Installation technology of flexible shingles tiles. Laying flexible tiles TechnoNIKOL shinglas. Installation of Shinglas flexible tiles

In the article we will deal with the technology of laying soft roofing “Shinglas”. First, let's talk about what this roofing material is and on what basis it is made. And then we will move directly to the technology of installation on the roof.

What is the soft tile "Shingals"

This material is presented on Russian market from the manufacturer - TechnoNIKOL Corporation. Production was established jointly with the international company Chova. This material consists of small shingles rectangular shape. It is made from fiberglass, which is coated on both sides with improved bitumen, and on the upper front side with stone granulate. The latter is not only decorative layer, but also a kind of protection from harmful effects sun rays.

In addition, basalt coating copes well with mechanical loads, it does not fade, so the Shinglas roof retains its original color throughout its entire operation. In addition, the front surface has a rough plane, which means there is no avalanche-like soft tiles Shinglas never happens.

The reverse side of the bitumen panels is sprinkled with sand so that the sheets do not stick together during storage in bundles. Here the treatment was carried out with a sticky mixture, which includes bitumen. This mixture is an additional fastener. With its help, roof tiles are sintered under the influence of positive temperatures and the sun. The bitumen mixture is covered with a silicone film, which is removed before installation.

It should be noted that the Technonikol company today offers Shinglas tiles in 14 collections and 70 shades. This huge variety makes it possible to decorate the roofs of houses to suit any, even the most demanding taste. At the same time, the manufacturer gives a 50-60 year guarantee for its products, which also captivates many consumers.

Let us add that installation of Shinglas is a fairly simple process. The main thing is to strictly follow the rules for laying the material, which are recommended by the manufacturer himself.

Technology for laying Shinglas bitumen shingles

Let's start with the fact that installation bitumen shingles They are produced only for continuous sheathing. These can be boards, moisture-resistant plywood (FSF) or OSB-3 boards (moisture-resistant). The boards are laid on the rafter system with a small gap of 1 cm. The same applies to panel materials, only they are installed in a checkerboard pattern, that is, with the sheets of one row offset in relation to the adjacent ones by half the slab.

Please note that the base for bitumen shingles must not only be strong, but also very smooth. The permissible error in height difference is up to 2 mm, no more. This is a strict parameter on which the quality of the final result depends.

Now sequentially for all operations performed.

Installation of drip

The purpose of this element is to prevent precipitation in the form of water from entering under the roof structure. The shape is a square, made of galvanized sheet steel, painted on both sides.

The drip cap is laid on the edge of the roof overhang and hammered into the sheathing roofing nails in a checkerboard pattern every 15 cm.

The standard length of the drip is 2 m. Therefore, these strips are laid overlapping relative to each other with an offset of at least 3 cm.

Laying underlay carpet

This roll material is based on bitumen-polymer binder. Today TechnoNIKOL Corporation offers four types of this coating. At the same time, he divides the species into two groups:

    Self-adhesive lining materials.

    WITH mechanical fixation.

The first group includes:

    ANDEREP ULTRA, which is based on polyester, coated with a bitumen-polymer mixture and sand on the front side;

    ANDEREP BARRIER– a baseless material, in the top layer of which a thick reinforcing film is inserted.

The second group includes:

    ANDEREP PROF with a polyester base and a polypropylene top coating;

    ANDEREP GL– baseless material with double-sided sand coating.

It should be noted that the lining material is laid first in areas of the valley and eaves overhangs. Installation starts from the first. That is, a roll 1 m wide is rolled out so that it covers two adjacent roof slopes of 50 cm on each side. The protective polymer film is immediately removed from the laid strip.

On our website you can find contacts construction companies that offer roof design and repair services. You can communicate directly with representatives by visiting the “Low-Rise Country” exhibition of houses.

Then the lining and overhangs are covered. The strips are simply laid out parallel to the eaves so that they cover 40 cm of the eaves overhang and 60 cm of the roof. If the cornice is more than 40 cm, then you will have to lay not one strip of material, but two: one above the other in the direction from the overhang to the ridge. In this case, the strips are laid with an overlap of 10 cm. The horizontally laid strips must also cover part of the material laid on the valley. Here the overlap is 15 cm.

Regardless of whether the material chosen for the roof covering is self-adhesive or with mechanical fixation, it is recommended to secure the laid strips with galvanized roofing nails with a fastening pitch of 20-25 cm along the entire perimeter.

Now the remaining planes of the sheathing open from the lining carpet are covered with it. Simply lay the strips overlapping each other, coating the edges with Fixer bitumen mastic and punching them with nails.

Installation of gable strips

This element of the roofing structure is necessary in order to protect the continuous gable planes of the roof from rain and wind. Installation is carried out in exactly the same way as installing a drip.

Marking the slope

In fact, this stage of the Shinglas soft roof installation technology is important, although many craftsmen do not use it. It makes it easier to install shingles exactly along the intended lines. Therefore, the markings are made vertically every 70 cm - this is the distance where five rows can be placed at once roofing material. And horizontally – 1 m, this is the length of Shinglas bitumen tiles.

Laying the valley carpet

This is a rolled material based on polyester, treated on both sides with a bitumen-polymer composition. It is laid on valleys to increase the waterproofing layer, because valleys are subject to loads from precipitation more than other areas of the roof structure.

The valley carpet in the form of a strip is laid so that its edges cover the edges of the laid lining material. Fastenings are made with bitumen mastic and nails. First, mastic is applied along the edges of the lining material in a strip of 10 cm. Then the valley carpet is laid out and additionally fastened around the perimeter with roofing nails in increments of 20-25 cm. In this case, the distance from the edge of the laid strip to the fastening point is 3 cm.

This is a strip of the same material as Shinglas bitumen shingles, the same length and width. Only there are no shingles in its design. If this soft blood element is not available, then you can use ordinary tiles, from which the shingles are cut off.

The installation of the starting strip must begin from the middle of the overhang, laying the elements in different directions towards the gables of the roofing structure. The material itself is self-adhesive, so you need to remove the protective film from the back side and lay the strip on the roof, pressing it to the surface. Additionally, it is attached to the sheathing with roofing nails along the perimeter in 15 cm increments.

Please note that the starting strip is laid with a distance of 1.5 cm from the edge of the cornice. If ordinary tiles are used as the starting strip, then it is laid on bitumen mastic, which is first applied to the underlay carpet.

Installation of ordinary tiles

Laying bitumen shingles should begin from any edge of the roof. The shingle is laid so that its lower edges recede from bottom edge starting strip by 1.5-2 cm. The material itself is attached to the roof slope with four nails. The nails are driven in at a distance of 2.5 cm from the edges of the cut shingles. This is done so that the tiles next row covered the caps of the fasteners.

I would like to add that if the angle of inclination of the roof slopes exceeds 45°, then it is recommended to drive not 4, but 6 nails into the laid tiles.

Formation of the valley and gables

Everything is quite simple here. It is necessary to leave a gutter from the valley carpet with a width of 10 cm. That is, 5 cm are laid from the axis of the valley in both directions. It is up to this parameter that the Shinglas bitumen tiles will be laid.

    Therefore, along the gutter line bitumen mastic is applied 10 cm wide.

    Panels are being laid bitumen material, the edges of which are pressed against the mastic strip.

    The edges are pierced nails.

They do the same with gables. That is, they apply mastic, lay tiles, which are pierced with nails. Please note that the nail heads must remain under the roofing material being laid on top of what has already been laid.

Ridge formation

The technology of laying Shinglas on the roof is not just a covering, it is full formation the rest roofing elements, where the ridge plays an important function. It is through it that the roof ventilation will be carried out. Therefore, before finishing the ridge part of the roof, a special element is installed, which is also produced by the Technonikol company. It forms the ridge of the roof and leaves holes for ventilation.

The ridge element is attached to the sheathing, and then covered with a starting strip, which is simply nailed down. The starting strip is laid not along the ventilation element, but across it, having first cut the strip into several parts, usually into three.

In principle, that’s all regarding the installation of Shinglas bitumen shingles.

Video description

The video shows and describes the sequence of operations for laying Shinglas bitumen shingles:

As mentioned above, Shinglas soft roofing consists of several collections. So there are some differences in the installation process bitumen coating different models.

    If the model is being laid “ Jazz", then the displacement of shingles of one row relative to another should be carried out in the range from 15 to 85 cm. That is, there is no specific parameter.

    Trio, Tango, Sonata shifted by half the width of the tile petal.

    Model Chord laid so that its right petal overlaps the joints of two adjacent tiles of the lower row.

Conclusion on the topic

Shinglas roof covering is a real opportunity to solve the problem of obtaining a high-quality roofing structure that will last at least half a century for little money. Of course, if the soft roof itself is laid according to the manufacturer’s rules. But, as the information from the article shows, this is not the most difficult process, which does not require special tools, equipment and materials. In addition, the Technonikol company offers full set own production. That is, tiles, roofing coverings, mastic, ventilation elements, as well as drip edges and gable strips.

  • Arrangement of valley, ribs, ridge, domed roofs, junctions and penetrations

A roofing system covered with Shinglas bitumen shingles must consist of a continuous vapor barrier on the room side, thermal insulation of the required thickness, windproof film. The under-roof space must be ventilated. Without ventilation, moist fumes will accumulate in and above the insulation layer.

Color code on packages flexible tiles check before installation, it must be the same. With the same code, there may be a slight discrepancy in shades. To make it invisible, material from several different packages is mixed. It is recommended to lay it in diagonal stripes.

If the air temperature is below +5°C, laying the material is possible, but with some restrictions. The packages are kept in a warm room. They are lifted onto the roof in several pieces just before installation. It is recommended to preheat the adhesive strips. A hair dryer is used for this.

Shingles are trimmed on a rigid backing (sheet of plywood, board). Cutting should not be performed on already laid bitumen shingles (there is a risk of damage to them).

Packages with material are stored away from heat sources and not under direct sunlight. Heat is avoided so that the adhesive strips do not stick to the siliconized film (it should be easy to remove).

When storing packages on pallets, they are not stacked (each pallet is placed separately).

To ensure that the sheets of material are well separated from each other, each package is slightly bent and shaken before opening.

It is not recommended to walk on an already installed coating if installation is carried out in sunny or humid, hot or cold weather(marks or stains may remain). Westmet engineers recommend leaving manholes to access the desired area on the roof.

Materials

Shinglas bituminous shingles. Used as a base coat. There are more than 70 models in the catalog. Install according to the instructions below.

. They are used for additional waterproofing and leveling of continuous flooring, increasing the service life of the roofing system. The line includes:

  • self-adhesive underlay carpets of the ANDEREP ULTRA series. They are made of polyester, bitumen, the front surface is with a protective layer of fine-grained mineral powder. Sprinkling increases the strength of the underlay carpet. The main layer is SBS-modified bitumen, which impregnates the polyester base (used as a reinforcing layer for greater strength). The inner surface is adhesive, with a siliconized film, which is removed before installation;
  • carpets with mechanical fastening. Universal carpet - ANDEREP PROF. Lightweight, base - polyester, main layer - bitumen impregnation, Facial and inner surface- made of polypropylene, durable, non-slip. Can serve as a temporary roof for up to 6 months. ANDEREP PROF PLUS: the bitumen-impregnated polyester base is protected by a layer of Spunbond (non-woven polypropylene) on the outside and inside, with an additional self-adhesive edge (covered with film before installation). ANDEREP GL, GL PLUS: fiberglass base impregnated with SBS-modified bitumen. The surface is protected by a layer of fine-grained coating. On the surface there are thermoactive strips that stick together during operation, increasing the reliability of waterproofing. In the GL PLUS version, the edges are additionally protected by an adhesive layer.

When laying carpets, bitumen mastic is not used.

Valley carpet. Used in valleys and junction areas. Supplied in rolls. The base is made of polyester, reinforced with a layer of SBS-modified bitumen. The outer surface is a layer of colored basalt granules. The valley carpet is matched to the color of the roof and is used in areas where the risk of leaks is increased.

Planks: junctions, end, cornice, pediment. Used as additional elements. The base is galvanized steel. Coating - polyester or granulate (protects against corrosion). When installing the roof, planks of the same color as the roofing are used.

Fasteners TECHNONICOL supplies bitumen shingles with roofing nails 45x3.5 or 30x3.5. Made of galvanized steel, they have a ring knurl (they are held in the flooring five times more reliably). The diameter of the cap is increased. After installation, the fastener caps are hidden by the tabs of the overlying shingles.

Mastic. Used for gluing bituminous shingles to the underlayment, at junction areas, and for laying valley carpets. TECHNONICOL No. 23 FIXER contains bitumen, polymers, solvents, fillers. It is a cold mastic (does not require heating before use).

. To organize the removal of wet fumes from the under-roof space, aeroelements, aerators, TECHNONICOL valves are used, and a sufficient number of vents are provided.

Auxiliary materials can be replaced with products from third-party manufacturers, provided they have similar characteristics.

Terminology

Consumption rates for flexible roofing

The useful coverage area is indicated on each package of material. For most cutting forms and collections it is 3 m 2 /pack. Exceptions:

Mastic consumption

Varies for different nodes and sections:

  • joints of lining carpet fabrics - 100 g/linear. m (mastic is used if the lining carpet does not have self-adhesive strips along the edges);
  • valley carpet - 400 g/linear. m (the edges are glued around the perimeter);
  • abutments - 750 g/linear. m (the edges are glued along the junction).

Observing the consumption rate, ensure that the mastic is applied thin layer(up to 1 mm). It is impossible to increase the thickness of the layer so that swelling does not form in areas of overlap.

Among the wide variety of covering materials, one of the most popular today is Shinglas roofing - bituminous shingles, presented in Russia by the trademark of the TechnoNIKOL corporation of the same name. It is valued for its versatility, functionality, practicality, economy and beauty. Latest developments, the best raw materials and invaluable experience of experts are embodied in Shinglas soft roofing, which can decorate any structure and withstand the strength test in any climatic conditions.

Roofing materials "Shinglas": description and characteristics

The history of soft tiles goes back more than a century. Its creators are considered to be Americans - immigrants from the Old World, who found a replacement for their beloved and familiar, but imperfect and fragile clay tiles, which had crowned castles, fortresses, residences, temples and cathedrals in Europe for centuries.

The residence of the Grand Masters of the Teutonic Order in Malbork (Poland) looks mysterious and fascinating under the tiled roof

Initially these were impregnated with bitumen roll materials, vaguely reminiscent of modern roofing felt. The transition to cutting sheets into separate fragments (shingles) began in 1903 and at first was limited to only two shapes - rectangular and hexagonal. But by the 30s of the 20th century, the cardboard base was replaced with fiberglass, and new cutting forms appeared - rhombus, dragon tooth, beaver tail and three-petal model. This ensured the enormous popularity of bituminous shingles among private homeowners, which continues unabated to this day. Shinglas roofing has become an attractive and affordable covering, which has been taken care of by professionals and time, and its owners can now only enjoy world achievements in the production of materials for comfortable living.

The definition of soft roofing "Shinglas" includes a large family of roofing materials that differ in purpose, composition and method of use:

  1. Construction chemicals:
    • antiseptics based on modern biocides that provide protection wooden elements roofs from rot, house fungus, mold, woodworms;
    • fire-bioprotective impregnations with a fire protection period of about 7 years and a bioprotection period of more than 20 years, which transform wood into the category of low-combustible materials;
    • mastics for gluing joints of lining material, seams of soft tiles, junctions and valley carpet.
  2. Ventilation and drainage systems- plastic penetrations, aerators, valves, seals and ventilation outlets.

    Point aerators for soft roofs, which prevent the formation of condensation and wetting of the insulation, are usually located near the ridge

  3. Underlay and valley carpets are high-strength and reliable rolled products with a base made of polyester or polyester, as well as with a sand or basalt top layer. They are distinguished by their low weight, which together with non-slip coating ensures safe installation.

    Anderep underlay carpets for soft roofing "Shinglas" can also be used on copper roofs, natural tiles and slate

  4. Rolled products and sealing tapes - vapor barrier and waterproof and windproof films, butyl rubber connecting tapes And diffusion membranes with a working layer of polypropylene film, which, due to its exceptional qualities, ensures the diffusion of water vapor, but prevents the passage of water. Particularly worth highlighting in this group is the single-layer Shinglas roll tile, which can rightfully be considered a high-quality, economy-class roofing product.

Soft tiles "Shinglas"

Shinglas tiles are single-layer or multi-layer shingles with figured cutouts along the outer edge based on fiberglass, which perfectly holds its shape and, in addition, does not deform under the influence of loads acting on the roof. The fiberglass core is coated on both sides with modified or oxidized bitumen, and then the top of the product is sprinkled with mineral chips, giving roofing decking volume, color and protecting it from ultraviolet radiation. Self-adhesive bitumen is applied to the shingles on the reverse side to secure them to continuous sheathing and a protective polypropylene film, which is removed before laying the tile fragments.

Flexible shingles "Shinglas" are based on a reinforcing layer (fiberglass), treated on both sides with special compounds, due to which the shingles hold their shape well and do not deform under mechanical loads

Soft tiles vary:

  • by the number of layers - single-layer, two-layer and three-layer tiles. The more layers, the greater the strength of the products, water resistance, guarantee period service and, of course, price;

    Double-layer shingles "Shinglas" series "Rancho" of blue color organically complements the castle style of the house, and the textured relief gives the roof solidity and individuality

  • according to the cutting shape;

    Shinglas tiles are cut into strips 1 m long, having petals of various shapes

  • according to the color scheme - plain shingles, with shimmer or darkening.

    Flexible tiles "Shinglas" can be plain, darkened or with a tint, depending on the type of crumbs with which they are sprinkled upper layer

Despite the differences in characteristics, all Shinglas bitumen shingles have the following advantages:

Finished roofing systems Shinglas

Shinglas roofing systems are a reasonable solution for roofing, thought out to the smallest detail by specialists. They conveniently combine conventional production technologies and innovative materials that comply with the national quality certificate ISO 9001:2015, which is the key to their durability. Shinglas systems have been developed for both cold (attic) and mansard roofs.

"TN-Shinglas Attic"

The Attic system is in great demand in private housing construction during the construction of warm mansard roof. Her hallmark is the use of a superdiffusion membrane over thermal insulation material, which helps to instantly remove wet vapors from the insulation, thus preventing heat loss. The structure of the Shinglas Attic system is as follows:

Advantages finished system"Shinglas Attic":

  • ease of installation;
  • possibility of use on a variety of roofing configurations;
  • a large selection of colors and shades, as well as cutting shapes for the top flooring shingles;
  • protection from noise and ensuring an excellent microclimate in the attic.

"TN-Shinglas Attic PIR"

A special feature of the finished Attic PIR system is the Logicpir rigid fire-resistant insulation based on polyisocyanurate foam (PIR), laid along the edge of the rafters. The heat insulator used makes it possible to abandon the laying of a superdiffusion membrane, since it contains Logicpir slabs aluminium foil creates a durable waterproof layer that reliably protects the roof structure from moisture. IN roofing pie"TN-Shinglas Attic PIR" includes the following components:

Video: continuous flooring under Shinglas

Advantages of installing the finished Shinglas Attic PIR system:

  • the low weight of the structure does not place additional load on the load-bearing elements of the roof;
  • the thermal insulation layer forms a closed contour, not interrupted by the rafter legs;
  • there are no cold bridges when installing insulation, therefore, heat saving mode is observed;
  • no windproofing or waterproofing materials are required.

"TN-Shinglas Classic"

Unheated attic - simple and inexpensive option roofing arrangement, which is most often chosen by summer residents, as well as homeowners who do not need additional living space or want to save on construction. And although the purpose of a cold attic is very limited, it nevertheless serves to protect living spaces from cold and dampness. And this is already a lot.

The roofing pie of a cold attic looks like this:

Advantages of the system for an unheated attic:

  • convenience, simplicity and safety of installation;
  • possibility of use on roofing structures of any shape, even the most complex ones;
  • complete sealing of the roof deck.

Installation of soft roofing "Shinglas"

The finished roofing systems described above most fully demonstrate the composition of the roofing pie for soft tile coverings. If desired, you can use other insulating and insulating materials, but the order of installation should remain the same:

There are no restrictions on the installation of Shinglas soft roofing. However, installation work must be carried out in accordance with SP 17.13330.2011 with additions and changes in connection with the appearance of new building materials and SNiP 2.01.07–85 as amended in 2008 for calculating snow and wind loads. In addition, it is advisable to listen to the recommendations of Shinglas manufacturers:

  1. To create better thermal protection for the house and durability of the enclosing structures, it is necessary to include a continuous vapor barrier in the soft roof, ensure good ventilation and lay insulation of the optimal thickness for a particular area.
  2. It is not recommended to use products with different color codes on the same roof. To minimize color disharmony, it is advisable to mix 5-7 packs of asphalt shingles in random order before installation and install Shinglas in diagonal stripes.
  3. If roofing work is carried out at street temperatures below +5 ºC, then Shinglas packages should be taken from a warm storage to produce no more than 5-7 packs and the self-adhesive strip on the shingles should be heated with a heat hairdryer.
  4. To prevent violation of the solidity of the soft roof, you need to cut the materials on a specially placed board.
  5. Avoid exposing Shinglas shingles to scorching sun rays to prevent untimely sintering adhesive composition with silicone protective film.
  6. In clear, hot or cold, damp weather, it is recommended to use special manholes to move around the roof. This will prevent stains from forming on soft covering and the appearance of shoe marks.
  7. To freely separate the shingles from each other, you need to slightly bend and shake the package before opening.

Calculation of material for soft roofing "Shinglas"

Before the beginning installation work and purchasing materials, you need to calculate the roof using an online calculator (often it can be found on the official website of the bitumen shingle manufacturer) or manually via geometric formulas area of a square, triangle, trapezoid, etc., taking into account overlaps, waste and defects. If a house project was initially made, then all the necessary initial data for the calculation are contained in the working documentation. Otherwise, after erecting the rafter system and checking the geometry of the slopes, you will have to draw a sketch of the roof on paper and take measurements on it.

With absence project documentation To calculate roofing materials, a roof sketch is required

Let's carry out the calculations manually using the following initial data:

  • house measuring 10x20 m for all-season use;
  • gable roof with a slope length of 6 m together with a cornice overhang, which has a brick chimney with an area of 2 m² and a perimeter of 6 m, as well as one sewer outlet and a roof window measuring 2.2x1.5 m and an area of 3.3 m².

To determine the amount of roofing material, you must perform the following steps:

Thus, to cover the roof in question you need to buy 95 packs of Shinglas “Country” bituminous shingles.

When calculating auxiliary materials we must proceed from existing standards:

  • consumption of fastening elements (nails) is 80 g/m²;
  • need for mastic compositions: for gluing overlaps of lining material - 100 g/linear meter, valley - 400 g/linear meter;
  • mastic consumption for sealing joints is 750 g/linear meter when applying a layer no more than 1 mm thick.

It is advisable to check your own calculations using online calculators, which are usually posted on manufacturers’ websites roofing.

The number of extension strips is calculated similarly: N d = L ∙ (1+K) / L s, where L - total length any type of additional element (ridge, cornice, etc.) in linear meters, K - percentage for scrap and trimming of material, Lс - number of linear meters in one package. The K coefficient is usually taken equal to 5–10% (0.05–0.1). For example, the required number of drip strips for our roof will be 2 ∙ 10 ∙ (1+0.1) / 2 = 11 pcs. Here it is assumed that two cornices, each 10 m long, are covered with a drip, and the standard length of the additional strip is 2 m.

After purchasing everything you need, you can begin installing the Shinglas Country soft roof, following all the recommendations in order to end up with an attractive, completely waterproof and durable roof.

Installation of Shinglas flexible tiles

The installation of any roof, including when using Shinglas soft roofing, must be carried out in accordance with the standards and regulations, as well as installation instructions.

The first thing you need to remember is that a standard roofing pie for bitumen shingles is installed on roofs with a slope of at least 1:5, that is, 12º. Otherwise it is necessary to install double underlay carpet and increase the size of the ventilation gap to 80 mm.

Work order:

  1. The installation of a Shinglas soft roof begins with laying a solid, level and securely fastened base over the sheathing. It should ensure good air circulation under the roof, for which the supply openings are placed at the eaves overhangs, and the exhaust openings are located closer to the ridge. The base for flexible tiles is made from OSB-3 boards, moisture-resistant plywood or edged boards with a moisture content not exceeding 18–20%. The base boards (or slabs) must be at least two spans long between the load-bearing supports, joined on the supports and secured with four nails. To avoid swelling during linear expansion of wood, gaps of 1–3 mm are left between the elements of the continuous flooring. When settling in wooden base the boards are pre-sorted by thickness, placing the thicker ones near the eaves so that the base plane is as flat as possible.
  2. An underlayment carpet is laid transversely or longitudinally on the prepared solid flooring as additional waterproofing. There is one nuance here - if the roof slope is less than 1:3 (18º), the underlay carpet is laid over the entire surface. In other cases, partial installation in special problem areas- on roof overhangs, ridges, valleys, ribs, ventilation passages, roof windows and chimneys. Install the lining material without sagging with overlapping strips of 15 cm, gluing the seams and fixing the edges with roofing nails at intervals of 20 cm.

    The order of laying and fastening the underlayment is determined by the angle of the roof.

  3. Metal eaves and end strips are installed on top of the underlayment to strengthen and protect the roof overhangs. They are laid edgewise and secured in a checkerboard pattern at intervals of 12–15 cm with roofing nails. The planks are mounted with an overlap of 30–50 mm and the overlaps are stitched with two nails to ensure a strong connection. In the area of the eaves overhang, brackets for gutters are fixed. Lay a valley carpet with an overlap of 30 cm, gluing it to the lining material with mastic or bitumen glue and fixing it along the edges with nails.

    The valley carpet is laid on top of the lining layer, securing it to bitumen mastic and roofing nails

  4. Before installing bitumen shingles, markings of slopes are made to level the Shinglas vertically and horizontally. Then they lay a starting row of ridge-eaves universal tiles, starting from the middle of the eaves overhang and moving towards the ends. Filming protective film, glue the shingles to the underlayment and fix each one with four, and with a steep slope - with six nails. Next, bitumen row tiles are installed with an offset of half a petal in each row. For some collections, the offset interval can range from 15–85 cm, while the coating pattern turns out to be abstract.

    I additionally fix the Shinglas shingles with nails so that the top row of covering overlaps the nail heads

  5. The shingles are laid in pyramidal or diagonal stripes depending on the type of cut. At the ends, the fragments are cut and glued to a width of 10 cm from the edge. They do exactly the same in places where valleys pass.

    At the edges of the slopes, the shingles are cut and laid on a layer bitumen mastic 10 cm wide

  6. Roof penetrations are installed. For small-sized output elements (aerators, antennas), rubber seals are used, and thermal insulation is laid around the chimneys. At the junction of the chimneys with the roof, a triangular strip is stuffed around the perimeter and the pipes are wrapped for complete sealing self-adhesive tape at a distance of 25 cm up the pipe and 20 cm along the slope. The material of the valley carpet is laid on top to a width of 50 cm with sizing with mastic and covered with a metal apron.

    Small outlets ventilation elements are sealed using rubber seals, and the passage of the chimneys is protected with a heat insulator and a valley carpet.

  7. The ribs of the stingrays and skates are decorated. For the ribs, use ridge-eaves tiles, dividing them along the perforation line into 3 parts. Arrangement of the ridge begins on the side opposite to the dominant winds. The ordinary shingles that extend onto the ridges and ridges are trimmed, leaving a 3-5 cm gap between the slopes to enhance ventilation. Then, with an overlap of 5 cm, the ridge tiles are laid and each fragment is fixed with four nails (2 on each side), making sure that each subsequent element overlaps the fastenings of the previous one. When performing work in cold weather, to prevent cracking of the material, it is recommended to form a fracture of each fragment before installing the ribs and ridges, using a metal pipe with a diameter of 10 cm heated to 40 ºC.

    The edges of the slopes and ridge units are trimmed with special strips consisting of three shingles

Operation and repair of soft roofing

When using a Shinglas roof, you must follow simple generally accepted rules of care:

  1. Check the condition of the soft roof twice a year - in spring and autumn.
  2. Remove small debris, leaves and branches with a soft brush, and remove sharp objects by hand.
  3. Clean gutters periodically to ensure free flow of water.
  4. Remove snow from the roof in a timely manner using a wooden shovel, removing it in layers and leaving a protective snow cover 10 cm thick.
  5. If any defects are identified during the inspection, immediately begin repairing the coating.

Shinglas soft roofing is an excellent repairable material. Therefore, in case of damage caused by various factors, acceptable local repair do the roofing yourself. For this:

Manufacturers of Shinglas tiles provide a long-term guarantee on their products. However, if installation technologies are violated, building codes and rules, as well as when using low-quality components, the guarantee for soft roofing does not apply.

  • A roof made of flexible tiles looks great from almost any distance. It is suitable for buildings of any purpose, be it in the private sector or for public purposes. The roofs are especially beautiful with many complex elements such as various turrets, skylights, various bends, etc.

    Installation of flexible tiles

    Flexible tiles can generally be thought of as fiberglass tiles that have been impregnated with bitumen. Its main layer is sandwiched between layers of oxidized bitumen containing polymer additives. Thanks to these layers, the material acquires strength and ductility. It gets its color from granulates different colors, which cover the top layer. They simultaneously perform a protective function, protecting the material from UV radiation and atmospheric exposure. IN Lately Manufacturers supply the material with a bottom adhesive layer, which is most often covered with mounting film. This arrangement of the material not only simplifies its installation, but improves the quality of installation, as it increases adhesion to the base and better seals the coating.

    Roofing device

    The installation of a roof made of flexible tiles, given its simplicity, can be done independently, and almost without the involvement of assistants. Judge for yourself, its leaf weighs only a few kilograms, and its length is only one meter.

    Before starting work on preparing the base for soft tiles, prepare a lining “”. The latter has two main tasks:

    The “pie” includes:

    • frame, in other words, the “skeleton” of the roof, which, naturally, must be strong and reliable;
    • film vapor barrier that prevents the penetration of moisture from the premises into the insulation;
    • insulation, thanks to which the heat in the house is retained all year round, it simultaneously functions as a sound absorber;
    • waterproofing that resists moisture from the outside;
    • counter beam;
    • flexible tiles.

    Installing a soft roof with insulation is not a particularly difficult question if you know the intricacies of the technology. It is important to arrange the layers of the “pie” correctly. The first step is to place insulation between the rafters. Waterproofing is secured with outside premises on the counter lathing, and from the inside with the help of boards - vapor barrier material. Next, sequentially install the sheathing, lay backing layer and install the covering.

    Technical map for installation of flexible roofing material

    To install a roof made of soft tiles correctly, it is recommended to lay it on a continuous flooring. To make the base perfectly level, it is made of either planed boards or moisture-resistant plywood.

    • The first step is to lay the cornice tiles, followed by the rest. The tiles are installed with an overlap.
    • In order not to disrupt the accuracy of the material pattern on long slopes, it is recommended to choose the installation direction from the middle of the roof, and not from the edges. In this case, the cutouts of the shingles of each previous row should be covered with the petals of the next one. To strengthen the valley, special valley lining carpets are used.
    • Having reached last row, the tiles are brought out onto the slope, glued with mastic and the upper edge is secured with a metal strip.

    Shinglas soft roof technology

    The roof overhangs are additionally reinforced with metal eaves and end strips. They are installed on top of the lining with a 50 mm overlap and secured with roofing nails.

    Shinglas installation

    Shinglas ridge-eaves tiles are mounted on top of the metal strips. They are fixed to mastic applied with back side, and secured with roofing nails. The starting strip can be cut out yourself from standard strips with cut petals.

    There is a certain probability that shingles in different packs may differ in shade, so it is recommended to mix them before installation.

    The first row of shingles, as already noted, is installed in the direction from the center to the edges. They are fixed with galvanized nails, and their heads are not recessed into the material, but are left flush with its surface.

    The direction of the device of the next row is the same. Start from the center, moving the shingles to the right or left in half-petal increments. Along the edges of the slope, the tile shingles must be trimmed and coated with mastic for additional fastening.

    Unevenness during installation work can be avoided if you first mark the slope. Chalk rope is suitable for these purposes.

Installation of soft roofing TechnoNIKOL Shinglas

General recommendations for installing flexible tiles TechnoNIKOL SHINGLAS

To create an optimal temperature and humidity regime for the roof, it is necessary to comply certain rules. Mandatory components of a reliable design must be: continuous under-roof space and wind insulation. It is important to correctly determine the thickness, taking into account climatic conditions region.

Specialists from the Krovli-M company recommend using products from the same batch, on the packaging of which the release date and color code match. For flexible Shinglas tiles, an insignificant difference in color shades is acceptable. To minimize color variations, you can simply mix the contents of several packages.

During the installation process, you must strictly follow the installation instructions for TechnoNIKOL Shinglas soft roofing.

The installation of a soft roof begins with laying a starting strip, for which they usually choose a universal eaves-ridge tiles. Shingles with cut petals can be used. Next, ordinary tiles are laid. The presence of an adhesive layer allows you to fix the shingle to the base, after which it is nailed with roofing nails, retreating 20-30 mm from the edge. Using an air gun will significantly speed up the process.

The beginning of installation is the center of the eaves overhang. This makes it easier to align rows horizontally. Installation of all subsequent rows is carried out with an offset of half the petal of the previous row.

When installation is carried out at a temperature not exceeding +5°C, packs of tiles are supplied in batches of 5-6 pieces from a heated room.

At +10°C and below, it is necessary to heat the adhesive strip on the shingles, for which a hair dryer is used.

If during the installation process you need to cut tiles directly on the roof, you should use a pre-prepared board, which is placed under the material. This precaution will help maintain the integrity of already installed shingles.

Flexible tiles cannot be stacked TechnoNIKOL SHINGLAS, placing pallets one on top of the other. It is important to exclude exposure of the tiles to direct sunlight, which will avoid caking of the self-adhesive strip with the protective film.

The shingles will be easier to separate from each other if the package is slightly bent and shaken before opening.

note: Do not walk on the roof in hot sunny or humid cold weather. To avoid damage in the form of shoe marks, it is advisable to use special manholes for moving.

1. Materials required for installation

Tile TechnoNIKOL SHINGLAS

Soft roofing Shinglas is presented in a wide range - 60 models various shapes slicing and color range. Soft collections SHINGLAS roofs differ from each other in the density of bitumen (in the thickness of the shingles and in the topping).

Underlay carpet TechnoNIKOL

A combination of self-adhesive and mechanically fixed (roofing nails) material can be used on the roof. It is rational to use the first on valleys and eaves overhangs, and the second on the rest of the roof area.

Self-adhesive underlays ANDEREP*

  • ANDEREP ULTRA – elastic, flexible material, used for reliable waterproofing protection of bitumen shingle roofs. Made from polyester. Additional protective functions provides a fine-grained sand coating of the outer layer.
  • ANDEREP BARRIER - lightweight roll waterproofing used in places where the likelihood of leaks is especially high (valleys, eaves overhangs etc.).

Underlay carpet ANDEREP with mechanical fixation*

  • ANDEREP PROF is a rolled ultra-light material that performs the function of a waterproofing carpet. It is a polyester base impregnated with a polymer-bitumen mixture and protected on both sides by non-woven polypropylene (Spunbond). Applicable under different types roofing covering. Durable and easy to install. Can be used as a temporary roof during construction pauses of up to six months.
  • ANDEREP GL is a material whose structure consists of fiberglass with a polymer-bitumen mixture applied on both sides. Both sides are protected by a layer of fine sand. Longitudinal thermoactive strips make it possible to do without bitumen mastic when connecting material sheets. Used as a waterproofing carpet under flexible tiles.

Valley carpet TechnoNIKOL

Provides reliable waterproofing valley, designed to seal the junction of the roof and the walls. The basis of the material is polyester, with bottom side which is covered with fine-grained sand, and on top - basalt granulate.

*it is possible to use other materials with similar characteristics.

TechnoNIKOL ventilation elements

It is important to create conditions for effective ventilation of the under-roof space, for which there must be elements available for arranging a sufficient number of supply and exhaust openings.

Mastic from TechnoNIKOL No. 23 (FIXER)

Adhesive polymer-bitumen cold mastic for gluing joints of underlay carpets and gluing SHINGLAS roofing elements.

Fasteners

Roofing nails of sufficient length (galvanized):

  • rod with a diameter of 3 mm or more;
  • length – 30-45 mm;
  • cap 9 mm or more.

Nail consumption rate per m2 of roofing averages 80 g.

3. Consumption of tiles

A package of SHINGLAS tiles from the RANCH and JAZZ collections is enough to cover a roof area of 2 m2. Series WESTERN and CONTINENT - 1.5 m 2, COUNTRY - 2.6 m 2 (overlaps during installation are taken into account). Packages of other Shinglas collections are designed for 3 m2 of coverage.

Roofs of complex configuration require more material, which is due to the need to install ridges, ribs and other elements. It should also be taken into account that the consumption is affected by the shape of the shingles. The dragon tooth, chord and sonata shapes require no more than 5% waste. When installing tiles of other shapes, you should focus on a 10-15% increase in material consumption.

4. Consumption of adhesive mastic Fixer

  • roof ends, overlaps of lining material - 100 g/m. P.;
  • sealing of junctions – 750 g/m. P.;
  • installation of valley carpet – 400 g/m. P.

The mastic layer should not exceed 1 mm. It is not recommended to dilute the Fixer with an excessive amount of special solvents, otherwise blisters and streaks may form on the finished coating.
