The procedure for assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism. How the bed lift mechanism works: installation, assembly and disassembly. How to choose a bed with a lifting mechanism

Many of the residents of apartments in high-rise buildings would like to buy themselves a large bed, which will allow them to spend their holidays in comfort. But at the same time, the area of some bedrooms leaves much to be desired - sometimes it is simply not enough. Very often a situation occurs when a huge bed blocks access to the wardrobe or prevents the door to the balcony from opening, or even the door to the room. In such cases, there is only one thing rational decision is the search and purchase of furniture that would have special mechanism. The use of such structures would save a lot of space, but, unfortunately, not everyone understands assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism. Let's look at this seemingly complex procedure and pay attention to the main nuances.

What are lift beds made of?

How to assemble a bed with a lifting mechanism? In order to assemble furniture with such functionality, you will need to assemble all the available components together:

  1. Frame.
  2. Lifting mechanism. It is he who saves us space.
  3. The simplest mattress.
  4. Closet. This item is used to fold the bed in a vertical orientation.

Design features:

  • This component is made of two horizontal boards that are about two meters long. Two transverse boards are also used, the size of which is about one and a half meters.
  • Supporting strips in the form of a metal corner are scattered around the perimeter of the structure. These elements are fastened with self-tapping screws in two rows at once - a mattress support is placed on the top one, and a pair of plywood strips or chipboard sheets. It turns out that a kind of internal box is created between the mattress and the floor surface, in which it is very convenient to store sleeping accessories.

Important! In large beds, for convenience and reliability, this compartment is equipped with a special longitudinal partition that divides the space into two parts.

  • Myself lifting mechanism consists entirely of steel, and is made of two dynamic hinges, which are firmly attached to the head of the furniture.
  • This design also includes two small lifting systems made of springs, which are equipped with special driving rods with two gas shock absorbers.

Important! The mattress included is the simplest one. Usually it is spring orthopedic.

  • The closet is made from coated chipboard with the condition that a bed can fit into it in a vertical orientation.
  • At the very bottom of this cabinet there is always a horizontal rod that secures the structure's lifting system.

Installation instructions

The assembly diagram of a bed with a lifting mechanism looks approximately as follows:

  • First, the closet itself is assembled, where the raised furniture will be put away.
  • After this, the assembly of the main part - the bed - begins. Vertical and horizontal boards are laid out, to which metal corners are simply screwed.

Important! You should start screwing the corners from the bottom row. This approach will simplify the assembly process.

  • Next, the box-shaped frame is screwed on. During installation, you should carefully check that all fastening elements are installed correctly so that the furniture fits into the cabinet.
  • A special plywood bottom is placed on the lower part, which is also bolted through required holes in elements.
  • Then the supporting corners are also placed on the top row and a horizontal partition for the internal space is mounted.
  • Next, the assembly of the actual lifting mechanism of the structure begins. On the transverse plane, which is located at the head of the bed, movable hinges are placed in the area of the upper edge. These components will allow the entire structure, when extended, to fit into a sliding cabinet.
  • Gas-type shock absorbers are attached to the side walls of the frame in the form of a box, somewhere at a distance of one meter from the headboard.

Important! When installing, make sure that the elements are positioned strictly symmetrically, since otherwise the entire system will not be able to withstand the load for long.

  • On the opposite side of the head part, special support legs are installed.
  • Next, along the outer perimeter of the corners, the support frame for the mattress itself is installed, which is also fixed with bolts.
  • The orthopedic spring mattress itself is placed on the installed frame.

Video material

At this point, the process of assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism can be considered complete. Using the lifting mechanism, you can lift the entire bed with just one hand. The most important thing is to maintain consistency during installation. Please note that finished design there should be a smooth rate of ascent.

In conditions of shortage square meters we have to look for ways to extract maximum benefit from literally every piece of furniture. Even from a bed that seems to be intended only for rest and cannot perform any other tasks. But as practice shows, some furniture models are very multifunctional. For example, a bed with a lifting mechanism - it can be used both for sleeping and for storing all kinds of bedding. Do you think such a bed will cost too much? You're wrong - you can even make it yourself. And our photos, drawings and assembly videos will help you with this.

Preparation for installation

Making a bed with a lifting mechanism should begin with the preparation of drawings, materials and tools.

If you are doing similar work for the first time, it is better to use ready-made furniture assembly drawings to avoid serious design errors that will cost you the functionality of the bed.

Materials and tools you will need:

  • Chipboard and MDF;
  • lifting mechanism;
  • screwdriver and screws;
  • jigsaw;
  • bars;
  • boards;

  • wooden slats;
  • furniture stapler;
  • upholstery material;
  • sheet foam rubber.

As for the lifting mechanism, it can be of two types:

  1. Gas – operates using gas spring-shock absorbers. It can be blocking - with fixation in a certain position, as well as standard - without fixation. Main advantages: noiselessness, ease of operation, soft finishing.
  2. Mechanical - operates using metal springs. The main advantage is the ability to adjust the operation of the lifting system by adding, removing, loosening and tightening springs.

Advice. If you are planning to assemble a double bed, choose a gas mechanism - it is more durable and durable.

Now you can start making furniture.

Bed assembly

First of all, you need to build a solid foundation for the furniture. To do this, make:

  • sidewalls, drawers, headboards and bottoms for drawers - made of chipboard or MDF;
  • the frame for the base is made of bars;
  • mattress cover – made of wooden planks and slats.

Then assemble the bed base from all these elements:

  • secure the bottom for future boxes on the timber frame;
  • install the drawers and sides on the frame, and on top of them - the mattress flooring;
  • secure the headboard to the base.

Use self-tapping screws to connect parts.

Then install the lifting mechanism. It is already on sale in finished form, so you only need to firmly seat the system on the nuts that usually come with it in the kit: first the lower steel strip is attached to the timber frame of the base, and then the top one is attached to the side part.

Advice. If you want the most durable bed possible, install it on steel frame: take the profile and use a grinder to cut it into pieces of the required dimensions, and then weld the parts into a single structure - then fix the bed frame on it.

Sheathing and finishing

When the bed structure is ready, it needs to be sheathed. This is done in order, firstly, to hide the frame and frame elements, secondly, to obtain a comfortable and soft bed, and thirdly, to give the furniture an aesthetic appearance.

First of all, lay a sheet of foam rubber on the base - optimal quantity Define the layers yourself. Close it from above upholstery material. It can be not only fabric, but also leatherette or leather. It is best to fasten the sheathing to the frame using a furniture stapler: its steel staples are firmly driven into the base, but at the same time remain unnoticeable on the sheathing, so they do not damage appearance furniture. Also don't forget to line decorative material and the sides of the bed. In those places where the finishing will often come into contact with the lifting mechanism, you can place small pads under the main material.

After covering, all that remains is to install the finishing accessories: support legs, wheels or rollers.

Thus, if you understand the instructions, then even making such a complex piece of furniture as a bed with a lifting mechanism will be a completely feasible task. So don’t rush to spend money on a store-bought product - with some effort, you can get an equally attractive model, but several times cheaper.

In city apartments, the issue of lack of space is acute. How to optimize space so as not to overload it with unnecessary storage systems? The perfect solution- purchasing a bed with a lifting mechanism. This design will allow you to save space due to spacious drawers in which you can hide unnecessary things. However, after the purchase, a logical question arises: how to assemble a bed with a lifting mechanism?

In fact, there is nothing complicated about this, the only thing required is quick installation- presence of a screwdriver or screwdriver. It is also advisable to enlist the help of an assistant: if you plan to assemble a double bed, you cannot do without help. And do not forget to strictly follow the instructions. Otherwise, the structure may become shaky or deformed.

If you do not have an engineering background, before starting assembly, watch several training videos that show each step of the work in detail. This will allow you to understand the design and do everything right the first time.

The instructions for assembling beds with a lifting mechanism are simple and clear. Each model has all the necessary grooves and markings for fastenings, so even an inexperienced technician can handle the installation. The main differences lie in the types of mechanisms.

The frame consists of side and transverse crossbars, which are fastened along the inner perimeter with special support strips and metal corners using regular screws. The formed inner box allows you to fill the space between the floor and the sleeping place with any things.

In some cases, the assembly of a bed with a lifting mechanism is carried out using wedge-shaped connections: this type of fastening does not require tools. You need to insert one part into the other and lower it all the way. If the fastening does not seem secure enough, you can tighten the screws using a screwdriver or screwdriver and repeat the assembly.

The bed frame with lifting mechanism is attached to the body only bottom lifting mechanisms that are already installed on most models. To install, you just need to place the structure on the assembled box and tighten the screws. After this, the mechanisms are installed according to the specified scheme.

To ensure the reliability of the entire structure, a central leg is attached to the longitudinal bar of the frame. Then you can begin installing the slats. Installation is carried out from the head of the bed, usually on the left side. The slats are inserted into the sockets with the curved sides up. Installation may require the use of physical strength, however, do not try to bend the boards too much, otherwise you will break them.

Assembly diagram of a bed with a lifting mechanism

Each bed has the same box design, regardless of the features of the lifting mechanism or the presence of legs. Assembly will not be difficult, because each model comes with detailed instructions, which requires the following steps:

  • Box assembly;
  • Installation of legs (if required);
  • Installation of corner ties;
  • Mounting the lifting mechanism;
  • Installation of traverse;
  • Installation of mattress supports and frame.

The assembly diagram of a bed with a lifting mechanism has a minimum of differences and consists only in design features. For example, some models require the installation of legs, while others do not have a headboard. All these differences are not significant during assembly: you can use any video instructions from the Internet, where they will show you in detail all the stages of work.

After all the work done, check the operation of the mechanism by raising and lowering the frame several times. It should move smoothly along the guides and not get stuck. If the structure “floats” or moves jerkily, check how tightly you screwed the screws and, if necessary, repeat this assembly stage. After a successful check, place the mattress on the frame - and your sleeping area ready.

As you can see, assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands is quite simple. The main thing is to carry out all stages of the work in full accordance with the attached instructions.

Every parent wants their child to sleep on a comfortable and practical bed. After considering many options, we chose the Tred bed. In this review, I will show in detail how the bed is designed and give the procedure for assembling it, since the instructions from the manufacturer are superficial and buyers may have difficulties.

We liked this bed model for several reasons:

  • During the day, such a bed can serve as a sofa, and at night it can be used for sleeping. This does not require additional folding/unfolding of the bed.
  • The sofa bed has sides from the wall, so there is no need for a wall-mounted bedside rug.
  • There is a niche for storing bed (or other things).
  • The bed is equipped with a convenient and easy-to-use lifting mechanism.

The bed is sold unassembled. Each part is carefully packed in a separate box with a seal.

The bed is sold without a mattress; we purchased it separately. Our mattress is double-sided, one side is softer (medium hard), the other is harder.

As a summary - when choosing the type of lifting mechanism, take this information into account.
In Ukraine there are similar corner beds with gas lift found at the link https://www.promobud.ua/krovati-uglovie-na-zakaz-an267677.htm

After all the elements are screwed to the side parts, we assemble the backs and sides together.

If the holes do not match in height, then you can put something on it)

After the bed outline is assembled, install the jumper.

We tighten the nuts from the bottom. Open-end wrench (or head) No. 13.

To prevent the mattress from slipping when lifting, we install a mattress stopper. You need to hit it with something, for example, a rubber hammer, so that it sits tightly.

What really surprised me is that the fiberboard, two sheets that serve as the bottom (base) of the niche, are simply placed on the floor. There is not a word about this in the instructions, so at first we spent a long time looking for how to secure these sheets.

The final touch was to attach the fabric loop to the frame of the lifting mechanism. You can find the loop in a bag that is stapled to one of the bed parts.

It is attached simply by re-threading the loop.

While we fiddled with the first bed, the second one came together very quickly. Experience is a big deal.

We planned to install an openwork partition between the beds. But since the beds fit into the niche along the wall very tightly, we will think about what to do next. For now, the beds were placed with their headboards facing each other.

The mattress is raised quite high. I expected it to lie lower and the back to be higher.

The beds matched perfectly in color. Overall, we are satisfied.

Assembling the beds is half the job. Now you need to glue their legs with felt so that they don’t tear up the parquet. Also buy waterproof mattress covers, you never know what the children will spill) In addition, since the niche is almost the floor, it is advisable to purchase some kind of packaging for storing the bed.

We happily go to the trash can to take out the packaging, after which we go to Ikea.

From there we bring these fabric boxes for storing beds. Simply great! Review by .

Self-adhesive felt for legs. By the way, it holds surprisingly tightly, you can’t tear it off.

As well as mattress covers and a couple of sheets and pillowcases. A review of bed linen will be provided separately.
I wrote about Ikea mattress covers.

I decided to throw away the fiberboard sheets from the bottom completely, they will only poke around the floor and interfere with cleaning.
For now we will use the niches to store a spare bed.

The beds are complete) There are also bedspreads to match the walls, but they need to be trimmed, they are too wide.

Thank you for your attention!

The lifting mechanism on the bed is a design that allows you to lift the furniture frame in order to open access to the linen drawer. Since not all products are equipped with such a device, many furniture owners install it themselves. In order to do this at home, you will need to purchase a ready-made device and install it on the seat.

Before installing the lifting mechanism on the bed, you should decide what type it will be. This could be a gas elevator running on nitrogen-triggered shock absorbers, spring device or manual design. Regardless of the type of mechanism, it is recommended to first draw a drawing of it, make markings on the furniture, and only then start working.

How to install a lifting mechanism on a bed with your own hands?

The most popular and in demand among buyers is the gas elevator. Before installing it on the bed, you need to correctly determine the load that it can withstand. The product has a special marking indicating the force of its release. For bedroom furniture it is 1200 - 2500 Newton. When calculating, you need to take into account the dimensions and weight of the frame being lifted along with the mattress. 10N corresponds to 1 kilogram, i.e. installation of a lifting mechanism on a bed where the sleeping place weighs 70 kg must be carried out by two devices of 1800N each.

Installation of a gas elevator for a bed with a lifting mechanism is carried out as follows:

  1. If the bed is new, it has special seats for installing the device. To secure it, just unscrew the existing nuts and place the gas shock absorbers with the cylinder facing up. The entire procedure is carried out in the open position of the frame, and first the part that will be installed on the body is fixed, and then the part that is attached to the surface being lifted.
  2. If the furniture is made by hand, you can install the lifting mechanism on the bed according to the following instructions:
  • Mark 3 places for fastening on the box and drill holes.
  • Bottom part secure the mechanism with bolts.
  • Install the corner of the device to the frame of the structure.
  • Lower the base of the product inside the bed frame and mark 4 holes on each side of the frame so that they correspond to the bottom bar of the mechanism.
  • Open the frame and drill holes in it.
  • Secure the top bar of the mechanism with 4 screws so that there is sufficient clearance between the frame and the box for its operation.

After the installation of the lifting mechanism on the bed is completed, its operation should be checked and, if necessary, adjusted. During installation, it is important to consider that the gas lift mounting points must be securely held by the eye with a bolt. The installation must be done in such a way that the fittings can be operated freely, and movement up and down can be done without difficulty.

Which lifting mechanism to choose?

Installing a lifting mechanism on a bed is a procedure whose purpose is to ensure convenient use furniture for a long time. These factors largely depend on what type of device ensures the operation of the mechanism. The gas shock absorber is the most reliable, easy to operate and uncomplicated to install. Once you install such a device on your bed, you won’t have to change it for 8 to 10 years. It operates silently, smoothly and requires no human effort. A properly selected gas lift can withstand enormous loads.

The spring mechanism is considered less convenient for installation and use. Since twisted parts are subject to wear, the device will have to be replaced after 3 to 4 years. To replace it, you will need to dismantle the entire structure.

The most unpopular option is a manual lift mechanism. It does not require installation additional springs, parts and shock absorbers, but the frame is lifted only through human efforts. Despite its durability, it is recommended to install such a mechanism only when choosing the most budget option furniture.
