Kettle xiaomi reviews. How to connect a Xiaomi kettle to the application. Impressions of use

Chinese technology can be extremely obstinate. "Smart" kettle from major manufacturer was no exception.

Moving to new apartment- always a very difficult process. During the first two weeks, everything that can be broken breaks. So for me, the first thing that happened was the kettle burned out.

A quick search in offline stores did not yield anything good - decent brands simply disappeared from the shelves. Why take another device for 2 months? And then the idea came to buy the recently announced kettle from Xiaomi. Moreover, it was already on the “wants” list.

Who would have known what adventures the desire to furnish an apartment with “smart” appliances from China would turn out to be. But there were no reviews yet - and the kettle headed to Russia.

It's time to learn Chinese

An anecdote about how a pessimist teaches Chinese and is already so bearded that the author cannot be found. Only now I began to understand that learning Chinese is more of a necessity than the whim of teachers and popularizers of Chinese culture.

This is all to say that the kettle has arrived beautiful packaging, with detailed instructions, many inscriptions on the case... Without a single English character! Everything is only in hieroglyphs. There are no mnemonic icons.

By scientific poking it was possible to establish that near The button on the body (touch, by the way) is responsible for turning it on and heating it to a boil. What's next? Unknown. At the time of receiving the device, there was no information in Russian or English.

Based on the memory of the operation of other devices, Xiaomi launched an official application for smart home MiHome and tried to press second button. The kettle made a pleasant, quiet squeak, the LED blinked, and there was 0 effect.

There is not a word of English on the page for adding a new device. The MiKettle device is missing. (I know about Russification methods, setting the correct region did not help. The first game is torture for the fans.) What should I do?

Xiaomi as an interior element

Use a smart kettle as a regular one. I must admit, MiKettle performs its functions well and is ready to actively compete with other manufacturers. Even if they were produced by Tefal, Moulinex or Bosch.

One-piece the metal flask warms up much faster than its analogues. The thick plastic in which it is placed allows you to protect not only appearance, but also the hands of the owner. After 3 months of use, it was not possible to feel the temperature of the kettle: it was barely warm even with boiling water inside.

Clever lid design prevents MiKettle from wear out fastenings I pressed the button and the lid opened slightly. If necessary, you can further finish it with your hands. You don’t have to worry about the traditional “head drop” in the form of the lid remaining in your hands when you open it the next time.

It turns off on time - also a plus, a little steam. Without water it still turns on- this is the first puncture of this spy unit. Shutting down after a “dry” start occurs almost instantly, but personally I harbored a grudge. Now I constantly check for water before turning it on.

Do Xiaomi read Russian Internet resources?

After a month of using MiKettle in “just a kettle” mode, I needed to set up the kitchen MiAmplifier. At this moment it turned out that the applications built into MiHome for devices in the latest update received English language!

The hand itself reached out to search for new devices... Click on the kettle (far button), agonizing wait, a dozen attempts to restart Bluetooth and repeated clicks - and here it is, the moment of truth. The app has found the kettle! Never before has the disappointment with Xiaomi devices been so great.

Works? And how! But not like that

When ordering the Xiaomi Mi Kettle, I imagined an almost intelligent kitchen unit that could do everything in the world - it boils water itself, pours tea, and sings Chinese songs. It turned out - it seemed.

All this is due to lack of information. Unfortunately, in reality the kettle is not at all as intelligent as we would like. And not even in the right way.

I have a router and many other Xiaomi branded gadgets. They all come together into one ecosystem controlled via Wi-Fi using a smartphone. As it turned out, the teapot refers to it only formally.

It still runs through the official MiHome application (iOS, Android). But - via Bluetooth. Thus, the communication range is only 5-7 meters in a real Russian apartment. Or even less if there is a strong source of electromagnetic fields between the smartphone and the kettle. For example, a refrigerator, microwave or stove.

Once Mi Kettle is linked to your Xiaomi account via MiHome, it becomes possible to remote control . Actually, all functions, except boiling, work only through a smartphone.

And to be even more precise, there is only one function: maintaining a constant temperature in the kettle. From the main screen of the MiKettle page in MiHome, you can launch one of the preset profiles: 90, 70, 50 or 30 degrees. Here you can set a different temperature using the slider, after checking the manual control mode box.

You can also specify the heating principle in the settings. The kettle keeps getting colder all the time required temperature, or heats up to it at certain intervals.

“Mind” is not real!

The application works with the kettle only within the capabilities of the Bluetooth connection. As soon as it breaks, the smartphone moves away - the connection is lost, no control.

You can’t dream of being able to turn on the kettle as you drive up to your house. Switch kettle control to web interface is not possible using standard means. And happiness and hot tea were so close from the doorstep...

And where is the mind here? Just another thermopot - cheap, but beautiful and a little mysterious. Although for

Smart kettle Xiaomi MiJia Kettle combines the functions of a thermopot - it not only boils water, but also maintains its temperature for a long period of time (from 1 to 12 hours). Moreover, the water temperature value can be set manually - the user has a choice in the range from 40 to 90°C in increments of 10°C.

Connecting to a smartphone

It is possible to set the desired degree of water temperature maintenance in the associated application ecosystem of the smart home Mi Home. But you can’t start the kettle from a smartphone remotely - boiling and keeping the water hot can only be done by pressing the touch control keys, which are hidden on the bend of the inside of the device’s handle.

Stylish appearance

The outer side of the model is made of white matte plastic, and the internal flask with a volume of about 1.5 liters is made of steel; accordingly, the kettle does not have any external water level sensor. Steel is also inner side covers. The white color of the case is slightly diluted by the black contact pad on the stand. In the inside of the last element there is a compartment for winding excess power cord.

Localization

Initially, the kettle was aimed at the Chinese market, so the inscriptions on its buttons are made in the form of hieroglyphs. Similar symbols appear from time to time in the smartphone application. But to a greater extent, English predominates in the interface of the program for controlling the kettle. Combined with intuitive icons, switching between the few application menu items will not be difficult.

Hi all!

In this review, I would like to talk about a kettle from Xiaomi with temperature control via Bluetooth, which fits very harmoniously into the interior of my kitchen. For anyone interested, please see cat.

The kettle was delivered by DPD courier service from Moscow in just 4 days. The box with the kettle was packed only in a branded DPD package. The kettle was not damaged during shipment, and the box remained intact and was not wrinkled at all.

Package

On front side The box shows the teapot itself. His image is also duplicated on the back of the box.

Xiaomi brand logos – Mi and Mijia – are printed on the top side of the box.

On one of the sides the characteristics of the device are indicated (capacity 1.5 l, net weight 1.24 kg, gross weight 1.58 kg, color - white, connection type with phone/tablet - Bluetooth, system requirements - Android 4.3 or higher, iOS 7.0 or higher) and the contacts of the manufacturer are presented.

Inside the box there is a kettle, an electric stand for it and an instruction manual. Everything is packaged in protective shipping foam.

Appearance

The kettle is made of matte plastic white, there is a small strip of metal near the lid. On the left side of the kettle there is the MIJIA logo:

WITH right side empty:

View from above:

The spout is quite narrow, but water flows out of it well. There is no scale filter.

The inside of the kettle is entirely made of stainless steel and the lid is inside too. Thus, only metal parts come into contact with water.

Inside there are marks indicating the amount of water poured - 0.5 l, 1 l, 1.5 l, which is undoubtedly very convenient.

A thermal sensor pin is visible at the bottom.

In the Xiaomi application, you can see the temperature of the water in the kettle and set the time and temperature for maintaining the water. Unfortunately, it is impossible to make the kettle boil water remotely.

There are three buttons on the kettle handle. The upper convex mechanical button opens the lid.

When pressed, the lid does not open completely (apparently so that hot steam does not splash if you accidentally open a kettle with just boiled water), but in general, the lid can be tilted almost 90 degrees for easy pouring of water. The stainless steel part of the lid is made with a bevel so that when the lid is opened, condensation flows back into the kettle and not onto the table.

Two touch buttons on the inside of the handle, when pressed, are illuminated by LEDs and audible sound signal. The button closest to the kettle is responsible for turning on the kettle, the farthest one is for turning on the temperature maintenance function.

There is also an attention sticker on the kettle))).

There is a Bluetooth logo on the handle:

At the bottom of the kettle there is an electrical Strix contact, and stickers with the characteristics of the device and a barcode with the serial number.

The kettle stand has holes for water to drain (if water is accidentally spilled).

The legs are rubberized, the cord is long enough and is wound into the base.

Initially, the fork on the teapot stand was of a Chinese design and was later replaced by a European one.

Application

In order to take advantage of the smart functions of the kettle, you need to download the Mi-Home application and search for the device in it, after which Mi-Home will download the kettle applet itself.

The applet's functionality is not rich and is essentially only needed to configure the kettle. At the very top the current water temperature is displayed.
Just below you can set the temperature maintenance time from 1 to 12 hours. Even lower, you can adjust the maintenance temperature, either manually in the range of 40-90 degrees in 5-degree increments, or using preset settings.
Even lower, you can choose how to maintain the temperature by bringing it to a boil or not.
And finally, at the very bottom, you can choose whether the kettle will maintain the temperature when returning to the base.
Unfortunately, you cannot turn the heating on or off. Another disadvantage is that every time you open the application, you need to reconnect to the kettle; this happens for about five seconds and is a little annoying.

Kettle at work

When you press any of the touch buttons, the kettle beeps once, and it also beeps three times when boiling or bringing the temperature to the set temperature. The squeak is quite quiet, and if there are no issues with boiling, then in the temperature maintenance mode it’s easy to miss the right moment.
The kettle brings water from 24 degrees to a boil in 5 minutes and 10 seconds, and due to its double walls it makes virtually no noise. The noise level is significantly less than from a plastic Bosch. The kettle also holds the temperature well; an hour after boiling, the water temperature was 76 degrees, and two hours later - 60 degrees. I think better results could have been achieved if the body was completely covered with plastic, without a rim at the top.

A minute after boiling, the body warmed up to an average of 45 degrees:

And after 5 minutes, the temperature did not rise to 51 degrees or more:

Wherein Maximum temperature(66 degrees) where the rim begins. The bezel itself is of course much hotter, but the thermal imager does not see this, since the bezel is polished to a mirror.

Despite the fact that the body warms up to 50 degrees, they will not get burned. When touched, a slight burning sensation is felt at first, but then quickly passes. Apparently due to the fact that between the bowl and the body there is air gap, and the plastic itself has a low heat capacity (the same Bosch burns much hotter). The kettle handle always remains absolutely cold.

The thermometer in the kettle is quite accurate:

It keeps the temperature in maintenance mode quite accurately, sometimes jumping a degree.

Conclusion

Pros:
- Looks stylish
- Low noise level
- Good thermal insulation
- Precisely maintains temperature

Minuses:
- Cannot be enabled via the app
- You need to reconnect to the kettle every time you start the application
- The water level is not visible (you need to open the kettle)
- Quiet speaker (it would be better if they made it loud, with volume adjustment)

In my opinion, the teapot turned out to be quite controversial. It is well made, looks stylish, holds the temperature well and makes little noise. But it’s hard to call him smart. It cannot be turned on remotely, it does not show the water level. In the end, I could at least send notifications to my phone when it boils and reaches the set temperature. Even to find out the water temperature you need to make too many body movements.

Thank you for your attention!

What could be more pleasant than coming home from a frosty street and immediately making yourself a mug of hot tea or coffee? At the same time, do not wait for the water to boil, since the kettle has done everything by the time you arrive. This is exactly the magical ability that a smart kettle from Xiaomi has.

Mi Smart Kettle is an elegant, minimalist model controlled via a smartphone ( wireless connection via Bluetooth 4.0 BLE). Smart kettle will become a real decoration of the kitchen and will bring additional convenience to your life. By the way, if right now you are wondering what to give to a loved one on New Year, then this is just a great option.

New opportunities

Why is the Mi Smart Kettle called “smart”? First of all, thanks to the possibility of remote control using the Xiaomi application Smart Home. This application can be downloaded for free from Google Play or App Store.

By installing the program on your smartphone, you can remotely control the functionality of your smart kettle. For example:

  • Boil or heat water to a certain level.
  • Select the option you need in quick settings: “tea”, “coffee”, “ baby food" - and then the kettle will automatically heat the water to the optimal temperature for this drink.
  • Maintain the desired temperature level for up to 12 hours.
  • Set up GRADUAL cooling or heating of water.

When the water begins to boil or reaches the required temperature, a corresponding notification will be sent to the user’s smartphone, and the kettle will also sound a sound signal. In addition, the gadget provides automatic shutdown when the water level is low, as well as short circuit protection.

Technical features

The Mi Smart Kettle is designed for a medium-sized family and allows you to boil up to 1.5 liters of water.

The power of the device is a respectable 1800 watts. To bring cold water It only takes 5 minutes to reach 100°C. During the boiling process, the device consumes up to 1946 W/h: for one-time boiling of 0.5 liters, 54 W will be required, and for 1.5 liters – 152 W.

I’m glad that after boiling, the outer surface of the kettle heats up to only 40 degrees: this is quite a comfortable level, allowing you to take the product with unprotected hands.

The fact is that the walls of the kettle have two-layer construction. Inside they are covered with 304 stainless steel, outside with high-quality modern plastic, and between these contours there is an air gap.

Other advantages of the two-layer construction:

  • When boiling Mi Smart Kettle makes minimal noise, especially in comparison with models that are made entirely of plastic.
  • The water in the kettle cools more slowly. 60 minutes after boiling, the water temperature is about 75°C, after another hour - 60°C.

Appearance

One of the most strengths Mi Smart Kettle models have a stylish ergonomic design, somewhat reminiscent of Apple gadgets (as is often the case with Xiaomi products). The pronounced minimalism of the product will look appropriate in both classic and modern interiors.

We have already mentioned above that the outer surface of the kettle is made of plastic. The material has a white matte color and is pleasant to the touch. At the top there is a glossy metal rim. A convenient handle is attached to the side of the body.

On its top there is a button to open the lid.

In the lower inner part of the handle there are 2 touch control keys: “Boiling/Heating” and “Maintain temperature level”. Thus, you can control the smart kettle not only from your smartphone, but also the old fashioned way.

The spout is designed to provide a fine, even spray without splashing. The design of the lid has also been thought out to the smallest detail.

Using the control button, it opens to 45 degrees (so that the user is not doused with hot steam); this angle can be increased by hand to 80 degrees. The inside has a slight slope that allows condensation to drain into the kettle and not onto the table. Cover diameter – 13 cm.

Another element of the gadget is the Strix water temperature sensor (made in Britain). The controller very accurately shows the current temperature of the water in the kettle and has a fairly long service life: up to 10 years. It's nice to deal with real British quality :)

Water quality

Another important advantage of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Kettle is excellent quality water. The attentive reader will remember that inner part The kettle is made on the basis of stainless steel. The smart kettle from Xiaomi uses very high-quality steel of the GB9684 standard. It is called “food grade” because it is used in the production of kitchen utensils. This steel is odorless, does not create scale or deposits, does not add foreign flavors to the water and is very easy to clean.

Together with the proprietary Mi Water Purifier filter, this guarantees the user excellent purity of drinking water.

Set

It remains to say a few words about the model’s equipment. The Mi Smart Kettle comes in regular cardboard box white.

Inside the box there is the kettle itself, a stand with a wire and an instruction manual. The stand has rubberized legs and a special hole for water drainage. The power cable is quite small - only 40 centimeters, the plug is European.

conclusions

Nice design, simple controls and quality materials make a smart kettle Mi Smart Kettle excellent option to create a smart home concept in your kitchen.

There are also some minor flaws. The most significant disadvantages include the fact that there was no place on the body of the kettle for a scale indicating the water level. Therefore, you will have to open the lid every time to check how much water is left inside. But in general, this can hardly be called a fatal omission that covers up all the advantages of the model.
