The Grundfos ALPHA pump guarantees excellent energy savings, incorporating the best technological solutions from the Grundfos concern. The choice of this pump for heating systems will be excellent and optimal solution With temperature conditions pumped coolant up to 110 °C.

In air conditioning systems, the pump is capable of pumping liquid from +2 °C. Man is designed in such a way that cozy home He associates it with a warm and cozy interior environment. IN modern home circulation pumps for heating are a mandatory component.

The Grundfos ALPHA Circulation Pump successfully copes with the assigned tasks, participating in their solution in the heating system for a private home. The Grundfos ALPHA pump will ensure the movement of coolant from the heating boiler through the pipes to the radiator, in addition, the pump will do an excellent job of optimal heat regulation, reducing the inertia of the entire heating system.

To date, seven main energy efficiency classes have been established: A, B, C, D, E, F, G. The Grundfos ALPHA 2 circulation pump with an energy saving index of “A” consumes 80% less electricity than a standard model with an index of “D”. Thus ensuring annual savings in payments for public utilities for electricity up to 10%.

Main purpose for using pumps Grundfos series ALPHA 3, ALPHA 2, ALPHA 2 L is the circulation of water or a glycol-containing carrier in radiator systems heating, in underfloor heating systems, in air conditioning and cooling systems, as well as hot water supply systems. The GRUNDFOS ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 3 pump is equipped with a night performance mode.

For effective use night mode, one nuance must be taken into account. The pump must be installed at the outlet of the boiler, at the supply. Since it is the supply temperature that is controlled. The night mode only works in conjunction with “smart” boilers that support this function.

The GRUNDFOS ALPHA pump with automatically controlled speed, which successfully helps them cope with their tasks in:

  • Systems where there is a constant or variable flow rate, that is, where there is a need to optimize the operating point of the pump;
  • One-pipe and two-pipe systems;
  • Underfloor heating systems;
  • In hot water recirculation systems;
  • Systems where it is necessary to reduce performance to achieve energy savings at night.
  • Systems with an unstable temperature in the pressure pipeline;

The AUTO-adapt function in the ALPHA 2 pump is designed to regulate the pressure, taking into account the current need of the system. The consumer does not need to switch pump speeds. The Grundfos ALPHA pump will automatically determine the desired rotation speed. In addition, the Grundfos ALPHA pump has a fixed speed in three positions, as well as three constant and three proportional pressure modes.

In simple words, this can be explained like this: For example, on a winter day the sun is shining brightly outside the window and you feel a little hot, and you decide to turn off one of the radiators in your house. As a result, the flow rate in the heating system decreased, and thereby the pressure increased. Firstly, most likely, your system will begin to make noise in this case, causing a lot of discomfort to your household.

Secondly, the pump continues to work at full power, consuming electricity to the fullest. So here is the Grundfos ALPHA 2 pump with frequency regulation, will independently reduce the rotation of the engine, correspondingly reducing energy consumption, and secondly, it will adjust the speed in such a way as to equalize the increased pressure specifically for the system with the radiator turned off.

Design feature:

ALPHA 3, ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 2 L pumps with a “wet rotor”; the rotor in such designs is isolated from the stator by a sealed stainless steel cup. Structurally, the hydraulic part and the electric motor form common block without mechanical shaft seal. Only two sealing gaskets protect against leaks. Bearings are lubricated and cooled using liquid pumped by the pump.

Let's look at the differences between the presented models.

With built-in pressure regulation system, as we mentioned above, the system perfectly adjusts the pressure created by the pump to the actual requirements. The Grundfos ALPHA 2 pump with the index “L” differs from the ALPHA 2 in that it has reduced functionality (in particular, there is no Auto-Adapt, no heat-insulating casing, no night mode, and we had to save on the energy consumption indicator).

Such changes ultimately made it possible to make the model more accessible in the mid-price category.

The modern pump complements the functionality of the Grundfos Alpha 2 and Alpha2 L pump series. Grundfos Concern
presented to the consumer New Product– external module ALPHA-Reader. Using the module, it is possible to adjust the balance of single-pipe and two-pipe heating systems, as well as balance the “warm floor” system. • Low energy consumption compared to conventional circulation pumps

Operating modes of GRUNDFOS ALPHA2 L:

Constant differential pressure mode

This mode is used in those systems where the coolant flow varies over time, and the pressure drop value must remain constant. A striking example Such systems can be served by manifold wiring of heated floor circuits (see figure)

Proportional differential pressure control mode

This mode is used in those systems where, with a time-varying coolant flow rate, it is permissible to change the pressure drop in order to reduce energy costs. An excellent example is two-pipe system heating a private house using thermostatic valves (see figure).

Fixed speed mode

This mode is intended for those systems where it is necessary to operate the pump at fixed frequency rotation. For example, for installation on boiler loading. And also for those systems where the operating point does not fall within the characteristics of the AUTO Adapt function. An example is a single-pipe heating system for a private house without thermostatic valves (see figure)

Note. This mode also serves to remove air when starting the pump.

Removing air

To remove air from the pump when it is put into operation, it is necessary to set the high (III) fixed speed mode for a short period of time. After this procedure, it is possible to set the required operating mode.

Increased starting torque

The pump will start without problems even after a long period of inactivity of several months.

If the summer mode function was not turned on before the summer season, lime deposits could potentially block the pump. ALPHA 3 begins to vibrate during startup, trying to spin the rotor with an increased starting torque of up to 27 N*m, thereby destroying any dirt deposits.

Summer mode function

The function protects the pump and the heating system as a whole from souring

IN heating systems that have not been in use for several months, limescale deposits will often form, potentially preventing the pump and system from starting properly before being prepared for use. heating season. The summer mode function, turned on immediately before the start of the summer season, protects the pump rotor and the heating system as a whole from souring. Once a day, the pump will start and run at minimum speed for two minutes, which is enough to protect the rotor and the system. At the same time, electricity consumption is reduced to an almost absolute minimum.

Dry running protection

Built-in dry-running protection algorithm provides unrivaled protection and durability ALPHA3

Built-in dry-running protection with automatic restart helps prevent premature pump failure. The protection algorithm is a “thinking” mechanism that can determine the cause of dry running: a fluid leak in the system, an air lock, or the shut-off valves in front of the pump are closed. Thanks to dry-running protection life cycle ALPHA3 is significantly increased.

Cataphoretic coating of the hydraulic part

The special coating of the hydraulic part of the ALPHA2 pump serves to effective fight with metal corrosion from the inside - in the case of using poorly prepared water as a coolant; and outside - in the case of using a pump in air conditioning systems, when on the pump body due to low temperatures coolant, condensation forms on the pump body.

The cataphoresis coating also improves the hydraulic efficiency of the ALPHA2 pump.

Thermal insulating casing

Now heat losses through the pump housing will be smaller using a heat-insulating casing, which leads to a reduction in energy costs when operating your heating system. In addition, the chances of getting burned on the pump body are close to zero.

Operating modes

Constant differential pressure mode

This mode is used in those systems where the coolant flow varies over time, and the pressure drop value must remain constant. A striking example of such systems is the collector distribution of heated floor circuits (see figure)

Proportional differential pressure control mode

This mode is used in those systems where, with a time-varying coolant flow rate, it is permissible to change the pressure drop in order to reduce energy costs. An excellent example is a two-pipe heating system for a private house using thermostatic valves (see figure).

Fixed speed mode

This mode is provided for those systems where it is necessary to operate the pump at a fixed speed. For example, for installation on boiler loading. And also for those systems where the operating point does not fall within the characteristics of the AUTO Adapt function. An example is a single-pipe heating system for a private house without thermostatic valves (see figure)

Note. This mode also serves to remove air when starting the pump.

NIGHT MODE

The ALPHA2 pump automatically switches to night mode when a temperature drop in the pressure pipe of more than 10–15°C is detected over a period of approximately 2 hours. The temperature drop rate must be at least 0.1 °C/min. The transition to normal operation occurs as soon as the temperature in the pressure pipe increases by approximately 10°C.

IMPORTANT: the pump must be installed in the supply line!

AUTO ADAPT

This mode meets the needs of 80% of circulation systems in private homes.

ROTATION SPEED IS ADJUSTED ACCORDING TO CHANGING CONDITIONS

The degree of heating of any room depends on several factors. This includes temperature environment, quantity sunlight, general activity and other heat sources.

The variable speed pump automatically adjusts power output to meet changing demands, allowing it to match thermostat settings while using minimal energy.

Notice how the pump automatically reduces speed in each appropriate case. This helps save energy.

PLUG IT IN AND GO AWAY z>

At Grundfos we believe in making the complex simple and innovative technologies intuitive.

AUTO function ADAPT reflects this philosophy. It extends the benefits of electronic pump control and even makes installation easier. A pump with the AUTOadapt function constantly analyzes the system in which it is installed, and as the coolant flow changes, it adapts to it.

WHAT IS AUTO ADAPT?

Developed and patented by Grundfos, AUTO technology ADAPT serves several purposes:

  • Improving the engine speed control function;
  • Self-check by the pump for its compliance with the system;
  • Achieving ideal comfort with minimum costs energy.

NEW BENEFITS

AUTO function ADAPT ALPHA2 is the second generation of well-known and established technologies that are familiar to our customers from the MAGNA series. Setting AUTO ADAPT - perfect choice for more than 80% of systems.

Second generation of AUTO function ADAPT for ALPHA2 has two significant improvements:

  • It does not need to reach the maximum pump performance curve to adapt to the heating system requirements;
  • It allows the pump to adjust its performance curve either up or down.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL

Grundfos pumps with electronically controlled(E-pumps) are capable of “intelligent” performance control. We have integrated a frequency converter to automatically adjust the motor speed so that the pump creates the required pressure in the system.

“Proportional pressure function” - implies maintaining pressure depending on the supply. The pressure decreases in proportion to the decrease in supply until, at zero supply, a pressure value equal to 50% of the set value is reached.

Avoiding constant operation at one speed, Grundfos smart pumps operate according to a proportional pressure curve. This makes them much more efficient than standard three-speed pumps.

SPEED CONTROL RESPONDS TO CHANGING CONDITIONS

Heating requirement different rooms consists of several factors. These include outside temperature, sunlight levels, use of electrical appliances and other heat sources.

The frequency-controlled pump automatically adjusts output as demand changes. This allows you to match your thermostat settings while using minimal energy.

STANDARD PUMP - UNJUSTIFIED COSTS

The standard three-speed pump operates at a fixed speed all the time, regardless of the actual heating demand. This represents unjustified actions, such as driving a car without releasing the gas pedal.

This means that the pump creates pressure even when it is not required, which causes noise in the system and wasted energy.

E-PUMP - MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE

The Grundfos smart E-pump does not create excess pressure. Continuing the comparison with a car, the E-pump reduces the gas supply to slow down, and this happens whenever it can slow down on its own, without additional effort.

Result? Significant reduction in energy consumption. Electronically controlled pumps and low value EEI energy efficiency index, provide savings of up to 80% compared to conventional pumps (class D). Under normal circumstances, it takes about two years for the end user to recoup the initial additional cost of purchasing a new pump. Combined with Grundfos' reputation, quality and reliability, this means cost savings for many years to come.

HOW IT WORKS?

ALPHA2 with AUTO function ADAPT selects the minimum possible pressure that meets the requirements of the system. It will constantly find an operating point that provides optimal level comfort with minimal energy consumption.

FACTORY SETTINGS

Setting AUTO ADAPT on ALPHA2 it starts at the factory from a given operating point along a reference curve. This proportional pressure curve is located in the center of the AUTO control area ADAPT .

The pump begins to analyze heating scheme from a given operating point. If the current operating point deviates from the set one over time, the pump automatically adjusts the corresponding output.

In other words, if the heating system demand exceeds the set operating point, the pump will select an increased proportional pressure curve. If the requirements are lower, the lower curve will be selected.

NEW SETTINGS

When the proportional pressure curve settings are changed to adapt to the heating system requirements, AUTO ADAPT automatically sets a new reference operating point. With new settings the process starts again: AUTO ADAPT will constantly adapt to changes in the heating scheme.

INSTALLERS AND CONSUMERS

As a result of several studies, it turned out that most installers never determine specific parameters and do not carry out hydraulic calculations of the heating systems in which they install pump equipment. Therefore, it is difficult for them to choose suitable pump designed to work on a specific system, install it and configure it correctly.

With ALPHA2 the installer after completing the installation and selecting the AUTO function ADAPT, can walk away confident that the pump will adapt to the system and automatically select the optimal settings.

Circulation pumps ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 2L are designed to ensure water circulation in heating systems, in local systems hot water supply, as well as air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

A cooling system is a system in which the ambient temperature is higher than the temperature of the pumped liquid.

The ALPHA 2, ALPHA 2L and ALPHA 3 pumps are suitable for systems such as:

· Systems with variable temperatures in the pressure pipeline;

· Systems with constant or variable flow, in which it is necessary to optimize the position of the pump operating point;

· Systems in which it is advisable to use automatic night mode (only for ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 3)

The ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 2L pumps are new generation circulator pumps with high energy efficiency and intelligence. They are made in Denmark and have a 5 year warranty.

The main difference between ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 2L is the number of intelligent operating modes.

ALPHA 2 also differs from ALPHA 2L in that ALPHA 2 has a cataphoretic coating of the flow part, which makes this part of the pump more corrosion-resistant and improves hydraulic characteristics, and they already include a heat-insulating casing.

ALPHA 2 circulation pumps are available in two versions Model D and Model C. The differences between these models are that Model C has 3 constant pressure modes, 3 proportional pressure modes, 3 fixed speeds, AUTOadapt function, night mode function, summer mode function. And Model D pumps have added dry-running protection and high starting characteristics.

In adjustable pumps Alpha 2, by adjusting the rotation speed, the pressure can be changed proportionally or maintained at a constant level. The ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 2L pumps reduce pressure in response to reduced heat consumption. When heat consumption decreases, the thermostatic valves close and this leads to a decrease in flow and an increase in pump pressure.

ALPHA 2L pumps are a circulation pump designed for use in hot water supply systems and domestic heating. The prefix L means that this is a device with limited functions.

Using the ALPHA 2 model, you don’t have to worry about complex pump settings. It is enough to install this pump and leave the factory settings in AUTOadapt mode.

The ALPHA 2 and ALPHA 2L pumps are the latest innovative models from the manufacturer Grundfos.
