The Xiaomi smart kettle is a functional device and an excellent addition to the smart-home system. Its use allows you to independently determine desired temperature water, while the ability to maintain it for 12 hours is realized. The user can also set the device's turn-on time and perform remote control.
In order to take advantage of all the capabilities of the Xiaomi smart kettle, you need to integrate it into the system and set up a connection to your smartphone. We’ll tell you how to do this correctly using the example of Xiaomi Kettle, which is one of the company’s most popular and functional water heating devices.
How to connect a Xiaomi kettle
To operate the device, you need to download the Mi Home application, which is designed to control all components included in the smart home. It is available for free in the Play Store and can be installed without any problems. Synchronization with a smartphone is organized using Bluetooth technology, so after installing the program on the phone, we activate Bluetooth.
Next, to connect the Xiaomi kettle to the phone, perform the following steps:
If everything is done correctly, a circle will appear on the smartphone display, where the connection process will be displayed as a percentage.
If at some stage a failure occurs and a pop-up question appears, then it must be answered positively and then the process will promptly complete.
How to control the Xiaomi Mi Smart electric kettle
After adding a Xiaomi kettle to the application, the user will see ample opportunities on its management. All basic information is available on the main screen, the background which varies depending on temperature changes water (from blue to red).
The display contains the following information:
- The upper part displays the current water temperature;
- Just below there is a slider, when moving it you can adjust the time for maintaining the liquid temperature at a certain value. The interval varies from one to 12 hours;
- Under the slider you can directly select temperature parameters. By default, the available values are 90, 80 and 50 degrees, however, the user, by clicking on the Custom icon, can independently set required indicator(change steps are five degrees).
Opening the additional menu (More button) gives access to other temperature scenarios. One of them involves first bringing the water to a boil, then the device waits for it to cool and only then begins to maintain the set value. When using the second mode, the liquid will be heated to the specified parameters and then maintained.
The first option is preferable to use when the device is filled with raw water, and the second is suitable for boiled water.
Using the Xiaomi kettle app is a convenient tool that allows you to constantly monitor temperature values and, if necessary, remotely turn on/off the device.
Chinese technology can be extremely obstinate. "Smart" kettle from major manufacturer was no exception.
Moving to new apartment- always a very difficult process. During the first two weeks, everything that can be broken breaks. So for me, the first thing that happened was the kettle burned out.
A quick search in offline stores did not yield anything good - decent brands simply disappeared from the shelves. Why take another device for 2 months? And then the idea came to buy the recently announced kettle from Xiaomi. Moreover, it was already on the “wants” list.
Who would have known what adventures the desire to furnish an apartment with “smart” appliances from China would turn out to be. But there were no reviews yet - and the kettle headed to Russia.
It's time to learn Chinese
An anecdote about how a pessimist teaches Chinese and is already so bearded that the author cannot be found. Only now I began to understand that learning Chinese is more of a necessity than the whim of teachers and popularizers of Chinese culture.
This is all to say that the kettle has arrived beautiful packaging, with detailed instructions, many inscriptions on the case... Without a single English character! Everything is only in hieroglyphs. There are no mnemonic icons. 
By scientific poking it was possible to establish that near The button on the body (touch, by the way) is responsible for turning it on and heating it to a boil. What's next? Unknown. At the time of receiving the device, there was no information in Russian or English.
Based on the memory of the operation of other devices, Xiaomi launched an official application for smart home MiHome and tried to press second button. The kettle made a pleasant, quiet squeak, the LED blinked, and there was 0 effect.
There is not a word of English on the page for adding a new device. The MiKettle device is missing. (I know about Russification methods, setting the correct region did not help. The first game is torture for the fans.) What should I do?
Xiaomi as an interior element
Use a smart kettle as a regular one. I must admit, MiKettle performs its functions well and is ready to actively compete with other manufacturers. Even if they were produced by Tefal, Moulinex or Bosch. 
One-piece the metal flask warms up much faster than its analogues. The thick plastic in which it is placed allows you to protect not only appearance, but also the hands of the owner. After 3 months of use, it was not possible to feel the temperature of the kettle: it was barely warm even with boiling water inside.

You don’t have to worry about the traditional “head drop” in the form of the lid remaining in your hands when you open it the next time. 
It turns off on time - also a plus, a little steam. Without water it still turns on- this is the first puncture of this spy unit. Shutting down after a “dry” start occurs almost instantly, but personally I harbored a grudge. Now I constantly check for water before turning it on.
Do Xiaomi read Russian Internet resources?
After a month of using MiKettle in “just a kettle” mode, I needed to set up the kitchen MiAmplifier. At this moment it turned out that the applications built into MiHome for devices received English in the latest update!
The hand itself reached out to search for new devices... Click on the kettle (far button), agonizing wait, a dozen attempts to restart Bluetooth and repeated clicks - and here it is, the moment of truth. The app has found the kettle! Never before has the disappointment with Xiaomi devices been so great.
Works? And how! But not like that
When ordering the Xiaomi Mi Kettle, I imagined an almost intelligent kitchen unit that could do everything in the world - it boils water itself, pours tea, and sings Chinese songs. It turned out - it seemed.
All this is due to lack of information. Unfortunately, in reality the kettle is not at all as intelligent as we would like. And not even in the right way.
I have a router and many other Xiaomi branded gadgets. They all come together into one ecosystem controlled via Wi-Fi using a smartphone. As it turned out, the teapot refers to it only formally.
It still runs through the official MiHome application (iOS, Android). But - via Bluetooth. Thus, the communication range is only 5-7 meters in a real Russian apartment. Or even less if there is a strong source of electromagnetic fields between the smartphone and the kettle. For example, a refrigerator, microwave or stove.
Once Mi Kettle is linked to your Xiaomi account via MiHome, it becomes possible to remote control
. Actually, all functions, except boiling, work only through a smartphone.
And to be even more precise, there is only one function: maintaining a constant temperature in the kettle. From the main screen of the MiKettle page in MiHome, you can launch one of the preset profiles: 90, 70, 50 or 30 degrees. Here you can set a different temperature using the slider, after checking the manual control mode box.
You can also specify the heating principle in the settings. The kettle keeps getting colder all the time required temperature, or heats up to it at certain intervals.
“Mind” is not real!
The application works with the kettle only within the capabilities of the Bluetooth connection. As soon as it breaks, the smartphone moves away - the connection is lost, no control.
You can’t dream of being able to turn on the kettle as you drive up to your house. Switch kettle control to web interface is not possible using standard means. And happiness and hot tea were so close from the doorstep...
