Refrigerator LG LG GR-389SQF – two-compartment refrigerator with one compressor. The freezer is located at the bottom of the cabinet. Both chambers are cooled by one evaporator located in the freezer compartment. Under the control panel cover is located the electronic unit regulating the operating modes of the refrigerator. The refrigerator does not require defrosting thanks to automatic system defrosts No Frost. IN refrigeration chamber The temperature regulator is located in the form of a mechanical air damper. Cooled air enters it from the freezer using a fan.

An application for an LG LG GR-389SQF refrigerator, purchased in the early 00s, was received with a complaint about a complete lack of cold.

When diagnosing the malfunction, it was discovered that the compressor motor turns on for a few seconds, after which the thermal protection is activated. Measuring the current with special clamps showed that it was overestimated by more than 10 times. This indicated a malfunction of the compressor electric motor due to a defect in the interturn short circuit of the stator windings. By agreement with the customer, it was decided to replace it with a new compressor from the Chinese manufacturer Jaxipera of appropriate capacity.

Replacing the compressor of the LG refrigerator.

Using a pipe cutter, the pipelines leading to the faulty compressor were cut. Special latches were removed from the supports on which the compressor is mounted. The starting and thermal relays were also removed.

Subsequently, the old motor was dismantled and a new one was installed in its place.

After cleaning the soldering areas and connecting the corresponding pipelines, the necessary soldering of the compressor pipes was carried out using a high-temperature torch. To evacuate and refuel the unit, a Schrader valve was soldered in. A new filter was also installed in place of the old filter.

A small amount of R-134a freon was charged into the system for testing. After checking the passage and absence of refrigerant leaks, the system was connected to a vacuum pump for evacuation. Having created the necessary vacuum, a refrigerant cylinder was connected to the Schrader valve to fill the required dose provided by the manufacturer. The refrigerator was connected to electrical network to check the cooling of the chambers. After some time, the temperature set inside the freezer electronic thermometer began to decline.

Producing refrigerator repair LG LG GR-389SQF, the compressor was replaced. At the time of inspection, no other defects were found.

Please read the following instructions before servicing your refrigerator.

  1. Check the insulation resistance of the device.
  2. Disconnect the device from the mains before service to prevent electric shock.
  3. Whenever testing is performed while the power is on, wear rubber gloves to avoid electric shock.
  4. When using any instrument, check that it is suitable for measuring current, voltage and power.
  5. Don't touch metal products in the freezer with wet hands. This may cause frostbite.
  6. Make sure that water does not get on electrical elements from mechanical parts.
  7. When checking the bottom section of the refrigerator with the top door open, move carefully to avoid hitting the top door.
  8. When it is necessary to tilt the appliance, remove any materials from the shelves and the shelves themselves, especially glass ones.
  9. When servicing the evaporator, wear cotton gloves. This is necessary to prevent injury from sharp edges.
  10. Carry out repairs to the refrigeration circuit at a specialized service center. Gas inside the circuit may pollute the environment.

Test the refrigerator by connecting it to the electrical outlet before refueling. It is necessary to establish the operability of the motor-compressor and immediately identify defects in the entire system. If defects are found, possible residual R134a refrigerant is removed by breaking the end of the tube in a narrow place. ( Rice. 1)

Replace the filter and any damaged components. Unsolder and remove a piece of the remaining tube and then solder the tube with the Hansen coupling in the same place. ( Rice. 2)

The soldering operation must be carried out with the valve open so that flux vapor can escape freely. The soldering must be without cavities between the two tubes; it must be taken into account that during the heating process the soldering point expands. The tube is equipped with a male Hansen coupling and is connected to the vacuum pump tube. ( Rice. 3)

Air begins to be pumped out of the system after the pump starts. The cooling system must be under vacuum until the vacuum pressure gauge reads (0 absolute, -1 atm., -760 mm Hg), in any case it is advisable for the pump to run for approximately 30 minutes. ( Rice. 3)

If a leak is detected, it is necessary to stop the vacuum pump and add a small amount of freon to the system; if a vacuum cannot be obtained (the pressure gauge cannot drop to -1 atmosphere), start refrigeration unit and find the leak using a leak detector. If the soldering is defective, when the valve is opened, the normal external pressure inside the circuit is not restored. This happens because solder residue is sucked into the tube and blocks it; the pressure must be equalized when the valve opens.

Once evacuation is complete, add the required number of grams of R134a to the refrigeration circuit. Remember that each system must be charged with the exact amount of R134a within a tolerance of ±5 grams. ( Rice. 4)

Before performing this operation (if the vacuum pump and charge cylinder are connected), make sure that the valve in front of the vacuum pump is closed to preserve the freon when added to the system. ( Rice. 5)

Also, check the graduated scale on the cylinder for the amount of R134a that will be added, for example, if we have 750 grams of Freon in the cylinder and need to add 165 grams to the circuit, this result will be achieved when the R-134a has dropped to 585 grams. monitoring this using an indicator. Do this after selecting the appropriate scale for the gas pressure, the gas pressure is indicated by the pressure gauge on the top of the column.

To allow R134a to enter the system, open the valve at the base of the cylinder connected to the charging tube. Freon cannot be added to the system all at once, because this can lead to blocking of the motor-compressor. After adding about 20-30 g, you must immediately close the feed.

The pressure rises and the compressor motor sucks in gas and the pressure drops again. The control valve is opened again until filling is reached. required quantity R134a. When the system is operating, the inlet pressure should be stabilized between 0.30 and 0.6 atmospheres.

1. COMPRESSOR

1) Description

The compressor sucks vapors from the evaporator at low temperature and pressure. Compresses and pumps under high pressure into the condenser where cooling and condensation occurs. A compressor is needed to circulate the refrigerant.

2) Composition

The compressor consists of a gas compression mechanism, a compressor motor, starting equipment and compressor protection. The starting device (PTC-Starter) and the overload protection relay (Protector (OLP)) are located outside the compressor. Since the compressor is made of precision components with 1/1000mm precision machining, it is sealed in production to be free from dust and moisture. When repairing your compressor, use caution.

3) Note!

(1) Be careful not to overvoltage or overcurrent the appliance.

(2) Protect the compressor from shocks

If you apply excessive force or impact (fall or careless handling), breakage and operation noise may occur.

(3) Use the appropriate electrical components designed for this compressor.

(4) Pay attention to compressor storage.

If the compressor gets wet in the rain and rust gets into the connector, the result may be poor performance and poor contact.

(5) Be careful not to allow dust, moisture or flux to enter the compressor when replacing. Dust, moisture, and solder residues inside the cylinders can cause noise when passing through the valves.

2. PTC-Starter (starting device)

1) Description of PTC-Starter

(1) PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) is a non-contact solid state trigger that uses ceramic material based on BaTiO 3 .

(2) The higher the temperature, the higher the resistance value becomes. These capabilities are used as a starting device for the engine.

2) PTC-Starter function

(1) The PTC is included with the hermetic compressor and is used for starting.

(2) The refrigerator compressor is a single-phase asynchronous motor. For normal operation single-phase asynchronous motor, when starting, the current must flow through the main and starting windings. After the engine accelerates, the current in the starting winding is turned off. PTC features make this possible. Thus, PTC is used as a motor starting device.

4) Engine restart and PTC cooling

(1) To restart after a power failure during normal engine operation, unplug the power cord for 5 min. to equalize pressure in the cooling cycle and PTC cooling.

(2) During normal operation of the engine compressor, PTC elements generate heat continuously. Thus, if the PTC does not cool for a while after the engine is turned off, it will not be able to operate again.

5) Interaction between PTC-Starter and OLP (protection)

(1) If the power is turned off while the compressor is running and the power is turned on before the PTC cools down (momentary shutdown within 2 minutes or reconnect the plug), the PTC is not cooled and the resistance is high. As a result, current cannot flow in the starting winding and the motor cannot start. In this case, OLP is triggered due to the increased current of the main coil.

(2) The OLP turns off the power for 3-5 minutes, the PTC cools down and the compressor motor returns to normal operation. If the OLP does not work, then the PTC does not cool, the engine compressor overheats, which causes a short circuit. Therefore, using a working OLP is mandatory.

6) Please pay attention to the use of PTC-Starter

(1) Be careful to avoid overvoltage and overcurrent.

(2) Protect your device from shocks

Do not use excessive force or hit.

(3) Store separately from any liquids.

If liquid such as gasoline or water gets into the PTC, it may break due to the deterioration of the insulation of the PTC materials.

(4) Do not repair the PTC.

Do not disassemble the PTC housing. If the outer PTC housing is damaged, the resistance changes and may cause poor starting and compressor damage.

(5) Use only original PTC.

3. OLP (OVERLOAD PROTECTION)

1) Description of OLP

(1) The OLP (Overload Protection) device is included with the compressor and protects the motor from short circuit current and excessive temperature rise in the compressor motor.

(2) When the compressor motor is overloaded, the bimetallic strip, when heated by the heater inside the OLP, opens the contacts and protects the motor by cutting off the current that exceeds the permissible current for the compressor motor.

2) OLP function

(1) The OLP is connected to the compressor circuits and is used to protect the compressor windings from overheating.

(2) Do not turn the OLP adjustment screw in any way.

Description of the components

Note: Option B is only used in Europe.

The secondary winding of the transformer is connected to electrical circuits that provide power to the control relays and actuators (12V direct current) and control module power supply (MICOM and IC, 5 VDC). The voltage in each part is as follows.

VA1 is an element for overvoltage and interference protection. When voltage greater than 385V is applied, a fuse (130°C cut-off, optional) disconnects the primary winding of the transformer so that the elements on the secondary side of the transformer are protected.

The clock generation circuit provides internal local elements to IC1 for transmitting and receiving information and for calculating the main operating time. Only use the original OSC 1 resonator. Because if replaced, the calculated time in IC1 will change or IC1 will not be able to work.

All internal elements The MICOM processor (IC1) returns to its original state after the MICOM power is temporarily turned off and power is initially applied. As a result, all functions operate in accordance with the original state. During the initial "LOW" power supply period, voltage is applied to the RESET, MICOM pin for a short fixed time. The RESET pin is supplied with 5V during startup operation.

4. OPERATION OF START AND SOUND SIGNAL CIRCUIT, DOOR OPEN CONTROL CIRCUIT.

*NOTE: If you are replacing a DOOR S/W-R type (door switch), you must refer to the part number description. Because this type of door switch S/WR is not for MICOM MODELS, and has reverse logic of contacts [A], [B] DOOR S/W-R.

Even if the LAMP-R (lamp) works normally ON/OFF when opening/closing, but the processor failed to detect through the wires [ A], [IN] DOOR-R open or closed state, DOOR S/W-R switch is faulty.

● Temperature compensation table adjusts the resistance value. (temperature difference compared to the current one)

For example: If the compensation resistance of the freezer is changed from 10 kΩ (current resistance) to 18 kΩ (replaced resistance), the temperature in the freezer increases by +2 °C.

● AMBIENT TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION.

● This circuit is designed to input the required temperature compensation value into the processor in order to adjust the freezer temperature, which is different in each model.

Today I want to talk about two wonderful examples of Korean household appliances. These are refrigerators from the top freezer, which, although not cheap, still deserve a choice. Next, I will explain why such a purchase would be a profitable investment.

The first time I came across cheap LG equipment was back in 1990; at that time in the USSR it was only available in Moscow. Today, the red logo of the delirium is familiar to absolutely everyone, even in the most remote corner of the country. Therefore, as the first feature, I would like to note the phenomenal attention of Koreans to Russian market. This has led to the development of a wide service network - you will definitely not have any problems with service, even if you live in Kamchatka. Plus, the manufacturer never tires of introducing innovative developments and technologies. I think this is partly why we still love Koreans, and I’m used to trusting their refrigerators, although the price is no longer cheap. In the 2000s, the company prefers not to dump.

Circle technical features I will characterize it as follows:

  • in all review models the linear one works successfully inverter compressor. You must understand that this is one of the key components of the refrigerator, on the quality of which the operation of the device depends 75%. So, the Koreans offer a modern, high-quality inverter. I rarely see such technologies in technology, cheaper than 100 rubles;
  • another feature is multi-threaded cooling. I note that the system works not only in the refrigerator, but also in the freezer compartment. This increases operational efficiency, including in terms of functions such as super freezing / super cooling, temperature differences between shelves;
  • and the last thing I would like to note in this section today is the presence of a freshness zone. Of course, this is a familiar function for many of us, but not only the optimal temperature regime, but also humidity. This is cool! In a separate box you can store not only fish and meat, but also vegetables and fruits, because smart engineers We created a freshness zone that was both dry and wet at the same time. All you have to do is choose a mode.

Advantages and disadvantages

I think your search for a refrigerator with a top freezer is not due to idle interest. Therefore, I want to talk about a number of advantages and disadvantages characteristic of such LG refrigerators.

The positive aspects are seen as follows:

  • a spacious freezer at eye level is the best option for those living in warm or hot climates. This makes it much more convenient to quickly cool drinks, get ice, etc. This is also facilitated by complete No Frost, since in hot and/or humid climates frost and ice forms faster. However, I’m not saying that the device cannot live in a Siberian’s apartment - it’s also a completely reasonable option!
  • second - excellent service (without embellishment) + long warranty. Koreans give as much as 10 years for an inverter;
  • high-quality cooling and freezing of products is, by the way, one of the fundamentals healthy eating. Food storage must be done correctly and the LG refrigerator will do this perfectly;
  • high energy efficiency - even a fairly large device will not cause a significant increase in electricity bills;
  • count on high quality electronics - you can’t take that away from the Koreans. Apparently, Kim Jong-un strictly punishes marriage. The quality of the components is also stable.

You can criticize household appliances from a Korean manufacturer, but even I, as an expert, don’t know why. The GR series does not cause any complaints, except perhaps for the high price.

How to choose an LG refrigerator?

I have prepared a unique selection algorithm that will allow you to purchase best model the refrigerator you need.

Refrigerator type

Models with a top freezer are perfect for a family of 2-3 people. But I don’t see any particular obstacles for bachelors to buy the device. However, I advise you to take your height into account when choosing the type of unit. You may not be comfortable handling the top freezer if you are too short.

Compressor type

The motor is the heart of the refrigerator, so when choosing a unit you should take special care. If we talk about review samples, the Koreans offer a linear inverter. With it you will get long-lasting freshness of products, low noise, and energy savings.

Energy efficiency class

Why is this so important? Firstly, electricity tariffs are constantly growing and there are no prerequisites for a reverse trend. Secondly, the refrigerator operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, so it simply must be energy efficient. Considering the fact that the presented models are quite large, class A+ is the most optimal solution for your choice.

Cooling and defrosting system

This point should be chosen taking into account what products you choose most often. I won’t rant for a long time, I’ll tell you about LG’s full automatic defrosting. This is a universal option, suitable for storing any provisions. The review models have added multi-flow airflow, which means you get a refrigerator in which the likelihood of ice formation is minimized. Everything happens in automatic mode– no manual manipulations.

Ease of use

To make the device truly convenient, pay attention to the list of basic and additional functions.

I will briefly describe the essence of what the brand offers you:

  • freshness zone– you get a compartment with optimal level temperature and humidity where fruits, meat, fish can be effectively preserved without freezing;
  • LED lightening– the Koreans have provided LED lighting in two chambers – the refrigerator and the freezer. This is convenient, but always affects the price;
  • folding shelf- This perfect solution for placing large products;
  • fast freezing/fast cooling– you can quickly cool and freeze the product, preserving its nutritional value to the maximum;
  • antibacterial filter– the manufacturer claims that the filter provides a healthier microclimate inside the chambers, with the absence of bacteria and other harmful substances. There is some truth in this, but it’s up to you to decide whether to pay for it or not.

LG GR-M802 HMHM

This silvery Korean giant immediately impresses with its dimensions. If you are looking for a two-compartment refrigerator for big family, I highly recommend paying attention to it. I would like to note right away that the manufacturer has provided energy efficiency class A+, so even such a large model will not eat up half of the family budget for paying electricity bills.

One interesting thing I can note is the upper location of the freezer compartment, which has already become unusual. I can’t judge how convenient or inconvenient this is, because as you know, some people like watermelon, and others like pork cartilage. However, I can give an objective assessment of all other parameters. Firstly, you can count on fast and high-quality freezing of food. Secondly, problems with product placement cannot arise in principle. Such a significant volume is successfully delimited by two shelves, plus there are two solid trays on the freezer door.

If we look at the refrigerator compartment, we see perfectly organized space. I'm not talking about shelves that can be adjusted in height, a compartment for storing vegetables and fruits - everything is consistently good here. This model has a freshness zone. It is in this box that you can store fish, meat, herbs, etc. without being frozen for several days. By the way, You can also easily place many items on the door.

The practical advantages of a refrigerator are as follows:

  • effective complete No Frost not only blocks the formation of ice and frost, but also does not contribute to the formation of condensation and mold in the refrigerator compartment;
  • an excellent cooling system will keep your food fresh longer, no matter where you place it;
  • I like interesting accommodation backlight. LED – lamps are located on back wall refrigeration compartment. I can say that this is The best decision, which I have seen over the past 5 years;
  • silence;
  • functionality + capacity;
  • I am especially pleased with the presence of reliable electronic control and an intelligent diagnostic system. If something suddenly breaks down in the refrigerator, which is unlikely, the breakdown will be fixed quickly and will not cause a lot of headaches.

There are no disadvantages!

Video presentation of the line of refrigerators in the video below:

LG GR-M802 HEHM

An excellent example of modern household appliances. The Koreans have developed a technical model with a smart inverter. Let me tell you why it's worth the money. First, I want to go back to the compressor. This is the most advanced linear inverter motor, providing low power consumption, minimal wear and noise. Plus, you can count on a long warranty - the Koreans are confident in their technology and give 10 years for inverters.

If we talk about the internal ergonomics, they are impressive. We see a spacious freezer compartment, divided into two parts glass shelf. It has an ice maker. Two solid shelves on the door significantly increase storage capabilities. I’m sure this freezer can be placed very conveniently various products, ranging from ice cream to fish. By the way, The freezer has LED lighting.

The refrigerator compartment is equally impressive. The peculiarity of the model is that The top plastic box is the freshness zone. It is intended for storing products such as chilled meat, fish, and anything fermented milk. By changing the mode, you can use the box as a wet box for storing fruits and vegetables. Only two shelves are height adjustable, but this does not detract from all the charms internal filling. Each shelf can be rearranged into three levels, that is, you can organize exactly the height that will be optimal for you. All the delights are completed by two spacious boxes for vegetables and fruits and pleasant LED lighting.

List practical advantages can be designated as follows:

  • reliable flame motor with intelligent system diagnostics (!);
  • full automatic defrosting;
  • excellent functionality - pay attention to the zero zone, the presence of a hygienic filter, an ice maker and additional options;
  • reliable and simple electronic control– even a first-grader can handle the assignment of four buttons. By the way, the panel can be locked;
  • high energy saving;
  • silence;
  • increased useful volume;
  • Excellent cooling and freezing even when fully loaded.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find any negative characteristics. Great unit!

conclusions

You can already understand that the devices from the Korean manufacturer are different high quality, functionality and can serve as an excellent choice. I sincerely recommend them for purchase, and final recommendations optionally presented below.

LG GR-M802 HMHM

As I said, this is an excellent example of modern home appliances. Choose it if you do not need a freshness zone and are looking for a device with maximum usable volume. You will get rid of manual defrosting, get excellent functionality and a complete absence of disadvantages. By the way, I have seen equally high-quality samples in Sharp top-freezer refrigerators.

LG GR-M802 HEHM

The second review sample is more technologically advanced and that's great. By paying a little more, you will get a unit with an ice maker and a freshness zone. If this meets your requirements for the way you store food, feel free to choose this refrigerator.
