Tyvek soft application. Installation of Tyvek roofing films. Taking care of your health

Tyvek® films can be used when installing an attic in a cold attic. In roofing systems without sheathing, the film is laid in accordance with the diagram shown. In this case, it is necessary to create a space of at least 200 cm/m for ventilation and water drainage.

Application of Tyvek® film as a temporary roof covering

If extension is necessary construction work, adverse weather conditions and in other cases, Tyvek® film can be used as a temporary roof covering.

The Tyvek® Solid or Tyvek® Soft film is stretched tightly and laid on the rafters or sheathing. In places where there are overlaps, the film is secured with nails and sealed along the seam with adhesive tape. To protect against strong wind and moisture entering the nailing area, a seal should be used. At the junctions with dormer windows install Tyvek® insulation. At junctions with protruding roof structures (chimneys, ventilation pipes etc.) the edges of the material are tightly pulled together and connected with adhesive tape.

Water drainage below the gutter

To drain water below the gutter, Tyvek® is installed as shown in the diagrams. This design allows for timely detection of defects and damage to the roof that can lead to losses. When accumulated in gutter snow and ice, water drainage from the roof is ensured.

Drainage of water into the gutter

This system has some disadvantages. The ventilation gap is narrowed and is located below the roof level. Defects and damage to the roof are not detected immediately, but later. This can lead to more serious consequences that will require expensive repairs to fix.

Laying Tyvek® directly onto the insulation layer

Tyvek® film is laid on the rafters, on top of the thermal insulation material. It is tensioned so that it does not sag between the rafters. The material is tear-resistant. The width of the horizontal film overlaps should be 15-20 cm, depending on the angle of the roof. The smaller the angle of inclination, the wider the overlap should be. At the same time, it is convenient to navigate using the markings printed on Tyvek®. Typically, Westmet specialists secure the under-roofing film with transverse battens of the sheathing. If the roofing structure does not provide for laying insulation along the entire height of the rafters, then thermal insulation material secured directly under Tyvek®. In this case, the ventilation space will be located below the thermal insulation layer.

On roofs with thermal insulation up to the very top of the ridge, Tyvek® (Tyvek) is laid directly on the thermal insulation material. The ridge is covered with film and overlapped; the width of the overlap should be 20 cm.

In roofs where insulation is laid not up to the top of the ridge, but up to the level of the rafters, the structure can be moistened with water vapor. In these cases it applies open option skate. The layers of film separated from each other are laid as shown in the figure.

Hydro-wind protection Tyvek Soft(1.5 x 50m; 75m2; 5 kg) diffuse membrane, designed to protect roofing system from dust, moisture and condensation that appears due to temperature fluctuations. Due to the fact that the coating has a unique structure, it does not interfere with the normal release of steam outside the system. This makes it possible to increase the period of active use of the insulation and avoids creating additional ventilation gaps.

The Tyvek Soft diffusion membrane is actively used to protect insulation and other materials that are used in the process of forming a roofing system. By introducing this material into the design, you can increase the service life of wooden, metal and other elements. After all, in this case they do not come into contact with moisture or condensation.

The diffusion membrane is normally combined with various types insulation, roofing coverings. That is why it is used in the construction of roofs in various buildings, additional structures and underground premises.

Application: Material Tyvek Soft can be installed on either side. Installed on the surface of the insulation without gaps.

Insulated attic

Waterproofing and windproofing walls

  • Tyvek® material is applied directly to the layer of thermal insulation material.
  • a sheet of Tyvek® material is pulled along the ridge (ridge) of the roof with an overlap of 20 cm.
  • The overlap is secured with glue in those places where the material is exposed to wind.
  • A strip of Tyvek® material approximately 50 cm wide is secured to the installed counter battens. An overlap of 20 cm is provided on both sides with respect to the main part of the material.

Execution of a chimney using a Tyvek® diffusion membrane

  • Tyvek® material is laid around the chimney 5 cm above the roof. To protect against the penetration of atmospheric moisture, the material is sealed with adhesive tape.
  • The sections of material at the corners are sealed.
  • On the adjacent parts of the rafters, a valley is laid, which is made of film. It is designed to drain water that comes from the plane.
  • The places where the chimney vent meets the roof are sealed. For this, fasteners are used, as well as drainage gutters.

  • Since there is a large amount of moisture in the valley area, it is necessary to take certain measures to avoid its penetration.
  • A Tyvek® sheet approximately 50 cm wide is laid in a valley and securely fastened.
  • The canvases coming from the slopes are superimposed on the valley canvases with the same overlap. They are secured using nails or staples.
  • To avoid tearing of the material under the influence of moisture, overlaps in the valley must be sealed.
  • If the roof is located at a slight slope, as well as in valleys of considerable length, where the appearance of large quantity water, it is advisable to use two layers of Tyvek® material.

  • In the sector where the connection is made, the Tyvek® film sheet is applied to the window frame by at least 5 cm. The film is fixed.
  • The connection must be sealed so that atmospheric moisture does not penetrate into it.
  • Water from the surface above the window must be constantly drained onto the roof plane. For this purpose, flexible corner elements are installed.

Flaws:

Advantages:

Tyvek® film is glued to the sheathing in areas where the roof overhangs.

Sanitation with Tyvek® diffusion membrane

Additional insulation is provided on the inside.

Rehabilitation work begins with an insulating layer being placed between the rafters from the inside of the room.

Vapor barrier material Tyvek® CD 2 is applied to this layer and attached to inner surface rafters The connection must be tight.

The space between the rafters is filled heat-insulating material, after which it is covered with Tyvek® Supro film on top, supplied with adhesive tape.

Ridge and rib design using Tyvek® diffusion membrane

  • Tyvek® material is laid directly on the layer of thermal insulation material.
  • The canvas is pulled along the ridge with an overlap of 20 cm.
  • In places that are constantly exposed to wind loads, the overlap is secured with glue.
  • Counter slats are installed, over which a strip of material about 50 cm wide is fixed. An overlap of 20 cm relative to the main part of the material is provided on both sides.

Execution of a chimney using a diffusion membrane ®

  • Tyvek® material is laid around the chimney, it should be located approximately 5 cm above the roof. In order to provide protection from the penetration of atmospheric moisture, the material is sealed with adhesive tape.
  • The cuts at the corners are sealed.
  • In order to ensure the drainage of water coming from the plane, a valley is laid. It is made from film.
  • The joints between the chimney and the roof must be sealed. In this case, fastening elements are used, as well as drainage gutters.

Valley construction using Tyvek® diffusion membrane

  • In order to reliably protect the under-roof space from moisture that accumulates in the valley sector, it is necessary to take certain measures.
  • Tyvek® sheet, the width of which is at least 50 cm, is laid in the form of a valley and secured.
  • The canvases coming from the slopes are superimposed on the valley canvases with an equal overlap. The panels are fastened using nails or staples.
  • For roofs with a slight slope, as well as in places where there is a constant accumulation of large amounts of water (long valleys), a double layer of Tyvek® film is used.

Using a Tyvek® diffusion membrane when installing a roof window

Execution of eaves overhang using Tyvek® diffusion membrane

Air flow over the drain.

Flaws:

  • The ventilation cross-section decreases.
  • It is impossible to immediately recognize leaks.
Sheathing plane for air flow = drainage plane.

Advantages:

  • Constant ventilation of the roof when ice forms.

In the area of the roof overhang, Tyvek® material is glued to the sheathing.

Superdiffusion Tyvek roofing film

In order for the erected structure to last as long as possible, it is necessary to think about good waterproofing and vapor barrier film for the roof. The Tyvek membrane will protect the building from moisture and wind. The uniqueness of this material is in its structure. Long, thin polyethylene fibers are connected to each other at a special temperature, forming a durable super-diffusion mesh that breathes and does not allow moisture to enter the thermal insulation. These standards are exclusive and patented by the company Tyvek DuPont. Roofing film Tyvek has long proven itself on construction sites in Moscow and Russia.

The Tyvek waterproof membrane effectively protects roofing and wall structures. The membrane prevents air and water from entering from the outside, but allows evaporation to pass through the material. Thus, the material “breathes”. This property is perfect for use in attic or façade structures. Do not forget about the counter rail, which creates a ventilation gap between the insulation and the film. With ventilation space, the functions of the Tyvek membrane increase, although the quality and structure of the Tyvek film provides for overlapped operation with thermal insulation.

Another advantage of the Tyvek wind and moisture protection membrane is its long service life. It is perfectly preserved even under the influence sun rays, unlike polyester or cotton materials. The film does not absorb moisture and does not lose strength, even if precipitation is heavy. Also, the Tyvek membrane prevents the growth of mold and fungi, thereby protecting structures rafter system home from premature wear. Buying Tyvek film means looking far into the future.

The lightweight structure of the Tyvek film allows for fairly short time wrap the whole house. Installation is carried out using a stapler and Tyvek vapor-waterproofing tape. High thermal insulation properties porous membranes can reduce the cost of heating your home. Multifunctional Abundance diffusion membranes High strength Tyvek DuPont today makes it possible to build high-quality houses. Using each product for its intended purpose: wind protection on the walls, and hydro-vapor barrier on the roof. Membranes you can trust are Tyvek.
