). We were pleased with the testing, and we looked forward to our new encounter with the LG microwave provided by the manufacturer with joy.

This time we got our hands on a new model: LG MS2354JAS. This is a medium-volume stove (23 l), solo, and on the market so recently that at the time of writing, there was not even a page describing the product on the Russian-language LG website. This intrigued our testlab even more, since it was an opportunity to find out what was so new in each seemingly familiar product that the famous manufacturer had invented.

The company pays attention to the door made of tempered glass with a comfortable handle, easy to clean internal covering Easy Clean, automatic programs“kitchens of the world”, the recently appeared i-wave technology (spiral propagation of microwaves, as well as the design of the inner wall of the chamber, which ensure a particularly uniform distribution of microwaves during heating and defrosting). Another new product boasts a special energy saving system.

We will pay special attention to all these qualities when testing the LG MS2354JAS.

Based on numerous requests from readers, we continue the experiment with non-studio spontaneous food photography. The article contains a number of photographs of prepared products; this material should be taken as illustrative and regarding the quality of the photo and composition - do not be upset.

Equipment

The cardboard box with the device looks reliable and modest. The base is a classic “cardboard” color, black and burgundy text and images are a classic hint that this manufacturer is working on the contents of the box, and not on its appearance.

Opening the box, inside you can find:

  • the oven itself;
  • instructions;
  • warranty card.

The glass tray and the rotating ring underneath are also included, but we do not list them as accessories as they are an integral part of the design.

Oven appearance

We would call the appearance of the LG MS2354JAS stylish: it is standard for microwaves cuboid, but the dark glass and unusual handle make you linger on the object for a long time. But the asymmetrical arrangement of the buttons confused us a little.

Control is carried out using a panel of mechanical buttons, in the upper part of which there is a display, in idle mode designed to demonstrate the current time, when selecting a mode it displays the parameters already entered, and when the device is operating, it shows the time remaining until the end of the current process. At the top of the control panel there are buttons special regimes: international cuisine, auto defrost and fast defrosting; in the middle there are buttons for microwave mode and clock settings; and the two bottom rows are buttons for setting the time/selecting a submode, as well as “stop” and “start”.

The door mechanism has built-in interlocking contacts that will prevent the oven from being turned on. door open and will pause any cooking mode when it is opened during cooking. This solution is already familiar, not innovative, but the Eco On energy saving system impressed us: when activated, an unattended oven turns off the display and backlight after 5 minutes of inactivity.

In principle, you can understand the controls of the LG MS2354JAS without reading the instructions, but to work with automatic modes, we would still recommend reading it.

Inner covering material

The walls inside the oven are covered with enamel. IN bottom part a rotating ring and a glass tray are installed. Inner surface doors - heat resistant glass, seal, steel mesh.

Control

It turned out to be quite easy to master the operation of the LG MS2354JAS. The control panel is simple and clear, the sensitivity of the buttons is as comfortable as possible. What’s especially pleasing is the fact that the buttons are mechanical: it’s nice to feel the feedback from pressing the button.

The main buttons that the lion's share of buyers will use most often are “start” and “stop”. There are enough of them to achieve from the device its most beloved function - portion heating of food. Auto defrost and quick defrost do not raise any questions; The microwave power level is adjusted by pressing the corresponding button and varies from low to high. The manufacturer provides a table expressed in watts.

LevelPower
Short160 W
Medium low320 W
Average480 W
Medium high640 W
High800 W

As in all other cases with non-inverter microwave ovens, these figures are quite arbitrary, since the magnetron always works at maximum power, and the heating level is regulated by turning it off more or less often (which is confirmed by objective tests).

The user may have some questions if only learning the modes of the so-called international cuisine, but our tests have shown that - alas! - for all the beauty of the name, the proposed recipes for “programmed” dishes are in most cases useless.

Instructions and recipe book

The documentation, in addition to the warranty card, consists of two books: safety instructions and instructions for use. In the first one you can find various warnings and tips on installation, heating, turning food during cooking, etc. The user part contains a picture with a diagram of the buttons, an incomplete sheet of information about the controls and several pages of recipes from the “international chef”.

Recipes are divided by national cuisines: Russian, Italian, oriental, etc. Why and for what purpose this particular set was chosen could not be established, but it is absolutely clear that a microwave oven alone is not enough to prepare them - in many cases, the device being tested only offers final stage preparations. For example, French onion soup involves cooking onions in a frying pan, having ready-made beef broth and heating all this stuff in our microwave. There is an obvious pull of the owl on the globe: if a person has a stove, then he will mix the ingredients in a saucepan, and a microwave is absolutely not needed here, and if there is no stove (for example, in an office kitchen), then this mode will not be useful.

In addition, the recipes contain numerous typos: for example, the recipe for spaghetti carbonara begins with the paragraph “bolognese sauce ingredients.” Fine?

Let's analyze in detail one of our favorite recipes. It's called "meat in pots." To prepare the meat you need to take 400 grams of chicken (oops), mayonnaise, potatoes, onions and tomatoes, as well as cheese. All this needs to be put in a bowl, mixed, covered cling film with the holes made and turn on the appropriate mode. That is, there is no meat or pots in the recipe, but there is heat-treated mayonnaise and the joint preparation of potatoes with tomatoes - two points that cannot be called anything other than a dubious idea.

A rectangle with a picture of chef Alexei Zimin is pasted onto the stove. We modestly assumed that Alexey Zimin either did not read the given recipes, or... just figure it out for yourself.

Exploitation

Preparation for use

Microwave Oven Care

The glass tray is easy to clean dishwasher, and the roller guide under it - in running water and soap. The body and glass door are wiped with a damp cloth with detergent; The manufacturer does not recommend using abrasives and solvents. Before starting cleaning, it is recommended to disconnect the device from the mains.

Cleaning up after testing was a breeze: the Easy Clean coating (as the manufacturer calls it) is really easy to clean with a cloth, and we didn't manage to get it dirty enough to cause anything to stick to the walls to the point that it would be difficult to clean .

Testing

Objective tests

In the heating rate test, 500 ml of water with a temperature of 20°C is poured into a standard GOST half-liter jar, after which it is heated for a certain amount of time in microwave mode at maximum power, and then, after mixing, the water temperature is measured again. You can see the test results in the table.

We also measured the energy consumption of the microwave oven in various operating modes. Here we (with the exception of sleep mode) present average values rounded to the nearest ten, which fully corresponds to both the accuracy of the equipment used and the meaning of the requirements that can be placed on such tests.

Test dishes

We decided to make the following as test dishes:

  • Auto-defrost of minced meat test sample
  • Quick defrosting of chickens
  • Reheating pots of stew
  • Dumplings
  • Stuffed tomatoes
  • Jacket potatoes
  • Chickens

Defrosting minced meat

As a test sample, we froze 800 grams of minced meat, consisting of half lean beef and half medium fat pork. The minced meat was frozen in the form of a round lump.

The device selected the auto-defrost mode for 800 grams of meat (mode 1). After setting the weight, the indicator displayed information that the process would take 14 minutes 42 seconds. When the cooking time remained at 09:41, 5 quiet and non-irritating signals were heard, after which we turned our lump of minced meat over. At 4:46 the beeps sounded again and we discovered that the mince had defrosted by about a third, remaining rock-hard in the middle. Having separated the defrosted mass from the outside, we set the remaining lump for the remaining time. When the auto-defrosting ended, we discovered that our lump in the middle was still a bit hard, so we covered it with a plate and after 15 minutes we got excellent result: completely defrosted minced meat without frozen lumps and “welded” outer parts.

Experts' verdict: good. In our testers' experience, this is a good result, and all previously tested microwave ovens performed slightly worse in the test freezing task. However, the process did not seem super-duper-uniform to us; this is classic defrosting in a microwave, perhaps a little more uniform than that of units manufactured before the advent of i-wave technology.

Quick defrosting of chickens

As a test sample, we took two small chickens weighing approximately 400 grams each.

The quick defrost mode was selected on the device, and the time 02:40 flashed on the screen. In the middle, that is, after 1 minute and 20 seconds, we heard five signals that were already familiar to us, turned the chickens over, and after the end of the mode, we left them for another 10 minutes inside the tested unit.

Experts' verdict: excellent. We received perfectly and completely defrosted chickens, without overheated or “cooked” fragments.

Warming up the pots

Pots of stew made from lamb, chickpeas, vegetables and dried apricots were heated in a test oven. The choice of objects for testing is explained very simply: microwave ovens usually heat food poorly and unevenly. ceramic pots. In this case, our experimental subject’s task was further complicated by the fact that lamb, chickpeas and other ingredients have a heterogeneous structure.

Verdict: excellent. Both pots heated perfectly evenly. Now we believe that i-wave is a technological technique, not a marketing one.

Russian chef: dumplings

We thought for a long time about how we could test the collection of recipes, because they were written in a completely unappetizing way. However, we did not have the right to simply criticize them without trusting the harmony with algebra: everything should be clear.

First, we prepared dumplings, buying frozen semi-finished product at the store. The instructions suggested taking dumplings, water (not a word about its temperature) and spices, putting everything in a deep bowl, stirring and covering with film, making holes in it. We took pity on the tasters and placed the dumplings in boiling water, placed the bowl in the LG MS2354JAS, and then selected the appropriate auto-cook mode.

Tasters' verdict: terrible. We put them in boiling water! Anyway, the frozen dumplings cooled the water, and while it was heating up again, our automatic Russian cook turned the dish into a sticky and rather mushy mass. For comparison: on the right is the same portion of dumplings, boiled in a regular pan.

French chef: stuffed tomatoes

The recipe calls for filling 4 tomatoes with minced meat mixed with bread crumbs, garlic, Dijon mustard, dried herbs and Parmesan, then sending them under a hole in the film to auto mode number five of the French part of the recipes. We used fresh herbs instead of dried, but otherwise the recipe was followed exactly.

Tasters' verdict: not bad. The minced meat had time to cook, but the tomatoes were not baked, but only heated up, remaining raw. It turned out to be unusual, but quite tasty. Parmesan is now, however, prohibited - in our editorial office we discovered a piece of contraband, but we don’t even know what the reader should do.

Italian Chef: Apple Chips

According to the recipe, half an apple was cut into thin slices with a vegetable peeler, then placed in sweet water, then dried on a towel, placed on parchment and the appropriate mode was selected.

Tasters' verdict: bad. Only half of the portion came onto the tray at a time. That is, we carried out all these manipulations in order to get from a quarter of an apple crispy, chip-like pieces in the middle and half-dried misunderstandings stuck to the edges.

Jacket potatoes

In principle, you can cook a huge number of dishes in the microwave, and we decided not to get hung up on recipes that are clearly pointless, but to cook a couple of servings of normal tasty food, seeing how the LG MS2354JAS handles it. A kilogram of potatoes was cooked under plastic cover For microwave ovens at maximum power for 10 minutes.

The potatoes cooked perfectly and evenly without cracking or bursting. In addition, 10 minutes is fast, that is, the use of a microwave oven in this case is justified in terms of cooking speed. Lightly salted cucumbers and other ingredients serve to decorate this photo and go well with our test dish.

Chickens in microwave mode

The chickens that we had previously defrosted were rubbed with salt, and small pieces were placed inside. butter and cooked at 80% of maximum power for 12 minutes.

Tasters' verdict: excellent. Fully prepared, juicy, delicious chickens are more nutritious than fried ones, and more tender than boiled ones. Uniformity and i-wave are excellent.

conclusions

Testing the LG MS2354JAS microwave oven turned out to be interesting and made it possible to understand that new things are possible in such a seemingly classic technology as microwave ovens. The quality of the device has not caused any complaints; the stove is characterized by ease of operation and medium dimensions, which will allow you to cook, and not just heat up a plate of food. The device looks stylish and attracts the eye. The number of functions that the LG MS2354JAS performs is not too large: it is simply microwaves of various powers. The device did an excellent job of defrosting, heating and preparing traditional dishes, that is, we were able to notice the results of using i-wave technology.

Caring for the microwave oven is made easier by its special coating, from which dirt can be easily removed.

Automatic modes, as our testing showed, do not make much sense, but do not interfere with working with the device. We considered the recipes ill-conceived and of poor quality.

The device is perfect for a person or married couple who plan to reheat and defrost, getting good results, and also prepare an acceptable amount of tasty and varied dishes. The oven is also useful in a small office kitchen - both for heating ready meals and for preparing simple hot lunches.

pros

  • Good quality and stylish appearance
  • Even heating, defrosting and cooking
  • Easy care

Minuses

  • Ill-conceived and unsuccessful recipes

Our testing laboratory, like everyone who is spoiled by the growing traffic to articles and who loves their work, continues to test new things. Today's new product is a real classic, which we recommend taking a closer look at.

So, today we present the first article about testing a microwave oven. For this test, we chose a large-volume microwave (28 liters) with wide functionality: microwaves, grill, convection. The manufacturer of the selected model is LG, model MC-7846GQ.

Our experts were pleasantly surprised by the wide range of capabilities this device offers us. In fact, when microwave ovens appeared, they were more likely to be the results of serving the interests of everyday life than science, rather than marketing achievements. This type of home assistant has gradually taken root since the late eighties and today has occupied a corner or shelf in almost every kitchen or home. The market has become saturated and stabilized: people are buying microwave ovens to replace old ones, as well as when new housing appears. Unlike multicookers, which only the lazy have not talked about in the last few years, microwave ovens quietly live their own lives, but, as it turned out, this life is not so fun. In the vast majority of farms, the functionality of this type kitchen appliances they simply forgot to study it, using a rather large and useful device just for heating food.

Today's review of the LG MC-7846GQ will demonstrate the tests we have selected to test the maximum capabilities of the device. In future articles about microwave ovens, this work will be used as a model. Moreover, all tests that allow us to move away from subjective expert assessments(tasty or tasteless), and show a measurable and significant result (heating water in microwave and convection mode, defrosting standard minced meat, etc.) will be included as mandatory in future articles about the study of microwave ovens. To control how the device copes with a particular function and the quality of the recipes included with the device, we still use a team of tasters, supplementing the results with photographs whenever possible.

Based on numerous requests from readers, we continue the experiment with non-studio spontaneous food photography. The article contains a number of photographs of prepared products; this material should be taken as illustrative, and do not be upset about the quality of the photo and composition.

* This is what the manufacturer claims. According to our feelings, the buttons are still membrane-type: without a pronounced press, just by touch, they are not activated.

Equipment

The cardboard box with the device is made in a fairly strict color scheme: classic “cardboard” color base, black and white text and image of the device, burgundy logo and top of the box. This creates a feeling of reliability - in our, no longer modest, experience, such boxes are without spaceships and designer-cut tomatoes can only be afforded by a manufacturer whose marketers and designers have no doubt about the quality of what’s inside.

Opening the box, inside you can find:

  • the oven itself;
  • instructions;
  • recipe book;
  • warranty card;
  • two grills for frying;
  • metal baking tray.

The glass tray and the rotating ring underneath are of course also present, but we do not list them in the list of accessories as they are an integral part of the design. The accessories are useful and really necessary during operation; the quality of their production did not raise any complaints or complaints.

Oven appearance

The appearance of the LG MC-7846GQ can be described as solid: it is a rectangular parallelepiped white with glass door with black metal mesh and a touch control panel on the front and a steel surface on the back. The oven opens in a classic way for microwaves: you need to pull the door.

Control is carried out using a flat panel, in the upper part of which there is a display, in idle mode designed to show the current time, when selecting a mode it displays the parameters already entered, and when the device is operating, it shows the time remaining until the end of the current process. For lovers ready-made solutions At the top of the control panel there are two small lists with automatic cooking modes.

During operation, the microwave chamber is illuminated, so you can watch the process of preparing your dish.

It is impossible to understand the controls of the LG MC-7846GQ without reading the instructions; at best, this can lead to cracking nuts with the royal seal, that is, using a multifunctional appliance to heat a bowl of soup.

Inner covering material

The walls inside the oven are made of stainless steel. At the bottom there is an element made of heat-resistant plastic, on which a rotating ring and a glass tray are installed. The inner surface of the door is heat-resistant glass, seal, steel. The door mechanism has built-in interlocking contacts that will prevent you from turning on the oven with the door open, and will also pause any cooking mode when it is opened during cooking.

Control

In almost all cases, the user controls the LG MC-7846GQ himself: to do this, you need to set the operating mode and cooking time; in some cases (for example, during defrosting - the weight of the product).

The control panel is quite convenient, the sensitivity of the buttons does not cause any discomfort. You won’t be able to master it intuitively, but the instructions provide the answer to all questions: if you absolutely dislike reading instructions, we simply would not recommend purchasing the product. It would also be useful to note that the LEDs associated with each of the buttons are located under a small bulge. It can be easily felt by the fingertip and makes it possible for visually impaired or blind users to use the device.

After reading the management recommendations and a couple of practical classes the oven is completely mastered: besides the fact that there are simply a lot of functions and you need to understand them, there is nothing complicated or inconvenient in working with the device. Although the mechanical buttons of the old predecessor models were still more convenient, alas, fashion and cost savings leave us no choice.

Microwave power levels range from low to high. The manufacturer provides a table in watts, which hints that depending on the selected mode, the power actually changes. However, the results of our measurements call this assumption into question: in microwave mode, energy consumption always had only 2 gradations - maximum and minimum.

The range of temperatures set during convection is from 100 to 230 degrees (in increments of 10). This is an excellent spread, which is the basis for the vast majority of recipes existing in the world. There is also a separate mode of 40 degrees: get and closed cabinet for proofing dough, and the ideal temperature for making yoghurts.

Besides independent choice temperature and time, there are eight automatic programs “Russian cook” and “auto cook”, four modes of normal and quick defrosting, grilling and the ability to combine modes.

Instructions and recipe book

In the instructions you can find everything you need to work with the device: information about the utensils used, rules for setting modes - from simple to complex, with cooking in two stages; rules for adjusting temperature and time directly during the cooking process, guidance on cooking in automatic modes, child lock mode and practical advice. All this wealth occupies only 30 pages, which does not seem to us a difficult or overwhelming task.

The recipe book is an illustrated publication with five dozen various recipes. They are not intended to compose the user’s entire diet, but are quite capable of teaching him the principles of working with the LG MC-7846GQ in practice, obtaining tasty results without the need to invent food and search modes suitable for studying folk art in the Internet.

Several more recipes are contained in the instructions. They illustrate how to use the autocook modes. This part of the Marlezon ballet remained incomprehensible to us: why do we need separate buttons for 12 dishes, a third of which are chicken? Why does fried chicken belong to the “autochef” mode, but for grilled wings the chef becomes Russian? What is so Russian about grilled vegetables, and why not regulate their quantity, and accordingly the cooking mode, yourself, but use a given weight? However, no one forces those who, like our experts, did not appreciate the proposed set to use it - the device is capable of handling an infinite number of dishes, except for those indicated in the list of automatic ones.

Exploitation

Preparation for use

It is recommended to install the stove as free-standing on a level horizontal surface at a height of at least 85 cm from the floor, providing a gap of at least 30 cm at the top and 10 cm at the back. In order not to tip the device onto the floor, you should retreat at least 8 cm deep and from the edge of the surface on which the stove is installed.

In fact, preparation for operation begins even when planning the kitchen during renovation and/or initial arrangement of the apartment. A stationary place must be allocated for the unit being tested; the stove is very heavy and it is irrational to carry it from corner to corner.

Before first use, a rotating ring and a glass tray are installed in the stove, then it is recommended to heat 300 ml of water and make sure that it is warm.

Although our editors are more than confident in the adequacy of the reader, for example, that he is unlikely to be able to think of placing a cat in a microwave oven, we still strongly recommend that you read the instructions before starting use. It is intelligible, useful and interesting - besides, this is not such a common case for household appliances when instructions are really really needed.

The manufacturer also recommends setting the clock before use. This will not affect the quality of food preparation; moreover, every time the power is turned off, the clock will be reset to zero, so everyone can evaluate the need for this item independently. It is quite strange that the manufacturer of this high-quality and expensive microwave oven still does not know about non-volatile memory; even many multicookers have it, although these devices are on average simpler and cheaper.

Microwave Oven Care

All accessories - grids, baking tray, and glass disc - are easy to clean in the dishwasher. The body and glass door are wiped with a damp cloth and detergent; the manufacturer strictly does not recommend using abrasives and solvents. It is prohibited to disassemble the door and generally experiment with the integrity of the device.

If there is heavy contamination, it is recommended to boil a glass of water inside the device - the steam will help wash the dirt from the walls and door. In order to wipe the control unit without accidentally starting the oven, you can simply open the door of the microwave being tested.

Testing

Objective tests

For the first time in the practice of testing kitchen appliances, this section contains not only expert assessments, but also objective measurement data. In the case of microwaves, we divided them into 2 categories: heating rate tests and energy consumption measurements.

In the heating rate test, 500 ml of water with a temperature of 20°C is poured into a standard GOST half-liter jar, after which it is heated for a certain amount of time in microwave mode at maximum power, and then, after mixing, the water temperature is measured again. You can see the test results in the table.

Bonus test: in convection mode at maximum temperature (230 °C), the water in the jar heated up to 62 °C in 15 minutes.

We also measured the energy consumption of the microwave oven in various operating modes. Here we (with the exception of sleep mode) present average values rounded to the nearest ten, which fully corresponds to both the accuracy of the equipment used and the meaning of the requirements that can be placed on such tests.

Test dishes

We decided to prepare the following as test dishes:

  • Defrosting a test sample of minced meat;
  • Vegetables in microwave mode;
  • Meatloaf;
  • Baked potato;
  • Grilled wings.

Defrosting minced meat

As a test sample, we froze 800 grams of minced meat, consisting of half lean beef and half medium fat pork. The minced meat was frozen in the form of a round lump.

The device selected the auto-defrost mode for 800 grams of meat. In the middle of the process, the LG MC-7846GQ microwave oven made a fairly loud sound. We, acting according to the instructions, took out the minced meat and checked how much it had defrosted. It turned out to be an object of the same color, evenly defrosted around the edges and still frozen in the middle. Having separated the defrosted mass, we set the remaining lump for the remaining time from the program and at the end we got an excellent result: completely defrosted minced meat without frozen lumps and “welded” outer parts.

Experts' verdict: excellent. According to the experience of our testers, this result is as good as it is rare for microwave ovens.

Vegetables in microwave mode

To prepare this dish, we divided half a small head of broccoli and half a small head of cauliflower into florets. The vegetables were placed in a glass bowl and covered with a plastic microwave lid (not included with the product being tested). Cooked in microwave mode at maximum power. After 1.5 minutes, the cabbage mixture was ready, without boiling into porridge and retaining its structure and shape.

Tasters' verdict: excellent. A high-quality side dish will please both dietitians and fans in record time healthy eating, so ordinary person, especially if you mix sour cream with salt, finely chopped herbs and garlic and serve as a sauce. The taste is indistinguishable from steamed vegetables, but much faster.

Grilled meatloaf

The shoulder of a young lamb was freed from the bone, resulting in a layer of meat weighing 1 kg. The meat was rubbed with salt and spices and rolled up, placing slices inside onions, a bunch of fresh herbs along with “legs” and a few pieces of quince. All this, to the best of the experimenters’ strength and talent, was tied with culinary twine (in our case, undyed linen thread) and placed in the refrigerator for one day.

A day later, the roll was taken out, greased with odorless vegetable oil and placed on a low wire rack, which, in turn, was placed on a metal baking sheet. Then for forty-five minutes we turned on the LG MC-7846GQ in combi mode: grill and 60% microwave power.

Verdict: excellent. Fully cooked meat with an appetizing crust on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside, onions and quince provided aromatic flavor notes, and green stalks soaked in meat juice provided a pleasant texture.

Baked Potato

Small potatoes were sprinkled with salt, dry dill, freshly ground black pepper and brushed with oil, placing in a heat-resistant glass dish.

The oven was turned on maximum temperature convection by combining it with 40% microwaves.

Tasters' verdict: very good. The time savings were not particularly significant (perhaps it was necessary to increase the microwave power), but the potatoes baked evenly and turned out to be as tasty as expected.

Grilled chicken wings

To test how useful the autocook mode is, we took exactly a kilogram of chicken wings, marinated them according to the recipe from the user manual, and left them for the required time. We then selected the appropriate setting from the Russian Chef menu, placing the wings on the grill and placing a grill dish underneath.

Tasters' verdict: satisfactory. By the time the oven finished operating in the selected mode, the wings were excessively browned. This was not yet a “burnt out” state, and this test dish lasted only a few minutes, but it seemed to us that the availability of ready-made programs was still not a panacea. On the other hand, maybe this kind of ruddy color was intended by the authors of the recipe, and if the user wants a different one, then he always has all the modes at hand and the opportunity to find his ideal.

Seven merry notes

Everything was clear with the recipe book even before testing, but the method required trying at least one dish from the recommended ones. Our choice, we won’t hide, was influenced by the name of the dish: it seemed funny to us. But the main reason is the ability to program the device for two microwave modes, following each other. The essence of the recipe is that balls of minced meat with spices and onions are rolled in flour and cooked first in a more, then in a less intense microwave mode.

Tasters' verdict: good. Quick and completely edible, the number of minutes suggested in the recipe was enough for the dish to be completely cooked, the flour did not allow the juice to leak out and the meatballs turned out not only tasty, but also juicy. It was not possible to find out what the cheerful notes have to do with it.

conclusions

Testing the LG microwave oven with grill and convection (model MC-7846GQ) turned out to be interesting: it was the first device of its kind in our practice, and the quality of its workmanship saved us from any problems or failures. The device takes up quite a lot of space, it is heavy and requires constant “registration” in the kitchen, but it is very roomy and serves as a complete replacement oven for a small family or an addition to one - for a large one. The number of functions that the device successfully performs is very large: these include microwaves for heating and cooking dishes, convection and grill, the ability to combine modes, as well as defrost various products, make yoghurts and proof the dough before baking.

The stove is easy to use, reliable, convenient to use, and there were no complaints about the quality of materials and workmanship. It seems that you can use the device for a long time and without problems - this is hinted at both by the quality of workmanship and by reviews on the Internet. The only thing that remains unclear is the presence automatic modes, the management of which takes up a lot of space on dashboard, but does not bring anywhere near the capabilities comparable to manual control mode. It is important to know that in order to master the art of tasty, varied and safe cooking in this unit It is necessary to read the instructions, but they are written clearly and logically.

The cost of the LG MC-7846GQ looks adequate for its functionality and quality. True, fully mastering all the capabilities of this device requires attention and desire, so if you plan to exclusively heat a bowl of soup, then you should look for something simpler and cheaper.

pros

  • Good quality
  • Easy to get used to controls
  • Wide functionality

Minuses

  • The device requires a separate place in the kitchen
  • Automatic modes take up space on the control panel without adding much meaning
  • No additional accessories available for sale
  • We liked the good old buttons more than “touch controls”
