the “Increase in Mind” helps older children cope with their studies. You can ask the Mother of God for your deepest desires, so that the birth and upbringing of your daughter will be happiness, so that the Queen herself will be your assistant in difficult work.

But this will happen later, now the main thing is to be safely relieved of the burden - for a safe and speedy birth of the Mother of God they traditionally pray in front of her image “Helper in Childbirth”.

Prayers for childbirth: comments

Comments - 2,

I had a very difficult first pregnancy. Doctors practically do not let me out of the hospital, fearing for the safety of the child and for me as well.

In the early stages they offered to have an abortion. But this pregnancy was the only ray of light in my life.

I have never been an ardent believer, but now I pray, I pray every day

and I ask your family to pray for, first of all, for the child

And my soul feels lighter and lighter

I believe that prayers read by a mother will help her daughter during childbirth.

Prayer before childbirth

Most women experience a terrible fear of childbirth, especially if it is their first child. Those who have had a difficult experience of painful contractions also worry about repeated pain. I want to prepare myself so that I can feel more confident. Some people intensively study information on the topic, while others ask for God’s help, never tired of praying to the Lord and realizing that they cannot cope any other way.

Believing young ladies pray both during preparation for conceiving a fetus, and when carrying a baby, and even directly during childbirth. The Holy Fathers say that it is necessary to turn to God constantly, every moment, every free minute. During contractions, prayer involuntarily calms and helps relieve pain.

Preparation for childbirth should include not only a physical, but also a spiritual aspect. That is, a pregnant woman should go to church before giving birth, attend a service, and confess.

Childbirth can be accompanied by unforeseen complications, and doctors are not omnipotent in all situations. Only God is omnipotent. According to our faith it will be for us. This is confirmed by numerous cases where prayer brought miracles. The unbearable pain subsided, and severe bleeding stopped.

Prayer before childbirth to the Lord Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ our God, born of the Eternal Father to the Son before the ages and in the last days, by the good will and assistance of the Holy Spirit, He deigned to be born of the Most Holy Virgin as a child, given birth and laid in a manger, the Lord Himself, who in the beginning created man and yoked woman to him, having given them a commandment: grow and multiply and fill the earth, have mercy, according to Thy great mercy, on Thy servant (name) who is preparing to give birth according to Thy commandment. Forgive her voluntary and involuntary sins, by Thy grace grant her the strength to be safely relieved of her burden, keep this and the baby in health and well-being, protect them with Thy angels and save them from the hostile action of evil spirits, and from all evil things. Amen.

Prayer before childbirth to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Most Holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, who weighed the birth and nature of mother and child, have mercy on Thy servant (name) and help at this hour so that her burden may be resolved safely. O all-merciful Lady Theotokos, even though You did not require help in the birth of the Son of God, grant help to this Thy servant, who requires help, especially from You. Grant her blessings at this hour, and grant her the birth of a child and bring her into the light of this world at the right time and the gift of intelligent light in holy baptism with water and spirit. We fall down to you, Mother of the Most High God, praying: be merciful to this mother, the time has come for her to be a mother, and beg Christ our God, who has become incarnate from you, to strengthen her with His power from above. Amen.

How can an icon and prayers to the Mother of God help a pregnant woman?

How will the birth go, will everything be fine? Every woman thinks about this with excitement. Don’t be afraid, the prayer “Helper in Childbirth” will take you away from all fears. The intercessor of all Christians and all women is the Mother of God. People turn to her in any everyday difficulties, she prays and asks for all sinners, she is patient with mistakes, and she is also an assistant in childbirth. The Mother of God is a mother herself and it is she who needs to be prayed to throughout pregnancy, and especially as birth approaches.

Whoever asks will be given. How good it is for the soul of a believer! He feels the hand of the Lord everywhere, his support and his sign. If a person prays, then he experiences less anxiety and stress, he knows and believes that his prayers will be heard, and the Lord will not abandon him. By praying to the Mother of God, the person asking receives her support and her help.

How to pray to the Mother of God?

Having already learned about pregnancy, a woman must read a prayer for the child she carries under her heart, so that her pregnancy takes place under the protection of the Mother of God.

Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos for children:

“O Most Holy Lady Virgin Theotokos, save and preserve under Your shelter my children (names), all youths, young women and infants, baptized and nameless and carried in their mother’s womb. Cover them with the robe of Your motherhood, keep them in the fear of God and in obedience to their parents, pray to my Lord and Your Son to grant them what is useful for their salvation. I entrust them to Your maternal supervision, for You are the Divine Protection of Your servants. Mother of God, introduce me to the image of Your heavenly motherhood. Heal the mental and physical wounds of my children (names) caused by my sins. I entrust my child entirely to my Lord Jesus Christ and Your, Most Pure, heavenly protection. Amen".

Prayers of Thanksgiving You can read it even during pregnancy. Don't all people have enough reasons to thank the Lord and the Mother of God? For pregnancy, for what we are already used to. Give thanks for the water, the sun, the sky, for admiring this world. We walk, we hear, we don’t go hungry. There are so many reasons to be grateful, we just sometimes forget about them.

Pregnancy itself is a great miracle and the Lord’s love for you. After all, the statistics on this issue today are not encouraging. How many couples have been dreaming for years, wanting to have a child, but cannot implement this main life plan. Over the years, a woman comes to understand that her most important mission, her purpose, is motherhood. Neither career, nor success, nor wealth can fill the heart as much as children's laughter and baby babble. Motherhood is a huge gift, they ask and pray to the Mother of God for it. With children comes a fullness of life, a lot of worries, but also a lot of joy. Children's love is unconditional; they love their parents because they are their parents. Who else could love you like that? They are defenseless, affectionate and expect the same love and affection in return. Here's what to think about during pregnancy. About the great joy that will enter your home. And earnestly pray to the Mother of God and our Lord, thank and ask for a calm birth and happy motherhood.

Spiritual preparation for childbirth

Visit the temple according to your strength (depending on how the pregnancy is progressing, if there is no toxicosis, dizziness, or weakness). You can sit in church, you don’t have to stand, because during pregnancy it’s physically difficult.

To prepare for childbirth in a Christian way is to confess and receive communion. If you have never done this, but have wanted to for a long time and still haven’t dared, this is a wonderful reason to dare to take this serious step. After all, we are all sinners, some to a greater extent, some to a lesser extent (even if it seems that there are no special sins). Open the book of preparation for confession, it lists the sins that a person may suffer from. You will be surprised how many of them can be attributed to you.

And after confession and communion there comes such lightness, inner purity and understanding that the child will be born without your sins. Keep this state longer, it would be better forever. But our earthly life forces us to sin (irritation, displeasure, melancholy, anger lie in wait for us at every step). Knowing that the Lord is inside you, it will be easier to resist and not allow into your soul everything bad and what is not from God.

Do good deeds (if possible and to the best of your ability). Think about who you can help and how. If you can’t financially, don’t worry. Help with a kind deed and support. Now so many people need to participate, you can show your attention, prepare an unexpected surprise, make a craft with your own hands, or just spend a couple of hours with a cup of tea. The main thing is a good intention and an open heart.

It is often said that with pregnancy a woman withdraws into herself. She no longer reacts so sharply to negative manifestations of the world around her, she is less upset by those things that she could not help but notice before. The Lord gives her such emotional protection. She is a vessel, she is a home for her child. Therefore, praying to the Mother of God, the Lord, she fills this house with prayer, love, kindness. The child feels everything inside her. The woman is calm and balanced. With prayer there will be no more impatience and irritation, which pregnant women experience during hormonal changes; prayer heals and calms. A child born in such an aura of faith will then himself become a believer and a worthy person. And this is the main dream of any mother.

Prayers during childbirth

You should definitely take the icon of the Mother of God with you to the maternity hospital. Pray all the time, as soon as the contractions subside, may the icon always be with you. She will protect you from bad things and will definitely help you get rid of the burden. Many women noticed the help of the Mother of God if the icon was with them. Either the baby suddenly turned around and took the desired position for childbirth, then the pain subsided. The main thing is to believe and pray fervently, from the soul, from the heart.

Prayer before the icon of the Mother of God “Helper in Childbirth”:

“Most Holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, who weighed the birth and nature of mother and child, have mercy on Thy servant (name), and help in this hour, that her burden may be resolved safely. O All-Merciful Lady Theotokos, even though You did not require help in the birth of the Son of God, grant help to this Thy servant, who requires help, especially from You. Grant her blessings at this hour, and give birth to a child like her and bring her into the light of this world; grant her, at the right time, intelligent light in Holy Baptism with water and spirit. We fall down before you, Mother of the Most High God, praying: Be merciful to this mother, the time has come for her to be a mother, and beg Christ our God, who has become incarnate from You, to strengthen us with His power from above. For His power is blessed and glorified, with His Beginningless Father, and His Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen".

A short prayer to Our Lady:

“Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, full of grace Mary, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, for you have given birth to the Savior of our souls.”

The Mother of God is kind and cordial, she will help you in this and any other good deed. Don't forget to ask and don't forget to thank. Be kind, attentive, pray in Russian, Old Church Slavonic and any other language. May the Lord protect you.
