TechnoNIKOL shinglas flexible tile installation. Installation of Shinglas flexible tiles. Roof repair from flexible Shinglas tiles

Among the wide variety of covering materials, one of the most popular today is Shinglas roofing - bituminous shingles, presented in Russia by the trademark of the TechnoNIKOL corporation of the same name. It is valued for its versatility, functionality, practicality, economy and beauty. Latest developments, the best raw materials and invaluable experience of experts are embodied in Shinglas soft roofing, which can decorate any structure and withstand the strength test in any climatic conditions.

Roofing materials "Shinglas": description and characteristics

Story soft tiles dates back more than a century. Its creators are considered to be Americans - immigrants from the Old World, who found a replacement for their beloved and familiar, but imperfect and fragile clay tiles, which had crowned castles, fortresses, residences, temples and cathedrals in Europe for centuries.

The residence of the Grand Masters of the Teutonic Order in Malbork (Poland) looks mysterious and fascinating under the tiled roof

Initially these were impregnated with bitumen roll materials, vaguely reminiscent of modern roofing felt. The transition to cutting sheets into separate fragments (shingles) began in 1903 and at first was limited to only two shapes - rectangular and hexagonal. But by the 30s of the 20th century, the cardboard base was replaced with fiberglass, and new cutting forms appeared - rhombus, dragon tooth, beaver tail and three-petal model. This provided enormous popularity bitumen shingles among private homeowners, which continues unabated to this day. Shinglas roofing has become an attractive and affordable covering, which has been taken care of by professionals and time, and its owners can now only enjoy world achievements in the production of materials for comfortable living.

Under definition soft roof“Shinglas” includes a large family of roofing materials that differ in purpose, composition and method of use:

  1. Construction chemicals:
    • antiseptics based on modern biocides that provide protection wooden elements roofs from rot, house fungus, mold, woodworms;
    • fire-bioprotective impregnations with a fire protection period of about 7 years and a bioprotection period of more than 20 years, which transform wood into the category of low-combustible materials;
    • mastics for gluing joints of lining material, seams of soft tiles, junctions and valley carpet.
  2. Ventilation and drainage systems- plastic penetrations, aerators, valves, seals and ventilation outlets.

    Point aerators for soft roofs, which prevent the formation of condensation and wetting of the insulation, are usually located near the ridge

  3. Underlay and valley carpets are high-strength and reliable rolled products with a base made of polyester or polyester, as well as with a sand or basalt top layer. They are distinguished by their low weight, which together with non-slip coating ensures safe installation.

    Anderep underlay carpets for soft roofing "Shinglas" can also be used on roofs of copper, natural tiles and slate

  4. Rolled products and sealing tapes - vapor barrier and waterproof and windproof films, butyl rubber connecting tapes And diffusion membranes with a working layer of polypropylene film, which, due to its exceptional qualities, ensures the diffusion of water vapor, but prevents the passage of water. Particularly worth highlighting in this group is the single-layer Shinglas roll tile, which can rightfully be considered a high-quality, economy-class roofing product.

Soft tiles "Shinglas"

Shinglas tiles are single-layer or multi-layer shingles with figured cutouts along the outer edge based on fiberglass, which perfectly holds its shape and, in addition, does not deform under the influence of loads acting on the roof. The fiberglass core is coated on both sides with modified or oxidized bitumen, and then the top of the product is sprinkled with mineral chips, which gives the roofing deck volume, color and protects it from ultraviolet radiation. On the reverse side, self-adhesive bitumen is applied to the shingles for fixation to the continuous sheathing and a protective polypropylene film is applied, which is removed before laying the tile fragments.

Flexible shingles "Shinglas" are based on a reinforcing layer (fiberglass), treated on both sides with special compounds, due to which the shingles hold their shape well and do not deform under mechanical loads

Soft tiles vary:

  • by the number of layers - single-layer, two-layer and three-layer tiles. The more layers, the greater the strength of the products, water resistance, guarantee period service and, of course, price;

    Double-layer shingles "Shinglas" series "Rancho" of blue color organically complements the castle style of the house, and the textured relief gives the roof solidity and individuality

  • according to the cutting shape;

    Shinglas tiles are cut in the form of strips 1 m long, having petals of various types. different shapes

  • according to the color scheme - plain shingles, with shimmer or darkening.

    Flexible tiles "Shinglas" can be plain, darkened or with a tint, depending on the type of crumbs with which the top layer is sprinkled

Despite the differences in characteristics, all Shinglas bitumen shingles have the following advantages:

Finished roofing systems Shinglas

Shinglas roofing systems are a reasonable solution for roofing, thought out to the smallest detail by specialists. They conveniently combine conventional production technologies and innovative materials that comply with the national quality certificate ISO 9001:2015, which is the key to their durability. Shinglas systems have been developed for both cold (attic) and mansard roofs.

"TN-Shinglas Attic"

The “Mansard” system is in great demand in private housing construction when constructing a warm attic roof. Her hallmark is the use of a superdiffusion membrane over thermal insulation material, which helps to instantly remove wet vapors from the insulation, thus preventing heat loss. The structure of the Shinglas Attic system is as follows:

Advantages finished system"Shinglas Attic":

  • ease of installation;
  • possibility of use on a variety of roofing configurations;
  • a large selection of colors and shades, as well as cutting shapes for the top flooring shingles;
  • protection from noise and ensuring an excellent microclimate in the attic.

"TN-Shinglas Attic PIR"

A special feature of the finished Attic PIR system is the Logicpir rigid fire-resistant insulation based on polyisocyanurate foam (PIR), laid along the edge of the rafters. The heat insulator used makes it possible to abandon the laying of a superdiffusion membrane, since it contains Logicpir slabs aluminium foil creates a durable waterproof layer that reliably protects the roof structure from moisture. The roofing cake "TN-Shinglas Attic PIR" includes the following components:

Video: continuous flooring under Shinglas

Advantages of installing the finished Shinglas Attic PIR system:

  • the low weight of the structure does not place additional load on load-bearing elements roofs;
  • the thermal insulation layer forms a closed contour, not interrupted by the rafter legs;
  • there are no cold bridges when installing insulation, therefore, heat saving mode is observed;
  • no windproofing or waterproofing materials are required.

"TN-Shinglas Classic"

An unheated attic is a simple and inexpensive option for roofing, which is most often chosen by summer residents, as well as homeowners who do not need additional living space or want to save on construction. And although the purpose of a cold attic is very limited, it nevertheless serves to protect living spaces from cold and dampness. And this is already a lot.

The roofing pie of a cold attic looks like this:

Advantages of the system for an unheated attic:

  • convenience, simplicity and safety of installation;
  • possibility of use on roofing structures of any shape, even the most complex ones;
  • complete sealing of the roof deck.

Installation of soft roofing "Shinglas"

The finished roofing systems described above most fully demonstrate the composition of the roofing pie for soft tile coverings. If desired, you can use other insulating and insulating materials, but the order of installation should remain the same:

There are no restrictions on the installation of Shinglas soft roofing. However, installation work must be carried out in accordance with SP 17.13330.2011 with additions and changes due to the appearance of new building materials on the market and SNiP 2.01.07–85 as amended in 2008 for calculating snow and wind loads. In addition, it is advisable to listen to the recommendations of Shinglas manufacturers:

  1. To create better thermal protection for the house and durability of the enclosing structures, it is necessary to include a continuous vapor barrier in the soft roof, ensure good ventilation and lay insulation of the optimal thickness for a particular area.
  2. It is not recommended to use products with different color codes on the same roof. To minimize color disharmony, it is advisable to mix 5-7 packs of asphalt shingles in random order before installation and install Shinglas in diagonal stripes.
  3. If roofing work is carried out at street temperatures below +5 ºC, then Shinglas packages should be taken from a warm storage to produce no more than 5-7 packs and the self-adhesive strip on the shingles should be heated with a heat hairdryer.
  4. To prevent violation of the solidity of the soft roof, you need to cut the materials on a specially placed board.
  5. Avoid exposing Shinglas shingles to scorching sun rays to prevent untimely sintering adhesive composition with silicone protective film.
  6. In clear, hot or cold, damp weather, it is recommended to use special manholes to move around the roof. This will prevent stains from forming on soft covering and the appearance of shoe marks.
  7. To freely separate the shingles from each other, you need to slightly bend and shake the package before opening.

Calculation of material for soft roofing "Shinglas"

Before starting installation work and purchasing materials, you need to calculate the roof using an online calculator (often it can be found on the official website of the bitumen shingles manufacturer) or manually using geometric formulas for the area of a square, triangle, trapezoid, etc., taking into account overlaps, waste and marriage. If a house project was initially made, then all the necessary initial data for the calculation are contained in the working documentation. Otherwise, after erecting the rafter system and checking the geometry of the slopes, you will have to draw a sketch of the roof on paper and take measurements on it.

In the absence of design documentation, a roof sketch is required to calculate roofing materials

Let's carry out the calculations manually using the following initial data:

  • house measuring 10x20 m for all-season use;
  • gable roof with a slope length of 6 m together with a cornice overhang, which has a brick chimney with an area of 2 m² and a perimeter of 6 m, as well as one sewer outlet and a roof window measuring 2.2x1.5 m and an area of 3.3 m².

To determine the quantity roofing material you need to do the following:

Thus, to cover the roof in question you need to buy 95 packs of Shinglas “Country” bituminous shingles.

When calculating auxiliary materials, you must proceed from existing standards:

  • consumption of fastening elements (nails) is 80 g/m²;
  • need for mastic compositions: for gluing overlaps of lining material - 100 g/linear meter, valley - 400 g/linear meter;
  • mastic consumption for sealing joints is 750 g/linear meter when applying a layer no more than 1 mm thick.

It is advisable to check your own calculations using online calculators, which are usually posted on the websites of roofing manufacturers.

The number of extension strips is calculated similarly: N d = L ∙ (1+K) / L s, where L - total length any type of additional element (ridge, cornice, etc.) in linear meters, K - percentage for scrap and trimming of material, Lс - number of linear meters in one package. The K coefficient is usually taken equal to 5–10% (0.05–0.1). For example, required amount drip strips for our roof will be equal to 2 ∙ 10 ∙ (1+0.1) / 2 = 11 pcs. Here it is assumed that two cornices, each 10 m long, are covered with a drip, and the standard length of the additional strip is 2 m.

After purchasing everything you need, you can begin installing the Shinglas Country soft roof, following all the recommendations in order to end up with an attractive, absolutely waterproof and durable roof.

Installation of Shinglas flexible tiles

The installation of any roof, including when using Shinglas soft roofing, must be carried out in accordance with the standards and regulations, as well as installation instructions.

The first thing you need to remember is that a standard roofing pie for bitumen shingles is installed on roofs with a slope of at least 1:5, that is, 12º. Otherwise, it is necessary to install a double lining carpet and increase the size of the ventilation gap to 80 mm.

Work order:

  1. The installation of a Shinglas soft roof begins with laying a solid, level and securely fastened base over the sheathing. It should ensure good air circulation under the roof, for which the supply openings are placed at the eaves overhangs, and the exhaust openings are located closer to the ridge. The base for flexible tiles is made from OSB-3 boards, moisture-resistant plywood or edged boards with a moisture content not exceeding 18–20%. The base boards (or slabs) must be at least two spans long between the load-bearing supports, joined on the supports and secured with four nails. To avoid swelling during linear expansion of wood, gaps of 1–3 mm are left between the elements of the continuous flooring. When arranging a wooden base, the boards are pre-sorted by thickness, placing the thicker ones next to each other. eaves overhang so that the base plane is as level as possible.
  2. An underlayment carpet is laid transversely or longitudinally on the prepared solid flooring as additional waterproofing. There is one nuance here - if the roof slope is less than 1:3 (18º), the underlay carpet is laid over the entire surface. In other cases, partial installation in special problem areas- on roof overhangs, ridges, valleys, ribs, ventilation passages, roof windows and chimneys Oh. Install the lining material without sagging with an overlap of strips of 15 cm, gluing the seams and fixing the edges roofing nails at intervals of 20 cm.

    The order of laying and fastening the underlayment is determined by the angle of the roof.

  3. Metal eaves and end strips are installed on top of the underlayment to strengthen and protect the roof overhangs. They are laid edgewise and secured in a checkerboard pattern at intervals of 12–15 cm with roofing nails. The planks are mounted with an overlap of 30–50 mm and the overlaps are stitched with two nails to ensure a strong connection. In the area of the eaves overhang, brackets for gutters are fixed. Lay a valley carpet with an overlap of 30 cm, gluing it to the lining material with mastic or bitumen glue and fixing it along the edges with nails.

    The valley carpet is laid on top of the lining layer, securing it to bitumen mastic and roofing nails

  4. Before installing bitumen shingles, markings of slopes are made to level the Shinglas vertically and horizontally. Then they lay a starting row of ridge-eaves universal tiles, starting from the middle of the eaves overhang and moving towards the ends. Remove the protective film, glue the shingles to the underlayment and secure each with four nails, and if the slope is steep, with six nails. Next, bitumen row tiles are installed with an offset of half a petal in each row. For some collections, the offset interval can range from 15–85 cm, while the coating pattern turns out to be abstract.

    I additionally fix the Shinglas shingles with nails so that the top row of covering overlaps the nail heads

  5. The shingles are laid in pyramidal or diagonal stripes depending on the type of cut. At the ends, the fragments are cut and glued to a width of 10 cm from the edge. They do exactly the same in places where valleys pass.

    At the edges of the slopes, the shingles are cut and laid on a layer of bitumen mastic 10 cm wide

  6. Roof penetrations are installed. For small-sized output elements (aerators, antennas), rubber seals are used, and thermal insulation is laid around the chimneys. At the junction of the chimneys with the roof, a triangular strip is stuffed around the perimeter and for complete sealing, the pipes are wrapped with self-adhesive tape at a distance of 25 cm up the pipe and 20 cm along the slope. The material of the valley carpet is laid on top to a width of 50 cm with sizing with mastic and covered with a metal apron.

    Small outlets ventilation elements are sealed using rubber seals, and the passage of the chimneys is protected with a heat insulator and a valley carpet.

  7. The ribs of the stingrays and skates are decorated. For the ribs, use ridge-eaves tiles, dividing them along the perforation line into 3 parts. Arrangement of the ridge begins on the side opposite to the dominant winds. The ordinary shingles that extend onto the ridges and ridges are trimmed, leaving a 3-5 cm gap between the slopes to enhance ventilation. Then, with an overlap of 5 cm, the ridge tiles are laid and each fragment is fixed with four nails (2 on each side), making sure that each subsequent element overlaps the fastenings of the previous one. When performing work in cold weather, to prevent cracking of the material, it is recommended to form a fracture of each fragment before installing the ribs and ridges, using a heated to 40 ºC metal pipe diameter 10 cm.

    The edges of the slopes and ridge units are trimmed with special strips consisting of three shingles

Operation and repair of soft roofing

When using a Shinglas roof, you must follow simple generally accepted rules of care:

  1. Check the condition of the soft roof twice a year - in spring and autumn.
  2. Remove small debris, leaves and branches with a soft brush, and remove sharp objects by hand.
  3. Clean gutters periodically to ensure free flow of water.
  4. Remove snow from the roof in a timely manner using a wooden shovel, removing it in layers and leaving a protective snow cover 10 cm thick.
  5. If any defects are identified during the inspection, immediately begin repairing the coating.

Current roof repairs "Shinglas"

Shinglas soft roofing is an excellent repairable material. Therefore, in case of damage caused by various factors, acceptable local repair do the roofing yourself. For this:

Manufacturers of Shinglas tiles provide a long-term guarantee on their products. However, if installation technologies are violated, building codes and rules, as well as when using low-quality components, the guarantee for soft roofing does not apply.

Video: updating an old roof with Shinglas tiles

Modern flexible tiles are a unique roofing material with which you can bring any architectural idea to life and revive country house and give elitism country cottage. And in this article we will look at all the advantages and disadvantages of the popular bitumen shingles domestic production, which comes from the Shinglas brand.

To begin with, you will be interested to know that the popular soft roofing Shinglas - Russian production. It is produced by the manufacturer of various building materials TechnoNIKOL, which is known to many for its roll-floated roofing. And here the rule that domestic products are always worse than foreign ones no longer applies. Why? Now we'll figure it all out!

What is Shinglas flexible tile?

So, let's first understand the concepts so that you can understand more clearly what will be discussed next. So, the basis of Shinglas tiles is fiberglass, which provides the roofing material with sufficient elasticity and density. It is clear that the elasticity parameter directly affects the flexibility of the tiles, and the final quality of the product depends on the density.

The base of the tile is covered on both sides with layers of bitumen (which is why soft tiles are called bitumen). The quality of the layer affects the elasticity of the material, wear resistance and water permeability. Next, the top and bottom layers of tiles. The top one is covered with basalt chips, which makes the product resistant to any weather conditions, plus it is decorative. And the bottom layer of tiles is covered with a polymer mass and a protective layer, which should prevent further destruction of the roofing sheets if some technology violations were made during installation.

There is an adhesive strip at the bottom. Moreover, this is not just glue - it is a frost-resistant polymer mass that covers up to 60% of the shingle area and provides reliable installation roofing material. And finally, the protective layer is a silicone easily removable film that protects the sheets from sticking together.

As a topping for these tiles, a special granulate is used, which is produced by the Tegola company. This is basalt chips of three fractions at once, i.e. The most durable and strong rock is used as raw material, which is not afraid of any weather conditions. And the granulate itself is pre-painted using high-temperature firing, so the roofing covering does not change its color throughout its entire service life.

The main advantages of Shinglas

The main advantage of domestic Shinglas tiles is 100% tightness. But, of course, other indicators are encouraging:

  • Flexibility that allows you to equip the roof of the most complex configuration - from almost flat surfaces with a 12° slope to intricate domes.
  • Light weight, and therefore there is no need to reinforce the rafters.
  • Biological resistance - neither corrosion nor rotting threatens such a roof.
  • Absolute water resistance and frost resistance. This type of roofing does not absorb water at all due to its non-porous structure.
  • Wind resistance is a remarkable quality of roofing for the windiest areas, where ordinary corrugated sheeting can be torn off with one jerk.
  • Chemical resistance. Shinglas tiles, thanks to their coating and protective layers, easily tolerate both acid rain and salt ingress.
  • Practical and economical: low amount of waste even at the most complex sites, affordable price and valuable compactness for transportation.

Impressive? But all this is thanks to the special Shinglas production technology. And the new collection of three-layer tiles is completely captivating:

Shinglas soft roof collections

Total to create various combinations Shinglas soft tiles come in 22 colors, several types of shingle cuts and options for the number of layers. For example, the most popular series of TechnoNIKOL Shinglas are “Jazz” and “Country”. New items are two-layer tiles “Rancho” and three-layer tiles “Continent”.

All series of Shinglas flexible tiles mainly differ in the mass of bitumen used and in the quality and color of the topping. For example, the “Rancho” series is distinguished by simple colors, while the “Jazz” and “Country” series are for real design connoisseurs, because they use more expensive toppings and the ability to create a bright pattern. As for the thickness of bitumen, it increases from the “Rancho” series to the “Jazz” series, which is why there is a difference in price.

If you are looking for roofing material with soft, natural shades that will never go out of style, pay attention to the “Country” series. Here are seven model series which bear the names of American states.

The Ultra series tiles are distinguished by unusual shapes and noticeable bright colors- blue, gray, green, red and brown. Such a roof is good for realizing a variety of design ideas.

But the “Jazz” series presents 7 types of spectacular imitation of a wide variety of architectural styles- from classic to modern. The thickness of this tile is quite large, and therefore the quality is one of the best in the series presented.

But we will talk about the collections not only from the design side (color, texture, cutting), but also from the quality and durability side. Therefore, all Shinglas collections are divided into three main groups: single-layer, two-layer and three-layer.

Single-layer Shinglas tiles: neat style and practicality

Single-layer shingles, as you already understood from the name, are shingles glued to a solid base. The volume of such roofing is imitated by a specially applied shadow. It looks good, and the only question is practicality.

Pay attention to the Samba series, which stands out for its bright colors:

On Jive, which is made according to noble classical motives:

And the popular Quadrille:

Double-layer Shinglas tiles: 3D volumetric effect

Multilayer tiles are of the best quality, rich in color solutions, leaves almost no waste and is easy to install. Such tiles will cost you 20-30% more than regular single-layer tiles, but there are reasons for this. The main difference is in the manufacturing technology. In this case, several sheets of soft tiles are used, which are connected to each other with bitumen mastic. Of course, in the end it turns out completely new level quality.

So, the advantages of double tiles are:

  • Durability. The warranty period for such a product is two to three times higher than for conventional single-layer tiles.
  • Reliability. It is clear that two layers of any material are at least twice as good in terms of technical performance as one layer.
  • Strength. Damaging such a roof is no longer easy, and certainly not by an apple falling from a tree.
  • Easy to install. Here the layers are glued together at the factory, and therefore they do not need to be combined on site. This is a valuable point because... Not all of us are aesthetes and not all of us have such a good eye to perfectly combine pieces of different colors with each other.
  • Design. Now you can see the volume, the texture, and the texture. Such a roof looks much more impressive and more expensive than just a flat pasted image, even with a shadow. It is more realistic to call this type of soft roof tiles, and not its imitation.

Professional exterior designers also love double-layer tiles for their volume, richness of color and texture. And because with its help it is quite easy to hide any imperfections in the roof.

And double-layer tiles are almost irreplaceable when you need to cover a roof of complex shape, with all kinds of turrets and gables. But we know that modern architects have limitless imagination!

Three-layer Shinglas tiles: a new word in construction!

These tiles are the roofing of the future! Firstly, the top third layer serves as an additional mechanical protection roofing, and secondly, it allows you to achieve a stunning three-dimensional effect. See for yourself:

Subtleties and nuances of installation

Shinglas products can be used to cover roofs even with a slope of less than 11°, not to mention other angles of inclination. Moreover, installation of these soft tiles can be carried out even in the cold season - you just need to keep the rolls in a warm room in advance so that they can be straightened.

What’s good is that the manufacturer Technonikol made sure that the adhesive base does not change its properties even at sub-zero temperatures. Therefore, you can work with Shinglas tiles even when negative temperatures, you just have to heat the adhesive strip with a hair dryer if the temperature drops below +10°C.

Now let's take a closer look at all the subtleties and nuances of working with this roofing covering.

What will you have to tinker with?

At the moment, there are many promotions from TechnoNIKOL in Russia, where detailed master classes on the installation of soft tiles are held. As a result, sales increase significantly, because any person is inclined to buy something that he has already dealt with in reality. Therefore, even in remote corners of Russia you can find old houses with new soft tiles - marketing is doing its job. But let's talk about the cons.

A significant disadvantage of soft Shinglas tiles from TechnoNIKOL, which can ruin the whole impression, is the need to select colors yourself. Moreover, if you bought some series you liked at one time, and then decided that it wasn’t enough, and six months or a year later you bought the same one, you can’t put them together. Because the shades will already be different, which will become noticeable. In addition, sometimes they come across different ones even in the same pack!

True, smart consumers found a way out of the situation. We buy 4-5 packages and just mix the colors. It turns out stylish, and no one will notice the difference. You'll have to be a designer! But many other manufacturers supply their products with ready-made colors, which you don’t need to rack your brains about. Although who likes what.

Preparatory work

So, first of all, solve the issue of ventilation. So, if there is only a non-residential attic under the roof, there is no way to do without ventilation. This is important so that in summer hot air does not accumulate under the roof and moisture can escape freely. You don’t want the rafters to become damp in just a couple of years, do you? So be sure to place it above the ridge level ventilation pipe. The fact is that bituminous shingles are almost as vapor-tight as roofing felt.

If there is no need for waterproofing, then you should not forget the vapor barrier - just stretch the film from the inside, under the roof.

Choosing a base

But what should flexible tiles be glued to? Smooth planed boards, OSB boards and moisture-resistant plywood are quite suitable for this purpose. Such materials are not only durable, but also hold well dynamic load from nails. But ordinary lining cannot be used - it is easily split by thick nails, which have to be used to fasten the tiles. Moreover, due to its structure, plywood in practice turns out to be much stronger than an ordinary board of the same thickness.

In any case, the main requirements for the base for the tiles are:

  • Absolute dryness - otherwise all the tiles will fall apart, and the solution to this problem will not be cheap.
  • Rigidity - no deflections!
  • Ideal evenness is such that the maximum difference in height is within one square meter must not exceed 2 mm!
  • Strength. Yes, asphalt shingles are lightweight, but you can’t forget about the snow, right? Remember how difficult it is to remove snow on heavy days, and now imagine the pressure it exerts with a layer of only 30 cm!

Make the rafter pitch 50 cm if you use a solid board, and 90 cm if you use plywood. Here's a good example:

Installation technology

So, let's start laying the Shinglas soft roof, having first laid an underlay carpet on the finished base. In principle, any of the proposed ones is suitable here modern market, but TechnoNIKOL itself advises taking Anderep Barrier or Anderep Prof carpets, because they have a special propylene protective layer.

Although there is also a practice when the lining carpet is not laid over the entire roof, but only in the most problematic places - where there are junctions, around roof windows and pipes:

But it’s better to do everything technologically correctly from the beginning:

  • Step 1. First, lay the lining carpet in the valley and fix it with nails in increments of 20 cm, and then install them in rows from bottom to top - so that they are parallel to the cornice, with an overlap of 10 cm in the longitudinal position and 20 cm in the transverse position.
  • Step 2. Fix all edges of the lining carpet with nails at intervals of 15 cm, glue the seams with K-36 glue, and leave an additional 15 cm overlap on the carpet in the valleys.
  • Step 3. Installation of the Shinglas soft roof according to the rules is carried out from the bottom up, over the entire surface of the slopes. Then we glue and nail the tile itself.
  • Step 4. Don't forget to shoot protective film from each tile. And the part of the tiles that will be close to the gable overhang should be further processed special glue or mastic with a layer width of up to 12 cm.
  • Step 5. Cover the ridge with eaves tiles.
  • Step 6. Now it is important to protect the edges of the base from rain and snow. Therefore, we install metal cornice strips. They need to be laid with an overlap of 5 cm and hammered in with three nails so that they pierce both strips. Fasten in a zigzag manner, in increments of 10 cm.
  • Step 7. To protect the laid soft tiles from moisture during rain, lay an additional valley carpet along the valleys. Glue it along the edges and secure it with roofing nails in 10 cm increments.
  • Step 8. If the roof slope angle is less than 12°, then, to avoid leaks, lay a self-adhesive underlayment in two layers, and a ventilation gap between wooden base and increase with insulation to 80 mm.

We offer you two detailed master class, which will clearly explain everything to you:

That's all the difficulties. Feel free to purchase domestic tiles, and carry out the installation according to all the rules. Then the result will definitely please you!

You should not save, and it is better to use a soft roof. Although the ease of installation makes the price per 1 sq. m. acceptable for average income. Today we will look at Shinglas roofing, installation technology, properties, pros and cons. The most important thing is that the service life of this coating is about 60 years, of course, subject to the technology.

  • ANDEREP GL - the principle of design and structure is the same as that of soft tiles, it is fastened in the same way mechanically, and does not require the use of mastics to seal the seams. Used mainly under soft tiles.
  1. Roofing nails. This is a steel fastener covered with stainless steel on top, the diameter of the nail head is at least 9 mm. And also the diameter of the rod is not less than 3 mm. Fastener consumption per 1 sq. m. is 80 gr.

And now we will tell you why we chose Shinglas tiles.

Because like tiles, so is everything auxiliary materials and components are manufactured by one manufacturer, Techno Nicole, and can be purchased in one place. Which is very convenient and saves a lot of time.

Installation of flexible Shinglas tiles

As we all understand, installation consists of many stages. The initial stage is the creation

Bases for laying

You should start with the fact that work should be carried out in a warm, rainless season.

We attach a membrane film to the rafters, which will protect the insulation from moisture.

We fasten the film using counter lathing.

The insulation is laid on the underside of the membrane between the rafters. We attach the counter batten to the counter batten in increments of 20 cm.

For the base we choose the most optimal option, this is OSB-3 (oriented strand board), but plywood and other building materials can also be used.

It should be secured in the form of brickwork, using nails and screws. The seam between the plates must be left 3-4 mm. for thermal expansion.

When you use flexible tiles from the Western and Continent collections, the base should be made at least 12 mm thick. For other collections, a thickness of 9 mm is sufficient.

Laying technology of the lining layer

We looked at the types of lining option above, it should be noted that for the valley area they use a self-adhesive lining layer ANDEREP, it is advisable to use one roll for the entire length, but if this does not work out, then the overlap should be at least 30 cm and do not forget to carefully glue the joint . The width of the lining carpet should be 1 m, 50 cm from each edge.

In the area of the eaves overhang, self-adhesive material ANDEREP is also used.

The material is laid to the very width of the cornice overhang, as well as about 60 cm inside the building.

This installation method prevents water from entering.

The entire remaining surface of the roof is covered with lining material with mechanical view fastenings Laying can be carried out both in the longitudinal and transverse directions. From bottom to top, in the longitudinal method there is an overlap of at least 10 cm. Parallel to the eaves overhang, an overlap of at least 15 cm. With any method, the joints must be treated with Fixer over the entire width. The underlayment is secured to the roof surface using roofing fasteners.

It should be noted here that after the lining material is attached, markings are applied. The markings allow you to lay soft tiles evenly, both vertically and horizontally, but this does not mean that you need to nail the tiles along these lines. It’s simple: the vertical strip is equal to the width of the tile itself, and horizontally, every five rows are minus 80 cm.

Installation technology of flexible shingles tiles

We fix the starting line, this is where it begins. You can use special ridge-eaves tiles or the tiles themselves, only after cutting off the petals.

We retreat about two centimeters from the edge of the roof and glue it on top of the lining layer and nail it.

After this, we begin the installation of the initial row; experts recommend starting from the center of the roof and, unforgettable, retreating 2 cm from the edge of the starting layer.

The next layer is mounted in the same way from the center, but shifted to the left or right by half the petal. So we continue to glue and nail the tiles in each subsequent row, and do not forget to shift them.

The shingles in each pack may vary slightly in shade, so you should mix several packs. The tiles are nailed with galvanized nails, the main thing is that the caps are in the same plane with the roof surface.

For different tile shapes different quantities fastening and fastening method.

So for the Dragon Tooth, the place where two layers of tiles overlap is simultaneously fastened with a nail, to make it easier to hammer in, the manufacturer marks the front surface of the roof with a thin line.

The Continent collection should only be fastened with nails 45 mm long.

The edge of the tiles along the edge of the roof should be sealed with impregnation to a depth of about 100 mm. this allows you to protect the roof from side rain. It is recommended to heat the adhesive layer with a hair dryer.

We bring the top row to the ridge and cut it by 2-3 cm, to the edge of the metal strip, to beat off the water. On the other side of the roof the sequence is the same. Ridge tiles are also used for arranging ribs. Near the ribs and slopes, the coating is trimmed so that there is a gap of about 50 mm. Ridge tiles are laid from bottom to top, with an overlap of about 5 cm. Fastening is done with nails, 2 pieces each. from each side.

The Ranch, Jazz, Country, Finnish and Classic series of tiles must be bent only on a heated metal pipe, this is done specifically so that the tiles accept the required form and did not burst at subzero temperatures.

Where the roof adjoins the wall, it is necessary to fill the wall with wooden slats in the form of a triangle, onto which the edge of a row of tiles is placed.

The wall should also be treated with a primer. A ridge tile is laid on top of the row of tiles.

With an overlap on the prepared wall, but not less than 300 mm.

We carefully process all joints, seams and surfaces.

Roofing care

Like any type of covering, shinglas tiles require care and repair.

  • Installing shingles
  • Arrangement of valley, ribs, ridge, domed roofs, junctions and penetrations
  • Shinglas with different color codes cannot be used on the roof of the same building.

    Mixing tiles from 5-6 packages will help to avoid visible differences in color shades of different parts of the roof covering (if this is not done, then subtle differences in color tones may be visible on the finished roof).

    IN cold weather(at outside temperatures below 5-10 degrees) Shinglas must be stored in a warm place for at least 24 hours before installation. The room temperature should be no lower than 20 degrees, and no more than 5-6 packages should be taken out into the cold at a time. The following packages can be delivered to the roof only after the previous tiles have been laid.

    Self-adhesive strips on asphalt shingles need to be warmed up in cold weather. A hair dryer is used for this purpose.

    Fastening ordinary tiles

    Fig. 12 (diagram of fastening sheets with nails)

    Sheets of shingles on the slope are attached to the continuous decking with roofing nails that are resistant to corrosion. These nails with a wide head are driven in in such a way that the head does not go deep into the surface of the tile sheet, either directly or obliquely. The bottom edge of the cap should be exactly in line with the surface of the shingle (see top image in Figure 12).

    The required number of nails depends on the angle of inclination of the slopes, as well as on the SHINGLAS collection and the shape of the tiles. The recommended position of nails for different Shinglas series is shown in Fig. 12.

    Important: flexible tiles of the JAZZ and COUNTRY series are mounted with an overlap, so at the junction two adjacent sheets are fixed with one nail. To correctly determine the location of fixation, you should focus on the installation line, which is present on the outer surface of the tiles of these series (this line is applied during the manufacturing process of the roofing material).

    For fastening roofing sheets The CONTINENT series only fits long nails with a wide head (4.5 centimeters long).

    Installation of the starting strip

    The material for the starting strip is selected depending on the SHINGLAS series. Some collections use this for this purpose. ridge-eaves tiles, and in others - a standard private.

    Universal ridge-eave tiles do not require cutting and are laid with the adhesive side down on top of the waterproofing lining material with a distance of 10-20 millimeters from the bend of the eaves strip. The longer the roof slope and the greater the angle of its inclination, the wider this indentation should be.

    Fig.13

    The starting strip for Shinglas with the cutting shape of Chord, Beaver Tail, Sonata or Trio is made from ordinary tile sheets, from which the petals are cut. On the bottom side, the entire surface of the strip, with the exception of the adhesive layer, is covered with a layer of mastic, after which it is glued in exactly the same way as described above.

    For a soft roof with Continent and Dragon Tooth cutting, the starting strip is made from shingles of ordinary tiles without cutting off the petals.

    Laying the first and subsequent rows of Shinglas

    It is recommended to lay soft roofing sheets starting from the middle of the slope. This makes it easier to level the shingles, especially on long slopes. The first row of tiles starts from the starting strip with a gap of 10-20 millimeters between it and the lower edge of the roofing sheets.

    The next rows are laid from bottom to top diagonally.

    Features of installation of ordinary tiles depending on the cut shape are shown in Fig. 14 and 15.

    Continent

    The second row is laid from the middle of the slope with a shift in one direction or another by the width of half the petal. Installation can be carried out from the center of the ramp in any direction - to the right or to the left.

    The lower edge of the petals, after fixing the second row of tiles with nails, should coincide with the upper edge of the cutouts in the previous row.

    In the same way, with a shift of half a petal and alignment with the cutouts of the previous row, the third row of shingles and all subsequent ones are laid.

    Soft roofing Shinglas from famous manufacturer TECHNONICOL is one of the modern bitumen materials with high performance characteristics. Its advantages include durability and attractive appearance, heat and sound insulation properties, tightness of the installed coating and its resistance to external influences. Installation of soft roofing Shinglas can be done on our own- this is facilitated by the light weight of the material and the absence of the need for specialized tools.

    Flexible tiles Shinglas

    Structure and properties of the material

    SHINGLAS roofing material is produced in the form of shingles with a figured edge - “petals”, which form a characteristic texture of the flooring, imitating a tiled roof covering and giving the building an original appearance.

    The basis of the Shinglas material is a tear-resistant canvas made of fiberglass, resistant to temperature changes, moisture and biological destruction. On both sides, a layer of modified bitumen is applied to the reinforcing base, which is capable of not losing elasticity at low temperatures. This ensures the Shinglas roofing coating is resistant to cracking in frosts and sudden changes in temperature.

    Structure of flexible Shinglas tiles

    External covering made of painted basalt chips with a binder composition, which protects bitumen from external influences and gives an aesthetic appearance to the flooring. The pigments used in the manufacture of Shinglas bitumen shingles are quite resistant to ultraviolet rays.

    On bottom part A special adhesive composition is applied to the shingles, making it convenient to install the sheet material on the prepared base. A special film protects the adhesive layer from contact with other shingles during storage and transportation; the film is removed during installation of the coating. The adhesive layer allows you to attach the shingles and seals the coating, retains its elasticity in cold weather, and its properties do not change over the years.

    Principles of calculation

    On preparatory stage you should calculate the required amount of material for arranging the roof. The easiest way to calculate the total coverage area is to sum up the area simple figures, into which any roof can be divided, regardless of the complexity of its shape.

    The area of each of the figures (rectangles, isosceles trapezoids, triangles) is calculated using standard geometric formulas. The material will be required not only for the external flooring, but also for arranging various junctions and installing the lining layer. It is necessary to calculate the length of the cornices, ridge, valleys, abutments to skylights, pipes and other structures, ends.

    The materials also required for the installation of Shinglas flexible tiles include:

    • polymer-bitumen mastic, intended for gluing bitumen-based materials to various types of surfaces;
    • roofing nails for flexible tiles (galvanized);
    • metal roofing elements - eaves, windshield, adjoining strips, equipped with an anti-corrosion coating;
    • self-adhesive lining materials - with a polyester base and external protective and decorative topping, baseless with an external reinforcing protective film;
    • underlay carpets (designed for mechanical fixation) - with a polyester base and non-slip polypropylene coating, with the effect of self-tightening of the fastening holes, as well as a carpet with double-sided mineral sprinkling;
    • valley carpet - a polyester base, the bitumen layer is equipped with basalt topping, designed for waterproofing complex roof components;
    • ventilation elements.

    Scheme for laying soft tiles

    The consumption of tiles depends on the type of cutting of the petals. The packaging indicates effective area material (including overlaps). The waste of flexible tiles can range from 5 to 15% depending on the shingle configuration.

    For 1 m2 of Shinglas roofing, about 80 g of roofing nails are consumed. Installation of a valley carpet requires the use of mastic in a ratio of 400 g per 1 linear meter. For the end parts you will need 100 g per 1 running meter; to seal the junctions, 750 g of mastic per 1 running meter is required.

    Important! To prevent the carpet from swelling and unattractive stains from forming, solvents should not be added to the mastic; the material should be applied in a layer no thicker than 1 mm.

    Preparing the base

    The technology for laying Shinglas material involves the arrangement of a continuous sheathing. To do this on rafter system install decking from edged boards High Quality or sheet material - plywood, OSB-3. Sheet material laid staggered to avoid joints of the four corners, fastened with self-tapping screws or rough nails. The boardwalk is installed with a gap of up to 5 mm between the elements. A gap of 3-5 mm is also required if work on fastening the sheathing is carried out in winter - in the future it compensates for the thermal expansion of the material.

    Installation of soft SHINGLAS roofs
    Attention! If the edged board for continuous sheathing is not calibrated, it should be sorted by thickness in order to be laid with a smooth change in size. The height difference between adjacent base elements should not exceed 2 mm.

    When installing flooring from boards, pay attention to the annual rings: their convex side should be facing up. It is recommended to use well-dried lumber. If the wood is damp, each edge of the board is secured with two self-tapping screws.

    Before installation, wooden roof elements are treated with a fire-retardant compound to ensure that the structure lasts as long as possible.

    Roof ventilation

    For normal functioning roofing system with a coating of bituminous shingles, Shinglas should be well ventilated over the entire area. Ventilation is arranged in such a way that there are no areas with stagnant air in the roof space. Moisture accumulates in the “dead zones,” which provokes the development of rot in the wood and the accumulation of moisture in the insulation.

    Ventilation arrangement

    The gap between the waterproofing and the sheathing must be ventilated. For this purpose, there are holes located at the eaves (after installation of the roofing they are covered with soffits) and exhaust holes at the ridge. The cross-section of the hood is made 10-15% larger than the cross-section of the ventilation hole in order to create a difference in pressure and ensure effective draft. The size of the ventilation duct depends on the slope of the roof - the smaller the angle, the wider the duct should be.

    Preparing for installation of roof decking

    A number of works are carried out before laying flexible tiles, since the Shinglas soft roof installation technology involves laying shingles after installing the strips and arranging the junctions.

    Cornice. A drip strip is mounted on the edge of the eaves overhang, it is installed edgewise along the edge of the base and fixed with nails at intervals of about 130 cm, with the exception of the joints - there the fasteners are located at intervals of 20-30 mm.

    Lining layer. To prepare the base for laying Shinglas roofing material, it is necessary to waterproof the surface, as well as all joints and abutments of structures. For this purpose, a special lining carpet, self-adhesive bitumen sheet, bitumen mastic, nails.

    Drip line for soft roofing

    When the slope slope is 12-18 degrees, self-adhesive sheets are attached in the valleys and on the eaves bitumen material, preferably solid, without joints. If this is not possible, lay shingles with cut-off tabs and glue them onto mastic with an overlap of at least 300 mm. On the cornice there should be a gap of 20-30 mm between the lining strip and the drip bar. The remaining free surface is covered with a lining carpet. The strips of material are mounted from bottom to top with a longitudinal overlap of 150 mm and a transverse overlap of 100 mm. For fastening, nails are used, the installation step of fastening elements is 200-250 mm.

    If the slope slope is more than 18 degrees, additional waterproofing layer installed only in places with an increased risk of leaks. These include:

    • Cornices. A self-adhesive bitumen sheet is laid along the eaves; its width should exceed the width of the overhang by 600 mm.
    • Endovy. The same self-adhesive material is attached with an overhang of 50 cm on each slope. If there is no solid sheet, the overlaps should be at least 300 mm, they should be filled with bitumen.
    • Ventilation outlets. Mount a 100x100 mm square of lining carpet, securing it with nails in the corners and in increments of 200-250 mm.

    Then the cornice strips are installed - they are placed on top of the lining layer and secured with nails with a spacing of fastening points of 100-150 mm. The end strips are mounted according to the same principle. Metal scissors are suitable for cutting parts.

    The instructions for installing Shinglas will help you create a durable and aesthetically attractive coating. For roofing, it is advisable to use bitumen shingles from the same batch to avoid sharp changes tones within one roof slope. If material with the same color code is used, but from different batches, shingles from different packages must be mixed together before installing. This will make it possible to avoid noticeable color imbalance.

    Note! To ensure that the shingles can be easily separated from each other, the entire stack of sheets should be slightly bent and then shaken before opening the package.

    When installing Shinglas roofing in the cold season ( outside temperature below +5°C), the packaged material must be stored in a warm room. Before gluing the shingle, its adhesive layer is heated with a construction hairdryer.

    During the installation of Shingles, the material has to be trimmed. This should be done using cutting tool with a sharp blade and a board that is placed under the top shingle so as not to damage the bottom one.

    Performing trimming

    The installation manual for asphalt shingles states that the material should be stored out of direct sunlight to prevent the adhesive layer from bonding to the protective film. It is prohibited to stack pallets with packages on top of each other, so as not to compress the protective film and adhesive layer into a single monolith.

    Important! The roof covering softens in hot weather and it is easy to leave marks on it when working on the roof. To prevent this from happening, special “holes” or mats made of plant fiber are used.

    We install ordinary tiles

    Each shingle of ordinary tiles is secured with roofing nails at four points (for roofs with slopes up to 45°) or six points (for slopes with slopes over 45°). It is important to drive the nails at right angles, without recessing the head - it should remain in the same plane as the attached shingle. The distance from the edge to the fastener is 2-3 cm.

    The installation of ordinary tiles begins with the installation of a starting strip - this can be ridge-eaves tiles or ordinary shingles with cut-off petals. The strip should be laid 1-2 cm above the bend of the cornice strips, and the longer the slope and the steeper the slope, the larger the indentation.

    Next, install the bottom row of shingles. If the slope is not long, you can start from the corner. But it’s more convenient to start from the middle to make it easier to align the row. Pay attention to the junction of the bottom row of shingles - it should not be at the junction of the starting strip parts.

    Installation process of SHINGLAS soft tiles

    Shinglas flexible tiles are installed in diagonal ascending stripes (pyramid) or vertical stripes. The elements of the second row are mounted starting from the middle of the slope, shifting the shingles by half a blade compared to the first row. The bottom edge of the top shingle tab should rest on the top edge of the bottom shingle cutout. The third row is laid with an offset to the same half of the petal, and in the same direction.

    To securely fix the outer shingles, they are coated with back side bitumen-polymer mastic to a width of 10 cm from the edge. In order for moisture to flow better over the surface, their upper corners are cut off by 2-3 cm. Having completed the installation of ordinary tiles, proceed to attaching the ridge.

    Conclusion

    Using the installation recommendations, you can independently perform roofing decking from modern material SHINGLAS. To avoid damaging the roof during operation, use tools without sharp working parts to clear snow.
