The Russian people love heroes, glorify and honor them, compose songs about their exploits - about how they cherish and protect their native Rus'.

The life of our ancestors was difficult. They had to fight not only with nature, but with nomadic tribes: the Pechenegs, Cumans, Khazars, Tatar-Mongols, who attacked Rus', plundered and burned villages, took children and women into captivity, and killed men and old people. Everyone who could hold a weapon in their hands stood up to defend their native land, and among them stood out strong and courageous warriors, who were called heroes, knights.

Singing the heroes, the epics called for heroic deeds for the glory of the Fatherland, raised the people's spirit in difficult times, instilled in young men love for the Motherland and hatred for enemies, and despite temporary defeats, the glorious Russians always turned out to be winners.
