Microwave oven lg operating manual. LG microwave oven instructions. Quick defrosting of chickens

How to use a microwave oven without harming the device and your health? Not all users know the operating and safety rules of a microwave oven. Most people who buy smart household appliances prefer to master them on an intuitive level. But in vain: by reading the instructions, you can prevent many breakdowns.

What are microwaves

Many owners of microwave ovens are not aware of their operating principle and do not know how food is heated and defrosted in them. However, from the name itself it is clear that the main “ actor» - microwaves.

This is electromagnetic radiation of ultra-high frequency - 2.4 GHz. Many people remember from physics: when a substance is heated, its molecules accelerate - first those that are closer to the heat, and then they share energy with other, distant molecules.

If you put frozen food in a frying pan, it will be warm on the outside and icy on the inside. In microwave ovens the opposite is true. There are waves that penetrate inside here. When you take a heated pie out of your Samsung or LG smart oven, you will see that it is hot inside and warm on the surface.

Microwave is a short electromagnetic radio wave, the frequency of which practically coincides with the frequency of radiation mobile phones. This is why mobile communications do not work well near microwave ovens.

We bought a microwave oven - what to do?

If you are just getting acquainted with the microwave device, you need instructions, which are included in the package. How else can you find out about the purpose of the buttons and the functions of the purchased equipment? Except that empirically- but this will take a lot of time, and you can inadvertently damage something.

The first thing people worry about when they buy a microwave oven is how to turn it on? When using for the first time, proceed as follows:

  • Place the device on a table, shelf or other level place.
  • Turn on the device by inserting the plug into the electrical outlet.
  • Now start the device. In different models, activation can be done in different ways:
    - “Start” or “Cook” button;
    - by turning the timer - after setting the time, the stove turns on.

If the oven is working properly, it will work after turning it on.

Why do you need a timer?

The timer in some models plays the role of a switch, but its main purpose is to regulate the cooking time. With its help, you can set how long the dish will be cooked.

Timers are different. The time can be set by turning the dial until the user-entered value lights up. It can also be set by typing numbers using the keyboard. To choose optimal time, look at the information on the package or in the recipe.

Basic user mistakes

The most main mistake - ignoring instructions. Without understanding the essence of the device’s operation, it is easy to cause its breakdown.

It is important to understand: microwaves only affect H2O molecules. Therefore, only products containing water can be cooked in a microwave oven. When heating foods with low liquid content, you need to place a container with liquid nearby.

If the stand does not rotate, the dish will not heat up evenly - it will burn on one side and be raw on the other. This does not only apply to inverter models, they do not have a rotating tray.

It is important to remember: you cannot interrupt the specified cooking process; add spices before starting or after completion.

How to extend the life of a microwave

By using your microwave oven according to the rules, you can significantly extend its life. A good stove can serve without malfunctions for a whole five years or even more. If the oven is working properly:

  • it works quietly;
  • no sparking in the chamber;
  • no odors;
  • the door closes tightly.

Important! Remember, stove breakdowns are also dangerous for its owner. If there are any malfunctions, immediately take the microwave to a service center.

The duration of operation depends on compliance with the instructions for use: use special utensils and cook, taking into account the recommendations of the developers.

To ensure that your first use does not bring disappointment, it is important to follow the manufacturers’ advice. Prohibited:

  • turn on the device when the chamber is empty;
  • turn on the device if the weight of the food is less than 50 g;
  • use metal utensils;
  • Exceed the reasonable cooking time - there is a risk of fire;
  • forcefully wipe the protective screen - a mica plate (it is located in the chamber, usually on the side wall);
  • include in the presence of obvious defects: cracked glass, door not closed tightly, etc.;
  • heat or boil eggs;
  • Load tightly sealed containers and jars of food into the chamber.

  • Before starting the grill, place a cup of water inside.
  • Close the door tightly.
  • If you are going to heat skinned or vacuum-packed food, pierce it in several places with a sharp object before turning on the stove.
  • To keep the chamber clean and not have to wash it every time after cooking, cover the dish with a special lid. Due to splashes of grease and food debris, the mica protective screen may become unusable ahead of time.
  • Do not leave the device unattended.
  • Do not handle the dishes immediately after turning off the appliance - you will get steam burns.
  • Wash the oven from food residues with soft sponges.

The average operating life of microwave ovens is five years. By following the manufacturers' recommendations, you can double it.

How to choose dishes

Specifics of microwave ovens - prohibition of use metal utensils. Also, do not place containers that melt easily or become very hot in the chamber. It is better to use special dishes that say:

  • for microware oven;
  • microware oven safe;
  • suitable for microware;
  • bowls for microwaves.

All of the above inscriptions mean: this dish can be placed in microwave ovens.

It is better to check non-special dishes before putting them in the oven. Place a glass of water inside, next to the dishes you want to test. Turn on the device - you need to increase the power to maximum. If the object is not hot after a minute, you can use it for cooking.

Attention! It is better to buy round dishes: a lot of heat accumulates in the corners, and the plate may burn a little.

Where to put the microwave

The location of the microwave oven determines its capabilities. For example, if you place the stove on top of the refrigerator, it can be used exclusively for heating.

When installing a new device, you should consider the following nuances:

  • Ventilation must not be blocked.
  • It is prohibited to place it near equipment emitting radio waves - malfunctions may occur.
  • Any instructions also say that it should not be placed near a heat source.
  • You can place the oven on other household appliances, but you must first make sure that vibrations from the microwave do not harm it.
  • The surface for installing the device should be as smooth and hard as possible.

When moving the microwave oven, keep in mind: the front part is heavier than the back. You need to pick it up correctly so as not to drop it or break it.

What does power affect?

Correct use is impossible without knowledge related to the power of the device. The speed of operations and the capabilities of the device depend on its value.

  • 1.4 kW is enough to soften butter or ice cream and raise yeast dough.
  • 1.4-2.8 kW - you can defrost and melt food.
  • 2.8-4.2 kW - enough for baking.
  • For good heating you will need a power of at least 4.4-5.6 kW.

On maximum power you can boil water or cook food in a minimum of time.

Before setting a program of action, familiarize yourself with the features of preparing the product. Perhaps it needs to be defrosted first and only then cooked.

Rules of care

Microwave ovens save their owners time, but require regular attention. Cleanliness of the chamber - important condition correct functioning of the equipment. Timely care will prevent the appearance of odors and grease on the chamber walls and on the mica screen.

Follow these rules:

  • Before cleaning, be sure to unplug the device.
  • To properly rinse the camera, remove the removable parts.
  • Internal parts should be washed with warm soapy water. Wait for it to dry.
  • It is better not to use water to prevent it from getting inside the device; you should use a damp sponge.
  • It is forbidden to clean the stove with metal brushes - this can damage the coating.
  • Do not use alkaline or chlorine-containing products.

If you find dirt that cannot be washed off or removed with a rag, turn on the vacuum cleaner. Use a fine nozzle. You can also clean vents this way.

If you bought a Samsung

According to statistics, 20% of families use Korean brand microwaves. For all microwave ovens, the rules of care and operation are almost the same.

Samsung stoves may differ from each other in their control panel. In digital models, control occurs using buttons, in analogue models - through manual control. The second option is simpler and cheaper, and, in addition, eliminates system errors. Touch models include a lot additional functions eg self-cleaning.

When installing Samsung stoves, you should remember: you need to maintain a distance of at least 20 cm from any other objects.

Be careful with blocking!

Those who are too lazy to read the instructions often encounter blocking problems. Majority modern models equipped useful function- protection from children. However, it happens that it becomes an obstacle for owners who cannot unlock the microwave.

The unlocking procedure is described in each instruction. So, for example, to remove the unit in the Samsung CE1110R, you need to simultaneously press the “Microwave”, “Grill” and “Convection” buttons.

). We were pleased with the testing, and we looked forward to our new encounter with the LG microwave provided by the manufacturer with joy.

This time we got our hands on a new model: LG MS2354JAS. This is a medium-volume stove (23 l), solo, and on the market so recently that at the time of writing, there was not even a page describing the product on the Russian-language LG website. This intrigued our testlab even more, since it was an opportunity to find out what was so new in each seemingly familiar product that the famous manufacturer had invented.

The company pays attention to the door made of tempered glass with a comfortable handle, easy to clean internal covering Easy Clean, automatic programs“kitchens of the world”, the recently appeared i-wave technology (spiral propagation of microwaves, as well as the design of the inner wall of the chamber, which ensure a particularly uniform distribution of microwaves during heating and defrosting). Another new product boasts a special energy saving system.

We will pay special attention to all these qualities when testing the LG MS2354JAS.

Based on numerous requests from readers, we continue the experiment with non-studio spontaneous food photography. The article contains a number of photographs of prepared products; this material should be taken as illustrative and regarding the quality of the photo and composition - do not be upset.

Equipment

The cardboard box with the device looks reliable and modest. The base is a classic “cardboard” color, black and burgundy text and images are a classic hint that this manufacturer is working on the contents of the box, and not on its appearance.

Opening the box, inside you can find:

  • the oven itself;
  • instructions;
  • warranty card.

The glass tray and the rotating ring underneath are also included, but we do not list them as accessories as they are an integral part of the design.

Oven appearance

We would call the appearance of the LG MS2354JAS stylish: it is standard for microwaves cuboid, but the dark glass and unusual handle make you linger on the object for a long time. But the asymmetrical arrangement of the buttons confused us a little.

Control is carried out using a panel of mechanical buttons, in the upper part of which there is a display, in idle mode designed to demonstrate the current time, when selecting a mode it displays the parameters already entered, and when the device is operating, it shows the time remaining until the end of the current process. At the top of the control panel there are buttons special regimes: international cuisine, auto defrost and quick defrost; in the middle there are buttons for microwave mode and clock settings; and the two bottom rows are buttons for setting the time/selecting a submode, as well as “stop” and “start”.

The door mechanism has built-in interlocking contacts that will prevent the oven from being turned on. door open and will pause any cooking mode when it is opened during cooking. This solution is already familiar, not innovative, but the Eco On energy saving system impressed us: when activated, an unattended oven turns off the display and backlight after 5 minutes of inactivity.

In principle, you can understand the controls of the LG MS2354JAS without reading the instructions, but to work with automatic modes We would still recommend reading it.

Inner covering material

The walls inside the oven are covered with enamel. IN bottom part a rotating ring and a glass tray are installed. Inner surface doors - heat resistant glass, seal, steel mesh.

Control

It turned out to be quite easy to master the operation of the LG MS2354JAS. The control panel is simple and clear, the sensitivity of the buttons is as comfortable as possible. What’s especially pleasing is the fact that the buttons are mechanical: it’s nice to feel the feedback from pressing the button.

The main buttons that the lion's share of buyers will use most often are “start” and “stop”. There are enough of them to achieve from the device its most beloved function - portion heating of food. Auto defrost and quick defrost do not raise any questions; The microwave power level is adjusted by pressing the corresponding button and varies from low to high. The manufacturer provides a table expressed in watts.

LevelPower
Short160 W
Medium low320 W
Average480 W
Medium high640 W
High800 W

As in all other cases with non-inverter microwave ovens, these figures are quite arbitrary, since the magnetron still always operates at maximum power, and the heating level is regulated by turning it off more or less frequently (which is confirmed by objective tests).

The user may have some questions if only learning the modes of the so-called international cuisine, but our tests have shown that - alas! - for all the beauty of the name, the proposed recipes for “programmed” dishes are in most cases useless.

Instructions and recipe book

The documentation, in addition to the warranty card, consists of two books: safety instructions and instructions for use. In the first one you can find various warnings and tips on installation, heating, turning food during cooking, etc. The user part contains a picture with a diagram of the buttons, an incomplete sheet of information about the controls and several pages of recipes from the “international chef”.

Recipes are divided by national cuisines: Russian, Italian, oriental, etc. Why and for what purpose this particular set was chosen could not be established, but it is absolutely clear that a microwave oven alone is not enough to prepare them - in many cases, the device being tested only offers final stage preparations. For example, French onion soup involves cooking onions in a frying pan, having ready-made beef broth and heating all this stuff in our microwave. There is an obvious pull of the owl on the globe: if a person has a stove, then he will mix the ingredients in a saucepan, and a microwave is absolutely not needed here, and if there is no stove (for example, in an office kitchen), then this mode will not be useful.

In addition, the recipes contain numerous typos: for example, the recipe for spaghetti carbonara begins with the paragraph “bolognese sauce ingredients.” Fine?

Let's analyze in detail one of our favorite recipes. It's called "meat in pots." To prepare the meat you need to take 400 grams of chicken (oops), mayonnaise, potatoes, onions and tomatoes, as well as cheese. All this needs to be put in a bowl, mixed, covered cling film with the holes made and turn on the appropriate mode. That is, there is no meat or pots in the recipe, but there is heat-treated mayonnaise and the joint preparation of potatoes with tomatoes - two points that cannot be called anything other than a dubious idea.

A rectangle with a picture of chef Alexei Zimin is pasted onto the stove. We modestly assumed that Alexey Zimin either did not read the given recipes, or... just figure it out for yourself.

Exploitation

Preparation for use

Microwave Oven Care

The glass tray is easy to clean dishwasher, and the roller guide under it - in running water and soap. The body and glass door are wiped with a damp cloth with detergent; The manufacturer does not recommend using abrasives and solvents. Before starting cleaning, it is recommended to disconnect the device from the mains.

Cleaning up after testing was a breeze: the Easy Clean coating (as the manufacturer calls it) is really easy to clean with a cloth, and we didn't manage to get it dirty enough to cause anything to stick to the walls to the point that it would be difficult to clean .

Testing

Objective tests

In the heating rate test, 500 ml of water with a temperature of 20°C is poured into a standard GOST half-liter jar, after which it is heated for a certain amount of time in microwave mode at maximum power, and then, after mixing, the water temperature is measured again. You can see the test results in the table.

We also measured the energy consumption of the microwave oven in various operating modes. Here we (with the exception of sleep mode) present average values rounded to the nearest ten, which fully corresponds to both the accuracy of the equipment used and the meaning of the requirements that can be placed on such tests.

Test dishes

We decided to make the following as test dishes:

  • Auto-defrost of minced meat test sample
  • Fast defrost chickens
  • Reheating pots of stew
  • Dumplings
  • Stuffed tomatoes
  • Jacket potatoes
  • Chickens

Defrosting minced meat

As a test sample, we froze 800 grams of minced meat, consisting of half lean beef and half medium fat pork. The minced meat was frozen in the form of a round lump.

The device selected the auto-defrost mode for 800 grams of meat (mode 1). After setting the weight, the indicator displayed information that the process would take 14 minutes 42 seconds. When the cooking time remained at 09:41, 5 quiet and non-irritating signals were heard, after which we turned our lump of minced meat over. At 4:46 the beeps sounded again and we discovered that the mince had defrosted by about a third, remaining rock-hard in the middle. Having separated the defrosted mass from the outside, we set the remaining lump for the remaining time. When the auto-defrosting ended, we discovered that our lump in the middle was still a bit hard, so we covered it with a plate and after 15 minutes we got excellent result: completely defrosted minced meat without frozen lumps and “welded” outer parts.

Experts' verdict: good. In our testers' experience, this is a good result, and all previously tested microwave ovens performed slightly worse in the test freezing task. However, the process did not seem super-duper-uniform to us; this is classic defrosting in a microwave, perhaps a little more uniform than that of units manufactured before the advent of i-wave technology.

Quick defrosting of chickens

As a test sample, we took two small chickens weighing approximately 400 grams each.

The quick defrost mode was selected on the device, and the time 02:40 flashed on the screen. In the middle, that is, after 1 minute and 20 seconds, we heard five signals that were already familiar to us, turned the chickens over, and after the end of the mode, we left them for another 10 minutes inside the tested unit.

Experts' verdict: excellent. We received perfectly and completely defrosted chickens, without overheated or “cooked” fragments.

Warming up the pots

Pots of stew made from lamb, chickpeas, vegetables and dried apricots were heated in a test oven. The choice of objects for testing is explained very simply: microwave ovens usually heat food poorly and unevenly. ceramic pots. In this case, our experimental subject’s task was further complicated by the fact that lamb, chickpeas and other ingredients have a heterogeneous structure.

Verdict: excellent. Both pots heated perfectly evenly. Now we believe that i-wave is a technological technique, not a marketing one.

Russian chef: dumplings

We thought for a long time about how we could test the collection of recipes, because they were written in a completely unappetizing way. However, we did not have the right to simply criticize them without trusting the harmony with algebra: everything should be clear.

First, we prepared dumplings, buying frozen semi-finished product at the store. The instructions suggested taking dumplings, water (not a word about its temperature) and spices, putting everything in a deep bowl, stirring and covering with film, making holes in it. We took pity on the tasters and placed the dumplings in boiling water, placed the bowl in the LG MS2354JAS, and then selected the appropriate auto-cook mode.

Tasters' verdict: terrible. We put them in boiling water! Anyway, the frozen dumplings cooled the water, and while it was heating up again, our automatic Russian cook turned the dish into a sticky and rather mushy mass. For comparison: on the right is the same portion of dumplings, boiled in a regular pan.

French chef: stuffed tomatoes

The recipe calls for filling 4 tomatoes with minced meat mixed with bread crumbs, garlic, Dijon mustard, dried herbs and Parmesan, then sending them under a hole in the film to auto mode number five of the French part of the recipes. We used fresh herbs instead of dried, but otherwise the recipe was followed exactly.

Tasters' verdict: not bad. The minced meat had time to cook, but the tomatoes were not baked, but only heated up, remaining raw. It turned out to be unusual, but quite tasty. Parmesan is now, however, prohibited - in our editorial office we discovered a piece of contraband, but we don’t even know what the reader should do.

Italian Chef: Apple Chips

According to the recipe, half an apple was cut into thin slices with a vegetable peeler, then placed in sweet water, then dried on a towel, placed on parchment and the appropriate mode was selected.

Tasters' verdict: bad. Only half of the portion came onto the tray at a time. That is, we carried out all these manipulations in order to get from a quarter of an apple crispy, chip-like pieces in the middle and half-dried misunderstandings stuck to the edges.

Jacket potatoes

In principle, you can cook a huge number of dishes in the microwave, and we decided not to get hung up on recipes that are clearly pointless, but to cook a couple of servings of normal tasty food, seeing how the LG MS2354JAS handles it. A kilogram of potatoes was cooked under plastic cover for microwave ovens at maximum power for 10 minutes.

The potatoes cooked perfectly and evenly without cracking or bursting. In addition, 10 minutes is fast, that is, the use of a microwave oven in this case is justified in terms of cooking speed. Lightly salted cucumbers and other ingredients serve to decorate this photo and go well with our test dish.

Chickens in microwave mode

The chickens that we had previously defrosted were rubbed with salt, and small pieces were placed inside. butter and cooked at 80% of maximum power for 12 minutes.

Tasters' verdict: excellent. Fully prepared, juicy, delicious chickens are more nutritious than fried ones, and more tender than boiled ones. Uniformity and i-wave are excellent.

conclusions

Testing the LG MS2354JAS microwave oven turned out to be interesting and made it possible to understand that new things are possible in such a seemingly classic technology as microwave ovens. The quality of the device has not caused any complaints; the stove is characterized by ease of operation and medium dimensions, which will allow you to cook, and not just heat up a plate of food. The device looks stylish and attracts the eye. The number of functions that the LG MS2354JAS performs is not too large: it is simply microwaves of various powers. The device did an excellent job of defrosting, heating and preparing traditional dishes, that is, we were able to notice the results of using i-wave technology.

Caring for the microwave oven is made easier by its special coating, from which dirt can be easily removed.

Automatic modes, as our testing showed, do not make much sense, but do not interfere with working with the device. We considered the recipes ill-conceived and of poor quality.

The device is perfect for a person or married couple who plan to reheat and defrost, getting good results, and also prepare an acceptable amount of tasty and varied dishes. The oven is also useful in a small office kitchen - both for heating ready meals and for preparing simple hot lunches.

pros

  • Good quality and stylish appearance
  • Even heating, defrosting and cooking
  • Easy care

Minuses

  • Ill-conceived and unsuccessful recipes
