Safety precautions

1. General Provisions

1.1. Occupational safety instructions for the cleaning operator Wastewater is the main document establishing for workers the rules of behavior at work and the requirements for the safe performance of work.

1.2. Knowledge of the Labor Safety Instructions is mandatory for workers of all categories and skill groups, as well as their immediate supervisors.

1.4. Each worker must:

  • comply with the requirements of these Instructions;

  • remember personal responsibility for failure to comply with safety requirements;

2. General requirements security

2.1. To work on this working profession Persons at least 18 years of age who have passed a preliminary medical examination and have no contraindications to perform the above work are allowed.

2.2. When hired, a worker must undergo induction training. Before admission to independent work the worker must pass:

  • initial training at the workplace;
  • testing knowledge of this Labor Safety Instruction;
  • the current Instructions for providing first aid to victims in connection with accidents when servicing power equipment; on the use of protective equipment necessary for the safe performance of work;
  • Safety and health regulations for workers who have the right to prepare the workplace, carry out admissions, be a work performer, an observer and a member of the team to the extent corresponding to the duties responsible persons PTB;
  • training in professional training programs.

2.3. Admission to independent work is issued by the relevant order on structural unit enterprises,

2.5. Workers who do not pass the knowledge test within the established time limits are not allowed to work independently.

2.6. During the work process, the worker must undergo:

  • repeated briefings - at least once a quarter;
  • testing knowledge of labor safety instructions and the current Instructions for providing first aid to victims in connection with accidents when servicing power equipment once a year;
  • medical examination - once every two years;
  • knowledge testing on occupational safety and health regulations for workers who have the right to prepare a workplace, carry out admissions, be a work performer, a supervisor or a member of a team - once a year.

2.7. Persons who received an unsatisfactory assessment during the qualification test are not allowed to work independently and must undergo a re-test no later than one month.

In case of violation of safety rules, depending on the nature of the violation, an unscheduled briefing or an extraordinary knowledge test should be carried out.

2.8. In the event of an accident, the worker is obliged to provide first aid to the victim before arrival medical personnel. In the event of an accident with the worker himself, depending on the severity of the injury, he must apply for medical care to a health center or to provide first aid to yourself (self-help).

2.9. Each employee must know the location of the first aid kit and be able to use it.

2.10. If faulty devices, tools and protective equipment are detected, the worker informs his immediate supervisor.

2.14. To protect against exposure to dangerous and harmful factors, it is necessary to use appropriate protective equipment. When working with sulfuric acid, it is necessary to use: a suit made of acid-proof fabric, a rubberized apron, rubber acid-alkali-resistant boots and gloves, acid-proof mittens, sealed safety goggles or a plexiglass shield, filtering gas masks of grade B (filter box yellow color), BKF (filter box of protective color with a white vertical stripe), M (filter box of red color) or hose gas masks PSh-1, PSh-2.

When working with liquid chlorine, it is necessary to use: sealed safety glasses, rubber gloves, a rubberized apron, rubber shoes; for protection against chlorine gas vapors (in case of an accident), a filter gas mask of grade B (yellow filter box) or BKF (protective color filter box with a white vertical stripe).

When working with caustic sodium, it is necessary to use: a cotton suit, alkali-resistant, safety glasses, acid-alkali-resistant rubber gloves, a rubberized apron and acid-alkali-resistant rubber boots.

When working with aqueous ammonia, it is necessary to use: an alkali-resistant cotton suit, acid-alkali-resistant rubber gloves, sealed safety goggles, a rubberized apron, acid-alkali-resistant rubber boots, KD filter gas masks (filter box gray or gray with a white vertical stripe) or M (red filter box).

When working with sodium hypochlorite individual means protection is the same as when working with chlorine.

2.15. The operator must work in special clothing and use protective equipment issued in accordance with current industry standards.

2.16. The operator should be given the following tools free of charge in accordance with industry standards: personal protection:

  • cotton suit with water-repellent impregnation (for 12 months);
  • rubber boots (on duty);
  • combination mittens (for 2 months);
  • rubber gloves (duty);
  • respirator (until wear);
  • coarse-wool or acid-alkali-resistant suit - (on duty);
  • safety glasses - (until wear);
  • rubberized apron (for 6 months).

When issuing a double replacement set of workwear, the wear period is doubled.

Depending on the nature of the work and the conditions of its production, the operator should be temporarily provided with additional special clothing and protective equipment for these conditions.

3. Safety requirements before starting work

3.1. Before accepting a shift, the operator must:

  • put your work clothes in order. Sleeves and tails of overalls should be fastened with all buttons, and hair should be tucked under the helmet. Clothes must be tucked in so that there are no dangling ends or flapping parts. Shoes must be closed and low heeled. It is prohibited to roll up the sleeves of workwear;
  • walk around the serviced equipment along a certain route, check the safe condition of the equipment;
  • check and make sure it is working properly supply and exhaust ventilation, absence of vapors of aggressive liquids;
  • check at the workplace the availability and serviceability of duty protective clothing and other protective equipment, neutralizing solutions, tools, electric flashlights, fire extinguishing equipment, posters or safety signs;

4. Safety requirements during operation

4.1. The operator must carry out walk-throughs and inspections of equipment, allow maintenance personnel to work, as well as perform routine work with the knowledge and permission of superior duty personnel.

  • jump or climb over pipelines (to shorten the route). You should only cross pipelines in places where there are walkways;
  • move in an unlit area without a flashlight;

  • lean and stand on platform barriers, railings, coupling and bearing safety covers, walk on pipelines, as well as on structures and ceilings that are not intended for passage over them and do not have special handrails and fences;
  • be near water indicator glasses, as well as near shut-off and safety valves and flange connections of pipelines under pressure, unless this is caused by production necessity.

4.3. It is prohibited to operate mechanisms or devices in the absence or malfunction of the fencing devices.

4.4. It is prohibited to clean near machinery without safety guards or with loose guards.

4.5. Do not clean, wipe or lubricate rotating or moving parts of mechanisms, or put your hands behind the guard for lubrication or cleaning.

4.6. It is prohibited to repair equipment without acceptance preventive measures against including him in the work ( engine start, water supply, etc.).

4.7. When cleaning running machines, it is forbidden to wind the cleaning material around the hand or fingers.

4.8. When starting rotating machinery, keep a safe distance from them.

4.9. When pouring water on the control keys, they should be operated with dielectric gloves.

4.10. During operation, the operator must ensure that protective (enclosing) casings are securely fastened to flange connections and pipelines installed on equipment in circuits with aggressive and toxic substances, because greatest number accidents are due to the release of acids and alkalis through flange connections and poor quality welds on pressure pipelines.

4.11. If faulty pipeline fittings are found, it is necessary to report this to your higher duty personnel.

It is forbidden for the apparatchik to arbitrarily replace the glands of the pipeline fittings.

4.12. The operator must use in his work only lifting mechanisms, to which he is admitted and on which the inventory number, load capacity and date of the next technical examination are indicated. Slings used during work must have a tag or stamp on which the sling number, its load capacity and the test date must be indicated.

It is prohibited to use lifting mechanisms with an expired inspection date, as well as slings that do not have tags or stamps.

Slings with torn strands, burns, dents, twists and other damage should not be used for lifting loads.

When lifting a load, in order to avoid the slings falling out of the hook mouth, the latter must be closed with a lock.

Ropes or chains must be applied evenly to the load being lifted, without knots or twists.

Before lifting, the load must be raised to a height of no more than 300 mm to check the correctness of the sling and the uniform tension of the slings; only after this the load should be lifted to the required height; To correct an incorrect line, the load must be lowered.

It is prohibited to leave the load hanging. In the event of a malfunction of the mechanism, when the load cannot be lowered, the area under the suspended load must be fenced off and prohibitory posters or safety signs posted.

It is prohibited to move goods in insufficient lighting of the workplace.

4.13. When performing work using a shovel, you should pay attention to the strength of the handle in the holder. The cuttings should be smooth.

The crowbars used in the work must be straight with drawn and pointed ends.

4.14. The dimensions of the jaw (grip) of the wrenches used should not exceed the dimensions of the edges of the tightened elements (bolt heads, nuts) by more than 0.3 mm. If there is a gap between the planes of the jaws and the heads of bolts or nuts, the use of any gaskets is not allowed.

4.16. Glass containers (bottles, flasks, flasks), both empty and filled with samples or chemical reagents, should be carried in a special box with cells or in a bucket.

4.17. Bottles with aggressive substances should be transported over short distances within the workplace in baskets with two handles by at least two people after a preliminary check of the strength of the handles and the bottom of the basket.

4.18. Concentrated acids and alkalis should be stored in glass bottles with ground stoppers, the stoppers are tied to the neck of the bottles. Bottles are stored in separate room, they are installed on the floor in baskets or wooden laths. The necks of the bottles must have labels with the inscription.

4.19. Spilled acids and alkalis should be covered with sand, then the sand should be removed from the room and only after neutralization should be cleaned. Neutralization is carried out with a solution of soda ash.

4.20. If acid gets on the skin or eyes, immediately wash it off with a plentiful stream of water, then rinse with a 1% solution of baking soda, and then report the incident to the shift supervisor.

4.21. In case of contact with the skin or eyes of alkali, it must be washed off with a plentiful stream of water and rinsed with a three percent solution of boric acid.

4.22. Before and during work in an underground structure or in a tank, natural or forced ventilation must be provided.

Ventilation with oxygen is prohibited.

If natural or forced ventilation does not provide complete removal harmful substances, descent into an underground structure or reservoir is permitted only in a hose gas mask.

4.23. It is prohibited to work in underground structures or tanks when the water level in them is more than 200 mm (above floor level), as well as when the water temperature is above 45°C.

If there is water (liquid medium), you must use rubber shoes.

4.24. Works inside underground structures or tanks, as well as periodic inspections of them should be carried out as part of a team of three people, of which two people should be at the hatch and monitor the condition of the working gas mask and the air intake pipe.

4.25. Flange connections pipelines intended for supplying caustic liquids (solutions of acids and alkalis) must be covered with metal casings.

4.26. Pipelines, pumps and other equipment operating under pressure must be equipped with working pressure gauges with a maximum pressure mark.

4.27. If fistulas are detected in pipelines or tanks (reservoirs) with caustic substances, the operator must immediately inform the shift supervisor, identify a dangerous area, stop all work in it, remove personnel from it, fence off this area and post safety signs “No Trespassing”, “Danger” ! 4.28. Smoking on premises treatment facilities permitted only in specially designated areas.

4.29. The admission of repair personnel to work must be carried out by the operator at the brigade’s workplace. Together with the manager and the workman, he must check the readiness of the equipment for repair, paying attention to Special attention on the reliability of its drainage and shutdown.

5. Safety requirements upon completion of work

5.1. At the end of the shift, the operator must:

Characteristics of work. Conducting processes for purifying industrial wastewater or radioactive water from impurities and capturing valuable substances for use in the technological process using methods of sedimentation, filtration, neutralization, etc. Preparation of reagents: soda, milk of lime, caustic soda, dosing and loading them into devices or pools, depending on the quantity and composition of incoming wastewater. Regeneration of ion exchange filters. Carrying out control analyzes for the completeness of wastewater treatment, monitoring and regulating the treatment process according to the readings of instrumentation and analysis results. Identification and elimination of malfunctions in the operation of equipment and communications. Preparing equipment for repair, receiving it from repair. Conducting the process of ion exchange purification or biochemical oxidation of wastewater under the guidance of a more highly qualified operator.

Evaporation of radioactive water in evaporation plants. Preparation of reagents: resin, magnesite, ammonia, acid, etc., dosing and loading them into devices depending on the quantity and composition of incoming wastewater. Carrying out the processes of separating ammonia from tar water in an ammonia column, stripping volatile ammonia and decomposing bound ammonia in a reactor. Reception of wastewater into ion exchange filters or aeration tanks. Monitoring the intensity of aeration and the filtration process. Regulation of the technological process of sorption (purification) of radioactive waters. Regeneration of resins and oils. Regulating the dosage and feed rate of chemicals during the resin regeneration process. Washing resins from the regenerating solution and preparing them for the next cycle. Monitoring and regulation of oxygen supply through aeration tanks, the amount of wastewater, the content of toxic substances, the degree of wastewater purification, the amount of foam on the surface of the water in aeration tanks, the concentration of alkali and acid solutions using instrumentation and analysis results.
