MUPTV “Tungus” – modular fire extinguishing installations with finely sprayed water ( water fire extinguishing).

Modular water mist fire extinguishing installations!

Water mist module“Tungus” was developed and put into mass production by Istochnik Plus CJSC in several modifications. The creation of MUPTV "Tungus" became possible thanks to extensive experience in creating modular powder and gas fire extinguishing equipment.

Advantages of water mist modules

TRV modules"Tungus" contain 13.5, 18.5 or 30 l fire extinguishing agent. They reliably extinguish fires of classes A, B, E in a protected area of up to 30.2 sq.m. from a height of up to 9 meters. Test results can be viewed here.

Such high performance was achieved through the use of new generation cold gas sources in finely atomized water modules. It ensures, with minimal time variations, the inertia of the MUPTV, not exceeding 2-3 s from the moment the starting pulse is given until the start of the OTV output. The ICG also maintains a constant pressure in the module housing during the release of the fire extinguishing agent.

The nozzle of the expansion valve module is structurally designed in such a way that the finely atomized fire extinguishing agent flow, when distributed evenly, also has a high delivery rate to the fire source. This is very important for droplets to overcome convection currents from the fire source.

Areas of application of TRV modules

MUPTV "Tungus" are designed to protect garages, parking lots, shopping centers, offices, museums, etc. In addition, MUPTV can be equipped with electronic launch units, with which the product acquires a self-triggering function and is used as an autonomous modular fire extinguishing installation with finely sprayed water.

There are AUPT installations where powder and gas are used as waste water, which in some cases have advantages over water. Nevertheless, the most common stationary fire extinguishing systems are still water-based.

The explanation for this lies on the surface, or rather, it flows from every water tap - accessibility, low cost even with huge costs and volumes for localization/liquidation, there is practically unlimited or quite sufficient supply for these purposes in external networks and fire reservoirs (reservoirs).

It's simple:

  • After activation of thermal, flame detectors, and in some cases in industrial premises with high category for explosion and fire hazards, explosion-proof fire detectors, the APS device sends a control signal to turn on the locking mechanism of the starting cylinder of the AUP-TRV extinguishing module.
  • It is also possible to start the operation of the extinguishing system with sprayed water using , performing the function of a starting device for the installation (module) / AUP-TRV system.
  • The displacing gas enters the tank with OTV (purified water, often with special additives).
  • The resulting fire extinguishing mixture under pressure enters the distribution (supply) and then into distribution pipelines mounted under the ceiling of the protected room, to sprinklers that emit the mixture in the form of finely atomized water, often called water mist, which effectively suppresses the source of the fire.
  • Control/monitoring of the release of exhaust gas is carried out automatically, remotely, according to the readings of the mixture pressure indicator installed on the supply pipeline of the installation module. When the control value of the pressure in the waste water tank is exceeded, the safety valve (membrane) is activated.

Modular

According to paragraphs. 3.45, 3.47 SP 5.13130 a module is a single device that implements the functions of storing/supplying fire extinguishing agents after a trigger signal is given, and a modular extinguishing installation is several modules with common system fire detection and control/control of their launch.

In addition to the basic version - with a propellant gas cylinder, modular AUP-TRV, as well as TRV fire extinguishing modules, are of the injection type; when the OTV in the product is immediately under pressure and ready for use, which reduces the response inertia of an individual device and the AUPT system as a whole.

It is convenient to protect small premises and buildings with such equipment – modules, such as modular installations/fire extinguishing systems of TRV.

Automatic

Designed for surface local extinguishing of fires of class A, B, as well as electrical equipment with voltage up to 1 thousand V.

AUP-TRV, according to both domestic and foreign experts, is effective for protecting the following objects, individual important premises in them:

  • Residential buildings, apartments.
  • Kindergartens, nurseries.
  • Nursing homes, boarding schools.
  • Educational institutions.
  • Hospitals, hospitals.
  • Hotels, motels, sanatoriums, hostels.
  • Industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Cabins, engine rooms, corridors of ships/ships.

As can be seen from the list, these are mainly residential premises of small area and height with a low fire load. The priority of using finely sprayed water instead of sprinkler/drencher installations, and even more so powder and gas ones, is quite clear - this is to ensure the safety of people.

Although manufacturers advocate the widespread use of AUP-TRV for extinguishing commercial and office centers, underground parking lots, production/warehouse premises, cable tunnels, archives, museums and book depositories, even facilities in the oil and gas industrial sector (!), experts consider this to be nothing more than an advertising message to the owners of buildings/structures and management of enterprise organizations.

In most cases, traditional water installations do a good job of extinguishing such objects, and for extinguishing specific, especially important premises, powder and gas systems fire extinguishing; and the use of AUP-TRV there, as confirmed by calculations, is ineffective. To understand when and who needs systems, AUP-TRV modules are worth comparing the pros and cons of their acquisition and use.

Advantages and disadvantages

First of all, about the advantages:

  • Modules and AUP-TRV installations are ready-made, complete equipment that can be quickly installed on site, compared to the installation of, for example, a fire sprinkler system.
  • Due to the fact that the water mist sprayed by the sprinklers of the modules/installations is not dangerous for people’s breathing, it is possible to evacuate the protected premises during operation of the AUP-TRV.
  • Minimal damage to room contents compared to deluge/sprinkler and powder fire extinguishing systems.
  • The equipment of modular AUP-TRV requires minimal control/maintenance, similar to the maintenance of portable/mobile fire extinguishers, and planned Maintenance not unlike recharging fire extinguishers.

As usual, there were some drawbacks:

  • In contrast to the usual deluge, sprinkler water AUPT, the supply of fire extinguishing agent and displacing gas, therefore, the operating time of the expansion valve extinguishing module/installation is limited. It may not be enough to eliminate the fire; at best, it will be enough to localize it. Although there are installations with a compressor method of supplying the displacing agent, the complexity of the system will significantly affect the price of the products, and will also require expensive water treatment so that the small holes of the sprinklers are not clogged with mechanical impurities and mineral sediments.
  • The high cost of a set of equipment, which is what most people sin with domestic producers, not to mention foreign companies.
  • The need to install APS in protected areas, which is not necessary when choosing a sprinkler water system.

Conclusions: the owner or manager of the protected facility should make the choice of modules and fire extinguishing installations of TRVs based on design decisions or the conclusion of specialists in the field of fire safety, and not on advertising brochures from manufacturers who call such fire extinguishing systems universal.

MUPTV is designed to extinguish fires of classes A, B according to GOST 27331, electrical installations under voltage up to 1000 V and is used in automatic modular installations fire extinguishing with finely sprayed water for surface and local fire extinguishing on the surface in production, warehouse, administrative, archival premises, storage of museum valuables, exhibitions and other similar objects.

MUPTVs are not intended for extinguishing substances that react with water (alkali and alkaline earth metals), as well as substances whose combustion occurs without air access.

Modern fire extinguishing systems in large rooms represent complex system pipes and tanks that provide quick and reliable fire prevention. One of the most common fire extinguishing modules is the Garant TRV, which is very popular due to its high efficiency.

TRV fire extinguishing systems are units whose operating principle is based on fire extinguishing using water, the particle size of which is in the micron range. Water is supplied to special nozzles under high pressure, the nozzles spray it with a droplet size of no more than 200 microns, resulting in a colloidal mixture resembling fog. Due to the high flow rate, such a mixture fills the room very quickly, and moisture covers almost the entire surface area various elements located in the room. Due to this it is achieved high speed fire extinguishing with a very low volume of water consumed.

The installation itself is a tank from which several nozzles protrude; the volume of the tank may vary depending on the model. The TRV module can be seen in Figure 1.

Fire extinguishing procedure

Fine mist water expansion valve modules are highly efficient; the operating procedure includes the following steps:

  • Various sensors detect fire and smoke, after which a signal is sent to start the nozzles to spray water;
  • Immediately after receiving the signal, the gas generator of the fire extinguishing system is activated, emitting a large number of inert gas, the pressure in the tank increases by several atmospheres;
  • When the maximum pressure is reached in the tank, the duration of the process is equal to fractions of seconds, the safety membrane of the fire extinguishing module is destroyed and water under very high pressure begins to flow through the nozzle.

Most fire extinguishing systems are under constant overpressure, such as a fire extinguisher. However, during long-term storage there is a risk of depressurization, which entails the inoperability of this fire extinguishing method. Here, in the standard state of the module, that is, before activation during a fire, there is no pressure in the tank, which makes this unit safe and extremely efficient, since the risk of depressurization is not taken into account here. After the module is triggered, a recharge occurs, which consists of replacing the safety membranes and filling the tanks with water.

Advantages of using TRV modules

Modular expansion valve fire extinguishing has a large number of advantages, which include:

  • Due to the creation of aerosols, the surface area of water particles is very large, and water has a large heat capacity, due to which the particles take up all thermal energy And ambient temperature decreases sharply. When the temperature drops chemical reaction combustion in an oxygen atmosphere begins to slow down;
  • When extinguishing a fire, a large amount of water vapor is formed, which fills the entire volume of the room, seeps into every pore and crack;
  • Due to the micron size of water particles, it is sorbed on the surface of various objects, creating a thin film of water that prevents the further spread of fire;
  • These units have higher performance qualities due to the fact that in passive mode they do not maintain any constant excess pressure;
  • Low cost of fire extinguishing compared to traditional methods due to low water consumption and low cost of the devices themselves.

When choosing methods of provision fire safety You should pay attention to these modules, as they can help save a decent amount of money.

Fire extinguishing module TRV Hurricane

One of the most common fire extinguishing modules with finely sprayed water is the MUPTV TRV Hurricane. Hurricane modules are designed to extinguish primarily class A and partially class B fires; they are not suitable for extinguishing alkalis, alkali metals, some substances that can burn without the presence of oxygen, and so on. This unit currently has 4 varieties, which differ in size, tank volume and other parameters. The main features of this module include:

  • There are models with two nozzles, as shown in Figure 2, and with four nozzles;
  • The minimum duration of supply of finely sprayed water in these models is at least 3 seconds at a water flow rate of 1 to 6.5 kg/s;
  • The module volume varies from 14 to 17 liters depending on the selected model;
  • The trigger current of the gas generator on all models is approximately 0.12 A at a voltage of 2 V;
  • The working pressure in the housing is 1.2 MPa, which is approximately equal to 12 atm, and the maximum pressure at which the safety membrane ruptures is 1.6 MPa or 16 atm, enormous pressures;
  • The service life is at least 10 years when activated at least 5 times during the specified period;
  • The fire protection area of class A also varies from 19 to 35 square meters.

The areas of application of these models are huge; currently, hurricane fire extinguishing modules are mainly used in the following places:

  • The shops;
  • Libraries;
  • Parking;
  • Cinemas;
  • Banks and other institutions.

The list of places where this fire extinguishing method can be used is huge.

Water mist fire extinguishing installation Garant 30

The Garant 30 water mist fire extinguishing installation is designed to extinguish class A fires. This model suitable for installation in warehouses, in office premises, V shopping centers and so on. The main features of the Garant 30 module include:

  • The tank volume is 35 liters;
  • The installation height can vary from 2.5 to 4 meters, depending on the height of the ceilings of the room. There are two types of spray nozzles, which are selected depending on the height of placement;
  • The fire extinguishing area is 40 square meters;
  • The gas generator trigger current is 0.2 A;
  • The operating temperature of the unit is from 5 to 60 degrees Celsius.

Thus, the Garant 30 fire extinguishing module is more applicable for large areas due to its impressive size compared to Hurricane 13.

Fire extinguishing using TRV modules is very effective method fire fighting, characterized by high extinguishing efficiency at fairly low material costs.
