This is the hanging holder for paper towels, made with your own hands from wood, is attached to the bottom of the kitchen cabinet.

Necessary materials

To make a roll paper towel holder you will need planed pine boards. The homemade dimensions are small, so you can take 15–25 mm thick scraps left over from previous projects. If you can’t find it in your home workshop suitable material, you can glue together a 180 mm wide wooden board with your own hands or purchase a small ready-made furniture panel.

For the crossbar, a round stick with a diameter of about 25 mm, for example, from a handle, is suitable garden tools. Side handles are slightly modified door handles. Although such details are not a problem to turn into lathe on wood. You will also need a magnet, wood glue, a drop of any universal glue and a screw.

How to make a holder

The design of the towel holder is so simple that all the work can actually be done hand tools: Cut out the grooves with a hacksaw and then remove the wood with a chisel. Well, if you have a circular saw or router, it will be much easier, and the connections will come out neater. What you definitely can’t do without is an electric drill and feather drills.

Start with horizontal shelves

Prepare two blanks with a width of 180 mm and a length commensurate with the roll towels used. Cut grooves along the edges on a circular saw or select them manual router. Sand the edges with sandpaper.

The parts of our towel holder are held together with glue using grooves and ridges. Strong docking ports provide structural rigidity and do not require reinforcement with screws. Cutout sizes are given for pine shield 18 mm thick, if using another material, calculate the cutouts yourself.

Make two sides

Mark a side panel with rounded cutouts on a wooden board, cut the workpiece with a jigsaw and sand the edges with a grinder. Make a second piece using the first as a template.

Mark on internal surfaces sidewalls location of the grooves, which should be 1 mm wider than the corresponding ridges on the horizontal parts. Select the recesses with a groove disc or router bit.

Take round blank for the crossbar with a length allowance of 2–3 cm and sand its surface. Measure the diameter of the stick and select a feather drill slightly bigger size. Mark the drilling centers on the sidewalls and make holes: on the left workpiece with a depth of up to half the thickness of the material, and on the right - through hole.

Assemble the holder parts together

Coat the grooves and ridges of the blanks with glue and assemble the structure. Tighten the workpieces with clamps and wait for the adhesive to dry completely. Then secure the handle to the left side using a countersunk screw, screwing it into the bottom of the blind hole.

Make a blind hole in the right handle to the size of a round stick, limiting the drilling depth to 15 mm. Fasten the parts with wood glue.

Insert the crossbar into the holder until it stops and determine the length of the stick, taking into account that the magnet subsequently placed at the end should protrude slightly from the surface. Saw off the excess wood, select a recess for the magnet and secure it with multi-purpose glue.

Cover the wood with stain or varnish. Once dry, secure the holder with short screws to the bottom panel of the kitchen cabinet, and hang a roll of paper towels in place.

Our homemade product can also be mounted on the wall through furniture corners installed inside the shelf. In this case top panel turns into extra bed for storage.

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Punching the Holes

Using an awl and a hammer or a hole punch, make 5 small holes in a leather strap as shown in the picture.

That is, on one side of the strap by 5 cm, 7.5 cm and 18 cm, on the other by 5 cm and 18 cm. Do the same with the other strap.

Step 2: Fold the straps

Fold the first strap in half, aligning the holes ( 18 cm from each end ) and install the rivet. Repeat these steps for the second strap.

Step 3: Attach the straps to the wall

Place the strap against the wall so that the hole (which is 7.5 cm from the edge) is in the place on the wall where you will attach the strap.
Fold back the front layer of the strap.
Through the same hole, mark a point on the wall with a pencil - a place for the screw. Set the strap aside and drill a hole in the wall for a screw at the marked point (use a dowel if necessary).
Repeat these steps for the other belt, to do this, mark a point clearly on the same horizontal line, at a distance of approximately 45 cm from the first, taking into account the length of the wooden stick.

Now connect the straps to the remaining holes (that is, 5 cm from the edge) and insert a rivet, the same on the other.

Step 4: Hanging up the towels

All that's left to do is place the paper towels between the straps and thread the wooden stick through the first strap, the towel roll sleeve, and the second strap.

Now the towels are convenient to use. Changing an empty roll is also not difficult.

Detailed instructions:

Step 1: Cutting the tubes

Using a pipe cutter or hacksaw, cut one tube approximately 2.5 cm more than your paper towels.
Cut another one about 10 cm- this will be enough for the roll of towels to fit under the cabinet, and at the same time not be too low from it.

TIP: Remember that the mounting hardware will add a few more inches.

Step 2: Glue the tubes

Apply a layer of super glue to the copper corner (with the same diameters on both sides) along the rim and insert a short copper tube(press firmly and wait until it locks into place).

Apply super glue to the inside of the copper cap and then insert the narrow end of the other copper angle into it.
Now insert a long tube into the other end of the corner closed with a cork, initially smearing the corner with super glue along the rim.
That is, now you should have: a short tube (with a corner open on one side), and a long tube (with a corner closed with a stopper).

Step 3: Matching the Tubes

Apply glue to the open part of the corner and insert a long tube into it. In this case, the short tube and the closed corner should be directed in one direction, as in the photo.

Step 4: Connect to the mount

Screw the wide end of the adapter to the metal circle, and insert the adapter on the other side. Now glue the free end of the short tube there.

Step 5: Screw it on

Screw the holder to the bottom of the cabinet in the chosen location. Place the paper towels and they are now ready to use!

Manufacturing does not take much time; the process itself is reminiscent of a construction set, only with practical application.
