How to manage everything around the house if you work: advice from a housewife-businesswoman. How to manage everything and live life to the fullest: practical advice

Zhanna Migunova

The pace of human life is accelerating century by century. Nowadays, distribute your free time That's right - it's a whole science. Home, work, family, friends - where to find time for all this and not develop chronic fatigue syndrome? And yet you need to remember that “embracing the immensity” still won’t work; it’s impossible to keep up with everything. It’s worth doing everything as needed own strength. However, for those who do not tolerate compromises and struggle with lack of time in every possible way, there are several tips.

Start by planning your day. Make a mental schedule, or better yet, record it in a special diary.

Do not think that a diary is a thing only needed by businessmen and people who work in an office. Your diary is your faithful assistant in the fight for free minutes. It will help you not to forget about important matters and “filter out” the less significant ones. Next to each item on the list of necessary things to do, write the day, month or hour by which you plan to finish it. Such self-limitation in time will discipline and encourage you to fulfill your obligations on time.

Start your day on time. An extra 5-10 minutes spent in bed will not help you get enough sleep. But the time for getting ready will increase significantly. After all, in the morning rush you often forget at home mobile phone or a diary, which makes working for the whole day much more difficult. Better yet, get ready for work ahead of time. In the evening, put the things you need in your purse, prepare a suit or shoes.

To ensure that routine work does not discourage any desire to do it, add a little “drive” to it. If possible, turn on fun, energetic music, ventilate the room, shake yourself up and get to work! Of course, in the case of office work the music may not be entirely appropriate. But, if your boss doesn’t mind, enjoy energizing music through headphones. However, try not to get carried away, keeping in mind your main job.

Arrangement of objects.

Handle the arrangement of objects in the apartment correctly. Try to keep documents and work files that accidentally end up in your home in a separate place so as not to look for a receipt for half a day’s electricity payment. The same goes for your office workspace. Keep your desk tidy, don’t throw papers in one pile, and you can name your folders to make them easier to navigate.

Housework.

Daily Homework should not become the prerogative of one person. Involve your household members in your home cleanup activities.

This will help you get rid of the eternal mother complex: I spend little time with my child. Of course, their help will not be so much significant as it will be useful for themselves. Your kids should learn to help their mother. In addition, while washing dishes and peeling potatoes, you can chat with your child, find out what worries him, how things are at school.

Time sinks.

The biggest time sinks are TV and the Internet. If you really want to spend your time correctly, then from daily viewing of TV series, talk shows, etc. will have to refuse. You can reserve the right to watch television series on weekends, but without getting carried away, for an hour and a half a day. But you should stop using the World Wide Web for personal purposes at work as soon as possible. Firstly, then you will have time to cope with your job responsibilities. And secondly, it is worth remembering that not every boss will have a positive attitude towards such use of the corporate network.

And if you have set yourself some difficult task (learn foreign language, learning to play the guitar or cross stitch), break this big task into several days. Set aside time in the day that you could regularly devote to this new activity for you.

Julius Caesar method

Next tip a little more difficult to perform. It can be called the method of Julius Caesar. Try to automate as much as possible the process of performing those functions that become daily for you. So, for example, don’t get hung up on cleaning the room, washing the dishes, or, say, photocopying papers. While performing these operations, think through your next “steps”, which require more attention and focus from you. But with this parallel mode, do not accidentally put sugar instead of salt in the pan, and still keep one eye on what document you are printing now.

Rest is important.

And most importantly, allow your body to rest at least a little. Sometimes you really wish there were not 24 hours in a day, but more. But remember that your human power is not limitless. Rest is an important component of any working day. Thank yourself for the time spent productively during working week. Once a month, allow yourself to visit the theater or ballet. Despite the fact that this will require a considerable investment of time, after such an event you will feel rested and recharged. Such is the beneficial and magical effect of culture! For the weekend, plan to relax actively: go to the forest with your family, go to the pool with a friend. Such a vacation will give you more pleasure and benefit than just “laying back” on the couch. By resting, you lay the foundation for new achievements and victories.

The effectiveness of the working day is assessed by the results obtained, that is, by what a person managed to do. It’s not always possible to do everything – the problem may lie either in the fact that you demand too much from yourself or in the irrational use of time resources. To get more done, learn to act in accordance with a few tips.

Planning

Proper planning is not even half of it, it is almost 100% of success. The maximum that people usually limit themselves to is making a to-do list for the day or week. However, it is also important to take into account the time you will spend. If with tasks that you rarely perform, indicate exact time It doesn’t always work out, then the daily routine is quite measurable. Track how much time it takes you to complete regular tasks and look for ways you can reduce it.

It often happens that some days of the week are so packed that there is no time to rest, while others are practically free. At this stage, it is necessary to distribute the load so that all days are occupied evenly.

To-do lists for the day and week with time stamps should always be in front of you so that there is no temptation to get distracted.

Time Eaters

You might be very surprised if you at least once analyze what time is spent on during the day: searching for keys that have fallen behind a cabinet, viewing unnecessary information on the Internet, turning over phrases in your head from yesterday’s dialogue with your boss... There are a million options for distraction, and all of them are successful are used to avoid doing what needs to be done. Therefore, by once recording on paper everything that is pointlessly wasting minutes and hours, and assessing the potential benefits of this time, you can eliminate significant gaps in planning.

Do it in advance

After analyzing which tasks may take more time than you planned or which you may encounter difficulties in completing, proceed to them. This increases the likelihood that you will complete the task on time and without unnecessary hassle.

Then there will be no time

Procrastinating is a common habit. And extremely harmful. After all, you can always find an “excuse” not to do anything. When you have a clear plan before your eyes, according to which both tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are scheduled, there will simply be nowhere to transfer unfulfilled tasks.

Delegation

To keep up with everything, it is necessary to correctly distribute responsibilities between team members (both at work and at home). Try to unload yourself as much as possible, leaving only the most important issues to resolve.

Add all new activities

Strange advice for a person who doesn’t have time to do anything anyway? No. The more you have to do, the more you'll get done.

Within the strict time limit, a person begins to act quickly and does not get distracted.

Everyone knows the diplomas written overnight, perfect order, set 15 minutes before guests arrive, etc. Therefore, if you have long wanted to take up a new hobby, just include it in your plan and you will see that you have time for it.

Order

When everything is in its place, work efficiency increases significantly. This is due not only to the fact that you don’t have to look for a lost folder, but also because the brain works better when there is no chaos around.

No need to be a perfectionist

This point is related to the previous one. Order is order, but you don't have to polish your parquet every day. Save time where you can. However, the statement does not apply to working moments, those where you really need to be the best, a professional. After all, in this case you will lose potential clients and possible profit.

Rest is no less important than work

Moreover, rest also needs to be included in the plan - plan not only the evening itself, but also write down everything that needs to be done to prepare it. After a good rest and time spent with pleasure, your energy for work will increase. Choose your relaxation options carefully. If you have a global work goal, then your vacation should be calm and relaxing. Alcoholic get-togethers are not your option; it will not only prevent you from relaxing, but will also take the whole next day out of your work.

Most important advice– understand why you need to do everything in time. Formulate the goal that stands before you, what will move you forward. Write it down on the first page of your diary.

This could be a lifelong goal or a goal for a period of time. But this is your main motivator, which will not allow you to stop. This point is the most important. It allows you to set priorities and understand what is worth spending time on and what does not deserve your attention at all.

To develop a habit, you need to repeat the same action for 21 days. If at the very beginning it is difficult for you to strictly adhere to the plan, then after 3 weeks it will become second nature.

Alena, Rostov the Great

It often happens that when you hear the alarm clock, you are in no hurry to get up, but think about lying down for at least another 5 or 10 minutes. As a result, you get ready in a hurry because you are already late, do not have time to have breakfast, and sometimes you may even forget something important at home. An extra few minutes spent in bed will not allow you to get enough sleep, but will only disrupt your morning routine, and the day will not go as you planned in the morning. It’s better to get up as soon as you wake up, and prepare your suit and shoes the night before and put everything you need in your bag.

To get things done faster, organize your workspace in the most optimal way. Starting with your desk, where all items should be arranged in order of need. For example, sort papers that may be mixed up in boxes so that you don’t have to look for them on occasion and waste precious time on it. Stationery, disks and flash drives - all this should be in its place. The same applies to the desktop on a computer. Organize files and shortcuts so that it is convenient for you to work with them. Set up your work environment so it doesn't distract you later.

Have you noticed how housework often drags on? You planned to finish cleaning in 30 minutes, but spent more than an hour on it. Add some drive. Boring household chores need to be done quickly and energetically, otherwise they can take away most of your free time. Turn on your favorite music, open a window or window and quickly do everything you set out to do. And, if possible, do not get distracted.

Distribute responsibilities between family members and entrust some work to your children. You will save time, and it will be useful for them, so they will not only learn how to do household chores, but also get used to responsibility. If you are doing something together, you can talk to your child at this time, find out how he is doing, what he is thinking about.

A lot of time is wasted on things like TV and the Internet. Every evening you spend a couple of hours watching talk shows or the news, and then move to the computer, where you can hang out until late in chat rooms or in social networks. Try to do this as little as possible. Without wasting your mental strength on empathizing with non-existent TV screen heroes, you can pay more attention to your loved ones, and they will also respond to you with care. The amount of free time you have may also pleasantly surprise you.

It is very important to allow yourself enough rest. Often, the time allotted for sleep is considered a kind of reserve that can be used to solve other problems. It’s better not to do this, because your body needs proper rest. Don't forget to relax, meet friends, and do your favorite things.

Time is one of the most valuable irreplaceable resources of our life. And at the same time, the art of taming time is the most difficult. But having learned to manage it, and, first of all, to distribute it competently, you will be able to accomplish several times more.

Visualize and prioritize

One of the fundamental principles of time planning is its visualization. No matter how phenomenal a memory you have, it is impossible to remember everything. Therefore, choose for yourself the most optimal way to record upcoming tasks: a diary, a notepad, individual landscape planners, electronic planners.

Write things down in order of priority. Try to complete the most urgent, difficult, unpleasant tasks at the beginning of the day. At this time, the level of concentration, composure and performance is highest. You will spend less time on labor-intensive tasks and will be relieved to realize that the hardest part is over, and you will be happy to continue your work day doing easier tasks.

Be realistic about your strengths

In addition to describing the task, include a realistic time period required to complete it. By driving yourself into an unrealistic framework, you will not only not have time to complete the planned task, but will also delay the completion of everyone else. It’s better to take plenty of time, but be on time, than to live in emergency mode.

One of the features of life is that things always don’t turn out the way we imagine. Therefore, you should plan only 60% of the available time, and leave the remaining 40% in reserve, so to speak, for “unforeseen expenses.”

Don't forget that you are not a robot, and you definitely need rest. And it also needs to be fit into your daily routine. After every hour and a half of intense work, take five minutes to collect your thoughts, distract yourself, warm up, etc. Give yourself a full lunch break. At this time, it is better to change the situation - go outside, move away from, lie down and let yourself relax. By taking time and rest, you will be able to work productively throughout the day.

Divide complex tasks and get rid of unnecessary tasks

Divide your time planning into long-term and current. In the long term, describe your plans for the next week, month, year. Based global challenges, plan your day. Large tasks should be divided into smaller subtasks. This way you will know exactly how to achieve this or that goal, what you need to do for this, and when you will accomplish it.

The hardest thing about planning is getting rid of time wasters. Gather all your willpower and say a decisive “no” to work time communicating on social networks, looking at photographs, talking on, etc. All this is after work.

The frantic pace of life, a lot of things to do and responsibilities, responsibility, study, work - this is what a modern person has to deal with every day, especially for those who want to achieve new heights and better results.

That’s why talking about how to keep up with everything will be very helpful. This article will be useful for a student and a manager, a mother with children, a freelancer, a loader in a warehouse and a businessman, and even someone who is still in school. Everything you learn about will help you put your affairs and personal life in order, stop being a squirrel in a wheel of endless rush jobs and deadlines, learn to build your day and even your life so that there is time for everything, and you at the same time felt full of energy and energy. Let's start!

In general, the question of how to manage to get everything done is quite extensive. Answering this question, we can say a lot of interesting things. But we will limit ourselves to three main sections:

  • The first section will be devoted to personal time management
  • Second section – daily routine
  • The third section is about useful life hacks for everyday use.

Lyrical introductions are already unnecessary here, so let’s get down to business right away.

Personal time management

As we all have known for a long time, time is the most valuable resource we have (besides health, of course). But we cannot reverse time, which is why its value increases significantly.

Any person has every right to distribute his time not only as he wants, but also in such a way that it has practical benefits. However, some people manage to do all the important things and still leave time for rest and entertainment, while others do not have time to do anything and cannot afford to relax. Why, because everyone has 24 hours in a day, and 60 minutes in a watch?!

And the answer is simple to the point of banality - people who do not have time to do anything completely do not know how (or do not want) to manage their time. In the literal sense, of course, you won’t be able to manage time, but everyone can learn to use it rationally (and manage it in this sense). There's even a reason for this special discipline- time management.

Time management is the accounting and planning of time. In our case (since we are talking about personal time), this is accounting and planning of our personal precious time resource. Thanks to them, we can structure our work and non-work time with amazing ease. But the even greater magic of time management is that you can work not “out there somewhere,” but right now - arranging things for days and weeks in the right order.

Many people believe that time management is the prerogative of managers or executives, but this is not at all true. It is useful and easy to master not only at work, but also at home. Time management will help a young mother manage to keep an eye on her child and keep herself in check. in great shape(in fact, this applies to people with children in general), it will allow the student to have time to prepare for the session without compromising meetings with friends and romantic dates, and it will give the student at school the opportunity to do his homework and play football in the yard.

To put it simply, time management will benefit anyone who wants to get their studies, work, life, and even relationships with people around them in order; who wants to become more efficient, productive and successful.

If you want to know how to get everything done, you need to understand main principle time management. According to him, time should be measured not in minutes and hours, but in events and actions. It is this original perception of time that will give you a feeling of fullness in life and an understanding of how to live for your own benefit.

Make it a rule to spend your time and energy on what you really need: what leads to success, moves you towards your goal, expands your boundaries. We also recommend mastering three useful skills:

  • Learn to prioritize (read our articles “” and “”)
  • Learn to set goals correctly (you can find out how this is done in our articles “” and “”)
  • Learn to plan competently (we talked about this in our articles “”, “”, “” and “”)

Well, in conclusion, here’s what American motivational speaker, time management guru and self-development expert Brian Tracy thinks about how to keep up with everything.

Schedule

Planning your day is the first step to successful time management. You won't find any outstanding person, business coach or successful public figure who would not plan his day.

If you are already creating at least some kind of schedule for the coming day, this is commendable. But your task is to learn how to masterfully create a daily routine, and do it seven days a week. And this does not mean that from now on you will become a “slave of the diary.” In fact, you will get rid of multitasking, procrastination, meaningless and unproductive activities.

Of course, it is advisable to record things, tasks, meetings, plans and goals on paper or, following modern trends, in the planner of your favorite gadget. By taking notes and constantly referring to them, you will always keep your worries within reach of your attention, and you will not forget about anything. In addition, leftover tasks can become unfinished gestalts - something that will not give you peace until you do it.

Another important point in creating a daily routine is the distribution of tasks into more and less important ones. This will help you a lot, which will be useful at school, at college, at work, and in your personal life. Don't forget to also write down the time when you need to complete a particular task. You will stop thinking about how to get everything done, because you will simply do everything in order and in your own time.

And a few more tips to help you stick to your plan:

  • Try to start and end each day at the same time (read about). If you get up earlier, you will start your day more productively and have more time; if you go to bed at 4 am, you will sleep until lunch or not get enough sleep. What's better? Of course, the first one. And if you accustom your body to the regime of an effective person (there is even one), it will thank you with cheerfulness and energy, and you yourself will be able to move mountains!
  • Remember: order at home means order in your head, order in the workplace means order in your affairs. Try to keep absolutely everything in order: your home, car, clothes, work space. Firstly, when all things are in their place, they are easy to find, and secondly, by surrounding yourself with order, you will automatically bring everything you deal with into the system, and this will allow you to better understand the same matters. And thirdly, putting things in order is a kind of meditation: by tidying up, you stabilize your mental condition and organize your thoughts.
  • Get rid of as many distractions as possible. TV, social networks, telephone conversations wasting is good and helps to unwind, but everything should be in moderation. Before you once again devote time to some nonsense, think: is it worth it? Do you really need this? Perhaps there are more important and interesting things to do?
  • Form the right habits. Habits are actions that have become automatic. You already know how it works - just think about what you do automatically and constantly: tap your fingers on the table, chew on your pen, smoke, etc. Try to “catch yourself”, i.e. see what you do unconsciously that is not benefiting you, and replace it with healthy habits. For starters, you can learn how to do it every day.

Good habits are important at work, at school, in the family, in society, and in business. So don’t waste time and learn new skills that will make you and your life better, teach you how to manage everything and become happy.

Well, since we’re talking about skills, it’s time to move on to life hacks for people who want to learn how to manage their time. By by and large there is nothing so special about them, but, as you have probably noticed more than once, even the most banal things can “switch the switch” if they are presented intelligibly and competently.

Lifehacks to increase productivity

The reason for lack of time is not always the inability to manage this time. Very often a person simply does not have enough strength to accomplish everything he has planned. Even if you have amazing motivation, even if you are full of enthusiasm, even if your day is scheduled minute by minute - but what does it matter if your head is no longer cooking anything, when your brain refuses to serve you faithfully?

So much has already been said about how life modern man– these are endless streams of information, many events, and overwhelming stress. We will not go into lengthy reflections, but simply summarize: our performance tends to zero under the influence of all these factors. And to be able to live at all, you need to keep yourself and your health in order.

You probably know that, for example, a little chocolate helps lift your mood, increase vitality, and improve brain activity. So, eating a chocolate bar is already a life hack - a trick that allows you to become more effective. But we will not insist on chocolate, but will give some other tips.

Take breaks

Thinking about how to keep up with everything, many people begin to work tirelessly. But this is fundamentally wrong, because the brain (and the body in general) becomes overtired and performance decreases. Therefore, while working during the day, be sure to take breaks. Take some time to rest to give your brain a chance to rest, recover, and get back to normal. normal condition. Neglecting rest can knock anyone down, and even lead to serious illnesses. Don't forget this.

Have a productive rest

A logical continuation of the previous point: spend your leisure time so that thoughts about work fade into the background. You know the saying: “When you come to work, leave your home problems at home”? It’s the same here: during non-working hours, disconnect from work worries. Watch a movie, listen to music, play with your child, take a walk, do housework, but just leave your work alone - it won’t run away. Otherwise, you will not be able to relax even after two weeks of vacation, because... the brain simply won’t relax, which means you won’t rest either.

Get enough sleep

And again about rest - sleep as much as you should - about 7-8 hours a day. This time is optimal for proper rest and recuperation. Of course, it may be problematic for a young mother with children, a student before a session, or an always busy businessman to do this, but “beauty requires sacrifice.” How to have time to do everything - sleep normally. In addition, the morning, as they say, is wiser than the evening, and when you wake up, you can look at everything with a fresh head, including understanding when and what is best to do that day.

Eat right

Another component of the lifestyle of a productive person who always has time for everything is proper nutrition. The body must enter required amount vitamins, minerals and microelements that ensure its stable functioning. The brain “loves” potatoes, legumes, nuts, sugar and starch acceptable standards(in general, we have an article “” and even a whole course “”). Here we will say that you should not abuse food - overeat, but you can eat different ways, and if you are very interested, read about. By providing your body with all the necessary resources, you will be able to remain cheerful and active throughout the day, and how to manage everything will no longer be a problem for you.

To improve brain function and, accordingly, become a more productive and successful person, it is advisable to resort to aromatherapy and color therapy from time to time. In the first case, you simply buy yourself an aroma lamp and several types essential oils stimulating brain activity and intellectual activity, such as eucalyptus, lemon, basil, lavender, jasmine, rosemary or peppermint oils. In the second case, it is recommended to look at a certain color for several minutes during the day: red helps to cheer up, orange stimulates the production of joy hormones, yellow increases efficiency and perseverance, green gives optimism, blue activates thought processes, blue treats addictions, and purple has a positive effect on thoughts and emotions.

Work physically

If you really want to find time for everything, then include in this “everything” physical activity - an integral part of the life of any productive person. You can’t work with your head all the time, and sometimes you need to work with your hands. What about the arms – the legs, the shoulders and the whole body in general. Exercise in the morning, workout in the evening, installation work on weekends, football, hockey, boxing, tennis - any physical activity will do good. It improves blood circulation and metabolism, restores old neural connections and creates new ones, kneads joints and prevents the accumulation of salts and other substances in the body. harmful substances, including toxins. And during working hours, you can exercise or give yourself a head massage.

read books

Spend some time every day reading useful and interesting books. It is best to give yourself at least 30 minutes for this activity. While reading, a person is distracted, relaxes, and improves the performance of his brain. If you want to understand even better how to keep up with everything, you can find (buy or download) books on this topic. In addition, reading promotes better concentration, development of imagination, analytical and imaginative thinking, broadening one’s horizons, self-development and personal growth. Setting aside half an hour to read a book is easy, and if you add it to your to-do list, it will add another completed task to your list and you will feel good about yourself again.

Cut off the excess

Above, we almost always talked about useful things, including good habits, but said very little about the harmful ones. Let's fix it. Bad habits, especially those that cause addiction, not only often have a detrimental effect on health, but also take up the lion's share of time. Because of this, the amount of work that we could do decreases, efficiency decreases, and attention becomes unfocused. One thing clings to another, and instead of doing some important task, we go to the smoking room, run to the coffee machine, and quietly chew a bun. If you don’t want to harm your health and at the same time do more, stop with bad habits and spend more time on useful things.

Calculate your forces

To achieve more, do not try to embrace the immensity, i.e. Don’t take on more tasks than you can handle, otherwise you will be faced with an Everest of tasks that you will never climb even with the help of a hundred Sherpas. Any work process should also be optimized: follow the plan, don’t get distracted, let everything you need always be available. Look for opportunities to reduce time for completing simple tasks and performing habitual actions. Beware of the accumulation of unfinished tasks - do everything on time, do not put it off until later. If necessary, don't be embarrassed, ashamed or afraid to ask for help. Help is good in almost any matter. Delegate authority whenever possible.

Use gadgets

Modern mobile devices do not exist just to scroll through Instagram, take selfies and play Fruit Ninja. Laptops, tablets, smartphones, and iPhones have many functions designed to serve a person’s benefit. Multifunctional calendars, task planners, reminders, alarm clocks, e-readers etc. There are also a lot of cool applications that allow you to solve the problem of how to manage to do everything. Among them are Clear, Rescue Time, Wunderlist, Clara, Workflow, Trello, Timely, Pocket and others. So don’t turn your gadget into a tool for “sticking”, it’s better to make it an assistant, because it will help a student in learning, a student in class, a person with children, etc. Just think about how you can use the same smartphone wisely, and a lot of ideas will come to your mind.

Reward yourself

Motivation is the engine, but sometimes a person is exhausted because his actions do not give feedback. So what does it mean to cross things off your list every day? What is a small step towards a goal that you decided to achieve only in a year? Endless tasks can drain all your energy if you don't see progress. To motivate yourself when you feel like you're losing motivation, reward yourself. Do it yourself small gifts. You’ve completed all your tasks for the day early - go to the cinema, worked “without jambs” for a week and managed to do everything - go to the store and buy yourself a cool new jacket or boots that you’ve been wanting for a long time, passed the test - go snowboarding! You can come up with anything - if you have the desire. The main thing is to understand why you are doing anything at all. Find what inspires you and strive for it. Any job can bring joy and pleasure if you know how to ignite yourself to keep moving.

In fact, it’s not so much important how to do everything, but why to do it. Your own goals are your motivation. By any means, remind yourself what you want to achieve, what, why you are ready to get up at six in the morning and rush headlong to study, work, act, achieve. Learn to give up everything unnecessary and be sure, be sure to evaluate your every day. Only you can help yourself learn to do everything you need to do. We are simply showing one of the paths, and it’s up to you to decide whether to follow it or not.
