The Library is a Territory of Opportunities

The current situation in society, caused by changes of a political and social nature, has confronted libraries with the need to rethink their purpose and areas of interest, redefine the goals and objectives of their activities, and reconsider their role and place in the life of society. The current situation requires the search for new models of library development that ensure the viability of the library as a social institution necessary for society in the context of building an open knowledge society. That is why a library should be not only a territory for reading, but also a territory for entertainment, hobbies, tourism, learning, and creativity.
The Central City Library tries to cover the entire range of designated areas and positions itself as the center of attraction of the city community.

Central City Library – entertainment area

Let us dwell on the largest and most significant projects, on events that have become the “brand” of the Central City Library.

The summer vacation reading program has been running since 1994. Its creation was due to the need to organize children's leisure time during the holidays. During summer holidays work with young Tagil residents is carried out in two directions: organizing leisure time and attracting children who visit the library individually to reading; and organizing work with city recreation camps.
The goals of the program: organizing children's leisure time in the summer, attracting them to reading, developing creative abilities based on books.

The library is a territory of passion

This area includes events held in our library clubs (today there are 20 of them). But a distinctive feature of the past year was the fascinating and very difficult organizational work of holding literary and musical salons.

Teachers and schoolchildren of Children's Music School No. 5 helped to plunge into the atmosphere of his enchanting, inspired and at the same time powerful music.
Another salon, dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the Decembrist uprising, was held in accordance with the requirements of the salons of the 19th century. At the event there was music, poetry, and a conversation on one of the burning topics - the Decembrists, their role in national history, the significance of the uprising on Senate Square. The library's partners that evening were teachers from Children's Music School No. 3.

In our city, this is an amazing adventure, in which there is a place for performances, games, competitions, travel, and interesting meetings. These days the results of the library year are summed up and new beginnings are launched. The festival ends with the city festival of Books and Reading.

Since 2014, our library has been connected to an electronic resource « » . This system is an affordable and universal solution for libraries. It allows readers to issue electronic books for downloading on any device via the Internet, and this significantly expands the capabilities of our library system, attracts new users, and allows us to keep up with the times.

The main function of a library is to attract people to reading; this can be done using various “tools”. This is the second year that the Central City Hospital has hosted “Library Night”. 2015 theme – « » . More than 2,000 Tagil residents took part in the event, for whom 11 creative platforms operated. A feature of Library Night 2015 was a large number of families who came to the library to relax and participate in various competitions and events. For children and parents there were sites “Bibliotwilight”, “Fairy Tale Classics”, “Molniya” Theater, “Fairy Tales in Pajamas”, and a master class “Bookmarks for Every Taste”. Young people gladly took part in the activities of the Playback Theater, tested their knowledge at the Charadoboom site and at the mysterious detective agency Mousetrap.
The quest game “Classics in Faces,” in which both family and youth teams took part, caused a great stir. Participants had to restore the missing text of a note about a mysterious abduction and pass several tests to do this: solve the hieroglyph “city”, the riddle of a clever detective, take part in an interactive vote for heroes of Russian and foreign literature, answer the pirate’s questions, evaluate a work of art. Teams that reached the finish line received gifts.
One of the most visited sites at Library Night was “Literary Fortune-Telling. Who am I? Tolstoy? Pushkin? Lermontov? Those who came to the library could use numerology to find out their characteristics based on their date of birth and determine their similarities with famous Russian or foreign classics of literature. Many visitors to the site left inspired, having learned that they had the same energy as A. Pushkin, A. Christie, I. Turgenev or S. K. Nosov, the mayor of our city.
Guests of the evening enjoyed writing with a real pen into an old album on the site “Write, dear friends...”. In the album, many left their wishes for the library, very warm and positive: “I love your library!”, “More readers and rare books,” “Thank you for the master classes! It’s very nice to remember and repeat wonderful customs. It’s great that all this is given to children Well done! Good education of our future generation," etc. The evening ended with festive fireworks.

The night of the arts is also firmly integrated into the life of our library. In 2015, Tagil residents were invited to it on November 3. The program was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Yesenin and was an exhibition the size of a library. The title was taken from the poet's lines "". Our guests enjoyed plunging into the world in which Yesenin lived and worked.

In the “Magic Illusion” cinema hall they showed films and newsreels from the beginning of the last century. Before the sessions in the “Musical Lounge,” romances based on the poems of Sergei Yesenin were performed live by teachers of Children’s Music School No. 1 named after. Rimsky-Korsakov. The “Mirror” theater studio of the city palace of children and youth creativity opened a literary lounge, in which the poet’s poems and songs of the “Guitar Lovers Club” of the “Mir” children’s and youth center sounded. In the musical and poetic salon “The Singing Soul of Russia”, the guests were greeted by Sergei Yesenin himself, whose role was played by a student from NTGMC. Guests of the salon enjoyed a live performance of the poet's works. In an impromptu photo salon, visitors were invited to take a souvenir photo with the poet.
Guests of the evening enjoyed taking part in the interactive game “Your Acquaintance, Sergei Yesenin”, mastering a new technique - a multi-touch touch table. For modern equipment 8 quiz presentations were developed: “The Poet’s Muses”; “Friends, listen to me...” (friends and teachers of the poet); “There is a song in these lines” (musical masterpieces based on Yesenin’s poems), etc. Tagil residents had the opportunity not only to test their knowledge, but also to expand it with the help of links and comments.
For the first time in the library, the quest “The key to the room in Angleterre” took place in a closed room. Four teams passed the tests, all successfully completed the task, spending from twenty-five to forty minutes searching for the key.

48 people took part in the creation of a “living book” “My poems, calmly tell me...” by reading their favorite poems by Yesenin on a video camera. A short film was made from the recordings and posted on the library website.
Guests of the library enjoyed the sound of old records, drew poems on sand tables, played spillikins, wrote with a pen and were in no hurry to go home. More than 500 people became guests of the Central City Hospital.

The library is a tourism territory
Since 2014, the library has been working on intracity tourism. Nizhny Tagil is an attractive city in this regard. Many guests come to us for international arms exhibitions, All-Russian forums (All-Russian Youth Forum of Working Youth 2015), and sporting events.
Today, both the state and its citizens are becoming more and more interested in history, as a means of patriotic education. Local history is, in fact, the starting point for educating the younger generation. A new and exciting form of work for the specialists of the mass work department was conducting tram and walking tours of the city, developed jointly with the city’s Tourism Development Center. One of the routes, Dzerzhinsky district - the city center, is the most entertaining and educational. Students from city schools get acquainted with the history of the city, the UVZ-City tram service, the famous Tagil dynasties of craftsmen and famous writers of the Urals and Nizhny Tagil. Tram excursions are a unique phenomenon for the library, promoting intellectual growth, encouraging knowledge and love for the hometown of school students. A popular walking tour along the malachite line of the city, laid through the historical center.
In 2015, seven Central Library specialists completed advanced training courses under the Excursion Activities program. This made it possible to develop a number of new excursion routes in different areas of the city.

Library – learning area
The department of specialized literature conducts library lessons for young people on the topics: “The number of languages you know, the number of times you are human”; “Lesson in fascinating linguistics”; “Training to work with a dictionary”; " E-books in the liters library.
Traditionally, in its work it takes into account the interests and requests of such categories of users as teenagers and young people. To help young people, classes are conducted in the following areas:
- “School of Social Competence” - a series of classes with elements communication training: “Knowing yourself”, “Training confident behavior”, “I choose health”, etc.

The library is a territory of creativity
The library institution, which dates back thousands of years, is today rapidly changing under the influence of digital technologies. However, with the development of technological progress, most people also have a need for a break from these most ubiquitous technologies, for self-realization.
A striking example of creative development is the city open competition of children's literary creativity « » , dedicated to D.N. Mamin-Sibiryak. It has been held annually since 2006 from March to December. Its tasks are to introduce children and teenagers to the history of the Urals, to study the literary heritage of their native land, to identify and encourage young authors.

In 2015, 448 people took part in the competition, representing 467 creative works in the categories “Prose”, “Fairy Tale”, “Works of different genres”, “Media projects”, “Fiction about children and for children”. Relaxation evenings should have a thematic focus, i.e. reflect any significant events in the life of the country, the Armed Forces, or the unit. Each evening must be given a clear logical structure, and its content must include original game episodes.

To prepare for the evening you need to create initiative group(5-7 people), distribute responsibilities (who is the presenter, who is responsible for music provision, preparation of games, attractions, decoration of the hall, maintaining order) and draw up a script (program) for the evening.

When drawing up a script, you need to pay attention to the preparation of the musical repertoire, the features of playing games and filling in pauses. If the situation allows, with the permission of the unit command, you can invite girls from any educational institution or from the enterprise. At the same time, think through issues related to their arrival and seeing off after the evening. Before the start of the evening, it is necessary to instruct the personnel on issues of culture of behavior and communication at the evening. The opening of the evening should create a certain emotional mood. This can be achieved by figuratively communicating something joyful and outstanding, playing a musical introduction, etc.

During the evening it is important to ensure general order, uninterrupted operation of equipment, musical instruments and lighting devices. The ending of the evening should also be bright and memorable (general dance or song, prize lottery, etc.).

The design of the room should be simple in terms of the choice of visual means, concise, allowing you to quickly make the necessary changes, taking into account the specifics of combat training activities and the life of units, and at the same time - colorful, attractive and educational.

IN decoration rooms on stands, panels, tablets must be placed in the most important information from the point of view of education of military personnel.

The central place in the entire composition of the visual and artistic design of the room is given to stands with images of state symbols. It is displayed in strict accordance with the provisions of legislative acts of the Russian Federation and federal constitutional laws.

On stands revealing the heroic history of the Russian people and their Armed Forces, material is posted about the most important events related to the defense of the Fatherland, days of military glory (victory days) of Russia. Photographs, reproductions of works of battle painting and graphics are used as visual material.

Revealing life of the unit, tasks and progress of their implementation, the stands display photographs of advanced military personnel who have achieved high results in service, combat training and military discipline.

The decoration of the room is usually done members of the Room Council, led by the deputy company commander for educational work.

When decorating a room, the area and configuration of the room, the dimensions of the walls, the height of the ceiling, the number of windows, and the size of the walls must be taken into account.

The number and purpose of stands, the size of each of them and their location, and the presence of other interior elements are determined.

Of great importance stand placement.
They must form a single artistic composition that carries a certain semantic meaning for the serviceman.

You cannot clutter the room with large stands ranging from floor to ceiling. The text on them should be short, succinct, with colorful illustrations and photographs.

The stands are located in a logical relationship and sequence, taking into account the semantic meaning and volume of the material, with a mandatory combination with the overall spatial color composition.
It is advisable to have removable tablets, on which updated material is placed. The dimensions of removable tablets depend on the area of the stand, the volume of material intended for them and its content.

At the top of each stand there should be a large print headers. The title text should be laconic, concise and clearly express the main meaning of the stand. It should interest, awaken a desire to gain new knowledge, and obtain a deeper interpretation and commentary on a particular event.

Selecting illustrations and photographs, It is necessary to avoid variegation, as well as harsh colors and tones that hurt the eyes.
Photos should be used from the life of a unit or military unit. This will enhance the attractiveness and clarity of the text material.

Text font should be simple, easy to read, without unnecessary flourishes. Headings are written in the largest letters, subheadings in smaller letters, and the author's text in even smaller letters.

When carrying out design work in a room, it is necessary to take into account that much depends on the successful and competent selection of color, taking into account its compatibility various groups. Well selected color combinations contribute psychological relief military personnel. It is not recommended to use the following combinations of spectral colors: blue with green; blue with yellow; red with green. The room hosts meetings with veterans of wars and the Armed Forces, figures of science, literature and art, theme evenings and matinees dedicated to memorable dates in Russian history.

The room can be used to listen to audio recordings, primarily on military and military-historical topics, problems of heroic-patriotic, moral, legal, and aesthetic education.

A room is a place where military personnel instills a love of books and an interest in reading. For this purpose, performances by library workers, active readers, book lovers from among the officers, warrant officers of the unit and members of their families are organized. When planning the work of the room, it is planned to allocate time for amateur creative activities and interest groups. It is important not only to properly organize the work of the room, but also to provide every serviceman with the opportunity to relax, find something to do to his liking, and write a letter to his homeland.

It is advisable that in the room, especially if the part is in a large locality, was always information about where it would be more appropriate for a serviceman to visit while on leave, which cultural institutions and memorable places to visit.

Depending on the nature of the tasks performed by the unit and their location, the contents of the work room are not the same everywhere. Overall this is creative process . But its essence remains unchanged: providing assistance to the company commander in carrying out educational activities in the interests of successfully solving combat training tasks, strengthening military discipline, uniting the unit’s team, raising the cultural level of military personnel, educating them as citizens and patriots, reliable defenders of the Fatherland.

I already wrote that on my first day in the army, the guys and I immediately ended up in the barracks. To be precise, in front of the entrance there was a sign “Soldiers' Dormitory.” Considering that at the time of June 26, 2015, I spent the night in student dormitory, where I lived for the last 4 years of my life, I had certain ideas about what awaited me and the other guys behind the doors of this “soldier’s dorm.”

However, my expectations were not met. It turned out that this soldiers' dormitory was many times newer and more comfortable than the one where I lived during the last period of my life. However, first things first. Let me make a reservation right away that the photographs you are about to see are not a standard and the only option filling army barracks. Here I have collected photographs of only those premises without which I cannot imagine any similar barracks in other parts. So, let's get acquainted!

Entrance to the company

Entrance to the company begins with the meeting of the next orderly in the company. He, as expected, serves front door, near the weapons storage room. Therefore, we cannot pass by it. A soldier entering a company is obliged to perform a military salute to the orderly and vice versa.

The red box in the first photo is where fire extinguishers are stored. There are two of them. There is, of course, more of everything in the company.

Central aisle

Central passage or “take-off”

The central passage used to be called the take-off. The Internet is still full of videos of how soldiers, during activities, washed the runway with foam and rode on mops on it. As if taking off like planes on a runway. This is where the name came from.

From the central passage you can get to almost any part of the barracks. Both the main and emergency exits are naturally connected to it. Well, access to the sleeping quarters and all public places is also only through it.

Tea room

Tea room - favorite place many. There is even a schedule on the front door of the tea room indicating who is allowed to use the room. So, dear mothers, fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers, as well as our beloved halves, if you bring us food - know that we are either in the dining room, or this is where we enjoy home cooking and your gifts.

Always works in the teahouse important rule: After eating, clean up after yourself. We have no other way!

Information and leisure room

Information and leisure room

This, by the way, is also one of the most popular rooms in the barracks. In the evening there is the opportunity to watch TV or just chat with family on the phone on weekends. And every day at 21.00 - watching the TV program “Time”. A mandatory event in the daily routine in the army!

Toilet

Here, I think no special comments are needed. The toilet should always be clean, beautiful and smell delicious. And these tasks are what is actively required from.

We use foot sinks to wash our feet every night before bed. cold water, and also wash our socks.

Room for drying uniforms

Room for drying uniforms

A room for drying uniforms, or unofficially just a drying room. This is exactly the place where our combat boots, socks and washed clothes end up every day.

In the army, the law is simple: if the boots are not on their feet, they must hang in the dryer. Same thing with socks. V winter time years, the dryer is the warmest place in the company. After all, there are a lot of radiators there, which are especially hot in winter.

Wash room

The wash room is traditionally full only once a day - after morning physical exercise, when the morning toilet is scheduled. One way or another, I still don’t remember a time when a soldier did not have enough time to wash and clean himself up before a morning inspection.

In the last photo you can also see washing machines, which we actively use after the evening verification.

Shower room

Shower room

This is what our shower room looks like. It gets especially crowded in the evenings of every day, in free time from 19.00 to 21.00. In total, we have 5 shower stalls for our company of 80-90 people, which is enough for everyone to wash themselves evenly in 2 hours.

Household service room

The Housekeeping Room is a place where you can get your uniform in order and ready for tomorrow. Threads, needles, buttons, irons, gauze, uniform cleaning brushes and much more are at your complete disposal.

Here, by the way, there is also a place for haircuts for personnel. The company must have a freelance hairdresser who cuts a certain number of people’s hair every evening as needed.

Even some officers turn to his services from time to time. At such moments, he probably regrets that he cannot make good money on his skill. :-)

Sleeping area

The main place in the barracks for many. Barracks beds are especially comfortable and wonderful, because you fall into them with special pleasure every evening.

By the way, there is one interesting rule in the army on this topic.

A serviceman is prohibited from lying down or sitting on the bed until the “Hang up” command. The punishment can be severe...

By the way, in our barracks there are new beds. They don't creak or fall through. And these are pleasant bonuses that are not available to all Russian soldiers. And, if you noticed, our blankets do not have black stripes, like on the post’s avatar.

This means that we have less hassle with making the bed. Be that as it may, order in the sleeping quarters is the basis of order in the barracks.

In total, we have 3 sleeping quarters (in common parlance - cubicles) per company. Each one sleeps about 30 people. There is enough space for everyone, no complaints. Some sleeping bags even have empty seats.

And this despite the fact that our battalion is traditionally 100% staffed.

P.S. To be honest, I am incredibly glad that I live in such conditions. I repeat once again that in my dorm in St. Petersburg there was no such improvement. Well, you quickly get used to good things. This is probably why I now want, upon returning from the army to civilian life, to live in an apartment with European-quality renovation.

I look forward to your comments and photographs from your barracks and duty stations. It is incredibly interesting to find out what other conditions our soldiers live in.
