Multifunctional tool watch. What is a renovator (multi-tool), how to choose and buy it correctly. Working with a multifunctional tool. Choosing the right device

This tool can saw, cut, grind, polish, clean, sharpen and perform many other operations with wood, plastic, metal, concrete, brick, fiberglass, laminate, tile, rubber, etc., and with a fairly high quality of processing.

Thanks to its small size, convenience and versatility, it can replace some common tools, such as: a hacksaw, a jigsaw, a chisel, an angle grinder, scissors, a sander, a sharpener, etc. It is convenient to use, since cuts are made by submersion anywhere, which allows make neat corners, curved lines, openings and work flush, close to the obstacle, in corners and niches.

The device has high security, because there is no centrifugal ejection of material, kickback, kickback and rupture of equipment, and accidental and unintentional contact with a working tool does not lead to injury or tragedy. It is also so easy to use that you can work with it right away, gaining skill as you gain experience.

I think that everyone has already guessed that we are talking about a renovator or a vibration universal machine (aka an oscillator, a universal cutter, a multifunctional tool, an electric chisel, a multitool). As soon as he is not yet called, all the names except the first require some further explanation, and only the first is immediately clear, so in the people's memory he will still remain a renovator (however, the same thing happened with the copier and diaper). Moreover, this is not a hybrid of several familiar tools, it is a separate type, the operating principle of which is based on very fast oscillations (vibrations) of the drive, but with a very small scope. Thus, renovators can become the best assistants both in the home workshop and on the construction site, especially in those moments when accuracy, jewelry precision, or work in a very cramped and inaccessible place are required.

So, let's try to understand the many existing models of renovators and consider their differences from each other.

Characteristics

The greater the power of the renovator, the greater its instantaneous torque and, as a result, the productivity and time of continuous operation without overheating with materials that are difficult to process. For soft materials (plasterboard, plastic, linoleum, etc.) or short work A power of 100-200 W is sufficient. For professional applications, power values above 200 W are required (when working with tiles, stone and concrete 300-350 W).

It is worth noting that vibrating tools Performance is always inferior to rotary and reciprocating models, so they are usually used as an addition to other specialized equipment.

The angle of oscillation or tilt to the right and left differs slightly between different models and is about one and a half degrees in each direction. This is primarily due to the safety of the tool, since at such low values, unintentional contact with the working edge is safe for humans.

The oscillation frequency is almost always adjustable and, depending on the type of surface being treated, can reach 35,000 movements per minute. Thus, cutting and sawing hard materials, such as concrete and metal, is performed at high speed, scraping at medium speed, and processing plastic, soft wood, foam plastic, etc. at low speed (to avoid scorching and melting of workpieces). The frequency setting can be placed either in a separate regulator or combined with the trigger - the choice of option is often a matter of taste and skill.

Nutrition

Renovators produce both mains-powered and battery-powered ones. The former are usually more powerful, more efficient, more reliable and more suitable for long-term operation, while the latter are indispensable in places with unstable or no power supply.

Currently, the vast majority of autonomous renovators are produced with Li-Ion batteries. This is due to the fact that, compared to models made using other technologies, they store several times more energy with the same volume of the battery itself (higher energy density), charging is possible at any time, since they do not need to be completely discharged (there is no memory effect ) and they have low self-discharge, but there are also disadvantages: they are afraid of violations of operating conditions (deep discharge and overcharging), they need complex protective electronics, they do not hold well high currents, do not work in the cold, are charged only from their own chargers, they have a very pronounced aging effect (degradation) and a not very high full charge rate.

The battery capacity determines how long the tool can work autonomously. It is measured in ampere hours or watt hours. The cheaper the tool, the less the capacity of the batteries installed in it and, accordingly, the operating time, and vice versa.

The voltage of a complete battery depends on the number of standard cells included in its composition and, accordingly, has a step that is a multiple of their number. The more of them and the higher the voltage, the longer the tool will work with the same battery capacity, since the stored energy is greater.

As for the dependence of power on battery voltage, in this case it is only indirect. This is explained by the fact that it is easier and cheaper for the manufacturer to produce a powerful tool with a high battery voltage, since otherwise it would be necessary to use more expensive motors, high-current batteries, and larger diameter conductors. The only disadvantage of batteries of higher voltage will be larger dimensions and heavier weight.

Nozzles

The multifunctionality of renovators is based on a wide variety of replaceable attachments, with the help of which the number of available operations is expanded. Their shape is chosen to suit the tasks assigned to the user, and the material from which they are made is optimized for a specific surface. Most attachments can be installed at different angles. To make the choice easier, manufacturers most often indicate the purpose of each attachment and recommended rules for working with them. Their assortment is huge: spatulas, blades, saws, knives, abrasives, and the number of new ones is only multiplying. The wear resistance of attachments, as a rule, correlates with their cost (sometimes exceeding the price of the tool itself), but correct and appropriate use is the most The best way increase the duration of use (for example, a corundum chisel for jointing can travel several hundred meters until it becomes completely thin, and a metal file will wear out in concrete after just a couple of meters).

Often, attachments are grouped into special sets for a specific application (plumbing, decoration, windows, auto repair shop, garden, etc.)

Equipment can be replaced in a key way or quick-release. The first is cheaper and simpler, while the dimensions of the unit itself are minimal (very important when working in narrow and hard-to-reach places), but it takes longer, since a worn or non-profile nozzle can be replaced only by unscrewing the fasteners. With another method, you just need to install and fix the nozzle by turning the lever, but, as a rule, the lever increases the weight and size of the tool itself. The safety of both fastening methods is satisfactory.

In this option, it is assumed that the tool is used for minor home repairs and the owner is not a professional builder, that is, the renovator will be used a couple of times a month, or even a couple of times a year, however, even in these rare moments it will fully pay for itself. Low-budget, low-power models with a basic (universal) set of attachments would be optimal for this case. Additional equipment, either individually or in large sets, can be purchased later for a specific project or group of tasks. Also, in this profile, there is no need to purchase autonomous models to work without electricity and, because of this, change batteries every couple of years - thus, network renovators will become the optimal choice.

The owner of this profile will benefit from models with medium or high power and vibration frequency adjustment. Moreover, with sufficiently small volumes of work performed or narrow specialization, the tool can even be the main one. It is expected that the main focus will be on pipe cutting, chamfering, jointing tile joints, removal of residual mortar, adhesives, grout, paint, build-up of mixtures, sealants, putties, waterproofing; shaped cutting of tiles and formation of all kinds of channels and openings will also be performed. As you use up the equipment, you can purchase both individual nozzles and entire sets for the plumber

This option assumes that the master is in a large list necessary tools has a professional jigsaw and grinder, and the renovator is used for auxiliary, precise, neat work and where other tools can damage, stain and deform finishing coatings. The main focus will be on sawing (including curved) fiberboards, wood and particle boards, plywood, plasterboard; installation or dismantling of frames, arches, partitions, ceilings; grinding coatings of any shape from wood, metal, plastic, concrete; cutting, installation and dismantling floor coverings and soft materials; cutting nails, studs, pipes; trimming door blocks, baseboards, trim, laminate, parquet, as well as small milling of grooves; sawing, trimming wood, metal, plastic profiles; grinding, fitting parts and many other operations. As you use up the equipment, you can purchase additional attachments or entire sets for the finisher

Basic work - cutting sheet metal and body panels, plastic, grinding, scraping, polishing, etc. This profile also takes into account the often low quality of the supplied power supply, for example, in garages, or the inconvenience of its use, for example, in a parking lot. For those who regularly repair or restore cars, the Renovator will truly be worth the purchase from the first use. To expand the capabilities of the tool or replace a worn-out attachment, you can select the necessary set for the motorist

The professions and specializations taken above as an example can be continued indefinitely: window workers, balcony workers, furniture makers, electricians, restorers and many others. They will be able to choose a renovator for themselves in accordance with the tasks and focusing on the required power, number of nozzles and power system.
Well, let’s choose a renovator and learn a new profession!

Any man knows what an electric drill, hammer drill, grinder or screwdriver is. But the question of a renovator puzzles many. Let's figure out what type of work it is suitable for and how to choose the right multifunctional tool.

The renovator does not have a single, established name. Similar models went on sale not long ago, and even experts call them differently. If the reader hears such expressions as “vibro-gnaw”, multi-tool, oscillating grinder/tool, universal cutter, vibrating machine, multi-master, there is no doubt that we are talking about a renovator. Although these are not the only examples of how he is “called names.”

By using of this instrument can perform many different actions. Depending on the number and type of nozzles - several dozen. But it is worth considering that the renovator is not suitable for large-scale use, for example, at a construction site.

The scope of its use is restoration of anything, minor repairs, Finishing work, manufacturing various crafts and so on. At making the right choice he alone replaces several household tools, and ensures more accurate execution of operations. For example, for cutting samples, figure cutting blanks, grinding and so on. The capabilities of a specific renovator model are reflected in its passport (instructions).

All electric tools (and multitools are no exception) are divided into groups: household, semi- and professional.

You can purchase a renovator in different ways. Option 1 – buy the tool itself, and then the necessary attachments, at retail. But only from the same manufacturer! Option 2 – take the kit. But here the question arises - what does it include? Different models from different companies come with their own set of accessories.

Conclusion - before choosing a multitool, you should decide how intensively it will be used and what, in fact, it is needed for. When a tool is needed “for all occasions,” this is one thing, but if it is needed to perform a narrow range of specific tasks, it is another.

What's the point of spending money on a large set of accessories and a powerful machine if the house has such electric tools as, for example, an angle grinder () and a drill. This will result in duplication of individual functions.

Rules for choosing a renovator

By power (kW, no more)

0.1 is quite enough for simple work with low-density materials: wood, gypsum board, plastic, linoleum, and so on.

0.2 – such a renovator allows you to do almost everything household work for minor repairs.

0.3 – this tool belongs to the “semi-professional” class.

˃ 0.3 – renovators with a power of 300 W or more are suitable for intensive, continuous use. They allow you to work with almost all materials.

By vibration frequency

Any renovator is, in fact, an angle grinder + an oscillator.

Therefore, in relation to a multitool, the vibration frequency of the working part is more relevant than the number of revolutions. At the upper limit, this parameter is identical for almost all renovators (about 21,000 per minute), but at the lower limit there is a difference, and a very significant one, depending on the model.

What frequencies are used for different materials:

  • The lower ones are for hard samples (for example, metals, artificial stones).
  • Medium – when working with plastics.
  • Upper – for plasters and wood-based products.

Renovators’ passports also indicate such a characteristic as the angle of oscillation. It is almost the same for all multitools, and you shouldn’t pay attention to it. The value is determined design The tool cannot be adjusted.

According to gearbox design

Any electric tool heats up during operation. Metal body removes heat more efficiently. The durability of the tool also depends on the material of the fork and eccentric, which ensure vibrations of the working part. They should be made of steel and not any soft alloys.

What else to pay attention to:

  • Soldered wire connections are much more reliable than screw connections.
  • Reliable fixation of brush installation channels.
  • Bearing shells in landing areas.
  • Fastening of equipment: quick-clamping (friction) is preferable. It is not so convenient to work with a traditional hexagon.

By nutrition

Renovators can connect to the electrical network or run on battery power. How important this is, everyone will decide for themselves. But batteries have a shelf life and, in addition, require proper care. Yes, and they are quite expensive. Therefore, these disadvantages somewhat reduce the advantage of mobile renovators, such as complete autonomy of operation.

By manufacturer

The durability of too cheap models (less than 3,500 rubles) raises certain doubts. In addition, their equipment is very primitive and is unlikely to meet all the buyer’s expectations. Practice shows that if you save on a tool, you will then have to spend both time (along with nerves) and money to purchase another (or even several) necessary attachments.

It is also necessary to focus on the level of technical support for products in your region. Is there any locality renovator repair services? If yes, which models?

Renovators from world-famous companies are more expensive and, as a rule, these are semi- or professional tools - “Black&Decker”, “Hilti”, “AEG”, “Bosch”, “Makita”, “Dremel”, “DeWALT”.

By choosing a model from a well-known manufacturer, the buyer will not encounter problems during the warranty and post-warranty periods. But with renovators of dubious origin they will certainly arise.

Some features of the tool

They are not of fundamental importance, but provide only ease of use. Each master has his own preferences, so choosing a renovator based on these parameters is a matter of taste.

  • Turning on the tool, changing operating modes - with a trigger or a slider.
  • Working handles – 1 or 2 (the second is additional).
  • Limitation of nozzle immersion - remotely or manually.
  • Specifics of mounting the dust extractor.
  • Availability of the function " smooth start" It significantly increases the service life of the renovator and reduces the wear of devices (attachments), which are expensive.

Selection of attachments and accessories

Here it is necessary to focus on the specific application of the tool. But you definitely can’t do without vacuum attachments. They remove from working area not only the resulting dust, but also small fractions formed during cutting and grinding of samples. The rest can only be listed, although it is impossible to indicate the entire range of accessories.

  • Knives (without teeth) – for cutting linoleum, carpet and similar materials.
  • Blades – scrapers, semicircular and others.
  • Files.
  • Shoulder blades.
  • Cutters for various purposes.
  • Abrasives – stone (for example, deltoid) or disc.
  • Protective glasses.

You should not skimp on the renovator. Taking into account the fact that, as noted, this electronic tool replaces several others, the costs for it are justified and will fully pay off.

Thanks to one multifunctional electric tool you can perform many various works, which, with a regular set of tools, can require professional skills and a lot of time. In this article we will talk about the capabilities of engravers and renovators, consider positive and negative reviews, as well as what you need to pay attention to when choosing tools.

Under multi-function electrical equipment imply oscillatory instruments based on vibrations of the working part. They are usually called “renovator”, more precisely, a universal tool for repair, finishing, and restoration work. But there is no exact name, some manufacturers or stores call them: oscillatory grinding tool, vibrating universal machine, universal cutter, multimaster and even vibrating cutter.

The principle of operation is similar to vibration grinding machines, in other words, processing of material using vibration of the working part. But the ability to install different attachments is precisely what makes this equipment a universal device. With just one renovator it is possible to produce dozens, including: cutting and cutting of almost all sheet materials; section of a part made of plastic, wood, plasterboard, ceramics, brick or iron; dismantling, cleaning the surface from plaster, silicone, putty, glue; cutout of a rectangular opening, a cut in a hard-to-reach place or an exact cut; grouting, sanding or grinding, etc.

Types of Multi-Tools

According to reviews, today the most popular solution is the renovator described above. It can be in a set of home tools or replace a whole range of them. Be an additional tool for installation work, crafts, repairs. It can even be the main tool if you do not have a large amount of one job, but you constantly encounter with non-standard and various tasks.

Some manufacturers in multi-renovations have gone even further: an intermediate nozzle is connected to the electric drive, which makes it possible to change the operating principle of the equipment. The change in specialization occurs thanks to interchangeable heads, each of them corresponds to a specific type of tool - renovator, drill, etc. The intermediate head can force the final attachment to move forward, vibrate or rotate. These kits are called “multi-tools”; their capabilities depend directly on the configuration.

The experience of dentists in removing material from a “part,” crushing, grinding and micro-milling can be completely transferred to the world of the home craftsman. Such a set of tools, which has a traditional rotation principle, is called a “rotary engraver.” These tools are designed for small amounts of work and are perfect in cases where it is important accuracy and precision. Possibilities home use also depend directly on the set and configuration of nozzles.

An electric chisel, a hammer drill, and a miniature jackhammer belong to the “percussion engraver” section. Used for embossing and engraving. This is probably the least popular multi-tool option.

Advantages and differences of renovators

Many works that are carried out with hand tools differ only in pendulum or reciprocating movements. If we perform them electrically, but reduce the amplitude of movement of the working area by increasing the frequency, then we will have all the advantages hand tools, and wherein increase productivity. As a result:

  • simplicity of work, without the presence of “professionalism”;
  • high quality and precision of materials processing;
  • tool safety and work safety (especially in contrast to high-speed tools that create the effect of ejection of equipment and material);
  • small amount of dust, minimal production of parts;
  • the ability to carry out non-standard work;
  • the ability to work with materials of any elasticity and hardness.

Renovator attachments and equipment

Each specific job can be performed using a renovator only if the kit includes specific nozzle. There are two most common ways to select a renovator:

Regardless of the approach you need to pay attention to:

  • Availability of positive reviews about the tool.
  • Availability or availability of attachments for the selected renovator model.
  • What attachments are required for your work, are they included in the kit, or are they available for sale?
  • The set includes adapters for fixing equipment from other companies or the ability to purchase this adapter separately.
  • The universality of the seat on the renovator, the ability to install attachments from other manufacturers.
  • Some sets of attachments describe the total number of attachment heads in the set and, as a rule, this number is “caught up” with sanding sheet attachments.
  • The location of the place in the case for storing attachments, purchase a separate case or save money and ensure storage by other means.

The most popular method of fixation is when the nozzle is secured with a screw (hexagon). The more expensive one allows for quick replacement of nozzles using a specially designed lock.

The description of any attachment indicates its purpose and materials, which will be possible to process (ceramics, wood, glass, concrete, plastic, etc.). The nozzle sockets are either “tailored” to a specific manufacturer, or can be universal.

The most popular attachments for household use

Segmented disk. It is made in the form of an incomplete circle, with part of a segment of complex shape or with a cut edge. Some manufacturers equip the tool with solid discs. Most often, they are all specialized according to the type of materials and the task at hand. The disc can be rasp, grinding and polishing, or saw.

Delta platform. This attachment makes it possible to carry out grinding work. Depending on the manufacturer, the size may vary. Sanding sheets are attached to this attachment.

Inexpensive models usually have a solid platform. On more expensive ones, which have a system for connecting vacuum cleaners - with holes for dust removal. Do not forget that the installed sanding sheets must have the same holes.

Triangular attachments with diamond chips for sawing, carbide attachments, and polishing are also produced.

Saw blade. Has a complex or rectangular shape. Makes it possible to perform plunge-cut or other sawing of various materials. Selected according to the material and the task at hand.

Depth limiter. An element that makes it possible to make cuts of certain sizes and depths, even when it is impossible to visually control the depth of the cut.

Scraper. Often also called a scraper, scraper, chisel. Used to remove residues building mixtures and glue, for cleaning surfaces, cutting and dismantling coatings, clearing seams, etc.

With the popularity of renovators and consumer reviews, the scope of their use, the improvement of attachments, and the expansion of applied tasks are also increasing. Nowadays you can see universal holders on the market; they make it possible to include in the kit many new forms of cutters, tips, grinding attachments, saw blades etc.

Features of choosing a renovator

Before purchasing, pay attention to the location of the buttons, the shape of the device, the presence of protection and grips. Can add comfort at work reverse function, soft start system, the ability to connect a vacuum cleaner or an additional handle.

Although the dust does not rise in a column during the renovator’s work, the quality of the work decreases, which is all the more important when grinding. The ability to connect a vacuum cleaner in this case is not at all an extravagance, but simply a necessity. How is the pipe connected, is it convenient or not to operate and hold the tool, how visible is the view?

Without a smooth start, it is difficult to crash into a critical part cleanly, without error.

When performing non-standard and complex work, you will quickly get tired of heavy equipment. Therefore, when buying a renovator, focus on reviews, the weight of the device and your endurance. But also remember that it’s easy to make a tool lighter with plastic, but making plastic parts durable is more difficult. High-quality winding and motor armature will always be massive.

Renovator power and supply

These instruments, like many others, are powered by from batteries or mains. All the advantages and disadvantages of battery units, which are generally suitable for all electrical equipment, are noticeable here, but with a small clarification: even for networked models, more power is not needed. Therefore, battery-powered ones, although slightly worse in performance, are not global. You can forget about choosing power. Select a battery model based on operating time, convenience, and reviews.

In terms of power level everything is today existing models can be divided into the following groups:

  • Up to 100 Watt – for undemanding and light tasks. From cardboard to plywood there will be no problems, just like with plastics and linoleum. Small and simple grinding and stripping operations are quite doable.
  • 100-200 Watt – average load level, suitable for occasional use and many rare household jobs.
  • 200-300 Watt - makes it possible to work with any materials specified in the instructions without overload. Is semi professional tool.
  • Over 300 Watt – durable equipment that easily works with any materials. Typically used for professional purposes.

Oscillation angle, frequency and revolutions

RPM is more important for multi-tools with an attachment that is used to rotate. For renovators the most important level of fluctuations in the working area. For various types work and materials, the optimal frequency indicators are also different. Therefore, the mode for adjusting the speed or oscillation frequency is of primary importance.

On various products adjustment can be stepped or smooth. The minimum limit for renovators differs significantly, and the maximum limit is usually no more than 22,000 strokes/minute. When cutting metals and hard materials minimum frequency limits are established, for plastic – average, for plaster and soft wood– maximum, as for grinding work.

An indicator not adjustable by the user is the angle of oscillation (often indicated as oscillation). It differs insignificantly in each model: 1.3 – 1.7°. Some manufacturers designate the amplitude not from the middle position, but the full one, in this case this indicator looks like this: 2.7 - 3.3°. None of the manufacturers substantiate the information on amplitude, although it is easy to understand what exactly it affects: the stroke size of the working part of the nozzle. The higher the amplitude, the larger or longer the diameter of the nozzle, the longer its movement along the part. This parameter has almost no effect on the choice of tool.

In my house big choice power tools - grinder, screwdriver, hammer drill, many attachments for them. Knowing my hobby, my work colleagues gave me a renovator. Now I am doing “sea trials” of this device. I’ll answer right away - so far I haven’t noticed anything that I couldn’t do with the tools I have, but I don’t deny that it’s much better and easier to do this as a renovator. Moreover, this concerns cutting nails, drywall and wood. My opinion is that if you don’t mind the money, then you can buy this tool. I would be glad if my review could help you.

Andrey. Moscow

We recently bought it because we had heard a lot from friends. The first thing I really liked was the weight; the set included a couple of discs for various surfaces, vacuum cleaner attachment, scraper attachment and sanding attachment. Everything was good quality. We immediately bought a set of 38 accessories. Great item for home renovation. Excellent for removing linoleum and sealant. The price definitely corresponds to the quality. We were pleased with the purchase, I think this is a gift for this money.

Victor. Yalta

The tool itself is irreplaceable. Convenient for any work, especially in hard-to-reach areas. But I didn’t take into account one thing, the original attachments (files and others Consumables) wear out quite quickly, and it is no longer possible to repair and correct them. Purchasing original spare parts costs half the price of the tool. Therefore, I recommend purchasing analogues of this miracle device, where spare parts will be more accessible.

Multitools, or otherwise known as renovators, are multifunctional power tools that are compact and have a wide variety of tool capabilities that can be used both at home and in production. The word “renovator” has actually become a household word among people and shops; it is used everywhere as the name of a tool, although the correct name is “multi-tool.”

Choosing a high-quality electric multifunctional device is not easy - you need to take into account its functionality, degree of versatility and technical features. We will conduct an impartial top review of innovative models and help you choose a reliable model.

Rules for choosing multitools

When choosing a renovator, multi-purpose equipment, it is important to find a healthy balance between versatility and quality. A large number of functions in the device will indicate a decrease in the quality of individual operations, and confirmation of high performance can be:

  • High speed of movement;
  • Wide oscillation range;
  • Availability of dust removal function;
  • Fixation of tool-free equipment;
  • Availability of removable battery;
  • High ergonomics.

Let's look at the features universal tools, which are invariably included in the top ratings, in more detail, and then compare their parameters.

Attachments for multitools and rules for their selection

It is important not only to choose the right quality multitool, but also to find suitable attachments for it. Many companies offer components that, using special adapters, can be installed on various multifunctional devices. In addition, vacuum elements are considered a must-have, allowing you to eliminate work surface the resulting dust and small fractions that appear during grinding and cutting.

When purchasing a renovator, it is worth considering the cost and the possibility of interchangeability of consumables, since there are differences between different manufacturers.

When choosing a nozzle, you need to focus on how often and for what the renovator will be used. Among the most popular components we should mention:

  • Spatulas;
  • Blades;
  • Saws;
  • Serrated and serrated knives;
  • Abrasive surfaces.
Types of attachments for multitools

Types of multitools and their areas of application

All existing multitools are usually divided into:

  • Electrical powered from a fixed network;

The multitool is also equipped with a VECTURO plug-it cable, which ensures instant activation of the unit. Unlike previous multifunctional devices supplied in containers, this model is supplied in Systainers complete with installation tools and cutting blades.

Perhaps it is the best professional tool, but its cost is 50,000 rubles. available only to reputable construction companies.

This unit differs from the models presented in the list by the presence of linings on the body, made of microtexture, which makes it easier to hold the machine. You can change the attachments on this multitool without using additional tools, but experts call the disadvantage of the device the shape of the body, which is difficult to hold in your hands during operation.

Affordable price from 5000 rub. good equipment.

Worx WX675

The device is positioned as one of the few products that have universal equipment suitable for multitools from almost all manufacturers. However, the device does not have such a reliable fixation, and also requires manual removal of dust during operation. The equipment of this multifunctional unit is compatible with multitools from other manufacturers.

A powerful machine that is primarily suitable for professionals. Multitool suitable for abrasive cleaning, cutting and removing mortar and allows you to quickly cope with tasks thanks to a high-performance engine. The device is equipped with a system Quick-Fit, which helps to quickly change attachments, but is poorly compatible with attachments from other manufacturers.

Skil MultiTasker 1470LA

With this multifunctional tool you can work equally effectively at home and at personal plot. An adapter is supplied with the unit, compatible with most vacuum cleaners, which will ensure cleanliness in the room after completion of work. The device is also equipped with a segmented blade, which allows you to make plunge cuts not only in wood, but also in plastic. The speed control in this multifunctional device is very smooth; for the most comfortable control of the equipment, an ergonomic handle with a soft, vibration-softening coating is provided.

Inexpensive renovator model Skil 1470 LA price starts from 2500 rubles. Accordingly, you don’t have to expect super results from it.

Rinovator Diold MEV-0.34 MV

First of domestic models in this top. This multitool has undergone numerous modifications, so it has a good powerful motor and an increased oscillation angle. The developers also equipped the unit with an improved cooling system and a vibration damping system. As a result, the multitool received characteristics that allow it to be used only in everyday life, but also in production. At the same time, the cost of the device is an order of magnitude lower than its analogue, also presented in this review of the Renovator. But for 2500 rubles. purchase a powerful 350 W instrument.

Enkor MFE‑400E

This is quite powerful equipment with a simple design. The unit, although functional, causes a lot of trouble during operation, in particular, it produces too loud a sound with a low level of vibration, and since the model does not have a seal, dust may appear. Also, the developer did not provide for the possibility of connecting the device to a vacuum cleaner and an adapter (not only is it not included in the kit, but it is also not on sale). The series is very simple, so it is recommended for performing periodic non-professional work on home improvement and gardening.

"Renovator"

Exactly the Renovator model

The last of the top representatives is Renovator, which has an interesting technical device. The equipment for the unit is sold in parts and has a high cost of about 2,500 rubles, but this eliminates the need to buy unnecessary attachments. The components are fixed using a screw. The model is also distinguished by an acceptable level of vibration and a result that, in some cases, exceeds the results of more expensive popular foreign analogues.

Unlike similar renovators, this device can only work with original equipment, and purchasing a special adapter for this model is quite problematic. Fixing the attachments is also not very convenient: the operation is performed with a special screw, which can only be unscrewed by removing three small parts. Another disadvantage of the Renovator is the poor collection of dust by the dust collector, which is made from sealing elements, the quality of which leaves much to be desired.

Comparison of analyzed models

Comparison table renovator (multi-tool)

All listed renovators (multi-tool) can become either an excellent addition to the main set of working tools, or the only unit that you will use for work in the house or in the garden.

Multitools rarely have high power, since manufacturers focus on maximum stroke rate and compactness of tools. The power ratings of such units range between 150 and 300 watts

As the above descriptions and table indicate, you need to select a multitool carefully and carefully. First of all, you need to consider whether it will be used in a business or at home. Having selected a suitable model, you can immediately buy a model with attachments, which will cost a lot. Therefore, a good solution is to purchase a multifunctional device, and then gradually purchase components for it at retail, which can be completed as the need arises. Also take into account whether the machine is intended to be used to solve one specific task or, for which electric multitools were actually invented, in different areas (as a carver, grinder, etc.). There is no point in saving on renovators - such a purchase pays off quite quickly, because the devices work properly for many years.

The internal structure of modern multi-function vibrating or oscillating tools is very similar. The new class, the ancestor of which was FEIN GmbH and its pioneer MultiMaster, which was originally used as a cutter for removing plaster in hospitals, turned out to be very successful and has remained practically unchanged. When the patent for the technology expired in 2008, other manufacturers also joined in the development of their devices.

The body of the tool is very similar to a small angle grinder, in which a small motor is located, but unlike the first, the rotational movement in the drive device is converted into oscillatory movements of the working shaft with a small amplitude (usually 1.4-1.6 degrees relative to the axis) and high speed fluctuations of 20-30 thousand per minute.

Due to this principle of operation, a number of advantages have appeared over tools based on a rotary or translational principle of operation: no recoil, no centrifugal ejection of material and no danger of rupture of equipment, low dust formation, the ability to perform plunge cuts, process almost any materials from concrete and metal to plastic and wood, up to elastic, and all this without the use of force (my 12-year-old daughter calmly holds it with one hand while working) and with the highest quality of workmanship (when sawing laminated chipboard, there are practically no chips and the edge turns out practically polished without requiring additional grinding before edging).

I don’t agree with the previous author that there will be only one tool in the house that replaces everything, but they really can perform many operations easier and with better quality. Install a metal threshold under door frame, removing a flush protruding nail or self-tapping screw, cutting under a socket in a hard-to-reach place now takes just a few minutes. Tilers will tell you how difficult it is to replace a chipped tile, but thanks to this tool you can carefully remove the chipped one in place, clean off the old adhesive mortar, and even cut a new one to size. It all depends on the attachments used and success depends precisely on their proper selection.

When choosing a tool, you shouldn’t chase cheapness - Chinese crafts like Renovator often die during the first month of easy use (the same applies to equipment) and you will only experience disappointment, and you shouldn’t buy the most expensive units with all the known attachments.

It is more practical to first determine the place of application, the possible range of work with the tool using the description on the manufacturer’s website or videos on Yotube for almost any model and manufacturer from the Chinese Renovator to the top-end new FEIN products and the presence or absence of an electrical network.

Accordingly, the need to purchase a more expensive cordless tool and more expensive attachments (for example, for working with concrete or hardened metal) will be determined.

Next, we determine the intensity of application. If you will often use the tool, then you should take a closer look at professional models famous manufacturers, in case of infrequent use for minor home repairs, then younger models are sufficient. (For example, Bosh determines this by color: blue is a professional tool, and green is a household tool).

The use of such devices requires a fairly frequent change of attachments, and almost all manufacturers are concerned with producing models that allow this to be done without special keys, which always disappear somewhere, and other devices using a locking lever.

The final stage is the selection of nozzles and equipment. Each manufacturer has its own know-how and different mounting locations are possible, the problem of which, however, is solved by purchasing adapters. I recommend a depth stop and a dust removal system for sanding work.

As I said above, it is better to purchase attachments in a small basic configuration with the tool, and then, if necessary, purchase the necessary ones separately. Purchasing specialized sets or small wholesale ones is usually much more profitable.

And the list of them... well, is very long!) You can always look at the scope and possible attachments on the websites of well-known manufacturers and then find a seller of what you need or purchase it through an online store. Well, first read the reviews about the model you like.

And once again about *free cheese*... Don’t try to buy cheap attachments a la *Especially for Leroy from sunny Changzhen*. At the beginning of using my tool, I also tried to save money. As a rule, such attachments are *disposable* and do not fulfill the declared properties. So, when sawing thin chipboard with a *metal-hardwood* saw attachment, two furniture clips got caught under the cut. The result is that a third of the teeth were lost... I changed the attachment to a more expensive one from the tool manufacturer, which I had been using for several months and, without fear, I cut off the remnants of all the remaining paper clips and several self-tapping screws that slightly protruded from the surface and corrected the flaws of the previous sawing. Still alive!)))
