Crimea flower exhibition chrysanthemum ball. How to protect yourself from nitrates in early vegetables and fruits? What can you see at the autumn flower ball exhibition

Yalta, October 25. Kryminform. The Chrysanthemum Ball opened today in Nikitsky botanical garden. This year, visitors to the National Science Center will be able to enjoy the play of shapes and colors of almost 37 thousand flowers of 360 varieties.

Opening the festival, the director of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, Yuri Plugatar, recalled that over the past three years, NBS specialists have managed to do a lot that visitors can see with their own eyes.

“We are especially pleased with our scientific achievements, and thanks to the support of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, Federal agency scientific organizations, Russian Science Foundation, Russian Academy Sciences Nikitsky Botanical Garden managed to restore its laboratories, greenhouses, instrumentation and machine-tractor bases,” he said and added that the high value of the work and success of the garden is confirmed by the fact that its employees this year made presentations in many foreign countries, including China, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Iran, Brazil, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the same time, he noted that the Chrysanthemum Ball was being held in the garden for the 64th time. “In Moscow the temperature is already below zero, in St. Petersburg it is cold, somewhere in the world there are cataclysms, but here we have chrysanthemums blooming,” he noted with a smile.

According to NBS specialists, in just a few days, when the large-flowered chrysanthemums fully bloom, guests of the garden will have the opportunity to fully appreciate the miracle of the composition of a huge multi-colored “flower” with an area of 773 square meters.

“Each of its eight “petals” will be painted in its own color - red, yellow, orange, pink, lilac, crimson, white and ocher,” noted breeder Natalya Smykova, drawing attention to the “secret” - use in the creation festive composition 110 varieties and four hybrid forms of chrysanthemums.

On another 20 curtains with a total area of 1.1 thousand square meters in the central part of the Arboretum of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, according to her information, small-flowered medium and tall chrysanthemums of 180 varieties are presented, and on two sections of the northern side there are new selections - 8 varieties of large-flowered and 33 varieties of small-flowered chrysanthemums, as well as new hybrid forms - 9 large-flowered and 50 small-flowered.

Following the results of last year's ball, she said, the breeders of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden gave names to new varieties of chrysanthemums, choosing from those proposed by popular vote.

“The garden guests offered hundreds of witty and bright names“, she clarified, noting that as a result of the selection, the famous collection of chrysanthemums in the garden was replenished with new items, which at the current ball are already indicated by the corresponding signs: “Fairy Flower”, “Fairytale Elf”, “Yalta Dawn” and “Merry Lady”. Also among the new chrysanthemums, Smykova recalled, the variety “Heart of Artek” appeared, the name of which was proposed on the opening day of last year’s holiday by participants in the next shift of the international children’s center.

The tradition that emerged last year by popular vote not only to choose the queen and princess of the ball, but also to assign names to new hybrids will continue this year. “New chrysanthemums with number plates are planted in two separate areas, and garden guests can suggest their name for their favorite flower,” the breeder assured.

Representatives of the leadership of the Yalta Municipality came to congratulate the staff of the National Science Center on the opening of the next Chrysanthemum Ball and their achievements. The Chairman of the Yalta City Council, Roman Derkach, on behalf of the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Vladimir Konstantinov, thanked the employees of the NBS for the beauty that they give to the Crimeans and guests of the resort, for their fruitful scientific work.

“Every time you are here, you immerse yourself in a world of goodness, harmony, flowers and wonderful emotions,” he assured, noting that behind all this is the painstaking work of garden specialists who give all their love and put their souls into the development of this unique corner .

Deputy Head of the Yalta Administration Konstantin Shimanovsky, for his part, presented the head of the NBS with a welcoming address on behalf of the acting head of the city administration, Elena Sotnikova.

Pupils of the Gurzuf art studio presented their drawings depicting chrysanthemums as a gift to the garden workers, and the NBS team was congratulated with vocal, dance and instrumental numbers by creative teams, young and experienced artists from the Yalta region, as well as cadets of the Alushta Cadet School.

Flower balls of different sizes and incredible colors surround you on all sides. Unimaginable aromas make your head spin. The gaze is lost in the variety of colors and shapes and it takes time to adapt to the surrounding reality. This is not a fictional description magical world, this is the chrysanthemum ball in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden.

Welcome …

...to the Chrysanthemum Ball

Chrysanthemum is the oldest flower grown by man. This flower culture about 3000 years. “Golden Flower” (translated from Greek “hrysos” - gold and “anthemos” - flower) comes from the east. His native home is China and Japan. Although today, perhaps, it is not entirely correct to call the chrysanthemum a “golden flower”. Thanks to the efforts of breeders, you can see chrysanthemums of any unusual color. This flower is one of the main symbols of Japan. After all, in the minds of local residents it is inextricably linked with the sun. Even the words denoting the concepts “chrysanthemum” and “sun” are depicted with the same hieroglyph and sound the same. In addition, from the 7th century to the present day, the chrysanthemum flower has been the coat of arms of the Japanese imperial house, and is also used as the official coat of arms of the country.

In Europe chrysanthemums for a long time couldn't fit in. This flower was first brought from Japan to England by the Dutch traveler Reede back in 1676. But this event went unnoticed by Europeans. A century later, in 1789, chrysanthemums were again in Europe, they were delivered to Marseille by Captain Pierre Marshall. And only forty years later, in 1829, thanks to the Toulouse gardener Berne, who conducted experiments on the cultivation of chrysanthemums, these flowers became famous.

Every year at the end of October, the Nikitsky Botanical Garden invites everyone to the Chrysanthemum Ball under open air. This year the opening took place on the 26th. Taught by the experience of previous visits to this flower festival, we decided to go to the exhibition on a weekday, October 29, and we were right. There were few visitors. Although, we think that on weekends there was not such a crowd as in previous times. Still, this year Crimea is not spoiled by tourists.

The first ball in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden took place back in 1953. This is already the 61st chrysanthemum exhibition. According to employees, visitors will be able to see about 30 thousand plants of two hundred and fifty varieties. The third part of this huge number of varieties was bred by workers of the Nikitsky Garden.

The exhibition is geographically divided into two parts. The first part, the exhibition part, is located near the main entrance and borders large area on which there is a swimming pool and a monument to Lenin used to stand. Now, in place of the bust of the leader of the world proletariat, Flora, the ancient Roman goddess of flowers, blossoming, spring and field fruits, flaunts in full height. The second part is located a little further, next to the labyrinth and is a flower installation. Many chrysanthemums of various varieties form a certain picture on the ground.

First we went up to the outside balcony administrative building, enclosing one of the sides of the square. From there it opens good view for the first part of the exhibition.

From the balcony of this building there is a good view…

Well, after that we plunged headlong into the sea of flowers. Large and small, “plush” and “sharp”, flat and in the form of huge balls - such a variety of chrysanthemums collected in one place is rarely seen anywhere. I can’t even believe that it was all the same originally. yellow flower, somewhat reminiscent of a chamomile, which, thanks to breeders, has acquired a huge number of shapes, sizes and colors.

For a while you just get lost, you don’t know where to look or what to photograph. We clicked the camera shutter for about an hour, trying to capture as many of these beauties as possible. Of course, we did not photograph all varieties. Firstly, some of the chrysanthemums had not yet blossomed, and secondly, there were a lot of them.

Variety "Ocher Ray"

Variety "Cutie"

We walked until the music stopped playing. In the midst of this floral splendor, on a small paved area, a man masterfully played wine glasses. What would a ball be without music? Maybe he doesn't play every day and we're just lucky.

Chrysanthemums are mainly planted in sections different sizes. Each section has a sign with the name of the variety. Thanks to this, visitors can take part in the election of the Princess and Queen of the Ball or buy their favorite varieties of chrysanthemums.

We also filled out the ballots and threw them into the ballot box. On our side, the Two Tone Pink variety claimed the role of the Princess, and Revert, the Queen. But, unfortunately, other beauties won this year. The “Kiko” chrysanthemum variety was chosen as the Queen of the ball, and the “Cappuccino” variety was chosen as the Princess. Both varieties are mid-late and, at the time of our visit to the exhibition, had not yet flowered. That's why we don't have photos of the winners.

Summer is not only summer season, sun, vacation, warm sea, but also fresh vegetables, berries and fruits. However, today, when looking at market stalls, the question increasingly arises: is it possible to eat such early watermelons, melons, cucumbers, corn, tomatoes, etc., which could not yet ripen in the open ground? Are early vegetables and fruits dangerous? Do early watermelons and melons fall into the category of nitrate products that can cause poisoning?

We sowed or planted most of the plants in the spring and it seems that in the middle of summer we can already relax. But experienced gardeners know that July is the time to plant vegetables to obtain late harvest and the possibility of longer storage. This also applies to potatoes. It is better to use the early summer potato harvest quickly; it is not suitable for long-term storage. But the second harvest of potatoes is exactly what is needed for winter and spring use.

Petunia occupies the first step of the hit parade of the most popular annual plants for more than a dozen years now. It is also valued in urban landscaping, and few private flowerbed can do without this bright flyer. This popularity has reasonable justifications - attractive appearance, variety of shapes and colors, ease of care and long lasting abundant flowering. However, the petunias in our gardens do not always correspond to those depicted on the Internet.

Chickpeas with meat and cheese sauce - incredibly tasty! This dish is suitable for both a regular dinner with the family and a Sunday lunch with friends. It doesn’t take much time to prepare, just a little less than an hour, and the result is worth it. Fragrant meat with sweet young carrots and thick cream sauce- what could be tastier? For the sauce, I recommend hard, spicy cheese - Parmesan, cheddar, and you can use almost any meat, it is important that it is not fatty.

Astrakhan tomatoes ripen remarkably well lying on the ground, but this experience should not be repeated in the Moscow region. Our tomatoes need support, support, garter. My neighbors use all sorts of stakes, tie-downs, loops, ready-made plant supports and mesh fencing. Each method of fixing a plant in a vertical position has its own advantages and “ side effects" I'll tell you how I place tomato bushes on trellises and what comes out of it.

Bulgur with pumpkin is an every day dish that can be easily prepared in half an hour. Bulgur is boiled separately, the cooking time depends on the size of the grains - whole and coarse grinding takes about 20 minutes, fine grinding literally a few minutes, sometimes the cereal is simply poured with boiling water, like couscous. While the cereal is cooking, prepare the pumpkin in sour cream sauce, and then combine the ingredients. If you replace melted butter with vegetable oil and sour cream with soy cream, then it can be included in the Lenten menu.

Flies are a sign of unsanitary conditions and vectors infectious diseases, dangerous for both people and animals. People are constantly looking for ways to get rid of unpleasant insects. In this article we will talk about the Zlobny TED brand, which specializes in fly repellents and knows a lot about them. The manufacturer has developed a specialized line of products to get rid of flying insects anywhere quickly, safely and at no extra cost.

The summer months are the time for hydrangeas to bloom. This beautiful deciduous shrub produces luxuriously fragrant flowers from June to September. Florists readily use large inflorescences for wedding decorations and bouquets. To admire the beauty flowering bush hydrangeas in your garden, you should take care of the proper conditions for it. Unfortunately, some hydrangeas do not bloom year after year, despite the care and efforts of gardeners. We will explain why this happens in the article.

Every summer resident knows that plants need nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for full development. These are the three main macronutrients, the deficiency of which significantly affects appearance and plant yield, and in advanced cases can lead to their death. But not everyone understands the importance of other macro- and microelements for plant health. And they are important not only in themselves, but also for the effective absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Garden strawberries, or strawberry, as we used to call it - one of the earliest fragrant berries, which summer generously bestows upon us. How happy we are about this harvest! In order for the “berry boom” to repeat every year, we need to take care of the berry bushes in the summer (after the end of fruiting). The laying of flower buds, from which ovaries will form in the spring and berries in the summer, begins approximately 30 days after the end of fruiting.

Spicy pickled watermelon is a savory appetizer for fatty meat. Watermelons and watermelon rinds They have been pickling since time immemorial, but this process is labor-intensive and time-consuming. According to my recipe, you can simply prepare pickled watermelon in 10 minutes, and by the evening the spicy appetizer will be ready. Watermelon marinated with spices and chili can be stored in the refrigerator for several days. Be sure to keep the jar in the refrigerator, not only for the sake of safety - when chilled, this snack is simply licking your fingers!

Among the variety of species and hybrids of philodendrons, there are many plants, both gigantic and compact. But not a single species competes in unpretentiousness with the main modest one - the blushing philodendron. True, his modesty does not concern the appearance of the plant. Blushing stems and cuttings, huge leaves, long shoots, forming, although a very large, but also strikingly elegant silhouette, look very elegant. Philodendron blushing requires only one thing - at least minimal care.

Thick chickpea soup with vegetables and egg is a simple recipe for a hearty first course, inspired by oriental cuisine. Similar thick soups are prepared in India, Morocco, and other countries South-East Asia. The tone is set by spices and seasonings - garlic, chili, ginger and a bouquet of spicy spices, which can be assembled to your taste. It is better to fry vegetables and spices in clarified butter (ghee) or mix olive oil and butter, it's certainly not the same, but it tastes similar.

Plum - well, who isn’t familiar with it?! She is loved by many gardeners. And all because it has an impressive list of varieties, it’s surprising excellent harvests, pleases with its diversity in terms of ripening and a huge selection of color, shape and taste of fruits. Yes, in some places it feels better, in others it feels worse, but almost no summer resident gives up the pleasure of growing it on his plot. Today it can be found not only in the south, in middle lane, but also in the Urals and Siberia.

Many decorative and fruit crops, except for drought-resistant ones, they suffer from the scorching sun, and conifers in the winter-spring period suffer from sunlight, enhanced by reflection from the snow. In this article we will tell you about a unique preparation for protecting plants from sunburn and drought - Sunshet Agrosuccess. The problem is relevant for most regions of Russia. In February and early March Sun rays become more active, and the plants are not yet ready for new conditions.

Crimeans have a wonderful autumn tradition– go to the “Chrysanthemum Ball” in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden.

When you start talking about your trip, some people always say – we were there last weekend, and others – we’re going there next weekend. So we went again this year and made a photo report about our trip (or rather, we just wanted to more people I saw photographs of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden and especially these unusual chrysanthemums).

What is the Chrysanthemum Ball? This is the name of the traditional exhibition of these beautiful late flowers. Hundreds of colorful, unusual, wonderful varieties, including local selection. They bloom until frost, which may not happen at all on the southern coast of Crimea. For example, last year we were at the exhibition in December and managed to find most of the collection still in bloom. This year there were frosts, and some varieties withered already in November.

By the way, I thought that the big tall chrysanthemums were primarily afraid of frost, but they actually felt very good, but some of the middle ones died completely. But in any case, there was still something to see and we wandered for a long time between the flower beds, marveling at the diversity of chrysanthemums.

As always, I lingered the longest with my favorite “daisies”—chrysanthemums that resemble daisies. True, real daisies cannot boast of such a variety of colors. There was an exact copy of them here - white with a yellow center and burgundy in different shades and even almost red.

Again, like a year ago, we spent a lot of time near green chrysanthemums. We are accustomed to the fact that flowers cannot be green, but here, please, they are a bright grass color.

Last year we were at the Chrysanthemum Ball during a blackout (blackout), on a weekday, in December. Therefore, there were almost no people, we wandered almost alone, accompanied by butterflies and cats.

This year we got here on Sunday. There were a lot of people, there was even a queue at the botanical garden ticket office during lunch. There were people of all ages - flocks of nimble pensioners, no less nimble grandmothers with grandchildren, parents with children, young couples with selfie sticks.

I remember a girl with a camera muttering under her breath: “Why am I filming all this, I already have it all,” and clicking flower after flower.

By the way, the fact that attendance has increased significantly this year can be judged by the local cats. If last year they were actively interested in us, then this year they pretended that they didn’t understand kitties and proudly carried their well-fed carcasses past, completely ignoring the visitors.

Here are a few more photos from the “Chrysanthemum Ball”, it’s a pity that everything we clicked cannot be squeezed into the article:

The variety "Crimson Spider" was among the favorites among visitors.

What else blooms in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden?

Despite the end of November, roses continue to bloom here.

They have released their dim bouquets of yucca, they are in full bloom and the stuffy smell of expensive medlar soap.

Here is a photo of a blooming medlar:

The strawberry tree blooms and bears fruit at the same time. The tree and everything under it are strewn with fruits. He made them edible and sweet, so we ate one each (but it’s a secret!).

And this is a ripe persimmon:

and ripe pomegranate:

If you are strong enough to go downstairs and go behind the greenhouse with succulents, there you can admire the lilacs (yes, real blooming lilac) and, if you're lucky, clematis. Last year we walked around everything there, this year we spent more time on the central part.

We looked at the goldfish in the ponds and how the young palm trees planted a year ago had grown. We took pictures of the birds. They, shy in other places, boldly posed for us here.

What else to see at Nikitsky Botanical Museum

The park is beautiful all year round, there are a lot of evergreens and a gorgeous collection of conifers. My favorites are the redwoods, guests from North America. They may not be as huge as there, but the size is still impressive. There are many other giants of the plant kingdom in the park: cedars, pines, and plane trees. Of course, all guests are sure to pay attention to the palm trees.

A good collection of succulents in the garden. Most of Of these, they are collected in the greenhouse, but large prickly pears with ripe fruits can be admired in the center of the park near the gazebo. By the way, its fruits are also edible.

Also worthy of attention are the olive and bamboo groves, an exhibition of orchids, numerous shrubs with bright ripe berries - red, blue, yellow and purple like this:

In general, you should definitely go to the Nikitsky Botanical Garden for the “Chrysanthemum Ball” and just like that, and to the tulip exhibition, and to the flowering of roses, and to the flowering of clematis... and then again and again.
